[Q] Wi-Fi Stuck on 'Turning On' - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
so I've been using my Xperia Arc S for over a year with no problems but recently when I try to turn on the wifi it becomes stuck at 'turning on'. The same thing happens with the bluetooth. Sometimes when I restart the phone it works but most of the time it doesn't I've tried factory resetting it and it worked fine for a bit but then became stuck again. I'm running stock 4.0.4 rooted.
It started happening when I went overseas where my sim card didn't work and I had to change the time zone manually in settings. I read somewhere that this happened to someone else who did the same but there was no solution found. Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks :good:

It may be hardware problem or software. If you tried factory reset then you should try a new Rom. If problem keeps going, your phone may be the problem, you should bring it to repair service for diagnosing.
Hope it help!

Repair firmware with PC Companion.

I tried repairing it with PC Companion but still no luck. I guess it may be a hardware problem like motlanvamaimai suggested.

Same Q

Hey guys.. I faced similar issue in my AMOI 820 based Indian local device Micromax (rooted + custom kernal)
I fixed this stuck wifi problem by uninstalling Google apps in system by removing them using Titanium back up + and again installing them from playstore if needed.. Hangouts(in my case) if it's a system app after getting updated is the culprit .. Try removing it and reboot and test it yourself..

HTC Desire Reboot Loop Problem

I have an interesting problem, kind of. Bought my phone second hand as supposedly unlocked & debranded but on boot up it after the HTC logo I get the Virgin Media logo, not really an issue though. Anyway the problem is when I switch the phone off and then switch on again it boots up fine to the home screen and then it will reboot itself and carries on doing this. i.e. boot up to home screen then reboot again continuously.
To get out of this reboot loop I have to remove the sim & boot the phone with no sim in it then switch off and insert my normal Vodafone phone sim and switch on again. after that the phone is fine until I power down and then the same thing happens.
Anybody else experienced this or got any ideas?? It came with 1.15.405.4 firmware already installed and I have tried reflashing with the same firmware using the goldcard method & it worked but the problem remains. When the sim registers on the network is when the reboot loop seems to start.
did you try reflashing it ?
hold down the side button (down) and press on at the same time.
then select erase data and press on again
if you bought it second hand, its hard to say what the previous user has done with it ...
Yep tried reflashing it, just about to reflash again with an older rom. It's just wierd that a sim card authenticating to the network would cause a reboot loop.

Maybe it's a dumb question - But I'm having some issues that doesn't seem to get solved by a factory reset - Would it be an idea to reflash it for this, so the phone gets a fresh rom?
How would I do it specifically? Do you know of a guide somewhere?

have you tried a different sim card ?
Ye tried a different sim card, boots fine and all is good till you reboot the phone and then the same happens again. Anyways flashing was a disaster this time round as I was doing it on my work pc and Symantec kicked in thinking it found a virus with adb.exe and halted the process & quarrantined the file. Now everytime I try and reflash on a different PC I get the dreaded error(110):file open error. Disconnect the phone & all I get is a black screen & HTC logo. Nice. Thanks Symantec you've just bricked my Desire!!
*UPDATE* - Fixed.
Removed the battery, left it for a few hours then reflashed on a different pc and it flashed fine. Then thought I'd try & repeat so reflashed with the older rom from here (originally used the newer rom posted on Modaco) and got the error again and again couldn't flash back to the newer. Removed the battery left for an hour and then could reflash again and get it working!! Wierd
I had the same problem.
My Solution: remove battery, remove the SIM, put battery reboot, turnoff, remove battery, put SIM, put battery, boot
first i want to excuse my bad english, hope you will undestand what i´m trying to say.
i have the same problem since a few days.
first time i notice it,was when the desire was charching and i used it a bit,it restarts again and again.so i put out the battery and wait a few minutes, than it works.
it´s also, when i use it a long time with wifi or 3G....the the phone turns off and i have the boot loop.
but when i take out my sim,it works fine.
my question is,do i need a new sim or is it a hardware problem?
does anybody know?
greetz from germany!

