I just tried to do an nandroid to a previous ROM, this has been done many times before via CWM. This time after reboot I got stuck in a bootloop as I pulled battery and manually tried to get into recovery with power/volume this time it went to odin mode and now says dowloading, do not turn off target.
I have powered down phone from ODIM mode. but now when trying to re-boot im stuck at samsung galaxy boot screen. I now have tried once or twice to manually get into recovery to see if sends me to CMW but phone resets back to the boot rather than bootloader.
I have tried to hold volume up and power to try and boot into recovery and all I get is the bootloop while holding the buttons, never gets routed to recovery. (I heard for ODIN you hold volume down and power)
Has anyone experienced this? I have never used ODIN so no sure where this is comming from.
I have tried to manually get into recovery and I get a samsung message that downloading a custom OS can be harmfull either I can proceed or re-boot. If I proceed (volume up) I get the "downloading do not run off traget" in ODIN mode if i do volume down I reboot but that back at the bootloop
If you cannot get into recovery you are probably going to have to flash through Odin. From the sound of it you never used odin before. I would flash back to the stock rooted rom and then reinstall clockwork mod. I will provide links. A file probably just got corrupt during the nand restore. Lets hope I can get ya back up and running.
Install stock rooted rom:

Reinstall Clockwork Mod:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZRnH-_XZmM
Make sure you follow the steps exactly and do NOT pull out the cable during odin until it is complete or you WILL brick your phone!

When you see the factory reset text. Press power twice and you'll be inside clockwork recovery assuming you have flashed cwm already.
You can follow

In order to install custom roms, you need recovery, cwm or twrp. If you are on stock then you won't be having any of custom recoveries instead you'll just factory reset the phone using the above procedure.

I rooted my LG Optimus 4G LTE SU640 and installed ROM Manager and flashed CWM recovery. But when i boot into recovery mode, always getting below error
securebooting error
cause: boot certification verify
Enter the fastboot
Enter the fastboot
Long time no see
Does CWM recovery won't work for ICS running SU640?.
Please help ....
yeah LG has secure bootloader on updated ICS etc. you have to unbrick now, make sure you use unbricking for su640
---------- Post added at 11:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 AM ----------
i used this guide to unbrick my phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597488
but im not sure if it works on su640, you'll have to verify that.
just to clarify for you if you are new, you have to unbrick later versions of nitro because of a secure bootloader or something. in order to remove it you have to unbrick your phone, which involves flashing a leaked kdz and and old korean rom, then upgrading to stock at&t, once you have stock at&t installed from that point you can install a custom rom or restock flash rom.
any more questions just ask
---------- Post added at 11:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:08 AM ----------
i'm nice so i decided to read down a bit, a see a few users with the su640 having problems but a few that said it worked, most likely this means it works and the people who had problems were just not doing it right. if i was you i would try that guide i linked, and if you have any problems with any of the steps you can ask us here.
note: when doing modifications to your phone it is always at your own risk.
Thank you Mr.KronicSkillz for your post. I will try that.
I've been trying to root my Note 2 using the guide on XDA ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801060&postcount=2 ). However, I can't access the CWM recovery. This is what I tried, maybe you can see where I did something wrong:
I've started Odin, clicked PDA and pointed it to the philz_touch file which I downlaoded through the link provided in the guide.
Auto-reboot and F. Reset Time are checked.
Then I put my phone into download mode, waited until the com.port thing turns blue.
Then I clicked start. Everything seemed to work fine and Odin said "PASS" or something.
The phone rebooted, but not into recovery. When I try to access recovery I see that it's stock.
According to the instructions in the guide I then unchecked auto-reboot, repeated the procedure and rebooted by keeping the power button pressed.
It doesn't go into recovery but just starts up.
When I try to access recovery it is still stock.
WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?
Can you name the file you flash?
this is XXXDDDAAA
The one linked in the guide: philz_touch_4.64-n7100.tar.md5

well just flash philz recovery via odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.prehp?t=1896696 all files available here , be sure to enable usb debugging and unistall kies just install the usb drivers that will do
Note :
normally, phone should auto-reboot into recovery.
If it reboots into android and your recovery remains stock, repeat above steps and untick "autoreboot" in odin. Once flash is done, keep pressing power button until it reboots (normally will go to recovery)
when in recovery, if you choose option "reboot system now" and you get "yes - disable flash recovery", select that option to avoid stock recovery overwriting cwm
thanks; i'll try
the link you put is not working, but i did a research on the forum (i didn't know philz recovery) and i downloaded it
hope it'll work

