I have two D710 phone here.. Both flashed with TBS4 V2.2 GB27 rom. After flashed, everything seem work fine till this morning. One of the phone I realize the 3G data Not work. 4G work fine.
Here's what I have tried
I disconnected Mobile data and enable back. Still not work
Update Profile and Update PRL.. still not work
I check the setting ---->status and see Mobile Network state show "Connecting" I reboot and battery reboot and still no work
Another phone work fine.. 3G and 4G with same Kernel and model and rom. some how a setting need to update or fix.
Try reflashing the Jellybean modem. No 3G but working 4G is indicative of a modem issue. If that doesn't work, backup or move anything you want to save to external SD (just in case, some of the one-click builds wipe out internal storage), and use the JB one-click builds located here for the correct carrier to start from scratch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903252
You have run the one-click JB install that wipes internal storage already right?
It reformats the partitions to prep the phone for JB. It needs to be done only once but I've used it when I get stuck.

Alot of ROMs are based on the FL24 ICS kernel. If your using a Custom ROM 3G wont work as it cant access the built-in 3G feature of the modem If its a Jellybean ROM trying to use a ICS Kernel. If you read the All Stock Modems thread in Android Development it mentions this. Basically saying mix-matching means no 3G indefinitely. 4G and WiMax a probability.

So I flashed Slimbean (4.3) and got no data, then Pacman 4.3 with no data. I was told to try the Blasphemy kernel and flashed Dirty Unicorns 4.3 and I still have no data.
Is it possible to have data on a 4.3 ROM at all? I know 4G isn't an option and I'm okay with that.
Thanks

I flashed EL29 custom recovery because that's what the guides all said. Is that my problem?
I flashed the FL24 modem in CWM and it didnt do anything. do i need to start over and reflash everything?
wipe, then flash modem, then flash DU then gapps and restart?
The el29 you see posted about is a safe recovery not the modem. When you say it didn't do anything, what do you mean? Did it take a minute or two to flash, or was it super quick? Or do you mean you don't have data? In the about section on your phone, for baseband does it end in el29? FI27? FL24? And yes, you can just flash a modem.

Sorry my message wasn't clear. To answer your questions, flashing the modern in CWM was fairly quick, I don't remember a delay. I still have no data and baseband says FL24.
I moved a long distance last weekend which is why I've taken so long to respond.
Do I need to just flash again? I read that mobile Odin isn't friendly with flashing modems on this device.

Are you on the freedompop service or sprint? If you still dont get 3G. You need to upgrade your phone proflie. Go to upgrade section and update profile and see you get any signal.
Apparently Dirty Uniforms 4.3 lost data. They are working on it.

Flash an ICS modem
Related
I've had no success in flashing the pre rooted .zips through clockwork. Shabby's would not boot past samsung screen for me and the other one posted in general by saladinacc had no data. When I flashed the .tar everything worked fine just had no root. Here's the way I got root.
1. Download ODIN & flash FB17 .tar from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505437.
2. Download a GB kernel with built in recovery, I used Rogue Kernel here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341564.
Download .tar and flash through ODIN. Do not try to reboot into system as it will not boot yet with the GB kernel.
3. Download SU.zip from here http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip. Boot into CWM recovery and flash su.zip. Again, do not try to reboot into system as it will not boot yet with the GB kernel.
4. Download stock FB17 ICS kernel from here http://www.mediafire.com/?f571n4e8wdhud21 and flash through CWM.
Reboot to system and you should have rooted stock FB17.
After flashing back the stock FB17 kernel you will lose clockwork.
This is just a quick and dirty work around until the devs release a pre rooted CWM zip.

thinking about giving this a try. Just one question, after Odin'ing the GB kernel, doesn't Odin Automatically try to reboot you into system? How do you stop it from doing that so you can boot into recovery and flash su...etc.?

I haven't tried yet, but can we just unselect the Auto-Reboot option in Odin? If not, just when the phone is about to reboot, hold down power and Volume Up and it should go back into Recovery.

I read that el26 is the safest way to flash like you mentioned to flash any rom and should be flashed when flashing roms.. being a newbee still tryin to figure out how that works.. right now i have no idea how i would get to cwm el26 to the rom el29 that im on..

You can flash any GB ROM with the EL29 rogue recovery unless the install instructions for a ROM says otherwise. If you're going to flash an ICS ROM use the EL26 kernel or you risk bricking.
You can use Odin to flash the EL26 kernel with CWM5 to your ROM. Make sure to put it in the PDA option of Odin and only have auto reboot checked.
You can find Odin3 v1.85 (to Odin the EL26 kernel with CWM) in the second post of this thread (the same one I linked before) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101
The EL26 kernel can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514665

That's right el29 with rogue recovery
have you tried reinstalling stock el29?
Try sfhub's el29 Odin one click, then use his auto root tool to install the el29 kernal with cwm. Before you do that, to save your data, go into recovery and do a nandroid backup.
Just so we are clear, this MAY or MAY NOT fix your issue.

