Does anyone know what makes the v500 and v510 so different? How come the Roms aren't interchangeable /compatible? is it because of the kernels?

I believe the install difference between the ROMs is in the Kernel and has to do with Loki and the bootloader..... I'm not a DEV though so don't take my word for it.
I've pinged our CM device maintainer about the status of our device a couple times but he is busy and I think it is taking low priority.
The last thing I heard was:
ME: Any news on the installation procedure changes for GPE?
Ricardo: I've yet to get my hands on one
ME: Do you physically need hands on it, can I provide you files, or let you remotely control a computer with the GPE plugged in? Just let me know if there is anything I can do to help! Thanks for all your work on the CM!
Ricardo: I'm going to try to get someone at the Seattle office to do that. It's more a time availability problem than anything else...
ME: Understood! Thanks, you guys rock!

why don't you compile your own using this guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2628951
two of the items shown in the second post are how to make it possible to change GAMMA color settings, and how to change your default governor for the CPU.

So, being complete ignorant of programming like I am, would I be able to package this kernel with a CM11 for AWIFI and have a working rom?

or is this only compiled for AOSP? or LGUI?
Don't you need different stuff in kernels for different roms based on the instructions from the rom?

I would think that so long as you have the rom kernel source (there should be a commit changelog, and they have to release the source code if it is open source), you could indeed push it to our device the 510 that is I don't know anything about ROM development so I couldn't tell you if there is more necessary there or not.
the cool thing is, if you use "fastboot boot" rather than "fastboot flash", it will not stay permanently on your device and you should be able to reboot if you have any problems.

what is a kernel?
Hey friends htc releases some devices kernel source code for free....
i don't know What it is exactly?
Is this information helpful for wildfire people.?
can we do anything special with that code??
please tell me...
i am eagerly waiting to know...
for source code follow this..
goto htcdev.com site
and then to devcenter , and downloads..
sry for this description...
this is my first post , the admin not allowing me to post an external link..
its
htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
The releases have nothing to do with the Wildfire.
In simple terms, the kernel allows software to communicate with hardware. A custom kernel lets you adjust settings like CPU speed.

If I'm correct kernels usually come with a ROM.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Basicly its the thing that controlls your speed thats why people get new kernels (to overclock)
So, can you flash a kernel to a custom rom that is better than what came with the rom or would that be a conflict?

The underlining system of a operating system. Wether it be android, unix/linux or windows/mac. Better kernels can be flashed with extra features.
I just found some article about ubuntu touch, and it says basicly it is used CM 10.1 if I'm not mistake. And the entry level requirement is 1Ghz and 512 Mb for RAM. I though Ace 2 would be great if we can port it Link to the article
Sorry if wrong section
Maybe some development can do it but CM for ace 2 don't work full neither 10 - 10.1 and there is priority for now

You won't sadly until I get it fixed. First need to figure out why. If you can get it far enough for a logcat that would help. I made it adb=insecure

It is possible, you need to use like Uninkernel and replace some files from a International R0M with ones from a Sprint ROM.

I don't think anyone has successfully used any of the international Roms. one of the devs told me it had to do with how much more different the source code is on the Sprint model.

I used to do it when I had my Sprint LG G3, it worked really well its just a matter of finding a model with similar Wifi Chips, Bluetooth Chips, etc
I may work on it actually, if anyone wants to help message me
When I messed with international ROMs on my S5, I kept having issues with Phone force closing and everything data/phone related force closing. I never followed the logcat but I think I gave up because it required fixing a lot of smali code in the framework.jar which.. screw that. Lol. I think it is possible, just way too much work to make it function fully.
I got this ROM booting, just flash it and THIS KERNEL. So far, cellular and 5GHz WiFi don't work, I will be working on a patch though. It will be a all in one patch, with Kernel, WiFi and cellular then you guys can test...

Or lets say if I try porting a VZW rom, what would I have to do to get data or is it not possible?

The dev was Xileforce, but it was him telling me that he heard the source was different. I haven't browsed around much, but if there is a dev porting international to sprint on the Note 5 or Edge Plus, they might know where such files exist. Also, the devs from the international forum that have attempted to port might have insight also.
Could we make a modem.IMG? Or do you guys know where the modem.bin goes?

I dont think it is modem related. its lib and framework related. As said by the other guy, there is A LOT of source code changes that we don't have access to. It will boot, as you have seen, but the data doesn't work due to how the native code interacts with the hardware on the device. It tries calling methods that do not exist or are named differently. Intl ROMs mainly use GSM. Which is one of the reasons its so tedious. When I had T-Mobile, a simple change in the APN would make intl ROMs work.

Hi, as we have noticed that CMTE has found it's way to non CM base ROMs I am wondering what's the procedure of porting CMTE on ROMs ??!! Any help will be appreciated.

Well the procedure is much like porting anything else.
Go through the gerrit and choose all the commits related to themes..
Also add the theme engine repos..
