I've searched all over, but haven't found anything specific to this. I have a rooted e980 with a stock rom and CWM. It's been running great for a couple of months. I woke up this morning and it was on the CWM start screen. I figured it reset overnight and somehow got there. Anyway, I can't get it out of CWM. I've rebooted, battery pulled, and even restored several backups I had. They all complete successfully, then the phone reboots and goes right back into CWM. I even went and installed an old backup of a Carbon ROM I had, and it does the same thing: stays in CWM.
Any ideas? I don't want to keep screwing with it and really brick it.
I had the same thing happen to me as well...I tried restores...factory resets and nothing would work...the only option I had was to return stock using lg flash tools...you will lose everything on the internal sd...but the phone was up and running in about fifteen minutes...reroot...install cwm... after that I store everything on the external sd including my cwm backups... hope this helps...

Thanks. Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to have to do. Did you already have a copy of the stock rom? I'm downloading it now and it's taking forever...
I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660 and this latest stock tot file from this post ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2361928 it works perfectly...

It worked! Thanks! However, I had to use that same TOT file you linked. The I downloaded the stock rom 3 times and none of them worked, the extracted TOT did though. For future readers of this, some observations:
I used the TOT linked above by MythicBlue
The first time I tried flashing with the LG Flash Tool, it failed at 31 seconds, so I tried again and...
It failed again at the very end, however my phone was already fixed and rebooted, so you may need to try it again.
In the lg flash tool, check the box that lets you manually add the .dll file
the box directly beneath it is for the TOT file.
I hope my frustrating Saturday might help someone else.
My e980 did the same thing, had to use lg flash tools to get back to stock.
Anybody know what caused our phones to do this?

So yesterday I traded my Nexus 7 tablet for a LG Optimus G. I rooted it, unlocked bootloader using a .jar software the trader provided me. Everything went well, but since I have no internet on my old Dell running XP, I had to use other means to flash TWRP recovery. Something didn't go right and my phone was bricked. So the guy I traded with was nice enough to come all the way back to me, and give me a KDZ file he found on the internet to restore it using the KDZ Firmware Update from LG. Took me a while to work it but it fixed my phone, only issue now is the software version in Software Information is now E97310f and won't let me update. It used to be LS970 so on ZVB. All my Sprint apps are missing, each time I restart the phone it says Unfortunately software update has stopped. In general, I'm guessing this was not for a Sprint LGOG.
Any ideas on how I can return it back to normal? I plan on connecting it with Sprint and want it to have their crappy bloatware.

I'll try using it, but have no idea how it will revert me back to my LS970 ZVB version directly from E97310f
no good
Nothing there could really help me. And now that I'm considered a E973, drivers are a whole different story, fastboot mode seems to no longer exist, all I can do is get into some sort of useless recovery mode. This is a nightmare. This stock version is bad in performance. I feel like the device is clocked at 1.2 instead of its meant to be 1.5. What the heck am I to do?

I'm going with that, but I have never used the LGNPST so I'm a bit stuck. I downloaded a .bin from there, grabbed the LGNPST software from a different site, and now I'm trying to figure out how to combine the two. And the recovery screen isn't like the regular "use the volume and power button" recovery, its just a white window with a two arrows making a circle type recovery that they call "Recovery Mode" and has no particular function other than to hold power for 8 seconds to reboot normally.
Okay so I figured out how to use LGNPST but I seemed to have flashed some other type of incorrect object. The bin I used made my LGOG boot up with the same fast boot and TWRP recovery as my Nexus 7 had. Aka the boot is now Google with the unlocked symbol beneath. Now when I try to flash the old incorrect KDZ file from the E97310f, no good. So my problem went from OK to just plain worse. I'm looking to find the correct teenybin necessary in order to then try to flash the ZV8's ZDK file. Now my device is really bricked with a TWRP and a locked boot loader. Isn't that sweet (sarcastically)
Sent from my LG-LS670 using xda app-developers app
Also forgot to mention each time I use LGNPST the device boots at 67% leaving the rest incomplete, then shoots up to 85%. Perhaps its why the KDZ no longer works. I'm guessing using LGNPST was bad from the beginning. Should've stuck to finding the original KDZ instead.