Hey iggy I have the same problem, have the same kernel (2.6.32.9) and software and I saw your post to download different kernel, the problem is when I open the link, it's empty (nothing downloads).
So I downloaded the content on the link and it doesn't show in the downloads folder. And I don't even know where to flash it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
you guys can try any kernel with cwm included.
or i saw an method to install cwm via flashtool (manuell). What is the problem btw?
you dont see the blue light or it doesnt open it when you put volume down?
yall can show at xparts (there is standing install cwm) sometimes it doesnt work on the latest version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840
download the version 5 and install cwm again, if it shows cwm succesfully installed you installed cwm, if it doesnt i can show you guys how to install cwm by another way.
if it is succesfully installed you can reboot and put volume down when the blue light turns on at sony logo or go to xparts again and try boot in cwm.
i hope i helped you guys, if i dont please ask again
yours,
slimy !

This method is for locked bootloader, if you have an unlocked bootloader just flash a kernel with a recovery. Furthermore, this recovery will be gone every time you install a new ROM because this recovery is installed to /system partition which is wiped when you flash a new ROM.

My LT18i with locked bootloader don't get the blue light... I already flashed ftf several times and tried the Sony Companion repair... it don't work. I can Root but can't enter CWM mode.
In the past it worked fine, I already had UHD instaled but after I tried another ROM the problem started after it gets freezed in Sony Logo... I flahsed the original Sony firmware and now I can't enter CWM even after instalation... The blue light never appear... instead the blue light, the screen gets brighter for 1 second.
Do you know any way to get CWM working again?
Already tried the method of this post and the X-Parts... they don't work... at the boot it starts normal system... even If I press BACK button or Volume down...
Thanks.

Install latest TWRP once rooted, I have a separate thread about how to root your device.
1. Download latest twrp from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/d851
2. Download Flashify (for root users) from play store
3. Open flashify select recovery file you downloaded then flash it to your device. Done
(Boot into recovery menu when device is powered off)
1. Hold volume down and power button simultaneously
2. Soon as LG logo appears immediately let go of both volume down and home button
3. Repeat step one right after step 2
You will be asked to factory reset your device SELECT YES BOTH TIMES and you should boot right into recovery menu.
Done
Thanks for the guide bit it does not work.
I did as you have explained, flashed the twrp image but it does not go to recovery mode after pressing volume down plus power butto. It turns on normally..??
How do i know if the twrp is properly installed??

PLEASE MENTION THIS IN YOUR GUIDE THAN ONE HAVE TO PRESS THE SAME BUTTONS AGAIN "IMMEDIETELY" AFTER SEEING LG LOGO.
This only works if you have the play store (and thus GAPPS) installed. I however do not.
You should modify the title to reflect that.

Great work on this TWRP. Works great on LP also after using a bumped boot.img and kk aboot also. Anyway to speed up backup's? Seems like over 10 minutes+ to backup to SD Card.

Ok, tried my first backup restore on TWRP from SD Card and it failed! Hmm. Anybody else have a successful restore? Just got my G3 so this is the first TWRP I've tried. Send you a PM OP.
---------- Post added at 12:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:29 PM ----------
Tried TEAMWin's TWRP and backup restore failed also. Must have been a bad backup. Gonna try backup again with TeamWin's and restore and see what happens.
this link from the stock rom thread points to a version 2.8.6.1 which is newer than everything in the OP link
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxgcaWaR5dRTZExOQnZGWV91U3M/edit?pli=1
is this the right one to use?
what are the steps to go back to no twerp and no root and back to oem phone?
on my g2 I would go to factory reset in the setting and it would only boot into recovery mode..
I just searched for TeamWin TWRP and D851. Got a link to here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/249/ Seems twrp-2.8.7.0-d851.img is latest.
Update: I was trying to find a safe way to update TWRP and went back to the below site. The instructions now say to update with TWRP Manager. It worked flawlessly.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/249/
Install TWRP Manager. Tap on Install TWRP. Select your device from the device list (d851) and then tap on Install Recovery. The file will download and be installed automatically.