i have the exact same problem!! any solution? after that the phone will boot loop over and over! damn!
I had the same problem last week.
I suspected it had to do with the EXT3 partition.
Solved it by first flashing the OTA 2.2 ROM (for rooted users) as this does not use the EXT3. Then used Rom manager to recreate the EXT3.
Now all ROMs that use the EXT3 run fine!
hmmp
as long as i know, i did not install anything on my phone lately so thats the problem so far and i think tequila98 also having the same problem as me, cause when i remove my sim card the phone works fine. but ive reset my phone yesterday and not restarting so far hope this will continue.
I really wished there was a dead fix to this problem we are all having!
My problem:
My phone was running fine until a few weeks ago. There was no rebooting problems when I first got my phone (April) and when I flashed my phone for the first time (May). Happened a few weeks ago when I was browsing on YouTube where my phone suddenly restarted on it's own.
Before it was once a couple of days, now it has gotten more frequent and annoying.
I don't think the heat is the problem because I don't go on the internet much because of my data plan. I use wifi when I browse the web, youtube, etc. And I certainly don't use Google maps or any heavy duty applications. That's just what I think...
My phone rebooted 3 times today in a time span of 4 hours? I noticed that my phone rebooted itself when I use the camera to take a picture or video. Doesn't happen everytime, but that's what happened today. Also, when my phone rebooted today, my application Advanced Task Killer was automatically removed from my phone! That was weird... But I experienced another reboot even after having the app removed.
I really hope someone can find the core of this problem and fix it!
My phone is running on DeFroST 2.0b Android 2.2
My battery stats: 42% for display, 26% for cell standby, 21% for phone idle, 4% for android system, 3% for voice calls, 2% for android OS

It's probably hardware problem with motherboard. Therefore I recommend you to take your phone to repair center and they should replace mobo with new one. That's what I did and now everything is ok.
I am having the exact same problem. Seems to be related to the SIM.
But the SIM works fine in another phone.
Did anyone find any more information?
If you get random reboots its most likely ther motherboard there is a massive thread about it on the forums. You need to send it off to a HTC repair centre.
Just got this problem.
I rooted yesterday. Today I made a nandroid backup. After that the phone is in a reboot loop.
How is this possible from just and backup???
Tnx.
R
Edit:
Restored backup and is working fine again.

I will try it. Maybe the backup is not only a backup but also a remove? Strange.
I will comment if this works also for me.
EDIT: Restore helps

[Q] My DHD keeps crashing and rebooting, but only when the screen is locked...

Hello!
For some time now my phone's been rebooting itself completely random it seems. I just got it back after sending it away to get this issue fixed. Obviously the "repair" didn't really do anything at all. All they did was to flash the latest software apparently.
I got quite fed up with the crashing and rebooting stuff, and figured that it wouldn't hurt to try to flash a custom ROM, in this case I chose to root the phone and try MiUi. I had no clue wether it would solve the issue I'm having, but I figured it was worth a try. So i rooted the phone and flashed the latest version of MiUi (1.11.18).
At the start it seemed like it had worked, and had stopped the phone from crashing. But after some time I realized that the issue is still there, only difference now is that it ONLY crashes when I lock the screen with the Power-button. EVERY SINGLE TIME I do this, in a matter of minutes it will either reboot or just turn black and totally unresponsive. Only way to get it on again is to take out the battery and put it back in.
This is starting to annoy the **** out of me, so I talked to my brother for advise this morning, and he told me to wipe my Dalvik Cache. So I did, and nothing changed, the phone keeps on living it's own life.
I have absolutely no clue what info you guys might need to help me with this, but I'll start with this:
Phone: HTC Desire HD
Android-version: 2.3.7
Kernel-version: 2.6.35.14-cyanogenmod-g319b6e2
ROM: MiUi 1.11.18
Also, the motherboard's been switched once, cause of another issue that is now gone.
ANY help is appreciated, I just want to be able to use the phone normally!
EDIT: Also it seems that the phone won't reboot or crash whenever it's charging.
Sounds like a hardware/software issue your best bet is getting a replacement and re rooting .