That's just what lgnpst does. You should not be using a kdz. You should be using either zv9.bin or zvb.bin. if you're going to use Sprint. The bins are in the same place I led you to for lgnpst.

Well you were quite right in a way! Thanks! This will sound crazy, but I used the LGNPST to flash the alternative LS970 bin provided. It gave the fast boot mode, Google boot, and TWRP 2.5, unlike the last one I mentioned that wouldn't let me use the ZDK file. So what I did was I tried pulling the same trick used to push a zip file to my Nexus 7 when I accidentally wiped everything. It was a bit of a crazy stunt, but I used the Nexus 7 Toolkit 5 to push a custom ROM I downloaded here on XDA thru TWRP. I had tried before on the last bin I flashed and no good. Tried again and it actually pushed the file. From there I used TWRP to install the zip and well here I am writing this from my new ROM. The info shows LS970. The XDA app as well as you can see below. Had to reroot it using the ZV9/ZVB Universal Root as GIAO would said my device is unsupported. Not quite sure if the boot loader is unlocked though. I'll probably stop messing with this thing here before I make it any worse. Thanks alot
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
GAIO is outdated, but a least you're rooted. And unlocked too if you were able to flash a ROM. It sounds like you used a teeny bin to get going. Not zv9 or zvb.bin. You should be good to go.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Yeah it was all working perfectly, until yesterday where I turned it off last night as I've done each night since fixed, but this morning, no boot. Now no matter how many different roms I try to flash from it's SD card, or which different teenybin I flash, it won't fix the situation. Im guessing it's a security issue, although I did nothing really to provoke it. Any idea how to fix it or completely format everything including TWRP and the fastboot altogether?
Sent from my LG-LS670 using xda app-developers app
Actually, never mind...the thing randomly decided to boot after deleting some files thru TEEPee. Coincidence is that yesterday I downloaded FreeGee, it didn't detect my device as a LS970, and it left behind a file. When I recalled that thought and deleted the file, ta da. Works fine....

Hello all
I unfortunately had to get a replacement for my S3 because the charging port got screwed up.
I tried to root the phone by installing CWM and it seemed to go fine. I did this with Odin using qbking77's methods and files.
I went to look for my zip file to flash and I could find no zip files at all.
It kept saying that E won't mount and stuff like that.
I had a stock recovery tar file for my GalaxyS3 from qbking77 that I used before to get to stock recovery for updates
I flashed it with odin and it said it flashed fine.
Phone seems to be working fine.
I went back to make sure it was there and it showed the little android guy with his heart spinning and then turning red and he died!
Several error messages came up in red.
Anyone ever hear about this and what did I do wrong?
I am sure I used the files I have used for my Galaxy before.
The phone still works so far thankfully!
Any advise and help would be appreciated.

The issue is because of a change that was made to the Newer Devices. Use one of the Recoveries from THIS THREAD.

I am hoping that this means that I haven't fried that part of my phone and I can still install a recovery. Are these recoveries that I could use to root my phone or custom recoveries that I can revert to to get over the air updates. Thank you very much for your help you guys. Yes you can still use these Recoveries. I doubt you " fried " your device. Use these Recoveries in the Root process where you would use the older ones. Yes you can Revert them Back.
Then how can I revert back to get over the air updates? The stock recovery that I flashed showed the little Android guy had died..

From what I read you have to have a recovery to flash this.. I have no recover... And CWM won't let me do anything... That's my problem.. This new style of phone won't let me put on a functional recovery.. Does that make sense?

