I got my S4 Mini I9192 in December, but I can't remember the version it came with. Immediately after getting the phone, I updated to XXUAMF7, and rooted the phone using the tutorial by cheatman, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368561
Everything was fine, but trying to find some info on the possible culprit for the battery standby drain, I found somewhere that it could be a problem with the Russian region UAMF7 rom. So, I downloaded, and installed the Indian DDUAMJ2 rom, rooting using arco68's files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494435, but didn't have wifi, so I then flashed MJNazari's kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2431953.
Now everything's fine, wifi works, still don't know about the battery drain, but information in the "About device" worries me.
The build number is fine, JDQ39.I9192DDUAMJ2, but the Baseband version is still showing I9192XXUAMF7 !?
Is this normal, and have I messed something up somewhere?
Can anybody who's upgraded from rooted XXUAMF7 to anything newer tell me what their "About device" says?

Modem did not upgrade
Either flash whole rom AGAIN or only flash modem
This happens when u have "Custom" status in download mode.
U can extract modem from stock MJ2 rom tar and md5 it and reflash it
Here is the modem i extracted from MJ2 flash it with Odin CP option
I9192DDUAMJ2_Modem.tar.md5 37.2 MB

Thank you very much!
I had tried flashing the entire ROM twice, even did a factory reset, wiping the whole lot of everything I had on the device
BTW, on a technical note, where does that "Custom" status come from? Rootkit? Kernel?

Well, depends
For example if u take a stock rom from sammobile , unpack it and delete bootloader stuff when u`ll flash it status will go "custom" even if u did not modify other stuff
If u flash a custom kernel / recovery status will go custom
If u delete some "bloat" status will become custom
Many things will trigger that status
Good part is , u can come back to official if u flash a stock unmodified rom from sammobile and factory reset your phone after
Take care, sometimes u must flash it twice or more because modem does not get flashed
Btw, u are lucky u still don`t have Knox bootloader do not flash a stock rom from sammobile that ends with MK4 MK5 ML1 ML2 ML4 NA2 etc without modifying and deleting Knox bootloader
Thanks a lot for the info! The Custom status was then probably caused by installing CWM and removing all of Samsung's apps after rooting...

Hi,
I am newbie for Android and this could be silly question.
Is possible for me to downgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1 with original stock rom (international version N7100) and no root?
If possible, could you write down steps that I need to take?
Yes, I did search the forum but it doesn't comes with step by steps?
Reason is battery drain too fast especially at night.
I had the same problem... You must be rooted first to do it...
Download the correct firmware (http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/)
Install MobileOdin (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro&hl=en_
Copy the tar.md5 file to your external sd card
Open Mobile Odin and flash the stock rom. It even has an option to root it without effecting the status. My phone is rooted but it still says official. Then use TriangleAway to reset the counter to 0 and you're good to go.
You dont believe you have to be rooted at all, I did this last night, the way I did it was went into stock recovery, factory reset and wiped cache, rebooted, turned off, booted into download mode, connected to pc, opened odin and flashed stock 4.1.1 simple as. It did get stuck once on samsung logo I left it for about 10-15 mins, went back into recovery and wiped and factory reset again, rebooted and all was good and now Im back on 4.1.1 so far its been off charge for 3 hours or so and its only gone down 1% it would have been around 8-10% on 4.1.2 for me
I wasnt rooted before, was on stock 4.1.1 then upgraded to 4.1.2
Absolutely possible. I just did. Steps are,
1- Make a batch backup with Titanium first, on your 4.1.2 ROM.
2- Flash the stock 4.1.1 ROM via Odin.
3- Root it.
4- Go to recovery and wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache.
5- Now you've 4.1.1 fresh ROM, install Titanium and restore all missing apps and system data.
6- Now you've a fresh 4.1.1 ROM with all the data and apps.
'Continously inputted' from my GT-N7100
Jujuburi said absolutely correct, why you need root to simply flash stock rom.
Just to add.
After downgrading as described by jujuburi above, your device still will have new bootloader and that won't downgrade by procedure said above and so you have to re root with cf auto root or one of the CWM recovery, exynose abuse apk won't work.
Downgrading bootloader is needs different method and no need to describe here as it is not recommended/required at all.

Okay, that mean if I dont root is 100% i cannot downgrade it to 4.1.1?

It's only a temporary root. Once you load the tar.md5 in mobile odin you have the option to keep it rooted or not. Just simply keep the box unchecked and you'll be good to go. If you're not rooted right now root it with cf-autoroot to keep your status as official on 4.1.2 then install mobile odin and finish the steps.

????? Your guide isn't the easiet way at all. The OP didn't say he didn't have access to a pc? And flashing stock roms via odin doesn't raise flash counter afaik?
Also your link to odin is a paid for version which isn't required.
+1
Absolutely right
-No root needed to flash using Odin, neither flashing stock ROM with PC odin raise flash counter.
hi guys
a have the same sleep drain issue with 4.1.2 and going to odin flash 4.1.1 but do i have to wipe data/cache ? and if so do i have to wipe b4 or after the flash ?? thx
It is not compulsory, but in many cases during downgrading, after flashing ROM device may gets bootloop OR stuck at samsung logo. in such caes you need to do it.
But i do prefer wipe always after flashing ROM for better performance, you can do it after flashing.

pls clear the confusion. do we hv to root or not
pls clear the confusion..
Hello all,
I have been reading, viewing videos etc for past 4 days. and have asked questions on youtube to people but no one replied now you are my BIG HOPE..
i have an international version unrooted galaxy note 2. I dont have much details about baseband etc as i never jotted them down before upgrading. But i do have details now after upgrading to 4.1.2.
Baseband- N7100XXDLK7
Kernal 3.0.31-679347
[email protected]#1
SMP PREEMPT Wed Dec 26 10:26:20 KST 2012
Build Number
JZO54K.N7100XXDLL7
AP: N7100XXDLL7
CP: N7100XXDLK7
CSC: N7100DBTDLL2 (which is germany)
I am downloading N7100XXALJ3 N7100DBTALJ2 from dr.ketans N7100 all in 1 old rom posts of 4.1.1 Oct 2012 as thats what i cuold find for DBT germany firmwares. Is that right one........???????????????????????
like others i upgraded to 4.1.2 and have been facing battery drain problem. first of should i wait till samsung comes up with fix in next update or shuld i revert back to 4.1.1.
I read this post as and it is so confusing-
Battery only lasts 1 day so want to go back to stock firmware 4.1.1 and want flash counter zero and everything legit. one member said root is needed then other said its not. then dr. ketan in the end say just to go back to stock root is not needed and just flash with odin and it wont increase counter as well if flashed with odin pc. is that right that we dont need root to just go back to stock 4.1.1 as he said.?
---------- Post added at 09:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 PM ----------
Now i am confused as i have multiple options suggested by all in this thread--
* If root is not needed should i just download 4.1.1 (enquired about the firmware N7100XXALJ3 N7100DBTALJ2) and flash it with pc odin just like bradmax 57 said and keep it all legit and will i still get OTA samsung kies updates in future..?
OR
* Should i root my phone first using cf-auto root with method given in your N7100 all in 1 forum and then flash 4.1.1 with mobile odin and then remove triangle away once and for all.? if we go this way obviously phone will be have full root access with limitation of not being able to flash zip files from pc (but will be ok with mobile odin for that) and cant use nandroid backup and restore - i am not fussed about these things but want my phone to be legit for warranty and do need future updates OTA and from kies.?
Also do i wipe cache, factory reset from recovery before or after flashing 4.1.1 as bradmax57 had to do it twice before flashing as it was getting stuck at samsung logo but on the other hand dr.ketan suggests to do it after flashing 4.1.1..
Kindly help.
Thanks in advance for your precious time.
Here i giving clear answer and you should not have any confusion.
-No need to have root to flash 4.1.1 with Odin
-after flashing, you may stuck at samsung logo, in that case you have to reboot to recovery and have to wipe cache and data
-I don't recommend to downgrade, as latest 4.1.2 having SDS fix, on 4.1.1 you device can be brick without any reason. if you have battery issue, download latest MA6 ROM , not necessary you will have to flash DBT ROM, you can flash any country ROM and whenever your country get same update, same way you can flash that ROM with Odin.
First off a big big thank you to dr.ketan, mazdamiata and jujuburi who assisted me and cleared confusion. I have down graded to 4.1.1 easily and see a massive battery difference already. All i had to do was download stock firmware for my phone csc region and flash it with odin. wipe data , cache in recovery mode as it did get stuck on samsung logo and its all good. no root needed and flash counter etc remains untouched as well..

So you're saying we can flash a different rom to our phones without it breaking? I find that hard to believe. Why would there be different firmwares then from samsung? I need TTT firmwares, so I could flash any DMA6 firmware since mine isn't available yet?

You can flash any ROM of N7100 to your N7100, that is that simple.
I never seen a case of bricking by just flashing stock ROM. just selecting own country ROM will help you for better language support, and some priority/selection of application for your country on play store when you search OR google suggest you. You can flash any country ROM which is latest and still not available for your country.

According to the screenshots you uploaded, you are not on MDL firmware. In fact, you are on MDB firmware. MDB was released when the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 came out. Use Odin and flash the MDL firmware (use that same restore thread again, but do NOT download the link that says Stock Tar, instead download UVUAMDL Official TAR). Flashing this should restore the baseband version from MK2 to MDL.

I'm not sure. I actually used that tutorial to upgrade my baseband and it worked just fine. Another person also had this issue as well. I told them that it could have something to do with the custom binary counter. Apparently, the phone prevents you from flashing unsigned items if the counter is high. You can reset it with an app called TriangleAway.

Hi i have been trying to update my att SG3(rooted) 4.1.2 for a while now, when i try to update to 4.3 it says it does not have any update available but i know that this phone can go up to 4.4.2 kitkat,i have tried to do it with odin but unfortunaley i couldnt find the original firmaware in sam-mobiles ,plz help,it does not necesserly have to go to 4.3 if you guys also now a way to go directly to 4.4.2 it will be great.and i have also tried before rooting my phone, still didnt work.P.S:sorry for my bad english.
If you have the 4.1.2 bootloader on your phone, the simplest way would be to flash back to stock ATT 4.1.1 with Odin and use OTA update to get to 4.4.2.
Using Odin will wipe all of your data off your phone.
You can also odin flash MJB firmware available in the General section. Then you'd only need one ota to get to 4.4.2.

There are various pieces of software that need to be installed in order to all of the various functions to work. The main components are:
the bootloader http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...bootloader-on-android-phones-complete-guide/;
the modem/baseband http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseband_processor; and
the operating system or ROM itself.
ATT never released a full firmware (ROM, bootloader, baseband) for 4.1.2 but they did for 4.1.1.
Since your phone is on 4.1.2, you would download the firmware from the previous post, download Odin, install the USB drivers, and flash the firmware.
ok,thank you both DocHoliday77 and audit13
Just a quick FYI, it's more than just the bootloader/modem. The firmware includes the following partitions:
aboot - bootloader
NON-HLOS.BIN - modem/baseband
RPM - resource and power management
sbl2/sbl3 - secondary bootloaders
TZ - Trust Zone
System - rom
Boot - kernel
Cache
Recovery
The first group MUST all match. If they don't it can hard brick.
(This is why I've always wondered why people on the AT&T forums always say to just update bootloader and modem. I'm used to referring to it as the base firmware if not including the system/rom components, or full firmware if including the system.)
Sorry, a little OT. Not anything to be overly concerned about, just me being overly technical is all.

If you follow audit13's instructions you'll be fine.

(not sure if it matters but i have never used OTA updates before)
thanks in advance.
Is your bootloader also the lk3? If the modem and bootloader are lk3, you can use Odin to flash back to stock using firmware from sammobile.com.
Ok, I'm on a similar boat. I tried several AOSP based ROMs, and while I like most of them a lot more than stock touchwiz, they all present the same problems:
- Camera stops working sometimes and I have to reboot device;
- Camera won't record videos in 1080p, even when it's selected in the settings;
- Cannot make video calls on Skype longer than 5 seconds before the call drops;
- Disconnecting a bluetooth media device while music is streaming causes sounds to stop working;
- Tap to pay doesn't work at all;
So because of these problems, I want to go back to stock . My phone is the AT&T version. Currently I'm running Carbon Rom with KitKat 444. The baseband version is I747UCUFNJ1. The latest version of the stock ROM available on sammobile is:
Version: Android 4.1.1
PDA: I747UCDLK3
CSC: I747ATTDLK3
MODEM: I747UCDLK3
Would I be able to revert my phone back to stock with Odin? If not, what would I have to do to revert? Am I stuck with custom ROMs?
I'm pretty new to this so I'd appreciate anybody's help.
If your bootloader and modem is the lk3, you should be able to Odin back to stock 4.1.1.
Ok, how do I find out if they are? And if they are not, do I have any other options?

someone correct me if i'm wrong.you cannot downgrade bootloader or it will brick. there is no stock rom for NJ1. this link will take you to a stock based 4.4.2 ROM which is safe to flash with the NJ1 bootloader/modem.

I tried to push that ROM the phone using adb to flash it with ClockWorkMod, but the file is 1.7 GB and the phone always shuts itself down during the push process... So I wasn't able to try that. Also, the instructions say you're supposed to be on UCUFNE4. Are you sure it's safe to flash it on I747UCUFNJ1?

I have tried CM11 and Carbon ROM, which is CM based, both have all the same problems. I haven't tried TW-based ROMS. Do you have any suggestions?
What do you mean by the phone shuts down? Did you try copying the ROM to a microSD card?
Did you notice any bootloader or modem files in the S3Rx 4.0 (11-9-14) ROM? It may not include a modem or bootloader. In step 1 of the flash process, it says "AT&T I747 users should update bootloaders and modem to NE4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...pdate-t2808654 I747M and T999 users need to be on 4.3 firmware or ROM will not boot. "
the link i posted is TW. post #1306 claims is o.k. to flash with UFNJ1.
did not see any mention of bootloader or modem in changelog or in list of 'extra' features.

I reboot the phone in ClockWorkMod recovery. Then I go to the command prompt and type:
Code:
adb push S3Rx_UCUFNE4_AROMA_11-9-14.zip /sdcard/
It starts pushing the file to the phone, but after a while, the phone screen goes black, and I get a "Protocol failure" on the command prompt. After this the power button no longer works, I have to do a battery pull for the phone to work again. The phone has 10 GB of storage left so it didn't run out of space. The USB chord is brand new so I don't think it's that either. It worked fine before when I pushed other smaller roms.
In another question, would this process allow me to downgrade the modem and restore stock rom?

i am pretty sure that since youre on MJ1 , your bootloader and modem have to match.

Did you try flashing the card from an external microSD card?
AT&T never released a stock ROM for the i747 beyond 4.1.1 afaik; therefore, you cannot get back to stock unless you flash an OTA ROM that has been compiled for flashing in Odin.
I do not recommend mixing and matching bootloaders and modems as a mismatch may result in a hard brick.
Downgrading only the modem will not allow you to flash back to stock.

I haven't tried flashing from external microSD card as I don't have one.

So you're basically telling me I'm stuck with custom roms unless I find a 4.4.2 OTA ROM I can flash with Odin (which doesn't appear to exist)?

Would it be safe to try this:

Even though I'm on I747UCUFNJ1 and not on I747UCUFNE4?
Once you upgrade to the 4.3 or newer bootloader on the i747, you are stuck with either custom ROMs or OTA ROMs that have been compiled for flashing in Odin or CWM/TWRP.
You can try flashing the NE4 ROM because it doesn't appear to include a bootloader or modem. The first post says "Prerequisites include a minimum of a 4.3 bootloader and modem.
If you are not on the official 4.4.2 bootloaders and modem then you will need to flash ktoonsez kernel."
Thanks audit13 and mrrocketdog for all the help. I was able to get the AROMA rom installed on the phone. All functionalities lost with AOSP ROMs are back working so that's a plus. Still can't get updates OTA updates but this phone is probably not gonna have any new ones. Still hopeful that lolipop based AOSP ROMs fix the problems I had, but I'm not holding my breath.
Hi everyone,
I know this problem is well known and solved many times already, but I'm not being able to solve it by myself. This is why I'm posting this thread as a last resort to try and get some help, just in case i missed something..
My phone is currently with unknown baseband and IMEI on stock 4.4.2 flashed via kies recovery. If I try to flash any 4.4.4 port ROM the phone locks up seconds after boot, it will only work with stock rom. I already tried a few modems i found on another threads but no success.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

from sammobile, download newest firmware for your region and unpack it from stock rom and then pack it with 7zip to tar file and flash it with Odin.

Isn't that a bit pointless? Maybe I'm missing the point, but if I already have flashed latest firmwares from both sammobile and kies, it kind of makes the point that modem and bootloader files from sammobile don't solve the problem, right?
Thanks.

Well truly doesnt seem pointless
I got my baseband resolved (Previously showed 'Unknown') by flashing pure stock rom (got from SamMobile) THROUGH ODIN so might be there is a point.
Try stock rom flashing from odin as according to me stock rom has everything in it radio(Baseband),boot(efs), system, etc etc
The unknown baseband and imei can be due to a modem and bootloader mismatch.
To confirm the bootloader and modem on the phone, install the Samsung Phone Info app from the play store to confirm the version.
