Hey guys,
Looking for some guidance on a seemingly simple issue.
I had jedi rom installed shortly. Then I actually did a full erase, data wipe, cleared out the whole phone and then flashed to stock through odin. Re-rooted, customized a bit with Wanam exposed, etc. Phone ran fine for a month then the last couple days I started getting a ridiculous amount of force closes on several different apps and on touchwiz.
So i attempted to restore to a backup through TWRP.
BOOTLOOP!!
Tried Reflashing backup, formatting the entire phone again and fresh install of stock Rom Through odin...nothing worked, still BOOTLOOP
Finally, flashed bootloop fix script and all fixed. Back to fresh stock OS.
EXCEPT!!
...When I flashed stock first time (following jedi rom), I still had mobile data & wifi hot spot toggle in my notification panel.
Now, after flashing the same exact stock Rom file, I am missing those two toggles!!!
Wth, how!????
Really curious if anyone knows why this would happen and also how to get those 2 toggles back
Those toggles don't show on factory roms .it not supposed to.

Because when you wiped you did not format your internal as you should when heading back to stock with Odin. It a step skipped by most

I was almost certain that I did format the internal. Cleared out all of my TWRP backups and all. Obviously I screwed up somewhere tho..
Anyway, Thanks for the link to guide! I followed the steps for adding the code lines to "feature.xml" and rebooted but still no data toggles. Read that the solution to this was a dalvik cache wipe, but ideally a full wipe.
I wanted to avoid this so I revisited sqlite. When I originally tried to get the extra toggles through sqlite editor, I was getting a database error (code 14). Luckily, I was able to correct this and move on to finish the process. Rebooted and toggles are finally showing

In the past couple of weeks I had jedi 3.x rom installed on my i317 from att, with asylumcore kernel at 1.92ghz overclock and no fsync(). Had it fully themed from various theme mods around the forum and everything was running great till i found a AOSP lockscreen mod that i decided i really wanted to put on here. I flashed the mod and my phone would load up show the TW lockscreen for 1 second then reboot again over and over. I was stupid and did not make a backup before flashing the lockscreen. could not get phone to stop resetting w/o pulling battery. after flashing the new jedi rom and kernel my phone still continued to bootloop, but without ever getting to the bootanimation. I had a cm rom on the sd card that i kept to try on a "rainy day". after flashing that the phone was able to fully boot and was working but this rom is very buggy for me. i realized that i had forgot to format /data before or after flashing and thought this could be the issue. went into recovery and now every time i try to format it the recovery reboots. tried flashing teamwinrecovery and it only loads the splash image then a blank screen. So i went back into cm and used the app Rom Toolbox Pro to see if it could clear out all of /data, and mentioned that my version of cwm had to be done with rom manager but with the option to try anyway? i answered yes. phone booted into recovery and now automatically tries to clear /data but keeps rebooting and repeating the process. Now i can't flash anything becuase rom toolbox is automating the whole thing.
So I ask, does anyone please know of anyways that i can mount my phone to my computer for editing without being booted up into the rom or recovery? or is there a way to use Odin to somehow clear all the partitions so that i can start new?
Sorry for long post but right now my phone is a $650 brick.
U just answered ur own question.......odin bacjk to complete stock

I live outside of any major city and the only real internet i could get was through my phone via tethering. so i was on dialup to even write the previous post. But I went into town and borrowed the local restaurant's cable internet and downloaded the stock firmware and I believe everything is in working order
Hi everybody, I was hoping to get some help here. Be warned, this is a long story.
I was running CM10.1 fine. My phone was lagging for some reason. A quick search told me to clear my cache. I did. I flashed the Darkside cache wipe. Now my phone wouldn't boot. There would be a Samsung Splash screen, then nothing and my phone would (try to) reboot. Again and again.
My (external) SD card had been acting up a lot. It wouldn't be recognized, copies would be slow, and all sorts of problems. So I formatted it. It worked fine. I assumed my phone was back to normal.
I restored my phone to stock via ODIN. It would reboot at first, but I That worked fine. I was happy until I needed my Wifi hotspot back. I rooted via Odin. The Deleting of tethering provision no longer worked. I flashed the Darkside ICS Rom. That worked fine. I missed Jelly bean/stock android. I flashed CM10.1 along with a fresh download of the Darkside cache and data wipes.
The phone didn't boot. Same problem as before. I assumed same solution. I got a PASS! and unplugged the phone. At this point, It showed the stock splash screen (Galaxy SII, Android 4G etc.) and then an animation of the Android with some blue 3D figure spinning in his belly. The %age status bar at the bottom reached 30ish% then stopped. The animation continued and the bar remained at 30% for a very long time. I tried to reboot normally, which would result the Splash screen with a %age bar at 99%, frozen, and to enter recovery which gave me a splash screen then this:
-- Verifying internal MMC block...
Not need checksum confirmation
already executed!!...
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : TMB
Successfully applied multi-CSC
This is character to character what I read, and there seems to be a dead android with a red triangle in his belly in the back ground.
I can consistently reproduce these two situations, both of which are disturbing. I could try to restore via Odin for the third time, but I risk making things worse.
Thanks for reading the essay. Until I can somehow fix this, I'm stuck with Hercules in a coma.
Any help is appreciated.
step one, flash twrp (2.5.0.0) via odin
step two, wipe everything except external sd
step three, flash whatever rom
the end
What are you restoring your phone to...ics or jb?

I did the same thing day before, actually. Only I flashed CWM via Odin. I could now access recovery, but flashing CM gave me the same no boot problem. Funnily, resetting to stock actually worked after I did this!
Obviously I'm not happy with stock. However I am hesitant to mess with my now fully functional phone.
And without starting a flame war, would using TWRP give me different results?
Oh yeah, iburnhearts, I resetted to the (I think) latest stock JB, 4.1.2. Should it matter? I heard there was a difference in where the SD card was located or something.
I will make a backup before trying TWRP this weekend.
Thanks for all your help.

Glad to hear you're phone is fully functional...stock jb touchwiz isn't too bad in my experience especially now since a lot of the newer cm10.1, pacman and carbon nightlies are having SODs and RRs.
As far as twrp vs cwm...in my experience twrp has a much simpler user interface which makes it easy to wipe amd theres no need for the darkside scripts. Although if you want to flash a custom touchwiz jellybean ROM then you would need the infamous wipe scripts which are similar to dark side but they've been updated by Jamison.

Hi everybody,
I flashed CWM via ODIN, then I flashed the TWRP .zip. It was easy enough. Then I flashed CM 10.1, gapps and a custom boot animation by nozerogravity (keywords CMX boot animation). All went surprisingly well, and the welcome screen alleviated my concerns.
There still remains the problem that originally worried me something was wrong with my phone: it would lag during the simplest of games. Until I tried other ROMs I didn't know that this was a known issue with CM 10.1. I simply had to lock and unlock to temp fix this problem.
TWRP is much simpler and cooler than the classic CWM. Also, why did CWM conk out on me so? That is the real question. The evidence seems to point to CWM, however, I am reluctant to blame such an established piece of software, esp. considering the fact that it's free.
Thanks everybody, for the help!
*Nota bene: No wiping scripts were needed with TWRP, neither Darkside nor Infamous (I'm not familiar with the latter)
Hey guys, I am pretty knowledgeable on flashing rom's as I have done it quite some time now, but I just flashed this rom and can't get my phone to fully reboot. I am not sure if this is supposed to happen or if it is semi bricked etc. I had cyanogenmod 10.1 on my samsung galaxy 3 sprint and I factory data reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, and format system all before I flashed this Axis rom. I went through the aroma installer and everything checked out and after installation completed it said Installer status: 0 and option for reboot. I hit reboot thinking everything checks out and the phone tries to reboot as I see the samsung logo..but then it goes black....nothing happens for minutes (I am not sure if it is supposed to take that long but it looks completely off..screen isnt on or nothing) so I wait for long time and nothing...I try to turn it on again and samsun logo appears with the Cyanogenmod Blue Android guy...(not sure if that is the same logo used for axis or if it didnt wipe the logo from previous rom)...then it goes black again...so i tried reflashing the rom again and again...and nothing same results..just turns on samsung logo with the blue man and shuts off...i am able to get to the custom recovery...but thats it...please help...I do have a nandroid backup but when i go to restore it doesn't find it...is there anyway to get another rom or something flashed? maybe through odin etc..
I think something like this happen to me before. I ended up having to go back and use Odin and reinstall the recovery and rom. Some how I had erased the ability to install a ROM. I may have had to treat my phone like it was the first time rooting it and go through the entire root process. Sorry just working from memory. Hope this helps and good luck
i wasnt aware that we had a rom called Axis for this phone. you probably flashed a rom not meant for our model phone
That rom is for the AT&T model, why would you flash it to a sprint model? I think using Odin to go back to stock might be your best bet.

I never trust those multi-carrier roms. Doesn't seem safe to me for this exact reason.

During the aroma installation does it have you select a carrier type? And does it have you select a kernel?

Hello Everyone,
I recently formatted my internal SD (Hercules T-Mobile) and I cannot seem to get Shadow Mastery installed. It just keeps boot looping. I have full wiped using infamous. I have tried every recovery possible including TWRP 2.6 as instructed.. Is it because my Preload partition is no longer present? If it is this how can I go about repartioning my device to include preload. I have also went back to stock using Odin. It still does not create a preload.. Thanks in advance for your input. I have been lurking and flashing since my G1 but am now trying to be more active in the community.
shadow master 2.2
im installed it last night and it froze on the green screen for about 20 minutes.....then I took the battery out and re installed it......
it did tha same thing......so I used DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4 and whipped it again and in stalled shadow 1.5...
any reason why it froze ?

I tried all the things that were suggested because, I too, had the never ending boot loops. I returned to stock with Odin, rerooted, and formatted and reset everything and still had boot loops. I even tried a dirty install over Shadow 1000 just for yuks.
Bottom line after returning to stock again thru Odin and rooted, I used Infamous Wipes and installed Shadow Mastery 33 and still got the boot loop. I went back into TWRP and installed Tiberius-TouchWiz-2.4-LINARO-Hercules.zip and, surprise, it works.
I hope this helps others with the boot loop problem. I don't know what it is that could be about the kernel that my phone doesn't like, but it solved the problem for me.
Thanks a million. I will give this a shot. Knew I could count on such a awesome community to help me out. :good::good:
Tried Tiberus worked perfectly. Thanks again.

Hey there, I have been for the last three hours reading all 24 pages o the Shadow freezerburnt rom (final version) and at the end after so much reading I got confused but I am not allowed to post a question in the developers section, maybe you can help me here. I am now running JMTv7 , i had so far flashed a few cyanogen CM10, cm11, beanstalk 4.4, paranoid android 4.3.. and so far i had no major problems trying them out.
Now I would like to try this Rom from Rushing: Shadow Freezerburnt, but he makes a remark that says (no radio and no recover included) so I have now on JMT7 the CWM 6.0 recovery and the UVMC6 radio.
The question is: if I flash the Shadow FB Rom means I have to flash as well a new recovery and the radio cause it will get lost in the wipe outs? so far preparing for this I downloaded the tiberious kernel, the twrp recovery zip file, I am still trying to get a place to download the UVMC6 radio just in case but no luck with that. Seriously I have been reading forums (all 24 pages in rushing OP) for over three hours and now my head is spinning... I appreciate any pointers... Thank you.
Okay, I flashed today shadow freezerbunt, coming from JMT 7. I read tons before going for it I got all worked up hearing of so many people getting bootloops. I followed the instructions as kj2112 posted and I had no problems at all. So far is going smooth. No need to change kernel here. Thank you rushings this Rom looks great and runs suave...
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Guess I need to add my name to this list. I have never been able to install ANY of Rushing's Shadow series ROMs. I always get stuck at about 20% load of the Shadow Boot Screen. The only time I was able to get past it was by installing a Linaro Kernel before booting the first time. But I just tried his latest version which is supposed to fix the boot issues, and same exact thing, although this time if I install Linaro it goes past the boot screen, but then has a boot loop. And I've gone all the way back to a fresh ODIN factory reset, but no success. Does anybody have a real explanation as to why this could be happening?
Cheers
Try SHADOW MASTERY 1.2.3
The above file appears to be the same as Shadow Mastery AND includes the radio and recovery. I have been running this for afew weeks no with no problems.

I was in the car running Waze (GPS), full screen brightness in the sun on the dash. Phone rebooted, then stuck in an infinite bootloop. I was running the newest 4.4.3 PacMan. Sometimes it would reboot after the Samsung Logo, sometimes it would just end up hanging on loading on PacMan.
I can get into Recovery. I tried wiping dalvik, cache, data, didn't work. I tried reflashing the rom, didn't work. Tried restoring a backup from February (Pac 4.2), didn't work. Tried installing OmniRom, DIDN'T work! What the hell is going on?
This is an emergency as I'm currently away and need to use my phone. Fortunately I brought my laptop with me.

I was running TWRP 2.6.1.
I ended up Odining to stock, but now realize it might not have been the phone. I use two batteries and a separate charging system. When I Odined, I switched batteries to my full one (not the one that was heated up in the car). This morning the battery I had Odined with was getting low so I switched it out with the one that was overheated. Bootloops on stock! Is this battery fried or can fix it somehow? (I remember with my old SGS there was a "wipe battery stats" in CWM Recovery, I haven't looked into that for TWRP.

But it works fine when I use my spare battery (the one that didn't get overheated).
At the point I think that the over-heated battery is just shot unless it can be fixed somehow. Google isn't helping.