Greetings. First off, know this isn't my first time around this merry-go-round. Jacked up my phone something good some months ago, got it working. Kept whining about needing to update the profile. Well, I locked it down hard enough that whatever app it was calling when I told it to update must've been frozen. So I did a factory reset on it.
Whoops. THAT was a mistake.
I've tried a couple different things,
Tried flashing the LS970ZV7_02.SV7_02.P25006 file onto the device.... gets to 5%, MAYBE 7%... doesn't pass it. (even after letting it attempt for ~20 minutes) ONCE it made it to the 67/85% mark, and seemed to work, but it's been quite cranky. Thinking everything was happy I put some files onto the internal storage, and attempted to switch up to CM....
On the device already, I've got the 10/5 CyanogenMod nightly files, so I wipe the device, install that.. and I can boot into CM no problem... but I don't have data or Wifi....(voice/sms seems to work though)
Attempt to flash LGLS970SPR-ZV[9 or B]-Stock files, No love.
Tried to flash LS970_TeenyBin[SBL_Unlock], works like a charm.. gives me my recovery rom, flashes within ~30 seconds.
Insult to injury, when I'm in CM, I can't get the phone to talk via ADB, but it does via recovery (have the latest ADB, installed yesterday), and when it's in TWRP, I can't seem to PUSH or SIDELOAD files of any size...
Even tried updating the LG Drivers from
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN38AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.8.1
to
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN310AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.10.1
So right now, I can get into CM after TeenyBin.... but data doesn't work, making it a very pretty feature phone.
I can't seem flash back to stock, and i've even tried the Optimus_v2 rom, it won't install via TWRP.
Anyone got any tricks I might've overlooked?
Here's a snippet of Logcat when trying to use Wifi on CM. Keeping in mind that other devices can associate, and this very device could when it was briefly stock as well. My searches for what those reasons/status codes might mean have come up for naught though.

It seems that you might not have installed the ZVB/ZVC modem. I had a hard time following your post. Sorry.
In the FAQ is the number to the modem in CM. I can't remember it off hand. In stock it's 1690
The modems are in the teeny bin thread.
Try that, then either flash teeny bins again, or use the zvb/zvc bins.
Zvb/zvc bins might be your best option. If you can wipe in TWRP prior to LGNPST you'll save your SD. If you wipe after, or in stock recovery you'll lose SD.

Yup. ZV7, ZV9, and ZVB/ZVC, have their own modems. To run JB we have to run the ZVB/ZVC modem.
I saw that he flashed back to zv7, but nothing about successfully flashing ZVB/ZVC. That's why I'm thinking its a modem issue.

Sounds like you're doing too much at once.
Just LGNPST ZVC or ZVB. That will give you a base to work from.
Then do your mods.

I would LOVE to... that's one of the problems. I was able to successfully LGNPST once, and now it's getting hung up between 5-7% (when not using Teenybin
and holy hell... you're my new hero... put in the ZVC Radio...and at the very least i've got Wifi working again under CM...That alone gives me a leg-up over the other problems.
Any links for figuring out how to get the JB ADB to authenticate (since that doesn't seem to have happened)?

I wonder if your partitions got messed up? I think those Ting apn's might be getting in the way also.
LGFlashtool might be an option to use.
As far as ADB, check the drivers, reboot both phone and computer, and see if that helps.

Hi there, yesterday I was trying to flash carbon onto my E980 and it kept saying it failed, so I re-read the installation guide and it had said to wipe everything from the phone and i guess my stupidity struck... I decided that I should wipe clean my phone, data and all.. Originally I had a backup of the stock rom just rooted and i forgot to transfer that to my external. SOOO now I'm kinda stuck with no OS and unable to flash any roms.. I was wondering if anyone out there had a TWRP backup of their stock ROM that I could potentially restore through the Recovery. I tried using the LG Flashtool to try and flash the stock ROM back on but all it did was stay at Ready!! even after I plugged in my phone.
Keep trying with the flash tool. Sometimes you need to unplug the phone a couple of times. Sometimes once. This will be you best option.

