Model Number Change and Bluetooth Issues - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello all!
Long time lurker new poster So I rooted my phone a couple weeks ago and I have messed around with a few ROMS, always looking for SGH-M919 ROMS only because my phone is an original tmobile phone. I rooted it with files that stated it was for multiple platforms (IE Tmobile, Sprint, ATT etc). Well I have been having a few issues with every rom, mainly involving crashes (hard lock and reboot) when using bluetooth connectivity.
I am wondering if this has something to do with the fact that it seems my model number has changed. It was original SGH-M919 and now it is a GT-I9505G. Would this have been caused by the root? I am certain I am only installing ROMS for the SGH-M919 (Currently on Danvdh GE 4.4.2). Is there a possibility that the model number change is affecting the ROMS installed and causing the bluetooth connectivity issues I am having?
Thanks again for all your help!

Those galaxy roms can change your model number.

I'd Odin the stock image and use cf autoroot to root it.

what to do/ install to get the most out of the S3?

Any apps/ adjustment/ settings ANYTHING would be much appreciated. Im trying to get the most out of my S3. Im on stock rooted JB (Note that I'm not interested in flashing rom...) Thanks !!
I have 1 suggestion for now. Use X-plore as the file manager. It has root browser and everything. No ads and it's free. Really great file manager that I've just discovered last week after 6 months using Astro.
Cpu sleeper. Custom kernel (I use ktoonz).
Can't think of more of top of my head other than typical "going thru settings"to customize further.
I use stock rooted as well. The kernel change only to get better life out of battery and performance to device.
T-Mobile Galaxy S 3, stock and rooted.
I'm on stock rooted as well (need TW for wifi calling) and I've found my experience is vastly improved with Apex launcher. There are a good number of launchers out there, so you can try a few and see what you like.
Other than that, it's just stuff that caters to my interests.
Go to dev settings and turn animations and stuff from 1x to .5x.

Wifi calling is a feature on stock tmobile phones that allows you to make calls via your wifi connection and not use any minutes. AOSP doesn't have it on our phone. It is for those that live in poor signal areas and still need their phone for calls.

[FIX] Fix for Youtube constant buffering!!!

Hello, just found and wanted to share this fix i have found in other forum...
I have a good internet speed, however youtube is always buffering during a lot of time while watching videos... HERE IS A FIX
It is a flashable zip that places an init.d script
INSTALLATION:
-Flash attached zip
-Enjoy videos in HD without lag
This script executes the following commands (blocks bad CDNs):
Code:
#fix youtube lags
/system/bin/iptables -A OUTPUT -d 173.194.55.0/24 -j DROP
/system/bin/iptables -A OUTPUT -d 206.111.0.0/16 -j DROP
DOWNLOAD:
http://db.tt/SSrXL2dR
TO REVERT CHANGES:
-Some people reported that its not working well for them. To revert changes, just delete the file:
/system/etc/init.d/01youtubefix
Stock roms don't have init.d support, do they?

I have read that they are the ISPs who are causing this.... They reduce the bandwith of youtube traffic due the high demand...
Fourtunately, we have this fix and it really works. It is very strange to watch a full video without being stopped hahaha
Flashed on my phone and it seems that it didn't make a difference, possibly worse. I'm currently using latest xylon ROM and trinity kernel. Is it possible for you to upload a revert settings zip?
Edit: If it matters/helps I have Verizon FiOS 50/25.

Good question. You could always just dirty flash your Rom with just a dalvik and cache wipe and see if the script is still in the init.d folder afterwards

After flashing my YouTube video loads very very slow now and sometime it doesn't even load a video at all. Guess its time to reflash the ROM .

This fix is growing in popularity over the internet for PC's too, I wonder if ISPs changed the IP address or something. I tried the windows version fix on my PC tonight and nothing. YouTube is next to worthless to me anymore on my WiFi. :banghead:

Lollipop port

I found a lollipop ROM for the note 2 international version and was wondering if it would be easier to port from that or to start with aosp. Any suggestions on where to get started? Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/orig-development/rom-namelessrom-2-0-t2943424
I imagine e it'd be easier to start with the port.
Now all we need are some porting pros.
Its dissapointing that no one is even attempting to maintain this phone now. I suppose, I could try to commission a maintainer though...
Edit: well I found out what happened to one of our biggest device maintainers.

wifi needs to be turned on once before screen turns off or you will bootloop you can turn it off afterwards and rom will work fine
you need to change settings for keyboard to work settings--language&input--current keyboard then enable hardware switch

OK. So I understand this now. The back camera does not work period. Even with other apps.
Runs great! I wonder how big of an impact the mostly white menus will drain our batteries. And if the new way Android works and its battery saving will off put that.

I have compiled AICP 5.0.1 (has mobile service) and BrokenPOP (before mobile service worked) and only BrokenPOP had both front and rear camera working. I am working on a new compile of BrokenPOP now and if camera is still working I will port that over to both CM and AICP.

AICP [5.0.1][unofficial]

Well I have had this out on my other forum for a bit now and figured it was time to share here on XDA. This is an unofficial build of AICP so if you have any issues please post here and no where else. Known Issues:
Screen off reboot -- To prevent this just turn on wifi once and after that you can run wifi off/on and wont have any issue
Keyboard no showing -- Open settings go to languages and input.. current keyboard.. and enable hardware keyboard option
GPS -- The gps sensor does not work.. You can flash the gps fix in the 3rd post to gain gps

AICP 10 / 5.1.1 build?
Is there a stable AICP 10 (lollipop 5.1.1) build for the Galaxy Note 2 SPH-L900? I recently installed the stable version on my daughter's Galaxy S3, and I really like it. I'd like to put the Ice Cold Project on my Note II, but I can't find it anywhere. Any pointers? I'm really not in the mood to deal with all the sudden problems that pop up in nightly builds.

Jlmancuso got banned, so I'm not sure we will ever see more development on the roms he was working on. The note 2 is getting less and less development as it ages, just the natural life cycle of phones.
I see Jlmancuso got banned? He seemed such a great help here! Hopefully someone can shed some light on that one!
But I also just installed the ROM and do like it. But seem to have 1 weird issue in that my camera will not work. At first it only showed the front facing camera, and not the back. And then after trying to switch to video, it also can't find the camera.
I'm going to try and load a the camera.apk from the Alliance Rom (my former rom) if that is possible. But everything else seems to be working good on it.

Galaxy tools, i uploaded the apk to dropbox. i got from the thread on galaxy tools. It is the easiest to get native built in hotspot to work, without issues.
