I picked up a one X today for a really good deal, even though I didn't really need a new phone. I currently have a tmobile Samsung galaxy s2 that I like but I like changing phones once and a while. So is the One X a good phone for normal use? I've heard the battery doesn't last long, is this true?
Thanks guys!

yeah, my battery usually lasts only 3-3.5 hours screen on time with moderate use i.e browsing/sms/music/facebook at 35% brightness. Usually have to recharge it twice daily to get through the day. Performance is decent, and so is the camera.
If you recharge it twice during a day you have wakelocks or a bad batt. I am currently on cm11 rom and i got 12hrs stand by and 4,5hrs of screen on time which is pretty decent. Also on sense i got 4hrs screen on and i never charged it twice. So my guess is... It will get you trough the day. But you may expect different things then i from it

alright I've used it a couple days and the battery lasts plenty long for me on the 4.2.2 update. I just gotta send it in to get the usb port fixed as it won't connect to a pc.
Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, it's very good phone, enough fast/snappy (for me atleast), tried it hand by hand with galaxy s4, and s4 is not much faster.
Bad things are battery and heat, and front camera in room, or somewhere where is light lower than on sun.
the phone is good, battery not so much (old story...); anyway, the worst thing is tegra3 in my opinion, as HTC doesn't support it anymore... my next phone will be a qualcomm device
all in all, even if there is no more support and sense roms are "only" android 4.2.2, the custom ones are very good... i wouldn't buy a HOX again, but i won't sell mine
As others have said, the battery life is the one thing that lets this phone down. Everything else about it is excellent. It may not be able to compete with the latest smartphones but for a casual user it's still an excellent phone. The only other thing to be aware of is that the device will not get any more updates, so no KitKat. 4.2.2 is fine, though.

Guess you'll find out. There's no formula that you can just see what your battery would be with specific criteria.
There are soooo many more things that factor into your battery, down to where you live and the load on towers you're connected to.

Also make sure your Freeze the Maps app or remove it, it tends to open randomly in the background and drain battery. I get an extra hour or so since I did this.
I normally get 16.5 hours with 3G + Bluetooth on. I don't have anything syncing though (all manual updates, Tasker forces a sync every hour to check e-mails.
Screen on time is ~3 hours or so.
Music (Rdio/Ubuntu Music) kills battery more than anything else for me though. Even with sreen off I get at best 2.5 hours of music

Didn't see this before. I had an Amaze 4G and if one thing sucked, it was battery life. I make it longer on a standard batter in my GNex. I put an extended one in the Amaze just to get it to were the GNex is normally (albeit sense is probably to blame here).
Well people there reports 14 hours of battery whit 4 hours screen on time here barely 3 hours screen on time and 6 hours total im not a heavy user tho gonna get the xperia s coming for rogers next week! Thanks everyone for helping out though

Stock battery is definitely underwhelming. Though saying that, this is the best phone I have ever used. The fluidity and smothness of Ice Cream Sandwich makes the phone not even feel like an Android almost.
I don't know if you're planning on rooting, but if you are, this is THE phone to get. Tons of different customizations which will make the battery life on the phone go from 6 hours to 19 hrs and higher depending on the amount of use. Hope this helped.
I've had it for about three weeks and had the 3d. The gnex to me has better everything by using both and feels better. I get 8-14 hours depending on my use this is with the GSM model.

I must be in a weird boat because I don't have any problems with battery life like other people. I charge for about 8 hours a night and when I go to plug it in at the end of the day after about 16 hours off the charger I usually have around 40-60% left.
That's "normal" use though. Some texts and emails, some browsing, 30-45 mins of "Words with Friends", maybe some YouTube videos, a couple 5-10 min calls. Even right now after 7 hours off charger I'm at 80% with 26 mins of screen on. And yes, that's stock everything with 4G on and connected (even in the office where it's always going between some and no signal) and Wi-Fi.
If you are the type to use your phone as a gaming/media device like many of the people who complain about battery life, yes, it probably does suck a bit getting 2-4 hours between charges. But that's a lot to ask of such a tiny battery when you are using it non-stop.

Battery is pretty awful compared to my last phone: iPhone 4.
But, the problem is solved if you purchase a couple of more batteries and an external battery charger. I just carry a battery with me and keep one in my backpack.
Only had the phone for a week. I find the battery much better than my previous captivate.
These were taken last night before plugging it in.
I'm very impressed. Not a lot of talk time on my phone during the work week though.

Hi I'm new to the x. How long are peoples phones lasting I got to charge least twice a day..bit of a joke lol
Any tips for the x

I have my X for 2 months now and on a stock rom i was charging it once per day, sometimes once per 2 days (that depended on how much i was ''playing'' with it).But when i was charging it I've tried to charge it for at least 8-9 hours.I always left it to charge through night and i had a phone for a whole day long. When you bought your X did you charge it for about 12 hours 2-3 times ? They told me at the shop where i bought it that i should do it-otherwise it wouldn't last for half of a day...Maybe that's the thing you didn't do ? Cheers
Don't know mate I traded my nexus for the x. Wouldn't know that kind of thing. I do charge her fully though. I know my nexus only needed one. Im running the x on 2 cores. WiFi not on when locked etc. Turned auto sync off. I dimmed the brightness a bit but like the one x screen so dont want to lower it to much. Might have to start turning it off of something when I don't need it

You aren't just playing with it a bit to much, since you got it recently? Otherwise, try installing ARHD Rom and Faux or Franco kernel.

maybe ARHD can help
after installing this , it really increase the battery life
Not overly playing be honest.the shell and hardwares different but ROMs dont vary to much. I'll try arhd again maybe.

