Good find! I've ordered a bunch from DX. The only thing I can say against them is shipping tends to be a little slow, But hey, it's free.
How much does quality vary between slimport adapters? Do you get what you pay for pretty much?

I did not buy from them for a very long time.

Ohh good old DealExtreme. If you can't find somekind of accessory there, it doesn't exist.
But sticking to topic, is it worth ordering a docking station from there? Like are they even somewhat quality?
You'll have to try your luck. Their stuff aren't that expensive to regret buying.

Thanks for this link will do some shopping again it seems on DX
At Dealextreme you need to have another sense for picking the cheap and quality items.
Most of it is just garbage or either stops working shortly after. Experience from having bought a few dozen items on there over the years.
But yeah there's really good, cheap and quality stuff on there. I use a 1 euro hair trimmer for at least 5 years now still working fine.
Hopefully that Slimport works okay for you. I've tried a couple different so called Slimports that didn't work with the Nexus 5 even though it says it does. The best one on the market for the Nexus 5 is the Analogix SlimPort SP1003. Great quality, perfect picture etc. Hopefully the one you ordered will be good...

Do you happen to know where I can pick up that Analogix SlimPort for a reasonable price? It looks like it's only available on Amazon from a 3rd party seller for like $50. I can't find any other reputable merchant that has it for it's original $30 price. Thanks.

Anything more than $30 and you might as well buy a Chromecast or similar wireless dongle instead.

I actually already have a Chromecast. While it's great for streaming services like YouTube, it's not so great for playing local content. I've tried AllCast, but if the MKV file contains DTS audio (which most of mine do), I don't get any audio. Plus, a lot of my videos are high bitrate, so I'd rather hook up directly rather than stream wirelessly.
Buy it directly from Analogix. You can watch much more than you can with Chromecast. Mine arrived in like 3 days.

Not sure if they all work. Anyone got any recommendations of what I should (or shouldn't) use? Looking at amazon (I'm a prime member, free 2-day shipping). This is the one I'm look to use.
that one is only for sound. thats a 3.5mm to rca(red and white). you want a 3.5mm to rca(yellow red and white.). so you can use it for video out.
HERE'S the one i just ordered. its gonna arrive for me tomorrow, i can let you know how it works.
I got one on eBay for $2.50. I'll post my findings as well once I get the cable.
Awesome, thanks. Just bought the same one. Now I just got to find a half decent media player to go with it.
no problem. it was the same one they used in a review of the captivates video out which seemed to work really well. have you tried rockplayer for movies? i've found the captivates default video player works pretty good. and the music players pretty nice too.

I saw those, but between the fact that they aren't out yet, $4 for the RCA cable is fine for a holdover, and I don't think we know what those cables will transmit. I know there are restrictions on what the other HDMI equipped phones can play through to the TV.

Not really. As shown in the pics in first post,I have one showing both the note and tv with a stop watch app, the lag is around 100ms.
Using MX player hardware mode, video only shows on tv but and subs only showing on note.
Using software mode, video and subs showing on both.
Using stock video player, it automatically becomes DLNA mode instead of mirroring. Good thing is DLNA mode is fullscreen while mirror mode is not.
This is encouraging- I've been able to get the ASCD to work with a rooted kernel but would like an alternate dongle that doesn't cost $80 that I can use on the road with.
So looking around on Amazon I've ordered one of these. (I don't know when I'll get to review it, though- as it must literally be coming via "Slow boat from China" as Amazon estimates I'll get it between 3-6 weeks from now!)

audio/video lag
I have the ASCD and use it with my rooted S4 just fine except for one thing. When I sgare netflix or any video there is a noticeable lag in the audio and when the actors/actresses actually speak so its like a bad old karate movie where the mouths just never match up. Any suggestions as no one else here has reported a lag like this. Thanks

Yeah, two things to try:
- you're going to have to get the ASCD closer to your Note; what you're describing sounds like a low-bitrate connection
- Try a different video player; I haven't tried using NF with the ASCD, but I do know while the Archos Video Player will have that same audio/video sync issue, the Dice Player (for example) doesn't (I think it depends on the output method the App uses).
Can also try to change your home wireless wifi channel to another band. It could simply be interference.
The miracast dongle that I've posted comes in 2 modes: Mirror and AP. AP being DLNA mode which is more stable, you can try mainly for streaming videos.
To switch to DLNA mode, press the button on the dongle. Use Bubbleupnp as a server to stream videos over to the dongle. I have yet to find a solution to external subtitles though.
A check in other DLNA providers in other forums simply say use MKV with embedded subtitles for DLNA solutions. Bugger.
Btw using Note's built in video player will use auto 'DLNA mode' without switching the dongle. Its much smoother than Mxplayer.

