[Q] TWRP and CWM - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I have both recoveries installed on my d2att, but everytime I reboot into Recovery, TWRP shows up. But I actually need CWM. How can I replace or set CWM as default? I have flashed CWM through ROM Manager but TWRP still appears on my reboot screen. What do I do?

Try flashing Philz Touch Recovery via Odin.

Try using the method to install cwm in this thread.

I downloaded ROM manager, flashed CWM as instructed. I then booted to recovery but the ACS CWM beta was still there. Am I supposed to flash it in recovery mode?

It will only change cwm via rom manager, you will still have your old recovery on three finger boot.

If you flash the zip using your old CWM it will replace it. You cal also odin the tar version. Either will work with 3 finger salute.
Flashed it, but now can't mount SD from recovery. I'm on EI22 stock rooted. Do I need to re-odin everything? Thanks.

CWM Touch keeps restarting before finishing install

I have CWM Touch 6.0.3.1, and no matter what I try to do it keeps restarting before it's finished. I cant install a rom, wipe, do anything... It just randomly started doing this, any ideas?!?!
Can you get into download mode? Or does it keep restarting? If you can, try flashing an older version of cwm via odin

Idk why I didn't think about that. I'll give it a shot
You could try twrp via the goo manager app. If you prefer cwm and/or all your backups are in cwm, flash it via Rom Manager or boot into twrp and flash this cwm touch 6.0.3.1 zip. Download it and throw it on your device or micro sd card. The zip is compliments of @hednik.

Get rid of twrp.

Open for suggestions here. I'm trying to flash cwr over twrp, but every time I boot into recovery I've still got twrp. Tried it using rom manager first, downloads and installs fine, says I'm using cwr 6.0.4.4, I boot into recovery using either the 3 button method or reboot recovery command, and I'm still on twrp.
Also downloaded the .img file from the cwr website and flashed in Odin, got a pass but I still boot into twrp. Any ideas?

That's weird. Its acting like you have a locked bootloader, which you don't.
Did you try using ROM manager app to install clockwork mod?
There are also flashable zips of clockwork that can flash in tarp recovery like like a ROM would be flashed. Tarp should stay after flashing but when you reboot to recovery cwm should be there.
If neither of those two things work, come back here with a very detailed step by step list of things you are doing to switch. We will see if younare missing a step

Go flash this from ODIN. Note, you can't flash a stock .img from ODIN, you'd do that with fastboot or a dd command.

Thanks guys, I downloaded a flashable of philz and flashed it though twrp and that finally worked. I had tried rom manager but that didn't work, and I had used this to package my .img file to an odin .tar

Still doesn't explain why CWM wouldn't flash over. You can use Mobile Odin to flash the CWM recovery img which should clear TWRP. This is just in case someone else has this issue. Don't be a denvercoder9

** Remove CWM & use TWRP ??

Ok, so my issue is that I have TWRP and CWM recoveries installed on my N2.
My question is, can/how do I remove/uninstall CWM and "only" use TWRP recovery?
I ask this because I mainly see ROM devs saying to use TWRP as of late, and if this
is the case, I don't want to have CWM no more because... I CANNOT boot into TWRP,
it always boots me into CWM when I do the key combination to boot into recovery. It never
gives the option to boot into TWRP recovery.
Thanks in advance.
You can only have 1 recovery loaded. It's personal preference but if flash 4.4 kitkat you need CWM or philz.

[Q] Recovery not working.

Redmi 1s.. v45 rooted.
I have TWRP 2.8.0 recovery. I can enter in the recovery. But...
1) can't install any zip(tried to install zip of stock recovery and cwm. It shows successful but again boots in twrp recovery)
2) can't backup(it shows backup is successful but no folder or file is created as a backup)
3)tried fixing root permission... But it takes forever to complete the process)
If this can be fixed plz help...... Other thing i did is...
I tried to flash rom in fastboot...
Using Miflash.... An error is displayed.... Can't flash the rom too.
Thanks
There's some problem with the recovery i guess. Try using fastboot recovery to flash the latest version and an rom

Solved
I installed CWM recovery via fastboot. Now everything is fine.
But in TWRP I used to see "simulating actions" while performing backup or installing zips.
Didn't get that.
Cwm touch recovery
Everytime im tryig to backup rom , via cwm , it says cant mount backup path.. I installed stock recovery updating via updater then formatted my internal sd , flashed cwm again,, tried back up again didnt work.. Any help?
I had problems with Custom Roms in CWM but for me TWRP worked well. But you can try Philz recovery.

Hope this will solve your problem.
Solution
I had exactly the same problem.
It turned out that the problem is in the TWRP settings. Uncheck the Simulate bla...bla...bla...
