OMG Is my P605 a fake. - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Just checked over my device and some you tube video posts.. a few things.
I got the P605 from ATGSM.com.
The box was sealed with sticker and all.
Inside the box there were no replacement stylus tips (as seen in all the you tube reviews)
Also the box does not look like any of the boxes i see in the reviews. I take it that the version they shipped me is originally the Hong Kong.
There were no specs on the box.
Did I get a fake...a clone....... What do I do now. I can post a pic of the box if you need to see it.
I need some serious help. I paid over $700 for this device. I just want to make sure its the real deal. Especially seeing how there are so many fakes out there. Please help.

Your box is not the same as the one in these video's, so I see what you are talking about. Besides the extra tips was anything else missing or different is your box? Your tamper sticker looks like it was placed over another one, what do you think when you look at it?
Can you post more photo's like side label and front of your box.

I bought a P605 via Negri Electronics a couple of weeks ago, and it was in an identical box to the one in your picture. My box also didn't have any spare stylus tips. Also had a Hongkong style adapter, which Negri provided a US adapter in the outer package.
I suppose the HK version just doesn't come with spare tips?
It seems real to me.

You got no idea of the Negri problems with the Note 3 obviously.
I feel sorry for anybody buying stuff from them.
The stories are hard to believe yet true.

What problems.

I bought my N-8000 and SM-P601 from Negri and had no issues. The only problems I heard regarding the N3 and Negri was that some carrier devices they sold, mostly T-Mobile, that had their IMEI's reported stolen after people received them and started using them. Since Negri doesn't build devices and most of what they sell is grey market and imported from other countries they are kind of at the mercy of their suppliers. As far as I know they stood behind the devices with bad IMEI's and replaced or refunded them. If you're in the U.S. and buying a SM-P601/5, no matter who you're buying it from, you're taking a chance as to its origins, condition, and country of sale (which can't be the U.S. because neither is sold here). And know that none of them have a Samsung warranty because they're grey market. Negri, Expansys, and NewEgg are the biggest sellers of Samsung grey market devices in the U.S. and I've purchased from all three. My experiences have been fine but I've heard complaints (some horror stories) on all three. With grey market goods there's no such thing as Best Buy. And Amazon doesn't count; all their unlocked devices are sold via marketplace sellers.

They were selling used as new
They were selling stolen as new
They were selling phones with the seals broken that were still locked as unlocked and new
They were selling Phones that were rooted as new
They were selling Phones that were already Knox tripped as new
This is just a small list of the things they pulled
If you read the TMO Note 3 thread thread, I don't know how you would do business with them, absolutely despicable.

I'd read the thread before I bought my P-601 from them. All their Samsung HSPA devices come from the Samsung dealer in Trinidad. They had the P601 before anyone else reselling them in the U.S. did and it arrived in its shrink wrap and was perfect. The shrink wrapped Trinidadian N-8000 I got last year arrived with a bad display. Negri paid return shipping and overnighted me a new one (which was perfect). I asked where their LTE P-605's came from and they said Asia. I personally am not interested in any Asian-sourced imports because the s/w and Hub access are funky when used in the U.S. Software wise, Trinidad and Latin America are the most compatible. That's why I got a P-601. When people ask me where to buy Samsung grey market devices I mention the three company's above. I share my experiences (and the horror stories, lack of warranty, and other risks) and tell them to avoid PayPal (Amazon Payments is an option with Negri) and use a "customer friendly" credit card like Amex. I'm sorry some people got burned over the N3 but it doesn't change my positive experiences.

Same problem but got the solution.

Where to buy GSM Version from in USA?

I'm looking to purchase the Galaxy Nexus GSM, and I am located in the USA. A few different places have it for ~$450, and I am trying to find the best place to purchase it from.
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-I9250...F01A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335213120&sr=8-1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176322
For anyone else that purchased it in the USA, what do you recommend? I have read of issues with fake ESNs, and I thought I read that there were different versions of the actual device (Japanese version, etc). Any major things to watch out for? Where did you purchase from, and did you have any issues?
Update - Responses from Amazon Sellers:
Global Mobiles:
the Samsung I9250 Nexus comes with a return policy of 30 days and 2 years manufacturers warranty in Europe. You can claim the warranty by yourself at Samsung Europe or ship the phone in case of a warranty to our office in Germany, where our technicians will handle the claim for you and send the phone back in the US after the repair.
And its EU stock. The warranty is valid in all EU countries, not limited to one.