Well, it finally showed up * - and while it's tempermental (can take a couple of tries to finally "click"), it does work out-of-the-box with AllShare Cast. I do like the status screen while connecting, too. I haven't tried the DLNA option yet, will review that later. I see the price has gone up, though- I only paid $25 all-in for mine.
* - it arrived at the PO on the 9th, but sat there for 10 more days until I'd looked on the Amazon site wondering where it was and figured out the Post Office for my office (where I'd had it delivered) hadn't tried to resend it (nor left a note) after trying a Saturday delivery.

... and you get what you pay for; the micro-USB connector that powers it up has already shifted loose, so the charger has to be jiggled a bit to make it stay powered up. Ah well, $25
It's easy to disassemble (the case just snaps apart), so I might try re-soldering the connector myself.
So, I kept trying other adaptors. This $30 (on sale) Rocketfish Miracast Receiver from BestBuy didn't work (would connect, but immediately disconnect) but if you can find a Netgear PTV 3000 on sale (I paid $40 for a refurb off an Amazon Store; they're usually ~$80) I'd get one of these- it works even better than the Sammy AllShare Cast Dongle, with better connection reliability (it's got a 5GHz radio, not sure if the ASCD does, but it's gotta help) and due to that seems to have less lag, and less "mushiness" on video.

Do let us know how the Netgear works out. I have changed my home wifi to 5ghz to reduce interference with my 2.4ghz devices but I doubt that is helping much since I am staying in an apartment. On my laptop, I am seeing around 13 of my neighbours wifi.
The miracast that I have works fine in DLNA, but I would really prefer the mirror to be smooth.
I'm probably going to wait to see how the mirroring in Chromecast works out:

Any idea if the PTV3000 is affected by the HDCP issues the ASCD was hit by after the firmware update to ME29? If the PTV3000 can output to legacy non HDCP compliant kit like digital to anlaogue converters feeding a VGA signal to data projectors I reckon I would get one to replace the ASCD with a Cable Matters HDCP stripper.
First i bought a mircast adapter so i could get my tablet screen on the tv. I pulled up the nhl gamecenter app and the quality is subpar and its defiantly laggy. The picture looks perfect on tablet. So i then ordered a slimport adapter to see if the result was better but its the exact same. Is there something i need to adjust or what?

I'm using Huawei USB-C headphones (the ones provided with their phones). I got them from Amazon for £20. Sound is alright (I'm not too picky when it's about music quality tho) and I'm not bothered with adapters and whatnot.
Just a note. I ordered 2 Google adapters in mid July, checked the order status a few days later, and back then the expected delivery date was in October. I think like the 2nd week. So I cancelled that and bought these for $19.90 for two from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DY8B9GR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They work fine and they're better because they actually arrived shortly after I ordered. Since Google charges shipping on small orders, it was going to cost $23 something for two and I'd still be maybe 6 weeks away from getting them.
My fear is Google is not really keeping them in stock because they're putting either a regular 3.5mm headset jack on the Pixel 3, or there will be a DAC so that the cable doesn't need to have it.

I'm not an audiophile, but music sound quality is good. They seen a touch better than the OEM Google adapter with earbuds. And I mean stock Samsung and some $30ish sweets I have. I tried then with my Corwin E7 which is I think $60 on Amazon. So not the cheapest tier, but also not a few hundred dollars either. With those, I don't think I could tell the difference between the oem and the adapter I got on Amazon.
Google just launched their own type C earbuds. They are on the Google store for $30.

Hi everyone,
I will be switching from Oneplus 5T to 7 Pro by next week.
For the first time, my phone will not have a jack port.
I have great (and expensive) Bose earphones with active noise reduction that I want to keep using, so I am looking to buy a usb-c to jack adapter, I have spotted many on Amazon and wanted your input as I have no idea whether their might be quality or compatibility issues!
Here are some links I spotted:
