Hello everyone.
I have been trying to have my Facebook contacts shown as part of my contacts list without success. The sync contacts option is not shown neither in the FB app's setting nor in the Settings -> Accounts -> Facebook, nor in People --> Contacts to display options.
Does FB app detect the brand/model and delivers different versions, some with contact sync enables and other without it?
I Installed the FB app from google Play. Have tried with four different ROMs and have the same result using my Ascend P6. If I do the same procedure (ROM flashing + app download) on a different device it works perfectly. For example using Cyanogenmod 10.1 on Ascend P1 will sync FB contacts, Cyanogenmod 10.1 on Ascend P6 does not.
Tested ROMs on Ascend P6 are B125 (International), B120 (Chinese), Cyanogenmod 10.1, PAC-Man 4.2 Milestone 1, HYD52ROM V2
Any idea of what could be causing this behavior?
Pull down the status bar, among the toggles should be a SyncAll option. Try it.
Thank you for the answer. Sync option is on. I'm currently syncing Google and LinkedIn account.
The problem is that the FB account doesn't seem to be communicating to the contacts service.

Ive been using B125 for awhile now and it never syncs FB to contacts, even the FB Messenger App, even though it says its already synced, but it never shows on our native contacts.
1 thing i did though is to use a third party contact app that allows to sync FB and all other social media, im using contacts+.
Well, at least it was not just me. I also use a third party app.
I'm wondering, is there any build.prop hack that I could use?

Use contacts+, or install KitKat works fine on that..
I just installed KK. The contacts sync is working.
It would be perfect if only there was an easy "merge contacts" options in the People app.

I am using sync.me for a long time now. It merges your Facebook contacts with your other contacts. Birtdays, profile pictures, job and much more. It can even sync last status update.

The functionality doesn't exist in Huawei's ROMs... I'm wating for Cyanogenmod 11 or Pac-MAN ROMS
It's not a problem in the rom. In the newer FB apps, there is no option to sync FB friends' number. Very sad thing, but that's it.

I upgraded to KitKat and now the sync is just working fine.
My personal conclusion is that the application is somehow aware of the ROM on which it's running and based on that it enables or disables the sync option. Why do I conclude this? Well because I manually installed the very same apk file in different roms and it does behave different.

I went to add a Facebook account, and it just takes me to the Facebook app login. Nothing shows up in accounts and sync.

I use syncmypics personally.
That's what I had to resort to. I thought everyone was mentioning that Android 2.1+ had native Facebook sync.
Not to my knowledge.
Um, yes acutally.
EVO's have a Facebook app that is SUPPOSED to sync contacts. But as of late the FB servers have not been syncing anything and it isn't just the rooted devices.
A friend of mine is running a 2.2 rom (NON cm6) off of another android board and he installed this Facebook: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734739 and he said it works.... It's worth a try if you haven't already.

I put the ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401560 and I have a problem with displaying images of contacts synced with FB.
All contacts with the FB do not have pictures. Others are displayed correctly.
On the other Rom was not the problem.
Has anyone any idea?

This happened to me recently too. I suspect it has something to do with the recent fb update. I think I fixed it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the app.

I think I will return to VA 1.48 - there was OK
Hmm... yeah, that's annoying. This happened to me coming from a CM mod to BeatMod BlissSense. I did find that over the course of several hours, my contacts ever-so-slowly linked to their facebook profiles along with their pics. But after a day I flashed back to ILWT CM so I didn't explore the issue much. Good luck.
Yes ILWT is a good ROM. I have a backup of the last edition, but I like Sense
-----Edition------
I found a solution. You can use this application http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.nloko.android.syncmypix and to download photos from FB.
Since it's a sense rom, try syncing your fb conatcs via Facebook with Sense
It's a separate thing from the official FB app and after you link them to fb with sense, you'll get your contact pics.
Hope that helps
Sent from my Desire Z via XDA App
Rather, I believe that this problem only in the Rom. I returned to VA 1.48 and here without any problem display the FB's photos.
it's a problem with most sense roms. sense has a separate facebook integration. which is why you should atleast try that first.
I've tried various Rom's of Sense and only in that I have seen this problem.
Hi together,
Within Facebook I configured an auto-sync and receive notifications but I do not get them :-(
tried already to de-install and install but did not help.
latest Facebook version is installed.
Does it work for anybody?
Thanks and cheers,

by default sense has very aggressive memory management meanng it will close apps quite quickly there are some app on play and as a mod on the forums, to improve it.
but before that have you tried unticking and reticking the box? clearing cache/data of FB or reinstalling it?