Got mine from Amazon with next day shipping. I have prime so it was only 4 bucks for next day.
I'd say Amazon is safe as long as you get the one fulfilled by amazon. If anything goes wrong with the phone when you first get it you'll atleast have amazons great customer support and be able to return it.
My first gnex was from daily steals and the phone had a defect within first 24 hours. It took nearly a month to resort things and get my money back although they refunded my money in its entirety I'm pretty positive amazon would've been a lot easier.
Other places with positive reviews are negri and expansys. People say these places offer some sort of warranty which you'd normally wouldn't get with a gray market phone. They essentially act as a middleman for you and samsung. You send the phone to them and they send the phone to country of origin (typically samsung UK) for warranty repair. A bit longer of a fix but pretty good for ease of mind.

But isn't there a way to change the build of the device anyways? So the only difference is software based, not hardware based? I know the Nexus S had a LCD version, and an AMOLED version - I don't need to worry about that here, do I?
I sent a message to a few Amazon sellers, asking them what the warranty situation is, and what version theirs are (what country they import from). I'll try to report back when I hear back from them.

Yes the only difference is software, and you can change any i9250 or SC-04D to "yakju" and get Google OTA updates. It takes all of about 15min to do.

I wouldn't expect much as far as warranties go with an Amazon seller. If you want a warranty I'd go with a reputable non-Amazon seller like Expansys or Negri (and even then its shady at best and you're trusting that they can take your phone and forward it to Samsung Europe). You're going to spend a bit more for it though so I'm not sure if its worth it for you.
I got the $450 Newegg phone. It turned out to be a Docomo SC-04D, made in Korea, 12/2011. I have had zero problems with it. I immediately flashed yajku IMM76D and went on my way. No problems with the IMEI, it matches the one printed on the box. If the NTT battery cover bugs you, there are stock battery doors available from any number of sources.
Expansys dropped the price down to $469.99. Good deal, especially with all the warranty and repair service they assist with.
Just bought one of Amazon for 452 seller was blue tek, I'll let you know how it goes should be here Wednesday

That would be greatly appreciated - I'm kind of stalling at this point as I have a busy week of school to get through, and don't need a new toy to play with. I'm leaning towards Amazon as I have a bunch of gift cards that I need to spend.

Correct no warranty but an order fulfilled by amazon should give you a window of being able to return a defective phone. In my case I believe it was 7 days.

You have a lot of faith in your phone. My Nexus S screen went bad 6 months into owning it. If it wasn't for the warranty it would have been an expensive repair.
Also keep in mind that with a voided warranty (buying anywhere but Nergri or Expansys) Samsung will not fix your phone even if you pay them, because it is grey market. A few unfortunate people on XDA learned that the hard way.

Which problem did you face?
I got mine on Thursday from amazon for 430 $ but I didn't realize it was from saxx mobile, now I'm super scared its a refurbished phone, 20 $ didnt sound like a huge difference so i didnt suspect at the time, I should have been smarter and should have not trusted that too good to be true price phone hasn't arrived yet

Haha. Not too much faith but enough faith. My first phone I acquired through Craigslist but had a small scratch on screen and banding that was driving my ocd insane. My second through daily steals samsung did actually offer warranty fix but I had to ship to country of origin which was in Poland. Luckily I had people I knew in Poland who id be able to ship to. But alas daily steals offered me a full refund since it was prior to 30 days. I figured after two faulty phones I was due for an alright one.

You should be covered by the Amazon A-to-Z guarantee if it is refurbished or anything. If you have any problems, I recommend talking to Amazon customer service. They tend to be pretty good about stuff like this.
Would the warranty start working in the US if Samsung starts selling the gsm Galaxy Nexus here, or do they somehow know that it was imported and not allow people to send it in for warranty repairs?

I would get it from the Amazon link and make sure the one you buy is the one that is fulfilled by Amazon.
I purchased one from ebay and ended up getting the NTT Docomo version with a horrible screen with all kinds of banding.
I then purchased one from Amazon (same link) and got a regular (UK?) version, with a much better screen.
I will be returning the ebay one.
Both arrived with the Samsung seals broken (probably because they had to be unlocked)? But they were pretty much brand new in condition.
Good luck!

Questions for those who purchased an international n5100

Hey,
I just purchased an n5100 from Amazon. This is my first time buying an international device and not a US device, so I have a few questions. It looks like I got a model meant to be sold in a Spanish-speaking country, since the box and the writing on the back of the tablet are in Spanish.
1. The box had no seal to break through. I know on the Wifi models sold here and in the unboxing videos I've seen online, there are stickers to cut when you are opening the box. Should I be worried that there is no seal, or are there countries where this is sold unsealed?
2. No headphones are included. In the unboxing videos for the 3g model, I've seen they come with headphones. Do they all come with headphones?
3. Will I encounter any unexpected issues with having an international model?
4. How does Samsung handle warranty issues on international models?
Thanks in advance!
I'll attempt to answer some of my own questions since I decided to power the thing on
I found a few more unboxing videos and saw that not all the 3G versions do include the headphones. So I guess that's not an issue. One thing that's nice about the version I received is that it came with a US-compatible power adapter.
So far, no unexpected issues with having an international model. When powering it on, it defaults to English, and you can select your language from that first screen. When starting the Google Play store, it asked me what country. I selected US, and I was able to begin downloading my apps. That was one of my worries.
So far, this looks pretty nice. I was trying out the Wifi model, and decided based on that experience that I wanted to have the 3G option. I guess the next step is to stick my microsim in and see how that works
Congratulations! My one had a seal, but no headphones. I also got extras with my deal - a free official pouch stand, 16GB microSD, and 2 months free Internet with a local service provider.
No idea how warranty issues are handled, sorry.
There is a seal
There are no included headphones.
Why would you have any more problems than a Wifi version?
Warranty depends on the policy of Samsung where the device is originally for. My guess is you have no warranty

