11 Jul 2015: As mentioned before, development of the Fairphone stopped. Almost everything here on XDA. The index had no chance to really grow and won't ever be useful, so I close this thread now. If you have any questions or other things to tell me, send me a PM. Thank you.
14 Jun 2015: As a matter of facts, MediaTek is open as we already know. Unfortunately that means, the Fairphone 1 is outdated and will stay where it is right now. Development already stopped a while ago. Therefore I'll probably close this index in a while. Hopefully Fairphone will be very well prepared for the second device.
01 Sep 2014: Holy... there is an AOSP based ROM (WIP) out there... very new, probably not 100% stable yet, but very promising. This is a big step for the Fairphone, so big thanks goes out to chrmhoffmann for this ROM, but also for the recovery. Thanks for your work!
12 Jul 2014: If you want to customize your device with some Android L features/themes/icons, check out the Android L Specials section in the Nexus 5 index thread (please keep in mind you don't have the Nexus 5 and you don't have Android 4.4x KitKat!).

To those curious about why Cyanogenmod 12.1 builds for Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (SM-T700) are stuck at cm-12.1-20150714-NIGHTLY, the Cyanogenmod build bot has been failing builds for klimtwifi. A log of a recent build failure can be seen here (Build cm-12.1_klimtwifi-userdebug-nightly-- Jul 19, 2015 6:11:09 AM).
I'm not a developer, but I believe I've found the cause in a recent commit forcing the removal of a "deprecated" (obsolete) config file from the official Cyanogenmod source tree. The commit is described here.
This post is a call for help for developers who may have a better idea of what is going on, and who can push the needed changes for review and, hopefully, approval by the Cyanogenmod team.
Thinking about getting an S21 or 22 but I just have a quick question. Any chance I will eventually be able to use custom roms like lineageos on either phones? I'm currently using a OnePlus 6t and I like that after they stopped official support I could just install lineage.

IMHO, it's quite early to tell. Maybe in the next years this device can receive some developers love, but it's not gonna be easy. It's an expensive phone and Samsung has always been known for not being so open in terms of development. Let's wait and see.
