[Q] HTC Incredible 2 - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

need help. I have a HTC Incredible 2 and followed a meticulous way to unlock the boot loader and flashed the clockworkmod recovery. Everything worked fine until I tried to flash cyanogen 10. I think the phone may be bricked because it will only rebooot to the white HTC screen. I have tried instructions and videos on youtube but I cannot figure out what to do. I did this with s-on. I have tried the RUU flashes or PG32IMG.lzip but again I cant get antwhere. Now I cant get it unlocked after the relock and it will not recognize the device in adb but does in fastboot. Anyway, will someone please help me either get back to stock or hopefully flash a new Rom to the phone. I am also new to XDA so I dont even know if this is where to post to get help.Thank you and I strongly look forward to receiving a response and help.[/B]:crying:

Droid Incredible Brick [Evil Brick]

Hey guys....
So my Droid Inc got bricked. A evil brick though. Funny thing is it got bricked before i ever rooted or messed with it in anyway. It just bootloops forever. Ive tried
1. RUU
2. PB...IMG....Many of them
They flash successfully, but same bootloop.
So i took it a step further
1. HTC Dev Unlocked (idk if their unlocking can be considered as legit, but anyway...) from fastboot (only way to unlock bootloader from fastboot i guess, or else i would of tried unrevoked...)
2. Then flashed clockwork from fastboot.
3. Wiped absolutely everything multiple times from recovery
4. Flashed CM7 in recovery....same bootloop
another step further
1. Put recovery.img in adb folder and and tried to "fastboot boot recovery.img" and flash CM7 like that (because If im not wrong htc dev unlock restricts kernel flashing but this circumvents it, or does it...)
2. After yet another bootloop, tried fixing permissions, reflashing CM7 again, then fixing permissions again
Nothing . Sometimes ittl bootloop the CM7 boot animation, sometimes ittl get stuck at HTC Incredible screen forever. Tried another stock rom also...
Any ideas lolll?
Ruu
Fastboot flash recovery
Flash su binary thru recovery
See if you can boot.
If you can boot download and install busybox
Wipe and flash a rom
I think the issue may be your not installing su before flashing a rom, or will it not boot on stock either? Idk just throwin stuff out there. Sounds like you have done everything right so far

Is there an SD card in the phone? You know, in case you were just storing everything on the internal storage.
Anyway, I think some ROMs interact with the SD card on bootup, and that can cause some issues. Try reformatting the card and see if it makes a difference.
Just a shot in the dark here but its a distinct possibility you're not bricked at all but you have a hardware failure.I had this same issue on not one but two separate Incredibles and come to find out it was simple hardware failure.I went so crazy trying to figure it out after I thought I had bricked the second one that I paid a family friend who is actually an engineer for htc to look at them.I shipped them to him and after a few days the answer came through.Hardware failure.I thought one maybe but two hardware failures? And it was.Processor failed on both of em.

If your bootloader is unlocked, just fastboot flash cwm recovery, flash su thru recovery, then do a full wipe and install a rom.
Thanks for your reply. I have tried that and it didn't work. Pardon my ignorance but I downloaded cwm recovery and renamed to the zip and flashed with ad card, formatted fat32. Recognized and went thru with the blue bar, the parsed after that it did not attempt to reboot, but went back to regular screen? Did I miss something. I was forced to get another phone cuz my dincs been down Went with the rezound but really want my dinc fixed. Thanks so much for any advice I can get.

Also tried fastbooting thru adb and sd partition error. Not sure if I did it right. Could someone point me in the right direction on how to flash thru adb. Thanks

Desire boot loops and I can't get into recovery

I've been happily running CM7 for the past year and yesterday while I was browsing the phone suddenly turned off and starts bootlooping, I then tried to get into recovery to flash one of my backups but I couldn't get into recovery anymore. I can get into the bootloader (vol down, back and power key) but if I select recovery from the menu it starts bootlooping again. I was hoping someone knows what's going on.
I used revolutionary to root the phone, had clockworkmod recovery installed (don't think it was the latest version, haven't updated it since I've installed it a year ago) and was running CM7.2 (latests stable version).
I also apologise in advance because you guys must be sick of people asking what to do with a 'bricked' phone but I'm still hoping someone can help me.
You have the explanation how it all works in my signature.
Just flash recovery.img via fastboot.

Thanks for the post, I'm guessing you mean the third link? running the RUU? in that thread there is a link 'http://htcdev.com/' but that link is dead.. so I can't get it there but I will google around to see if it's somewhere else.

Not sure what link you said is dead, they all work. I meant on this one "Before Crying for Bricked Device - How Nexus One and HTC Work ".
All you need is recovery.img download it from here:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/
and flash it via fastboot.
Both your ROM and recovery are bootlooping. But importantly your bootloader is fine and therefore you can easily recover. First get your recovery in order by flashing recovery from fastboot. Thereafter when you are able to get into recovery flash your ROM in the normal manner or restore your nandroid.
Thank you both! I flashed the recovery.img and could get into the recovery mode again! it's restoring my last back up as we speak, so hopefully it's working again.
If it all work go here:
www.4ext.net
and get rid of that buggy cwm recovery.
Well.. today it started bootlooping again in the same way as described in the first post and now the method I used yesterday to fix it doesn't work anymore. If I flash a new recovery.img now and subsequently try to go into the recovery mode it starts bootlooping again... so now I'm wondering if I should just flash the RUU via pc to at least get my phone working again... do you guys think that would work?
edit: can I even run the RUU in fastboot usb?
RUU is the solution if all else fails. But only use 2.3 Android RUU. And remember to downgrade hboot first.
Before you get into that I would try :-
- Flash a different recovery and try to get into recovery. But this time dont restore your nandroid. Flash a ROM afresh.
- Remove your sdcard and try to get into recovery. Wild guess !
- Also try formatting your system, sdext etc partitions as given in Bortaks thread.
I tried flashing a different recovery (amon ra) but that also didn't work, when I tried to get into recovery mode it got stuck on the HTC boot screen (with some weird extra lines through the image).
I will try to remove the sd card.
Another weird observation, the phone doesn't seem to be charging anymore, at least... the led doesn't turn on when it's plugged in.. it get's weirder and weirder.
like handy says full wipe, wipe/factory reset, wipe dalvik and format all partitions except sdcard then do a clean install of a different rom. restoring the nandroid, u could just be restoring the problem.
edit: just read ur post bout charging, looks like HW not rom or recovery problems
Sent from my HTC Desire
yeah but the weird thing is that this started this morning, I charged it last night (when all of this stuff was already happening).
Run 2.3 ruu as fast as you can, you're on a good way to hboot or radio brick.
:banghead: constuction material guaranteed...

[Q] HTC One V VM CDMA Boot Loop Help

Hello, I am In serious need of some help.
My problem is that my device boots up to the HTC logo with the red writing then the lightning bolt shows and the short boot video plays but the sound is all distorted and cuts out half way through. Then it reboots. This is an endless and annoying cycle so I hold power + volume down and run fastboot to get the shutdown option.
Here is what I did.
I was trying to root my device so I unlocked the bootloader. I then was going to use r1-primo-cdma-superboot.zip but my computer was having trouble downloading the file and I ended up getting redirected to Tweaked Stock Boot.img I then flashed the device with fastboot and that .img file and got a broken phone as a result.
Since then I have tried many things including the RUU but I wasn't sure what one to use so I tried multiple RUU files that sounded right however I kept getting "error 115 : Unknown Error" when trying to recover.
I am more than happy to provide any information and I understand some is needed to properly diagnose the issue but I am not sure what information is needed or how to access it.
Also I downloaded PACman v15.3 primoc inyourface09.zip and flashed the kernel. Before I did that I only got the HTC boot image on startup. After flasing the kernel the boot loop included the lightning bolt and short boot video with distorted sound. I could not flash the ROM though because the "/sdcard" dir is an internal directory and the actual sd card dir is "/sd-ext" so the bootloader cant do it. I also tried sideloading the PACman.zip with "adb sideload PACman.zip" with no luck.
Sorry to just throw all this out there but I really don't know what else to do I have been trying to figure this out for 3 days straight lol so I look forward to hearing any advice at all.

Yes I did try that but it didn't work. I think the problem is that I don't have a ROM but I also have no way of flasing the ROM to the device because the sdcard mounts as "/sd-ext" but the bootloader will only look in "/sdcard"
Thanks anyway lol
You can't access the recovery? (if you didn't flash a recovery, download one, cwm or twrp and flash it via fastboot) if you can access it it will let you install roms

I can access the recovery via the bootloader but as I mentioned the bootloader tries to find the .zip file in "/sdcard" and my sdcard mounts to "/sd-ext" also when I try to sideload via adb all I get is the adb help screen. Its like adb sideload <filename.zip> isn't the right command.

Sorry but this sdcard and sdext is confusing, access the recovery and try to install zip from sd card (or sd ext), always put the roms in your micro sd, if from the recovery you can see the rom, then you have no problem at all. Once you install the rom, you go in the bootloader and flash the kernel, but not from the recovery, you flash it via fastboot.

Ok this makes sense. So from what I can tell the device was soft bricked and the /sdcard would not mount. I saw a fix that required the stock recovery but I couldn't get it to work however I did fix the issue by flashing the TWRPrecovery.img and formatted to ext3. Now I can flash ROMs but they keep bootlooping.
The new ROM boots up and about 2 minutes after everything is done it reboots. I have tried a few different ROMs and always wipe the data and everyhting but I cant find any answers.
Any Ideas?

What Rom did you use
what Rom did you use that finally worked? Or did you just use a working backup.
As far as I can see, no rom has a radio yet for 1.0.0.0928.

You need an OTA kernel. I will do some digging and try to dig one up. I am assuming you are primou since you are using hellboy?
cant boot into recovery
Hi, dont know if im posting this in the right section, but i have my one v rooted and the bootloader unlocked. i flashed the boot.img over and it was successful. i at first kept getting the phone with the triangle and red exclamation mark then after using the all in one tool kit i recieved after trying to boot into recovery the white htc start up screen with "this build is for development purposes only". i have cwm and twrp on the phone and tried to flash the cwm boot.img if im not mistakin. i just need to know why i would be getting this and what steps i may have missed in the process would be helpful. thank you in advance.

[Q] Having trouble with recovery after applying S-Off

New member here, so please do not burn down my house if this questions has already been asked.
I recently went through the steps of the S-Off for my HTC One on Verizon (thanks beaups and jduck)! Everything went perfectly during the process. While it says my phone is unlocked, when trying to go into my recovery to flash a rom, it goes to the white HTC screen and then to a blank screen and then just boots up into the Verizon screen. I installed TWRP and tried to go through recovery this way, and it still is not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What process did you take to get TWRP installed?
It sounds like your recovery didn't install correctly.

After getting S-Off for my one, i also tried to use TWRP. I followed all the steps, but it wouldn't work, kept getting stuck at Entering Recovery or whatever.. Ended up trying clockwork, and it worked. Not sure what the problem was, but you should try cwm if you're not absolutely set on twrp
Are you guys getting twrp from the thread in the original development section or somewhere else. curious if you got the wrong version or a bad copy.