I've had my I ter national note 8 for about 3 weeks now. It came unsealed so that the retailer will know which converter to send with it. U have no warranty, and can't even register it on Samsung website. That said, u might want to try wentworthave (dot) com or protectyourbubble (dot) com... I've used pyb before for a claim and they're pretty good wentworthave doesn't have deductibles.. I'm thinking of switching.
I received my note yesterday also through a retailer on Amazon. Mine was sealed and all in english. It defaulted to British english and I was able to register it on the Samsung UK website. In doing so, I received the dropbox promotion of 48 GB for 2 years for free! The retailer included an adapter for charging in the main shipping box so they did not have to open the tablet's box. I contact Samsung US and they confirmed there is no warranty for it here. I have it covered on Square Trade. I just hope not to have to use it.

Wouldn't mind knowing myself, took a punt on the LG Watch R at the weekend, which is nice but would prefer the Zen. I have it preordered at Expansys at the moment, got in while they were taking orders rather than just the register interest page they have up now.
I had some interest in LG G Watch R because of the circular display but I think the watch is a bit too chunky. Will have a look at expansys

I'm currently using the LG Watch R and had the same thoughts as you, but it's not as bad as I imagined it would be. However I still have my preorder with Expansys and will decide on which one I want to keep once it arrives. Hopefully soon!
Hi all,
I pre ordered mine here: http://www.expansys.fr/asus-zenwatch-eu-265396/
Please note I'm from France.
Anyone got any news with UK release? Hopefully comes before Christmas so I can get myself a Christmas present
Noticed this morning that Simply Electronics list this on their site for £184.95. Also that they've got 5 in stock and make no mention of it being imported. Considering a UK launch date or price hasn't been announced (that I know of) I'd be very sceptical.
UPDATE: A glance at some Google Shopping reviews suggests they might not be on the level.
they are based in HK and have some very dodgy reviews - actually rang them this morning asking whether it is uk stock and this wasn't clearly answered. I then asked about customs duty and they just said its an all inclusive price - bollox. Expect duty and RM charges on top....
I actually remember I nearly bought a camera off this lot a couple of years back but they aren't exactly truthful about location of item or taxes etc - means you'll pay customs and it'll be regarded as a grey import without warranty.
I think its sad that ASUS are dragging their feet on this. I've looked at big daddy in the US but again with their $40 fee and customs, its getting expensive!
Need an american friend to buy and send as a gift!
Anyone heard anything more on the UK release?
Avoid Simply B'S they are HK based

I decided to try se after I discussed at length where the watch was coming from (uk or abroad) , the warranty, etc. I was told it's coming from the UK. Has a UK se warranty. Ordered last week and the amount of bull I've been fed since is unreal. Been told due to amount of orders they should be able to post it by mid December! Even though they originally said 10 days..... I queried why it should even take 10 days?! They are full of sh.....
If and when it arrives, if it's not a UK warranty, I will charge it back through my credit card as I will have been mis sold the item according to trading standards. Mmm I will then follow up with trading standards and ensure they are put out of business based on their mis-sellibg practices... At least in the uk/as a UK seller.
Anyway, still no UK date grrr

Noticed this morning that Simply Electronics list this on their site for £184.95. Also that they've got 5 in stock and make no mention of it being imported. Considering a UK launch date or price hasn't been announced (that I know of) I'd be very sceptical.
UPDATE: A glance at some Google Shopping reviews suggests they might not be on the level.

Don't order from Simply Electronics. The product they have is not certified anywhere and is dodgy. They quote low prices to draw people in and you very stung after. I got taken in by the cheap price if a macbook air but it wasn't European certified or certified by America FFC. They're customer services is rubbish and they don't reply and when they do they try to get you to keep the product at a reduced cost. I had to complain through PayPal and eventually got all my money back. Lesson learnt. They are based in HK but have warehouses in UK and Europe. If you ever do order then be wary as they're not that easy in returning and will try to get away with charges to deduct from the amount you paid on receipt of a return. I would suggest you all keep away like you would with the plague!! All the reviews online are rubbish and are made up to make them look good.

