So my $75 upgrade (used to be 150, which is bs) just opened up. I need some clarity on how the pricing works. Is this $75 off a new 2-year contract price? Or $75 off a full retail price and I still have to sign a 2-year contract? If the last one is the case, do I even get a 2-year contract price when my current contract expires?
I believe its $75 off retail price and to sign a 2 year contract as well.
75 off retail.

You may be able to get them to make a one time exception and qualify you for a full $150 upgrade if you are the main/primary line. That's what retention is doing for me but I'm waiting for the gs2.

Wow. That sucks then, I have to sign another contract to pay $500? No thanks... Might as well wait until my contract expires to get a new contract price...or will they even do that?

Yes if your contract expires you can get the new contract price.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Your contract and your upgrade eligibility don't necessarily match. You can be out of contract and still not be eligible for an upgrade. However, there will probably be more flexibility if you're out of contract as Sprint would want to find a way to keep you as a customer.
The $75 upgrade isn't much of a deal, in my opinion. If you use it, you're signing a new 2 year contract, and you're pushing your $150+rebate upgrade out another year.
If you're not Premier Gold and you want to upgrade more often than every two years, I think it makes more sense to pay full price for the phone (or find a deal from ebay/craig) every other year.
Sprint is not flexible at all on upgrades right now. Don't waste your time it will only make you mad.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Sprint is very flexible actually .. Just call 877 775 4886 that's the retention direct line and tell them how your upgrade was suppose to be full and now its not since they changed the premier things... I got mine moved up 10 months if the first person you talk to doesn't help out ask to speak to their supervisor or call back QUOTE=DirtyShroomz;16441394]Sprint is not flexible at all on upgrades right now. I called and tried the to get the full $150 and they basically blew me off..Something about my phone is not THE main line. The contract is in my name and I added my mother and daughter but for some reason apparently my mosm phone is the main line..How the hell does this happen?
A supervisor told me that there isn't anything that can be done and some other stupid crap and if I wanted to upgrade now it would have to be on my mothers line..Well I don't want to start a 2yr contract over on her line cause she will be going to prepaid next year when the contract is up.
So my only choice is to cancel my contract and pay $100 then sell my EVO and move to another carrier..
Screw Sprint..
I was able to get a supervisor to approve an upgrade overide. My $150 was supposed to be 8/01/11 before they changed they downgraded me to silver. I haven't used the upgrade yet because I haven't decided on a phone but I did get it approved. The thing that sucks is that it can only be with Sprint directly. Can't use your supervisor approved upgrade at another store such as Best Buy or Walmart where the prices are better.

Do you know how much money is lost on every subsidized phone? Early upgrades kill profit and sometimes programs are stopped. What good is a provider if it's not making any profit and can't buy new phones or expand its network?

There's no way. She's basically saying that the 1 year price is less than the 2 year price. I think we all know that's not true.
Maybe the razr or nexus with free accessories, our 50 dollar price drop,I mean something has to go down right?
Sent from my SCH-I510
Maybe on black friday? If not Verizon, I'm sure someone will have a deal. Other than that, I'm guessing the prices will remain the same throughout the first month. Costco always gives away free accessories and discounts, but I don't know if you have a membership.
The thing is that I have to upgrade through Verizon.there the only ones that do the 1 year early upgrades

Might want to double check that... my understanding of their new plans is they got rid of New Every 2 back in January, and in April-ish got rid of 1 year contracts. It's either 2 year subsidized price, or full retail.

That's one thing that frustrates me about T-Mobile. They're ALWAYS doing amazing deals for new customers but never do much of anything for existing customers. I want to upgrade my wife's line and I can get a cheap standard flip phone for free or pay $100 for an old outdated MyTouch Q (which seems like an absolute waste of using an upgrade) or pay ~$300 for a SGS3 for her.

I've been with T-Mobile for 10 years and they have been fantastic. They offered me the 10gb data plan with mobile hotspot for $30 a month today. I'm still thinking about it, I have the new truly unlimited for $30 a month right now. I'm 10 days outside the 14 days you have to get the insurance and the customer service representative told me that today but still gave me the insurance for being a premium customer.

I'm soo thinking about calling them back about that deal. They said there only offering it for a short amount of time for premium customers. I hit 7gb last month. I just like knowing that I have unlimited data. Can we not tether like we could with the S II? I member all I did was delete tethering provision and it worked. But they did say with the truly unlimited plan tethering is not allowed.

me too man... Oh well, I LOVE THIS PHONE :good:
I just added a second line to my account last Wed, and i got the S3. Friday i see the deal online and am pretty pissed that i just paid $348 for the phone and not 2 days later its $99. I call them and get tossed around all weekend and no help on being compensated for the difference. The only thing they said i could do was to send it back wait for the return process to go through, then buy a third line for that price. Complete Bull**** that they cant just credit me the difference(not including the rebate). The return process itself would take a week i was told, so i would be without a phone for 1-2 weeks. I am just shocked at their process for this. I love the S3 that i have, but come on.

The main monitoring occurs on the network not the device level. Essentially they are monitoring the user agent of the outgoing traffic.
One easy way to circumvent their tethering blockage is to use a 3rd party tethering app and change your user agent on your internet browser to android or iPad/iPhone. Both Chrome and Firefox have extensions that easily let you change your user agent.
Confirmed working for me on the unlimited 4G plan using Chrome and WiFi tether.

It really depends on how long you have been with the company. It has been my experience after 12 years with them that they will bend over backwards for you. I got my note 2 for 100 bucks and a credit for a 100 bucks off my bill, so its like I got it for free. High five that!!!!! Woot!!!!

Also got a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 all for $600 after my S3 return I paid $40 out of pocket. There is an open enrollment period for current customers, you need to have a phone on EIP and thats it.

So with Tmobile you can pay an extra $10 month and when a new phone is released you have to trade up the phone that is on the EIP.. sounds like a rip to me. But to each his own.
Let me know if I have this right. I am on a classic plan. When the Note 3 comes out, I go in and pay $200 to cancel my classic plan, then buy the Note 3 and sign up for jump!. Then sell my Note 2 to pay for all of this. The only problem I see is that I have had the Note 2 for 9 months and it is still the only phone I want.

It's really more of an easy way to always have the latest and greatest. It's about the same price as selling your current phone and buying at full price. If you keep your phone in perfect condition and can sell it for top dollar than that is a better deal but a lot of hassle. I personally love this plan.

This is good but would rather have timely updates to continue to make my phone feel new. My only concern is this could be an incentive for t mobile not to push updates. And if the carrier isn't pushing them the oems may decide it not necessary to update despite the fact they are almost always a year or more behind what aosp is. I mean 4.3 is around the corner and an we are still on 4.1.

I think that T-Mobile is being pretty generous. They are basically buying any phone back for $360 bucks ($20x18months). Which can't be a money maker for them. They are probably hoping that they can sell the refurbs real cheap and get more people on monthly plans. 0 down and $15 a month and they only break even.

They do push out updates for a lot of the flagship devices. Hence the gs2 started on gingerbread and now has jellybean(I would bet money that's where it will end) I am well aware that unless something radically changes it will always be slow especially since they are dependent on oems. My concern is that this could make things worst. Unless Samsung starts pushing their own os (what ever it's called) and bypasses the carriers through kies like how apple does it through itunes. In the end I am happy with touchwiz and am looking more forward to an updated touchwiz rather than an updated android version.