Question though, am I supposed to get the LG USB/Parallel Lock Key is not detected error when i try to load up the LG flashtool 1.5?
When you extract LGFlashtools there should be two dll files. change the name of the csmg_reg_key.dll to csmg_reg_key.bak
When I did that, I was able to use the megalock.dll that loads the tool. Also don't forget to change the date to prior of August 2012 and be off the internet. Follow the instructions provided in the OP of the LGFlashtool link. I didn't provide it here because I assume you do have it or we wouldn't be doing this.

OK so, after i changed the csmg_reg_key.dll to csmg_reg_key.bak i got an error on the flashtool that said "The DLL for Authentication is not found!!" and flashtool doesnt load up.. I did download the flashtool from the OP's mirror so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it but unfortunately its still not working...
Did you extract the dll from this link to that folder?

Okay so I extracted everything in the LG Flashtool rar file into my C:\LG\LGFlashTool folder along with whatever installed from the setup file, i got it to load without giving me the usb error and what not. Now I tried to flash it again, but it just stays at Ready!! and nothing else.... I've even let it sit for a long time in hopes for it to pick up the phones plugged in and start flashing but nothing at all. Am I doomed with no way to go back to stock? Not gonna lie... even though I finally got the phone to flash to CyanogenMod 10.2, i still miss the stock features of the phone.
You might need to unplug and plug the phone in, wait for a few seconds, and If that doesn't work, do it again. Sometimes several times. Make sure you have the drivers installed and you change the the date. You're getting closer.

Hi all,
mt LG Optimous Pro G E988 has been working fine for 6 months,
But over night there was a OTA update, and now my phone is "stuck"
I say stuck because it will boot with the message
"Secure Booting Error"
"Cause: Device Unlock!! So Boot Sucess!!!"
then it goes into my CWM Recovery....
I had rooted with cwm
Here is where I am having the problem. It never fully installed the OTA update, because I had a boot loader installed.
I had tried to wipe everything and do a factory update, but no use.
I also tried using LG Mobile Support Tool to reflash the factory ROM
as per: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45953380&postcount=1
Yesterday when I tried it, the LG f;lash tool said it was not able to connect to the LG Server
But today the program is saying there is not enough power and may cause a problem.
I have just charged the phone for 9 hrs straight. I don't believe that it's undercharged
Is there a way for me to flash the phone with the original ROM without connecting to LG's server (using their Support Tool)?
Please help.
Thanks
Since you already have CWM installed I hope you have a backup which you can restore. Backup your apps and settings using tools like super backup or titanium. Then reload the JB 4.1.2 kdz from pc. You can look for the steps on xda forums. Once that is done successfully you will loose root. Then try official update via OTA. Or you can try to update via pc tool. Someone already shared the kitkat kdz on xda forums. You can try that too. All the best.

Unfortunately I do not have the backup anymore.
I also tried updating via the LG Mobile Support Tool, which did not work as it gives an error about not being able to connect to the server
I tried the guide from Madmack "[GUIDE] [E980] Fix soft bricks. Flash back to stock using LGFLashTools"
But I have not been able to locate the TOT file for the international E988
I tried to use the one he provided and it did not work (yea I'm desperate to try anything now)
Anyone out there have a TOT file for the international E988?
Or is there a way to crate one from the KDZ files?
please help
thanks
Not sure why you need a tot file. Kdz is fine. Look in xda for guides on loading the kdz file. That is a sure way of unbricking your phone. If it is still bricking after kdz load go jnto stock recovery and clear all caches and reboot. Most guides i have used mention this as an optional step.

Same thing happened to me with the value update. You have no choice but to reflash stock with the lg flash tool. I flashed mine with the telcel flashware but got brave enough before the kitkat update to flash back to att with .tot file .You should be fine once you reflash stock

Here is the link to the tutorial ... http://www.cellrabta.pk/2013/10/how-to-flash-big-kdz-files-optimus-g-gk-g-pro-g2-and-others/.
Note that it is not my own but a tutorial that I used successfully for my phone multiple times.
And here is the link to the XDA forum discussion that has links for the KDZ downloads ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438088
Hope this helps.
