TTF-Font - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to include a special TTF-Font into my G Pad (rooted).
With my HTC device this wasn't a problem, but the tools I tried didn't work.

I used these zips to change my font. I'm pretty sure there's a bigger thread on xda but this one had the fonts I wanted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577980
I'll add the other link if I find it. Oh and easiest way to revert is to reflash your rom
**edit ** I better mention that I am on cm11 not stock ***

This worked great for me, and it worked on the stock ROM as well. Essentially what the ZIP does is just rename the fonts to match the names that Android is looking for and adjusts permissions as well. I was looking to get the WebOS font on my G Pad, but ended up settling for the fron from the Xperia Z line. Very nice phones from Sony these days!

[MOD][4.1.2]Remove QSlide Apps from Stock Jelly Bean LG-E973/1/5/0 [Canada edition]

Hello guys, this is my first contribution to the community, I started getting involved with the website since I wanted to root my Optimus G.
First of all, I want to give credit to the following posts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194423 For creating the flashing zip and the installer script, otherwise it would be more difficult for us to install it. Elegant.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453869 For creating a great tutorial that I followed and had zero problems while tweaking the UI files.
I made all the elements from the HorizontalScrollView visibility to "gone" and the height set to 0dip.
Because it's the only ROM that I have tried this with, I will only say it's compatible with that one until otherwise proven and test
Only compatible with Canadian version from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127346
Please, before doing this backup /system/app/LGSystemUI.apk or make a nandroid backup.
To apply it just reboot into recovery mode and flash it, I have provided a version to hide them and another to show them back.
I'm not responsible for any damage.
do you have to be rooted to flash this?
also... the e971 (rogers) stock jelly bean doesnt have the qslide apps .. will flashing the 'show' file display them?/put them on the phone?
Have anyone tried it with E97510a ?
After applying how do I take screenshots? Is screenshot goes directly to my gallery or still opens in LG editing app?
Well.. Works fine on E975–10b EUR.
I really dont know why, but my phone has an extreme long name, longer than that above

@tdiddy1987 I would say it wouldnt work with the ones that doesn't have. If u have the chance to try it... do it. But my guess is that it won't, the modification just makes something that is there invisible, so if its not there natively it wont be able to show it.
@LOCKDOC_UA it will still open in the LG app, QSlides apps will work perfectly, it just wont show the icons in there. You can take the screenshot (LG memo) holding vol up+vol up and it will open it in the LG app Or you can use the Jelly bean native feature, power+vol down. which will save it to the gallery.

I dont really hate the Q-slide apps although I have no use for it. But it's nice to see it gone and have more space for the notifications!
I think LG did great on their notification bar. I went from rooted custom rom back to root stock rom just for the ease of use of the notification bar!
Is it possible to remove qslide apps from notificatio without unlocking bootloader.
Im rooted but i dont want to unlock bl.

Stock LG Keyboard [deodexed]

I know some people have been wanting to use the stock lg keyboard on some roms but have been having crashing problems. This is the stock keyboard working fine. Except the touch sounds and haptic feedback, I'm going to try to see if I can fix that. Anyway, I've tested this on Lifeless v14 only. If anybody tests it on other roms with success let me know.
Drop this into system/app and fix the permissions and reboot. Zip is not flashable
Edit: http://www.mediafire.com/?77xptx7aa7ax8x4
You must have the xposed framework to make the keyboard work.
I've tested on stock deodexed, didn't work.

Force closes right after choosing it, it shows in the language and keyboards menu though. This is an ongoing issue with trying to deodex this keyboard, I believe the issue is in the classes.dex files.

I know. But as far as I know it should close on every deodexed rom. That's why lifeless and imperium don't include it. But it works for me on lifeless. I wish somebody on imperium would test it. So I can see if maybe I'm just lucky, or a stock deodex won't work.

Let us know when u find out, I forgot to tell u the the apk is named LGEIMEbin, and its supposed to be LGEIME, not that it helps to name it correctly but fyi, I will be looking at this as well but so far any deodexing will cause the app to not work on my end, and once deodexed there are a whole bunch of string errors when decompiling the app, hence the issue has to be with the classes.dex file as that's the one that gets added to the file when the app is deodexed, the classes.dex are the odex files in the apk.

