G'day all.
I've been searching the net for a while now trying to find a fix for the lack of docking on the SPH-L710. I updated mine to 4.3 (stock) and lost my HDMI to TV.
I'm aware that the developers want people to try different ROM's themselves but I have no screen on my GS3. I was using it as a media player with the samsung multimedia dock and bluetooth mouse/keyboard. I've been using android screncast to look around the phone but I can find nothing to help me.
Does anyone know of a fix or a ROM that works to limit my building frustrations. I've just managed to enable root and disable KNOX if that helps..
Thanks in advance

I've done some searching and can't seem to find any answers, as to if there its any way to get the media link to work with other devices other then htc devices. Sammy shows the link in the wifi connections tried allshare an even 3rd party apps like twonky no dice... Not sure if there is apk or something more to it.
Thanks in advance this could be a awesome acc. If we can get it to work with our devices !
I would also like to know if there is something like this for the galaxy note ...wireless mirroring done right in my opinion

So I have been reading and looking into finding an app that will allow other media players, besides the stock Samsung app, to be controlled through the S View cover.
I have found this app but it currently doesn't work with the Note 3.... The dev actually has a thread here on XDA about it too, but I haven't been able to get ahold of him.

So I turning to you guys, do you know how to get this working with the Note 3, or what we need to tweak to get it going?

I would love to ditch stock roms, but the lack of HDMI out is holding me back . I'm hoping the 4.3 leak may have helped, or that things have changed since my last hunt.

I don't have the capability to test that, well I do... but i haven't nor will I. I need to update that bible too... maybe this weekend if I get bored.
Doesn't the leak have TW in it? I know I can skin it to look like AOSP, but I just like having the real thing. I don't think many people use the HDMI feature because I can barely find anything about it in this entire forum/any others... @mt3g The Bible is awesome and thanks for the status update. You won't test every rom for me???
If I understand you correctly, then you'd love to go AOSP but worried the MHL Port HDMI output will break ?
If that's what you want to do, then why don't you do following.
1. Get all the hardware setup in order if not done already. This includes, Converter & HDMI Cable.
2. Test to see if the setup works with existing Touchwiz.
3. Take a Nandroid and then flash a Pure AOSP Rom, use MX Player or some other good quality player and see if the setup works again ?
If it fails, you can try VLC to mirror screens or use DLNA via your router ? You do have the option to go back via the Nandroid.

Exactly.
1 Cyanogen mod is a definite no-go on HDMI, and I found that out after I'd bought all the cables... (for anyone who finds this thread, you have to use S3 specific MHL adapters)
2 It currently works great on 4.1.2 TW Roms. I have already experimented with the 4.1 and 4.2 roms on TW and AOSP.
3 Right now once you go to 4.3 you can't go back to earlier versions (that I know already works), but at least one person did report that HDMI worked on the OTA versions. I'm just not sure if AOSP developers have/can/will be pulling HDMI drivers into their S3 builds.
I've found that using Archos Video and adding my HD as a network share is much easier than making a media server.
The extra support Samsung adds via Touchwiz framework makes it possible to do MHL Streaming for Touchwiz players. If you check, non-samsung video players have problems doing this over Touchwiz. So if you want to go aosp, you have to try DLNA (not Network Server) or Screen Replication.
I was hoping it wasn't TW specific, oh well. I'm selling my HTPC and planning on using my phone instead. Which means I will be streaming media to my phone, through the MHL port into the TV. Thanks for clarifiying it for me.
Just some food for thought if you please. Have you considered a TV Stick such as the Smartstick ? Perhaps for your setup, that may be an option.
They go for $24 right now. Link in the signature.
No I do not represent the company I develop custom Rom for it.

I haven't, but I'll check into it thanks!
Hey All:
I'm on the T800, unrooted stock (I had promised my work sysadmin that I wouldn't root). I'm also using ShareKM through USB on my work PC to use my mouse and keyboard on the tablet (makes a great timeclock). Of course, this means living with the limitations of ShareKM and I expect its impending death.
I'd love to use SideSync for this feature, but Sidesync doesn't share mouse or keyboard to tablets (just to phones). Has anyone had luck persuading SideSync on the GTS to act as a phone rather than a tablet? I was thinking either through modifying build.prop to look like a GS5, using SecureSettings and Tasker, or even the Per App Settings through Xposed. All of these would require me to root, so I'd rather know that a solution works before actually rooting. Then... well I'll just not show the local tech the bootscreen and we'll be all good .
Any ideas? Has anyone tested any of these ways?

Really just bumping this up. Is anyone with a rooted Tab S willing to try any of these ideas if we don't have someone who already knows?

It doesn't look like Per App settings can do this. I'm still hesitant to root my tablet, but with the new Lollipop update ShareKM has officially died. I'd really appreciate if anyone else has any experience or would be willing to guinea pig on this.

No, nobody did. But I do now have a rooted tablet using the Knox 0x0 root (...sshhhhh) so I might try a couple of the ideas that came up. If you're interested, I can post the results here.
So after some headache, I can confirm that I have a working App Settings Xposed Module on my Tab S... but changing the Screen (dp) setting as sometimes work doesn't actually convince SideSync that it's on a phone rather than a tablet. I'm even running an apk that I TiBu'ed over from my Galaxy S5, so I can confirm that the sidesync apk isn't what decides the platform either.
I still haven't touched my build.prop; that might be part of the equation. It'd be nice to have an xposed module that corrects this on a per-app basis, but it doesn't seem to exist.
So I reach out again to the experts - any other ideas?
Hi all-
Looking for some advice on my new 16gb T800. I've been using it for a couple of weeks; generally happy but there's a few issues. I'm trying to decide if I should root, and then whether I should flash a new ROM. I've checked out the development sections, but since development is already pretty mature, maybe someone who's had this device for a bit might be able to give me advice. Here's the list of things I want:
Lollipop
Less bloat
Ability to install to SD card
Multi-user support
Multi-window for more apps, particularly Kindle (/rant: Why the heck is this feature so limited? It's half the reason I bought this tablet!)
Better MHL support (works fine on my TV but my monitor says "out of range")
disable capacitive buttons and put them on screen
PS3 controller support (over bluetooth)
So.... can anyone suggest what I should do? Simple root? ROM? Something else?
Thanks!
