I don't think there's a codec issue, it seems to be a clocking issue.
HQ videos don't play in youtube, but the "SD" ones are perfectly fine. Seems videos above a certain resolution don't work yet. Known issue.
Plus, if your issue is with that Huawei ROM, please post in that thread. Don't make a new thread.
No, I'm using default rhodium uk rom. In wimo it plays okey, but not in android... I'll try to change resolution of video to lower(actual res. of this video was 800x480).
I'll let you know if it will change anything.

Thanks for your input, but have you read my 1st post....?
Diceplayer works but I can't use Google's Checkout so I'm looking for alternatives.
So far I've tried: QQPlayer, Moboplayer, Mx Video Player, RockPlayer, BSplayer and Vplayer.

you can't purchase anything from the market place?????
dice player can be purchased on the market place.
Exactly...I can't purchase anything from the Market.
Do you use dice player ? If so, do you also find the volume of AC3 too low or is it just me.....(I used dice player trial to test it)

AC3 through 'stereo' is always quite. at least, 'quiter' then intended. reason being is that AC3 is a format in which the audio is split into multiple channels rather then just the standard 2 channel stereo.
when you attempt to play an AC3 via stereo it then compresses the channels down to 'stereo' and in the process it loses a bit(which is why it gets quiet).
I can play h.264 720p mkv's with ES Explorer's video player... I doubt it's the best player but was a bit impressed that it decoded them fine.

How do I choose ES Explorer's player ? It doesn't give me this option. (btw ICS player h.264 with no problem in default player, the whole problem is with AC3 sound....have you tried mkv with ac3 ? )

I didn't realise h.264 was native and no, I not tried with AC3.
For ES I just select a video, long press, open-as, video, ES Player.

I wasn't sure anymore so I've tried it. It turns out I did test it before....same problem as with i.e. Vplayer no Hardware decoding and Software decoding is too slow for 720p playback. Although AC3 plays fine in software mode.
OK guys, I have found the answer on my own...
MX Video Player in SW Fast Mode plays MKV(h.264 in 720p) with AC3 with almost no fps loss.

This works indeed but not on all my videos....
To sum up: MX Video Player = best free player.
So if you set Video on [HW] and Sound on [SW] it works on most MKV videos with x264 and AC3 but on some files the video and audio are out of sync then you need to change the Video to one of the two [SW] modes.
my Nexus' keeps freezing up whenever i try to play one of these 720P (ac3) .mkv files. once it's frozen i can't do anything with the phone and then have to pull the battery. even in that MX video player... it'll show that it's attempting to open the video and then BAM!.. frozen.
it's funny because the Rezound can handle these files no problem in multiple apps(Dice Player, Mobo Player, MX Video Player).. so why is it such a pain with the Nexus?

it does work in other players by default? you should see the beats notification in the notification bar. if disabled it is grey, if enabled its red. i can listen to voicemails with beat enhancements if i really wanted to..
yes, Beats audio is system wide by default, just plug your headphones in, go to settings > sound > sound enhancer and select "Beats"
Beats audio will activate everytime music plays on any media player

How to play MKV movies with DTS audio on Note II?

The stock movie player doesn't seem to support DTS audio. Is there another player in the market that does? Without that, I will have to re-encode my movies that has DTS audio. Thanks for any help!

Thanks! I installed it and tested it with a MKV movie with DTS, and it says it cannot play it.
Mx player. Best

Haven't tried MKVs yet, but Moboplayer has never let me down yet.

I second that, MX player is one of the best players and its free plus there are many codecs that support many different types of files.

Weird Dice Player should be able to play everything. Check it's settings. I'll check when I get home tomorrow with my MKV's.

Here is a good thread, albeit from the S3 forum, on DTS audio
there is a plugin for dts on dice
it seems like none of those plugins are for the Samsung processor in the Note II? They are either for Tegra or Cortex?
i got a file mxlibs-176-neon.zip following a link above, and now dts audio is working with mx player.
Never mind I found it under accessibility.
vlc should play them also
If you only want to play the MKV files on your Note 2, I think MX player can do this, but if you want to play DTS audio,I am not sure this player can meet your demands.

Old post, but check out vlc.

Video player that can decode DTS (solved)!

Most of my videos are blu-ray rips. They are encoded in .mkv format and have DTS audio tracks. My on board video player will play the video but not the audio. The same thing appears to be true of the app MX Video. How do you guys play HD videos with digital audio tracks?

It's a really new device, and there aren't a lot of discussions.
Solved.
I followed Randles' advice in the two posts on this page. It worked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831111&page=7
Randles replies to a post that includes a link to download a custom codec for MX Player (post #62), and then Randles shows you how to install the codec (post #66). With this codec installed, I can now play mkv's with dts audio tracks using MX Player on my Note 2. Success!
Download the codec for MX Player in post #62 and follow the instructions in post #66 to install it.