Really? Darn I would have thought maybe the systemui had something to do with it. I really didn't stray too far off from stock lifeless. Just changed the lgsystemui and lgsettings. And maybe the apks in the framework folder. But I don't remember if I put them back to the original or not as they seemed to make no difference.

Would love to see the stock keyboard deodexed for 4.1.2. I just created a custom conversation skin pack (still waiting to make ten posts before I can post links) but with the keyboard that is on lifeless it feels like it's way too bulky and takes up too much of the screen and I want to see my HQ backgrounds in all their glory. Also, the stock keyboard allowed me to path off of the screen and add a bit more control to swiped words.

Hi can anyone port the stock messaging app from the LG G2 to our devices? TIA

I tried, due to the theme differences and it uses info from the SystemUi, it fails, I cannot figure out why. I do have the LGMusic.apk from the G2 working now.
...on top of a mountain...and you're not invited!
I'd also love to see this since LG's messaging app is my favorite at current. I heard that it had Qslide support??? There are also a few other G2 apps that work on the G pro as well. I was able to get the file browser with qslide support working, along with the gallery and keyboard from G2. If anything though, definitely would like to see an updated messager.
Yeah, I got the multiphoto working too. I am having to use root explorer to install the .apk's, they will not flash.

GEL Launcher for Moto G

EDIT: Google Now Launcher is official on Google Play! Unfortunately, you need GPE Moto G to get it. Otherwise you can simply download the .APK, it will still work on standard Moto G. According to XDA you need 4.4.2 to actually get it to work though, but maybe it does work on 4.3? I'm not sure. Here it is!

Hi everybody! This is the Google Experience Launcher from nexus devices and i found an APK that works with our Moto G.
I posted this because i read around the 4.4 ota threads and some people didn't like the regular stock launcher and they wanted the google experience launcher instead.
Well, here it is! :good:
Works on KitKat AND Jellybean! Though i'd use it on KitKat so the experience feels better :good:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...once-you-get-your-kitkat-update-apk-download/
Here is the link! All you need to do is to download it and then just install the APK! Works perfectly on the Moto G.
Also saying "Ok Google" works perfectly.
All credit goes to android police for the APK and Google for the launcher. :good:
An addendum to your post: It will also work on Android 4.3. I used it on my HTC One with CM 10.2 and CM 11 and my Moto G with stock 4.3 and 4.4 and it works perfectly on both versions.

Done
Thanks for uploading this! Interestingly, and sadly, I noticed the dialer doesn't include the KitKat "busines search" feature. This is something I would have used a lot, so I'm sad to see it not included. It's evidently a problem on the MotoX as well, so Motorola must be leaving the feature out of its KitKat builds for whatever reason.
GEL is great, I like how I get to choose how many home screens & choosing widgets/wallpaper the old school way. One thing I do miss is having the perm shortcut to the Google play store visible in the appdrawer

If anyone is interested, the touchless control "hotword" feature does work. I can say "ok google" on home and speak a command. Under Google Settings > Voice, Language must be set as English (US) - English (UK) does not work. The 'Hotword detection' option should be available there.
I habe the problem that the icons are not really sharp when I use the Google experience launcher.

From my understanding that's because it was made for nexus 5 with a bigger screen and better pixel density. Since our screens are smaller, it makes the icons larger and not as sharp.

Anyway to keep the GEL and get the icons smaller and sharper? Kinda ruins it for me .. Although the main reason I wanted this was for the improved dialer.

Regarding icons:
Xposed module - Unicon - Icon packs for all launchers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEGy9UZ3I4Y
Confirmed working on Moto G running GEL. As mentioned in the video, only certain themes are compatible. Stark works fine and free theme Black.
There is an article on Forbes.com suggesting GEL will be officially available for all devices at some point in the future:
While the hack to apply GEL to your device is simple, the fact Google keeps updating it to work increasingly smoothly on an ever wider variety of devices indicates it will soon become an official option for all Android handset owners.
Should this happen it will be a key moment for the future of Android. It gives users who want the stock Android experience the option to have it without being forced to buy a Nexus or ‘Google Play Edition’ device yet it should not alienate manufacturers who can still sell their devices with their own skins as differentiators. In fact GEL may even see manufacturers up their game as many third party skins for Android are poorly coded and slow down the user experience. With an option to dump them for a stock Android experience at any moment this tardiness is unlikely to continue for long.