Expansys have changed from a "keep me notified" page to a pre-order page. I don't know whether that's due to a site relaunch (can't recall whether I've seen that design before), or whether it's changing.
BTW, for a while now, I haven't seen Simply listed on the Google Shopping page when searching for the Zenwatch.

I pre ordered back in October but nothing since then obviously. Dunno if I should pre order again! Had a price when I first did it. £159.98 is the price that was given.
Just looked on simply be and it's on their site for pre order just under £200 - site has changed a lot since I made that horrible mistake of ordering from them a while ago.

I have a zenwatch in my possession in the UK. It was ordered from the US via Big Apple Buddy. I ordered it on Friday 5th December at around 2100, paid by PayPal and had it - with shipping & tracking information and regular updates - delivered by FedEx by 1030 on Monday 8th December.
The total cost was around $285, including service charges, but felt this was still pretty good value in the realm of early adoption, given the interminable wait for the damn thing to reach the UK.
I can vouch for the fact that Big Apple Buddy are entirely safe and reputable.
And the watch? Well worth it, especially with 5.01 sideloaded.
I looked at them^ but they came back much more expensive than this!
I've just ordered a Gear VR from Samsung US using .comGateway - very reasonable $20 plus postage.

How much was the postage if you don't mind me asking? Also has anyone found anything like this that has Google play store as a retailer?

I'm surprised. How much was the quote for? May be Xmas demand related I suppose.

Given up on simply electronics. Never before have i dealt with such an appalling company.
Dropped big Apple buddy another line. Doesn't look like the watch will be released anytime soon here!

Selling my new Note 4 , I need some advice listing it

Hi, I'm Selling my new Note 4 on Ebay and I need some advice listing it.
In forming my listing, I typically look at past successful listings and see how they worked their ad. I have noticed ad that claim to be "factory unlocked".
Can somebody explain this to me and also give me any tips on getting top buck for my listing?
I thought these phone were locked.
I can provide a photo of the label on my box.
I'm thinking on a quick 3 day sale so someone can get this in time for a Holiday present.
This is a typical listing that confuses me:
NEW FACTORY UNLOCKED Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910V 32GB WHTE Verizon GLOBAL GSM
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREAT-FACTO...1313163018?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item43d39e1b0a!
verizon's LTE phones are all sim unlocked
thats prob what they mean.

I've had much better luck selling on my smartphones on Swappa. It's your choice, but Swappa just seems to attach more serious buyers and has a reputation for better protecting the seller and the customer. You'll also get a better idea of what smartphones similar to yours are selling for.

Thank you for your reply!
So does that mean I can truthfully say in my ad?
" Factory Unlocked To Work With Any GSM Carrier * OverSeas"
Another vote for swappa. Sold my phone there in a day (and most of them are if you are reasonably priced)
no crazy ebay fees.......
Just list your phone with the model # and a good description. You will do fine.
I sold both iphone 4 and galaxy S3 and started bidding at $1 with a buy it now that I felt was a little over average. Both sold on ebay in less then 3 hours, buy it now instant pay.
use craigslist.
too many scams with paypal dude...
people will buy and say it never got delivered.
i only sell on craigslist, but never buy
Swappa did not work for me. Had 2 people buy the phone but neither could pay for it. Had to relist each time. Finally gave up.
Some great feedback here, thanks guys. Its on swappa for two days then I'm moving it over to fleaBay.

On ebay, you'll pay like $60 in fees on a $600 ending price.
So $600 on ebay nets you $540. You can lowball on Swappa for 575, lose $10 to swappa, pay shipping yourself, maybe $15, and still come out ahead despite an initial $25 lower price. Just something to think about.

Buying a used Fold. UK Unlocked. Considerations?

Hi,
Ways wanted one, never willing to spend the money. Would be interested in a used model possibly but I have a few questions:
- Does a used model still have the UK Samsung protection? Is it one screen replacement for a few hundred quid?
- Does the UK Unlocked model work OK with Voda 5G? I was upgraded to a 5G plan but don't have a 5G phone.
- Scanning through this forum it seems like the update situation isnt great... I guess this device will always be the last to get updates?
Does it make any sense to get this device in early 2020?
Thanks!
Bought a used one in Denmark from a shop. The previous orner used the Samsung Care so im **** out of luck.

Anyway to know in advance if this is the case? Serial number check etc?
You only have 30 days to sign up for the premium care. I'm sol on the one I bought used lol.
Also in uk ee are exclusive with it or buy from samsung but like you said get 2nd hand
I got mine on Ebay UK just a couple of days ago, good price (I think) 1100,- with shipping.
Device is like new, also the screen, so it's possible to find a good one.
Only ask them for pictures of the display, I contacted a lot of them and some of them send me good pictures where the screen was really bad but the listed it as "Like new". So be aware of that.