I don't get them either, but I didn't get them on the SGS2 either, so not sure if I'm supposed to get them.
I get a notification via tapatalk though when someone sends me a private message. - so, not every process gets killed.

What kind of notifications do you miss?
Perhaps you should activate them yourself, on your fb groups you should visit the group and turn on notifications to get them, for IM you game messenger perhaps (no problem there I think?)
You can also check the refresh interval @settings on your Facebook app if it is high then you won't get notifications so often.

where to check - within the app or within FB itself?
This is an Android issue....the only way I solved it myself was get access to a blackberry (yeah I know) or the virtual Blackberry software for windows.
Once logged in to Facebook log straight back out, you only need it for a minute, then go to Facebook on a PC, account settings and then apps I believe, in there somewhere will be Facebook for Blackberry, allow this access and that's it!
Its a bit fiddly but it solved it for me!
If you Google the right thing you will find a step by step guide, sorry I did this a year ago, so its all from memory :-\

I can confirm this. When I was still using my Galaxy S2 and lacked notifications for Facebook, I used the virtual blackberry software for windows from the RIM site, and logged in on facebook with that to fix the problem. It's been mentioned a few times before.
this is an well-known issue and affecting majority of Android devices, there are two workarounds
1. use MB Notifications for Facebook from Android Market
2. try the Blackberry FB tricks here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386394
I used the 2nd method and it works like a charm

Or use Friendcaster (or Friendcaster Pro) from the market.
I get all notifications with no problem by using this app and it has a push setting too (although it is still a bit buggy atm)

I really rely on Facebook contacts sync as it has pretty much all the numbers i need. I know there are apps like Friendcaster and Haxsync but those do not sync the numbers with the profiles. My GNex is running stock 4.1 right now and it is rooted I believe, since i rooted it myself last night (i think i did it right). Is there something that will allow me to Facebook Sync my contacts and still keep the standard OS without noticing anything changed. Or i guess in other words, how can i quickly enable it so that it can sync and then delete whatever i put to enable it to do that so that I am back at square one just this time with all my contacts I would backup and put on my computer. Using a standard GSM Gnex on the latest Jellybean update, I hope I was descriptive as possible. Also I am a noob so please don't go too crazy on me, I've never actually done any of this stuff but i just want my contacts so i can use the stock until im comfortable doing more of this

Download Friendcaster from the app store, just run it side by side with the official FB app. I did that for my fiance, even though friendcaster is more robust.
She loves it now though because she can finally get realtime push notifications from facebook

I don't think you guys are understanding what I am saying lol, I understand these apps give you the contacts. This is what I want yes, but what they lack is adding the contacts WITH the phone NUMBERS. I want the the phone numbers. I am trying to get the phone numbers of with the contacts lol am i clear yet :crying:
Exactly. I want numbers too. I have like 5 people synced to my Google account. The rest are on Facebook. Friend caster only syncs them to my "people" app. If I go to the phone app the numbers aren't there. When I open the menu and select "choose contacts to display" I select friend caster and it says 0 contacts. Looking for contacts phone numbers not just names and HD photos...

Custom ROMs usually have Facebook sync working fine, you could also search how to modify a stock google image to allow facebook sync, if I'm not mistaken you'll need root and busybox, you will need to edit a text file and run a script that will update a database in your phone... Unfortunately I don't have this information handy, so, you'll need to search for it if you want to modify stock rom (remember, you need root), or, you can always use custom roms that do not have this limitation.

I've flashed about 2 ROMs now that claimed to allow the facebook sync and they haven't worked lol can anyone direct me to one that actually does work and they know first hand? I'm going to look into that busybox editting text file business now in the meantime.
Lol Hino, what ROMs have that actually working? JB ROMs at least. I've tried just about all of them and I didn't have numbers from Facebook on any one of them.

Do you think you could link me to the ROMs that actually have the Facebook sync working properly, or link me to a thread that walks me through how to use busybox to bypass this stuff. I've honestly tried everything and searched since you posted this and nothing I can find works.

You tried to export them? There must be a way once you do get the contacts synced to save them into the phone and not just under the synced profile that way you can export them. I tried to export them off my other phone running gingerbread and put them onto my Gnex but it was a no-go the file i extracted had 0 bytes for some reason it just didn't want to export the contacts at all.. Was hoping it was still possible but I suppose its not
This is from Facebook site. Only option I found for you, would be to export them and add them to Gmail.