I always get about one day out of it (with tbalden's CM10 rom).

battery sucks
ARHD rom 8.00 with stock kernel and Sense 4.1 looks like that there is better battery life.
I might try arhd.
On the off chance it would work I used a battery calibrator app (yes it doesn't always work)
It has made a difference though. I also discovered that even though the green led came on and the battery icon showed full it was actually only 91% charged. Thanks to the app I even noticed..

Have HOX for one day, at first charge 26h on battery, 15% left and still running with wifi on, recent calls, sms, internet, camera. Played dead trigger about 15mins. Played with phone, set interface and all settings for personal usage, wached couple of youtube videos, played couple of songs via speaker, run 4 benchmarks (antutu ate 2%, quadrant 0%), surfed net, downloaded apps and so on..
Why the hell are u whining about the battery life. With that kind of a screen battery is great. Still did not pushed core fire to system/app. With little of optimization battery would last 2 days with medium usage. I mean what do you want?
Best experience for now, no complains at all. Had Galaxy S3, and it sucks compare to this. Looks ugly, feels ugly, Touchwiz feels ugly, why the f.uck u need SD if u have 32gb of free space + cloud .. i mean come on .. its a phone (if it had 128gb of memory and no SD slot there would be the same issue). Removable battery, i bet 1% of people have 2 or more batteries and those who need such a thing, are not buying phone quad core with 5" screen. What else? Screen got scratches, i dropped and it crashed .... Really?
There are bugs for some % of products, thats why there are warranty for god sake. On my personal experience i know only one perfect phone with absolutely no complains - Nokia 3310.
My advise, HOX! Go for it and do not listen for 95% of bull**** posted on the internet.
Its not whining its a statement mate.its fine now. There's no issue with finding out how people resolve it etc. I like my x. You never had a phone you were unsure of at first?
And yep the 3310 was bad ass I had three of them. No complaints either with that phone. Least we didnt spend so much time messing about it.

Havnt had the One X for that long but Iv realized that having a No-Sense Rom installed you can increase the battery life. I went from 2 times a day to just once a day. Of course Screen Brightness does play an important role as well.
My wife just upgraded to an iPhone5 by signing a 2-year extension, so I've decided to upgrade to another phone to keep our contract terms the same. I have a Galaxy Nexus that I've enjoyed using - mainly for the official updates. But for $10, I can get a refurb One X. I know these phones are pretty similar, but I wanted to list a few gripes about the GNex and see if they are evident in the HOX:
1. GPS hardly works - I've tried some fixes, but I always seem to have to turn off Google location and reboot for a signal to sync.
2. Battery Life - I'm a pretty heavy web surfer and the GNex will typically last 4 - 5 hours (30%). On a typical day, I usually charge once around 1:00pm and before bed.
I love JB, but if it not released for HOX in October, I imagine I can find a ROM with it?

Battery life depeds on how u use the phone..
If u use 3g all the time and usual auto sync then u can get aprox around 3 hours of screen on time..
Compared to gnex its lower..
U can get 4-5 hours on galaxy s3..
So tbh hox fails on battery..

No you do not unless you are hardly using your phone except staring at it. 2 hours on screen time is average and eveb then you gotta be careful.

Sorry, what's that? $10 for the phone? $10 a month? For 2 years? I'd be all over that.
Thanks for the responses. I'll need to do a little more research. It's $10 when signing a 2-year agreement.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
the One X and Nexus are not similar....massively better screen, built and camera, GPU and CPU i don't see the "similar"
just be prepared for a lot of screen off time and less screen on time, Tegra 3 is different from all other phones it gives crazy amount of sleep time thanks to the extra low power core and consumes a lot during actual use, over wifi browsing you can achieve 3.5 hours, don't forget the screen is over 4x brighter so even at 25% you are still brighter than the GNEX, heavy 3d gaming gives around 2.5 to 3 hours on stock ROM
custom ROMs are aplenty and CM10 is fully functional but you loose the benefits of Sense (believe when i say benefits) and you loose the camera abilities like HDR and burst mode
the current 2.17 Android 4.0.4 firmware is almost as smooth as JB
we had the leaked JB alpha test firmware for few weeks, beta is just around the corner and the final OTA is coming in OCTOBER
be careful with refurbs we had lots of QC issues on launch

Blame AT&T. They called the One XL the One X for some reason.
So I recently installed this Rom, immediately after I saw that it boasted about having the ability to add an amazing battery life.
Now I've seen a couple of threads, and videos of guys proving this. So I was quite excited that I will be able to have a great battery life, more use of my phone, rather than just 6-8 hours.
However, after installing it last night, and charging it, I noticed today, that I only had the phone on for 6 hours, and already it was down to 11%.
I didn't even use my phone that much. It may have downloaded one or two apps, but that's it. So, I've reinstalled the ROM, to see if this will fix it.
Anyone one else used this ROM with the HTC One X and experienced the same thing?
Also new to the forum, and using roms, so be gentle :silly:
