Hi, can someone help me? Here's what happened..
I have a rooted note 2014 and last night I was playing some gameloft games and realised that my internal space was almost full. So I did a research and found an app to send the "obb" data to the external card. The app was GL to SD. I tryed to get it working but had no effect.
So messing with Titanium Backup i unnistalled 2 Bloatware ONLY (Asphalt 7 and Millionaire, both demos) after that it asked me to reboot and so I did. When it turned on something went wrong. It can't start google play, my magazine and the file manager can't find Device Storage. In my PC connected via USB it shows an internal storage of 128mb... Does anyone have a clue of what happened? Did I changed any permissions whithout knowing by doing anything from above?
Thanks
Go back to Titanium backup and reinstall those programs you deleted and see if that fixes the problem.

Edit: My sd card is working again! I would advise anyone not to use the App Mybackup or Mybackup Pro because this is what caused my problems!
I recently rooted my Evo with
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838448
Anyway i backed up my apps and i started to attempt to restore them. While doing this all of a sudden my evo started saying that it had critical memory left and i had to power it down. So i restarted my Evo and noticed that all the apps installed on my phone but not SD card. So i proceded to remove them all because whenever i tried to move the apps to the SD with Apps2Sd or the phone application function itself i kept on getting "Unable to move application" or something along those lines.
Anyway im wonder is there anyway that i can fix this problem to enable me to store apps on my sd? I can connect the sd card to the computer and manage the files.
Also i have tried to format the sd card but i still have the same problem.
I am about to try a nandroid restore and see if that will help anything.
I also cannot install apps of the market because they fail when the try to install to my Sd. So any installation to my phone i need to unmount the sd card.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Hello,
I recentply purchased a Galaxy Note 2, it's the GT-N7100 model. I got a 32GB SD card for it, and ever since I inserted that memory card for the frist time, it would always download game data in the card, not in the phone memory. Examples: Modern Combat 3, N.O.V.A. 3, NFS Most Wanted. I had about 10 gigs of "data" and "obb" folders in my memory card. This was all fine, as it kept the phone memory almoust empty.
However, since this morning, when I lauched any of those games they would ask me to download data again, and this time it all goes to the phone memory! I tried formatting the SD Card, Rebooted the phone, deleted app data for those games, reinstalled them, but this didn't fix it. I did a factory setting reset (completely wiping the phone) - still no luck. What might have happened to my phone?
For me I was never able to dl game data to sdcard some day one using gn2..

I was never able to download any app data to sd card since day one. I've been manually transferring downloads (sadly) ) to my sd card. And I ended up only transferring media files and left app files alone

This is so strange, never heard of someone reporting games data dowloading directly onto an external memory. Did you initially install a mod to make your phone see the SD card as an internal memory?

Never heard of such a thing. Data is always saved inside the internal SD, not to the external SD, not unless you rooted and performed the apps2sd mod.
I do not remember what I did... I was playing around with apps that were supposed to transfer apps to the sd card, but with no success. Then it just started doing it on it's own. I am rooted and using stock ROM, if this matters. If I had installed a mod, I must have done so without even knowing about it (lol). It's just really weird, as all over the internet people say that you can't do this, and I have seen my phone doing it.
Anyway, since I can't figure out how to make that work, can you suggest a good app for transferring games to the SD card. I tries GL 2 SD, which works(!) but I can only play the games if I start them from within this app. And since I am kind of OCD, this doesn't work for me, I need to be able to start them from the normal icon on the home screen.
Thank you all for replying.
Not planning on a root yet.
Will the next Android OS update be able to support app transfer to SD card?
Hi, I got a issue with my sdcard and had to reformat it, but I coulnd't make a backup of the content stored there. I tried to restore titanium backups and nandroid backups, but they require the android/data folder to still exist with the app content in order of games and apps to work. When I open a game restored with titanium, like MC4, it says I have to download extra 2,5 gb of data.
My problem is:
I tried several times to download MC4 and other games but the download process suddenly stops around 70% and when I finally manage to download 100%, I realize my sdcard has 10 gb less free space, and I think it's because of failed downloads that were not deleted when process ended.
So, is there any way to find and delete that useless files and recover those 10 gb back?
I checked android/data and /obb directories but that is not the location of those files, cause every game weights just the Mb amount it's meant to occupate in the sdcard.
This happened with both google play big games failed downloads and separated games that downloaded extra data from inside itself when restored.
Thanks in advance
95% sure google play doesn't download files to the SD Card as i have had the SD Card mounted on my pc and the downloads carry on, So it must be something else using storage space on your SD Card
UPDATE: seems im right, they are located at "/cache/download", "/data/cache"
They move to "/data/app" and "/mnt/asec" when finished
I know this is an old thread but I had to leave xda for some time because of college. I'm posting the cause of this issue just in case someone has the same situation.
I took my phone and sdcard to a friend who is a technician and he discovered @fma965 was right and the actual cause was a phisical damage of the sdcard, which prevented data from being erased correctly.
According to him, the damage was there before I formatted the SD and got worse after doing it. So it seems some sectors of the main data partition (fat32) which were recuperable got screwed after formatting, and all the data that I stored there after that, just got corrupted. So, those around 10 gb were some files that were no visible on any file explorer but actually used memory space.
In conclusion: if your sdcard sometime just starts to have a weird behaviour, don't immediately think formatting will be the solution, cause you could mess it up completely instead. If you have important data stored, try to use disk recovery tools to retrieve the most you can, and only after that, go for it and try to repair.
Just if you were wondering, the SD got damaged because it was bent very very slightly to the point you could not notice. It happened because it fell to the floor and my brother stepped over it while we were searching for it.... so, ALWAYS be careful with it

Using my wileyfox swift for a few days now and having a blast. This is the cheapest phone I ever got and i'm enjoying it
even more than my Nexus 4.
Today on the other hand, something strange happened to me.
Phone was working fine with a Samsung Evo 32 GB UHS-I formatted as internal storage.
Today I decided to move some apps from internal storage to the SD. I should have never done this..
After 3 apps the phone would stop moving them and stuck at 0%.
I thought this was just (another) android bug an rebooted the phone.
I moved 3 more apps and the same problem occurred.
This time the phone got stuck in bootloop at the wileyfox logo and a soft reset solved this.
When the phone booted I noticed 6 apps had disappeared, strange thing is. These weren't the apps I moved to my SD.
After opening the app drawer my phone froze completely, another soft reset was needed. This went on 5 more times, until I
removed the SD card. After this the phone started fine.
I checked the SD in my laptop and it was only showing the folder "Lost.dir".
When trying to format the SD card it was only showing a option to format it to 16MB.
After this i used Windows build in "disk manager" and noticed that there was a second (and main) partition of 16MB on the
card(?!).
After removing this partition I could format it to the original size.
It took me 5 tries before the phone would format it to use as internal storage. It would force close 4 times before with
an error message.
Can't find anything related about this issue on Google, is this a known bug?
TL;DR: Moving apps from internal storage to SD f'ed up my SD partition/card. Can't find anything about this issue online.
Phone info:
Wileyfox Swift
Cyanogenos 13.1.2, latest updates installed.
Not rooted, locked bootloader, nothing modified.
Even if u can use sd card as internal storage or whatever is not recomended to use it. Or even move apps on it my friend lost his 32gb sd card after using app to sd or something similar i dont remember
Actually this is some solid advice for everyone.
I tried using a build in feature and it did a whole lot of staying things. Since this happened I will stay away from the feature.
hi folks,
So i chose the wrong SD card handling (the merged kind?) a while ago and after ejecting the card to set up a bigger one, I realise I now can't access the internal storage on the phone.
installed apps work fine
I can remove apps fine (but not reinstall!)
i can sideload apps fine (oddy!)
I cannot access e.g. photos with gallery apps
file browser apps cant access the internal space at all.
I cannot install anything from the play store, it just shows insuffucient space
apps like twitter crash.
whatsapp works (calls and text), but cant download photos sent, or attach photos.
There is loads of space free (14.65gb used of 32gb internal).
I also have an SD card with loads of space now set as portable storage.
I have the original SD card that was in before, but not in phone (still shows in storage manager).
Any ideas please?! Before i reset the phone and start again!
I have rooted it, but not sure what to fiddle with (the problem started before rooting).
nope? ok i guess i'll be wiping and hoping that fixes it!
moving to another phone for a while...
just to be clear, doing a full reset on the phone while rooted with magisk is ok? (unlocked bl). don't want to brick. android 10 up to date.
thanks, if anyone out there?
alright for the record and anyone else suffering this, i figured it out, and is slightly embarrassingly stupid.
if you set up the sd as combined storage, and still have the sd, put it back in and use the migrate data back to internal option which is hidden in the storage dot top right menu. voila.
then you can eject card, and still access the internal storage.
what you do if you've already wiped the old sd, i've no idea! you're maybe stuffed? hopefully wiping phone would fix it??
don't ever set your sd card as merged, use portable (i knew this, was a mistake).
so anyway, phone working again yay!