I'm a bit confused here about the best way to upgrade to MA7 with the least amount of possible issues. I have a few questions that will hopefully help me clear up my confusion. I have searched thru some of the MA7 threads but can't find definitive answers. I am currently rooted running WHOMP 2.6 with TWRP recovery. Here's my questions:
Would using [ROM][RESTORE][1-13-13]Back to unrooted stock with auto flash count reset (FINAL LJC) by Billard412 to go back to stock unrooted and taking the OTA for MA7 be the way to go to get MA7 or not taking the OTA and flashing[OTA] MA7 update.zip Download from rwilco12 thru stock recovery? If so once I do that would I still be able to gain root again using [Galaxy Note2 TOOLKIT V3.0.0 SPRINT] Drivers, Backup, Root, CWM, TWRP, Flash to Stock by mskip?
If I decide not to do the above can I just flash the modem zip from [ROM][Kernel][Firmware] Stock-Rooted L900VPAMA7 Odex / DeOdex [Team WHOMP] to upgrade my baseband or do I need to also flash the kernel as well? Once I do this what will be the affects of then flashing a ROM based on LJC or LK8 be or is it even possible?
Once I do any of the above if I have any issues and assuming I can get root back if I flash a nandroid back-up of whomp 2.6 will it revert everything back to LJC if I have the modems and efs as well as the usual nandroid back-up settings backed-up thru TWRP? Or would I be stuck on MA7?
Please help me to understand.
I'm not sure what part you're worried about. I flashed MA7 and everything was fine. I have root, I can flash any ROMs, and I didn't have to do anything special.
To upgrade, use a .zip which only updates you to MA7 and does not mess with your ROM or anything else.

I used this and it worked flawlessly for going lk8->ma7 despite the file name.

1) That's ma5 not ma7.
2) There is no such thing as upgrading to ma7 or anything else without "mess with your rom". That's a nonsensical statement. Upgrading means flashing a rom which means completely obliterating it with a new replacement.
There is no equivalent all-in-one for ma7 yet like we have for ma5 and lower.
To get everything ma7, as of this moment, you need to go to stock lj1 or ljc and then flash the ma7 update.zip or take the ota. The missing parts that we don't have outside of ota yet seem to be just a tz file which may be for lte, it's not certain yet. And a new bootloader which may not matter much.
So without going back to stock you can flash rom, kernel, and modem, and it'll probably mostly be ok except maybe lte problems.
Or you can go back to full stock and take the ota or manually flash the update.zip which is the same thing. Then re-root the normal way like with cfroot. Then you'll be fully ma7 for all parts.

If I flash MA7 modem and then I nandroid from a previous nandroid that is LJC modems will I revert back to LJC or stay MA7?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
you shouldn't need to revert back to LJC and risk I root.
I went from MA5 to MA7 with no issues. Make a Nandriod backup before you do anything. Test your Nandroid to make sure it actually restores; doesn't do you any good if you can't restore from it.
Then use the files in the thread listed in the OP for MA7. Makes sure to wipe Divack, cache, and system. I flashed firmware, then modem, then rom, and last firmware. Sometimes firmware doesn't always stick, so it's just a precaution. Between flashes, wipe divack and cache. I'm old school from the Evo 4G, so it do it three times.
Other than that, if you're concerned, you can try using Voodoo Rootkeeper. Although it didn't do anything when I tried it. But I didn't lose root either. I also used the deoxidezed rom version so I can use the mutliwindow and 4-2 reboot mods.
You may want to use Titanium Backup to back up your apps and settings. There are nice batch operations. This can save a lot time. Plus, it's a good way to save your game progesses such as Angry Birds and be able to return where you were.

The Whomp Rom is in process of being updated to MA7. Why not wait for a few days and just reflash when they release the new update? That's what I intend to do. They'll explain the best way to update with the new release. Your just confusing yourself. Be patient or make a backup and experiment away. Not like you can't restore your backup.
So what does MA7 do that is so great it's worth dealing with the inevitable bugs?

Yeah I usually just wait for a reliable development team to hash through the newest leak and put it in their rom before I mess with it. If you have ever bricked a phone by jumping the gun like I have you feel me on that.
Thanks all for your input, with things like this I tend to become a nervous nelly. I went ahead and did the upgrade with no issues what so ever. I used Billards412 unroot to LJC stock unrooted, worked perfectly. I then booted into stock recovery and flashed rwilco12 MA7 update zip, which worked flawlessly. After that I used mskips toolkit 3.0 to root using option 42 and LJC tar, root aquired and now I'm back in business accept now everything is updated to MA7. Gosh I'm such a idiot, in my head I was trying to make this more difficult than it was. Again thanks you everyone for all your help.
No you were smart to make sure about everything before firing. That's why it worked.

They said the exact opposite of that. They said they did not have to revert to stock or flash the full update.zip
Perhaps that's actually what they did and they are just so fuzzy they don't even know it. That's what I was trying to nail down.
Maybe there WAS a firmware zip that I just hadn't seen yet. Unlikely but possible. So rather than say they are wrong or misguiding people I just say "where is this thing you say you flashed?"
If they don't answer then that speaks for itself If they do answer then whatever they point at determines what happens next. I figured they either were flashing the ma5 firmware, or that they thought modem = firmware.

Then use the files in the thread listed in the OP for MA7. Makes sure to wipe Divack, cache, and system. I flashed firmware, then modem, then rom, and last firmware. Sometimes firmware doesn't always stick, so it's just a precaution. Between flashes, wipe divack and cache. ....

Well, here is the link where I got the MA7 files I used: XDA Thread
It does appear I misspoke a bit. I should have used modem, rom, and kernal. It was late for me when I responded I used someone's phrasing not thinking clearly. Although, all three do make up the firmware, or at least most of it. My apologies for any confusion.
Nonetheless, the other than bad phrasing, the process should worked for me without having to revert back to LJC from being on MA5 to go to MA7. I haven't had issues with phone or connecting to the Network or using LTE.
[ROM/RESTORE] [AT&T/ROGERS/TELUS/BELL]Return to UNROOTED STOCK WITH FLASH COUNT RESET
IF YOU HAVE TAKEN THE OTA TO STOCK TW 4.3 DO NOT USE THIS!! IT WILL CAUSE A HARD BRICK!!
I'll try to keep this simple.
So here it goes, short but sweet...
This is a Single recovery flashed file restore to UNROOTED STOCK with STOCK KERNEL, STOCK RECOVERY, MODEM, and Normal System Status with a Flash Counter at 0. Basically a replacement for the odin tar method for a quick on-the-go restore. This is the go-to file for a last minute trip to the at&t store or for unbricking without the need for a pc or ODIN. Plan on selling to buy something newer? Flash this to restore your s3 to an out of the box ota-ready state for the buyer. This will do what odin does with the addition of resetting the flash count during flash. This WILL NOT touch internal storage!
To keep a custom recovery flash one from below after rom flash before rebooting into the system.
To keep root access flash this after install BEFORE rebooting into system.
As with just about any rom you'll find posted on these forums, wipe data/factory reset prior to flashing and FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK as I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone.
Special thanks to @mrksbrd for helping me bring this to the AT&T variant, @Turbojugend for helping me bring this to BELL, @FabC87 for helping me bring this to TELUS, @gutlessmerc for helping me bring this to the 32gb ROGERS variant and @tobesedated for helping me bring it to the 16gb ROGERS variant.
** These zips contain full firmware flashing. Checking the MD5 is highly recommended
FOR THE AT&T/ROGERS/BELL/TELUS S3 (SGH-I747/I747M) ONLY!

I would assume you speaking of the micro end and not the USB port on the computer side? If that's the case will ODIN recognize a com port while in download mode? If your able to do that you will be able to flash a insecure boot image thus allowing ADB commands or use the toolbox in this forum to flash a recovery script. Of your able to do any of these we can get you going again.

KNOX kernel lock and KNOX warranty void are the new things in the 4.3 bootloader that can break warranty easily via CF-Auto-Root.
So just now I remembered something from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253528
To sum up, it says that the LTE Modem from 4.3 (MK2) would break sound. So to avoid that, just use the LTE modem from MDL and the GSM modem from MK2. I tried it and it works!
How to:
1. Download this zip: https://www.mediafire.com/?7tj2smth2vp1b7m
2. Extract the files inside the zip into anywhere you want, as long you remember where it is.
3. Put your phone into download mode (vol down+home)
4. Open odin, click on phone, select Modem_UVUAMDL.tar, untick auto-reboot, and press start.
5. When the install finishes, manually reboot it back to download mode.
6. Using odin again, click on phone, select modem.bin, untick auto-reboot, and press start.
7. When finished, reboot and you're done!
If you already have the MDL modem installed, just ignore steps 4 and 5.
To revert to MDL, skip steps 5-7 and only flash Modem_UVUAMDL.tar.
Credits to: @j_r0dd for the 4.3 modem, @mrvirginia for the 4.2.2 modem, and the devs over at the i9505 section for figuring out the trick
If this works you are ****ing awesome lol
Question ??? Have you tried putting the phone to sleep in 4g mode on a 4.3 tw rom ??? or does it lose date like before ????

Crosses fingers..... Thinking about it I don't think this will work since we are basically staying with our old 2g/3g/4g Modem and just flashing the new LTE MODEM..... Our problem is the 2g/3g/4g modem which is the one that loses data when the screen is off our LTE modem works just fine
I HOPE I'M WRONG THO LOL

LOL, so my rom is the only one working with the new baseband? Maybe it was a build.prop edit.
Like my OP says, I used stock mj5 as the base. I simply copied and pasted all the files in the system dump over to the mj5 folder, overwriting any like files.
I'm thinking it's a simple build.prop edit. Why would the new baseband work with stock files if they don't work for other "stock" 4.3 tw international roms? That's the only difference I can see at the moment.
Looks like I'll have to continue my work on that rom. I can't download the odin image for MK2 from hotfile. I got to 1.1GB/1.4 one time and then it finally failed. I've tried at least 5 times and they all crap out. Hopefully someone will post a mirror soon.