[Q] Wifi activation => Error

Hi there,
Just wanted your point of view regarding something really strange that happened to me yesterday.
(btw, I looked it up all over the forum + google but still unabale to find a proper answer)
So basically, I droped down my phone, which crashed on the floor but nothing really serious. Ever since, every time I try and turn on the wifi, it says "Error".
I've tried rebooting it several times and still get the issue.
Do you guys think the wifi chip could have been broken? Is there any report log I could find using terminal or root explorer?
Phone specs:
Virtuous Unity v1.29.0
Android 2.3.3
Phone rooted
Bluetooth does turn on
Thanks in advance for your help
Try flashing a different rom, back up your current one first, and check out if the wifi is working without restoring any apps.
Did you ever fix this? I did the exact same thing, dropped onto hard tile. Wifi error and couldn't read data partition.
Randomly after a day or 2 it fixed itself and was fine for 2 weeks.
BUT...just happened again today. I wiped caches, reflashed ARHD, fixed all permissions. Data partition became readable again (not sure which of those fixed that) but i still get "Wifi Error" when turning wifi on.
Any help/suggestions much appreciated.

[Q] S4 mini rebooting very often!

Hi all!
First of all thanks for your work..it's awesome!!thanks to you i enjoyed my s plus until some days ago it has broken..very sad day
However i decided to move on with a more modern cel, so i decided for a s4 mini.
But since the beginning i've had lot of problems..
My phone after an original update from samsung started to freeze and reboot..more and more often..i read it could be an issue with original update so i decided to mod my phone since i've had great improvements with my old s plus..
first i installed cm11 but the phone keep rebooting and rebooting ..so i installed cm12 with android l..but the problem is still here!!
the more my phone became hot the more it reboot..it's unusable and i don't know what to do..i'm also begin to doubt it's a hw problem
my warranty is gone with all this mods..so what to do? any others has this kind of problem?
thanks if yo want to answer
People encountering this should perform a factory reset and wipe everything from the phone.
Then, perform a clean install of whichever rom you wish to use, without any additional apps.
I recently encountered an issue with Apex Launcher and a recent update. Android keep crashing and soft rebooting often.. only after a few days did I realise the launcher was the issue. Since I uninstalled the app the phone hasnt restarted once!
Mine restarts after i turn on Mobile Data + GPS for navigation..
It works for a minute and restarts.
I don't know where the problem is either. I tried to flash cm10, 11.. stock 4.2 / 4.4 and nothing seems to get me rid of the problem

Zuk z2(Plus) Wifi Issue

Hello folks!
I recently found a strange bug on my Zuk Z2(Plus).
I was running it in AICP 20170901 build along with Orbot App. I had a situation when the phone started heating up and the battery drain became faster. As I was travelling and wanted to save the last ounce of juice, I deleted Orbot, to cool down the phone as it was continuously running in the background. My phone got switched off later, but once I was able to charge it, I tried connecting it to my home Wifi network. It just kept showing "Connecting" and later "Saved", but never connected. After repeated attempts to connect, it shows "Saved". Frustrated with this, I did a clean wipe and installed a previous backup of AICP 20170901 build which I saved a few days prior to this. But to my surprise, I was again unable to connect. It kept doing the same thing.
So, I did a clean wipe and did a fresh install of AICP 20170901 build and again, the same thing kept repeating. So, I installed the stock rom to check if it might work on that, but to my luck it didn't. So, I switched back to my earlier backup of AICP, and installed Dark Moon Kernel 004.1, But again no luck.
Between multiple ROM switches, it sometimes connects to the network and doesn't connect to the internet and then gets automatically disconnected.
Is there some fix to this. I think Orbot messed up something, and I am unfortunately not that tech savvy to find out what it did. Orbot is meant to replicate Onion Router, but landed me in a soup
Please advice.

Use some other rom... Recommended crdroid latest build... Use picogapps... And try again...
The issue could be rom related and even after trying new rom the problem still persists then it could be a baseband issue...
Try the recommended rom first with complete full wipe .. Good luck
Hi,
Were you able to fix this?
I'm facing the same issue. Tried several basebands and ROMS. Also, flashed stock rom through QFIL/QPST, but the issue is still there.
Thanks,

Were you able to fix it??? How did you resolve? After three years, I faced this issue all of a sudden after I changed my phone's battery, and tried everything with software but no fix. Any possibility that it is a hardware issue? How can it be deeply inspected to find the real cause of this problem?
