Am not a nerd but go get it replaced. If it's new and has such issues, theres no point trying to fix it yourself when you can just get a brand new device.

Yeah i thought of that, but its very far from where i am now, i will not mind fixing it if only its a software problem, and not hardware

flickering screen
I've seen the same problem on mine which is brand new but past the 14 day store return policy.
It happens when playing video. It seems to go away after reboot, and when I open air command with the spen, which makes me think its a firmware rather than hardware issue. I've checked to see and it has the latest update at the moment.
Anyone else have any news on this problem?

Used to happen to my P601 as well. After updating to a 4.4.2 Rom (specifically P601XXUCND6) I have not experianced it anymore

Have you had a look at settings in Device->Display ?
AutoBrightness and Optimize Display can both be causes of flicker, try turning them off in the Display Settings.

Turning off hardware overlay in developer options worked for me. Don't know why everything was fine the 1st week or so I had it and then all of a sudden with the flickering. Guessing it may be a cache issue or something but whatever, this worked.

Flickering Screen on Galaxy Note 10.1
Hi There
Have you figured out the solution to this?
I have purchased the Note 10.1 last week and Samsung has informed me that they will not replace it but that it would have to go for repairs.
I too have restored the factory settings and turned off all settings for the S-pen as advised yet the screen flickers even sometimes on the home screen! I have also turned off the auto-brightness.
How/Where can I turn off the hardware overlay ??
Does anyone have a solution for me please?

Samsung N7100 SOD (Sleep of death)

Hi, guys. I have bought device some days ago and unfortunately I have discovered sleep of death in my Note2. Device bought from Arabia. First it was stock ROM, i discovered SOD in this firmware, I changed it and installed Android Revolution HD 4.0 with Perseus kernel. But SOD still exist. I do not know what to do more. May be anybody had such a problem and could fix it? Please, share info with me and thanks a lot for advance
it goes off once or twice a day, I must push Power button for 10 second or take away battery/put back and power to turn on device

perhaps its a hardware issue. is there any way u could bring it back to the place u bought it? otherwise maybe just an extremely buggy ROM. im just guessing anyways. hope its resolved soon. cause it is a mint device. im got myself one too and im absolutely loving it
unfortunately no way to send it back, my buddy bought it for me, when was in KSA
Mine doesn't do this.. Had it about 2-3 weeks
I had one SOD so far. I was playing granny smith, locked the phone while the game was still on, didn't wake up. That was on my first boot. Since then no problems.
very interesting is there any way to fix this problem?
today put new official ROM, Pit, Bootloader, PDA, Modem and waiting for the result ...
But have you updated it to the latest Samsung firmware? If not then use Kies on your PC to update your Note 2 to the latest version.
Btw I've never had sod on my note 2, even when in the stock power save mode. Stock phone no root.

i have resolved SOD problem in my Note2. I installed GT-N7100XXALJ3_SER_HOME RESCUE ROM, took away external sd-card, and in wifi advanced option put check if wifi internet service is available when AP connected. That is all. No SOD

Hey!
The sod that was talked about in this thread is not the same thing as the eMMC bug some have been experiencing, this bug doesn't cause a brick.
Ttorrent has a bug where it simply freezes the whole system, but it's solved with a reboot. Google shows several reports of this. Don't know whether it's fixed or not now.

I remember this from Note 1... had no idea this problem was still around - and again it seems to bother just some people, even if they all use the same rom. On Note 1 it had most likely something to do with deep sleep / frequency changes, and was "fixed" by preventing your phone from going to deep sleep mode.

Hi guys. I have same problem. A few days ago I've decided to install custom rom with 4.3. First problem was when I tried to install ROM. CWM couldn't mount my internal sd. I solved this problem, but now I have SOD. I tried many manuals to fix it( battery calibration, turn of WIFI in sleep mode, etc) I just noticed one think. When I turn OFF and then turn ON "Power Saving Mode" It happens that device may work for a couple of hours. I forgot one think. I have SOD problem every time I lock my device.
P.S. sorry for my english

Does the ghost touch always touch the same spot? This happened to me for a while, right after unlocking the screen sometimes I would get a ghost touch in the same spot. Apart from that it did not affect anything else, the ghost touch only occurred from time to time after unlocking. After a while it went away don't know what changed exactly. Maybe try restarting the tablet see if that helps. I haven't had a ghost touch in ages.

I got the feeling the ghost spot is at random because always other programs are launched from homescreen.
They are charging way to much for a laggy, faulty device.
I reduced the lag though, so now rest the screen xD
Get a replacement tablet if you can.

[Q] Weird WiFi Issue (Wont Turn On)

Hello all,
Its been a while since I had an issue with my phone but this one is really bothering me. Last week for no reason at all I noticed my WiFi was turned off while at work. When I tried to use the drop down widget to turn it back on it would just stay gray for like 5-10 seconds then go back to the off position. So I went into settings and tried to turn it on the long way and got the same result. This was troubling to me because I had made no changes to my phone that could have effected this. So after doing some digging around online and not finding any answers I contacted Samsung tech support who was terribly uninformed about their product and offered very little help with my problem. They suggested I go into the application manager and reset the application preferences. I was skeptical because I had spent a considerable amount of time disabling all the bloatware that was not needed in the past but I did take the advice of tech support and to my surprise it did get wifi working again.. temporarily that is.
Today I did the OTA 4.4.2 Kit Kat upgrade in hopes that it would fix my issue and to my shock and surprise it did. Wifi worked flawlessly for a few hours but then all the sudden earlier today it just shut off again without notice. Now once again, it will not turn back on no matter what I try. Im thinking this could potentially be a hardware issue. If it is then why after the upgrade to 4.4.2 did it work so well for a few hours?
Any help would be much appreciated as I have chewed through nearly all of my monthly data allocation while trying to find a working fix.
Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem. I upgraded to the KK 4.4.2 and now my WiFi won't turn on! I'm getting the Security notice that "Your phone's security has blocked an action that is not permitted. No further action is required." So, I went to the phone security tab to see what my settings were and it is set to Normal and the only other choice is High. So, I don't want to change that setting!
Both of you guys try flashing Ktoonz newest KK kernel for tw.. If that won't work there's also something to try to fix it in the OP, or you could also try that first

Right.. But other than that, the only other thing I can think of is to Odin the 4.4.2 firmware and see if that would fix it, if not then its likely a hardware problem

[Q] got software update today

I got software update today for galaxy tab pro 8.4. The file size was 188mb stating it's for system stability. Anyone got this update? Do you see any improvement in your system.?
I updated on my 12.2, feels the same to me.
I also got the update this morning. I was having issues with the touch sensitivity and even was about to send it back to Samsung (for the second time) for this problem. Now I'm getting much better control. Very happy about that! Everything else seems the same
When I "check for updates", I get "The software update service is not available. Maximum number of roll-out updates has been exceeded. Try later or update your device using Samsung Kies (www.samsung.com/kies)."
Which presumably means an update is available but not to me at the moment.

Going back for repair a second time....
After the update I did notice a change in my screens touch response and kept telling myself how much better it was, and that it was fixed. Until I used a first gen Nexus 7 for an hour. NO selections were made unless I choose it, NO double letters when typing, and NO worries when on Facebook or Google Play store. Using my Tab Pro after the 7, was like using some off branded tablet companies first attempt at the touch screen. So it's going back to the repair facility for the second time, ridiculous. . .
I'm not new to Samsung, I had a Tab 3 8.0 before the Pro, my Galaxy s5 works well, and even the Tab 3 7.0 I bought for my little girl works smoothly.
Anyone still having touch screen issues? Anyone sent their Tab Pro out for service?

[Q] Touch Key duration bug - lights stay on when set to stay off

I've a SM-T700 Tab S 8.4 running lollipop, and I've recently noticed a bug. I don't know if it's new since the lollipop upgrade, but I didn't notice it before.
I often use it to read in the dark, so I turn the brightness down and set the touch keys to never light up. However, after a while the lights come on and stay on until the setting is altered again.
Anyone else getting a similar issue?
Hi! I think it's a common bug. I have the same problem and read that many people have it.
I'm not aware of any permanent solution, so for now i keep mine at 1.5 seconds (I'd prefer them off, but thats the best I could find!)
PS: Sorry for my English!
No need to apologize. Your English is perfect.

If the problem's widespread, what devices/ROMs has it been seen on? Is it Galaxy-specific, I wonder.

Same problem here, only on mine the only way I've found to turn them off once they come on is to restart the device. What a hassle.
I have the same problem, regardless of what I set the duration to. It never did this under Kitkat.

Yes, same problem here with my new Samsung Tab S 8.4 SM-T700, stock 5.0.2
Putting it to 1.5 secs is the best I can do for now. I'm looking around on the app store to see if there's a different app to control this that might work (aside, the Galaxy S6 came with no way to turn these off and you have to use a separate app to do this).

No need to restart/reboot, for me if I change the setting to something else (e.g., 1.5 secs etc) and then back to OFF it'll work for a while before it stays on permanently again.

I tried that with mine... won't work: no matter what I change the setting to they just stay on until I restart the device. I created a ticket with Samsung support last week, but no response from them so far.
Ah .. ok, that's interesting, thanks for sharing. Hopefully Samsung will issue a fix in the next update. Nice tablet otherwise.
I'm sure most, if not all, knew this, but it is definitely a software issue. I flashed CM 12.1 the other day and the touch keys stay off. Perhaps someone can look into the stock firmware and see if there's a way we can fix it ourselves?
Hey guys, I've had the same bug since upgrading to Lollipop and I found out it seems to be a bug with the power saving mode. If I turn it off, the bug stops happening. I'm also testing power saving mode with the "turn key lights off" option unchecked, and it seems to be working ok. This option can be found under settings, power saving, restrict performance.
I'll keep testing. If anyone tests it too please reply with your findings!

I never use power saving mode, because I'm almost always near a charger, and I also had this issue. I don't think power saving mode has much to do with it. Not directly, at least.
Hi, I'm not using power savings mode, but have the same problem, so I'm not sure this mode is a factor (at least a sole factor).
