Can MX Player play DTS sound? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hello guys. I have full version of MX Player, I like this player, so I have simple question: can MX Player somehow play DTS sound (with any codec) on Nexus 7 Gen 2? I really dislike to play everything without DTS on MX Player, and with DTS - on BSPlayer.

I've never tried it myself, but...

mx video player too.

Gingercruzed, Darktremored, V8.5 Supercharged
MX video is excellent, but I could not play videos in hd
+1 on MX.. I've been using it for months, and it worked like a charm
MOBO Player or Daroon Player - I prefer "daroon player" because it is safer and supports mms stream.
I dont really think it matters that much which player you use for hardware decoder
for software decoder(like for hd videso) i think mx player has least lag, iv tried most of the video player softwares, at least the free ones
mono player was the best one I used

[Q] best 720p MKV player for tegra3?

Anyone found apps that play 720p mkv smoothly? (Type of stuff you get off the internet..)
TF101
I use my movie player, works quite nicely with 720p
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
I use Mx player.
You can even choose between HW acceleration or SW acceleration.

MX Player here. Uses HW acceleration, super smooth. Tried Dice Player and VPlayer, had lots of bugs on audio and video was not very smooth.

I tried MxPlayer and DicePlayer and found that DicePlayer gives me better image quality and plays everything I feed it without any problems.
My tip is to try out both Mx and DicePlayer.
bsplayer
I tried MX Player it failed to play MOV format (1080p) it was a trailer later I tried Mobo Player it works like a charm.
I've noticed the same with those players, that they support different formats, so there is no single best player really.
Like someone mentioned, MOV plays nicely with one or two players, while MKV plays nicely with few others.
I simply use 2 players which support all file formats I use.
Coming from Galaxy Nexus, I find these two very good: DicePlayer and MX Player, also heard BS Player to be very good too.

I would rather use the stock player too, but unfortunately it plays my mkv files without sound.
Which would be the better option? Converting the file to fit the stock player, or use players like MX Player to play those files?
Thanks
MX Player. Can switch between SW and HW decoding on the fly, and you can choose for the audio to be SW or HW too, independant of video decoding.
Yeah been using MX for a while, just concern that whether there are any compromises in sound quality when playing mkv with SW acceleration instead of HW

I've never needed to go SW sound before so I can't really say.
I've got a few 720p mkv videos and it doesn't play with sound if it's in HW mode.
The only way for me to play it with sound now is to set it to SW (fast mode or normal one).
So right now I'm just wondering if it's better to re-encode the audio so that the stock player can play it in HW, or just use MX Player and play it in SW.
Will do some experiments after I get back from work

MX can do separate encode modes for video and audio. You can run video on HW and audio on SW if you want.
Dice player plays it all but there is only one little problem with it. While playing videos there are 3 white dots (menu) remain on screen......i hope its updated soon.

Yeah but I wanna try playing the audio on HW. MX can't do that. Dice can though.

[Q] Best Video Player - MKV

Hello
I recently bought Note 2 and came from HTC HD2 with windows phone 7.5
I´m newbie with android but at this moment i love it.
I have a samsung micro-sd Pro 64Gb Classe 10 with 2 mkv films installed, but just only have image with sound with:
BSPlayer Free and VLC
No sound with: Daroon player, Mx player, Mobo Video Player, QQ Player, Dice Player, VPlayer, Double Twist... : Choro:
Do i need to install a sound codec or what!?
Many Thanks and Kind Regards
Perhaps the videos/movies are DTS audio, which is removed due to copyrights. You can find a codec plugin to re-enable it. I forgot which site, try to google it.
In MXPlayer, try switching the audio track, or disabling Use H/W audio Decoder. Found that switching the audio tracked worked in MXPlayer for MKV Videos.
Ue mx player, no need for codecs. Tinker with the settings you might have to enable/disable something
I Sir
I made all audio option with MxPlayer and no good results
I suppose MXPlayer does not support DTS audio..
Try vlc player, works for me
---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 PM ----------
Or get MX Player and use this codec http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831111&page=7
Ive also used this and it works fine
use Dice player...
it is capable of playing dual audio mkv also...
OT.... you come from the htc hd2 ..used wp7.5 on it. ..... but never used Android on it ?... lol
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
What's wrong with the stock player?
I've found that it displays crisper quality videos and also does not have the DTS copyright removal.

I ended up doing this in conjunction with MX player. I believe it was a pack of codecs called NEON.
DTS enabled ffmpeg for MX Player for Note II:

Use H/W for video and S/W for audio.
Tested with MX Player Pro 1.7.7.

Hi, how about you try BS Player. The Player Have codex built-in.
I tried a bunch of players, including Mobo, BS, VPlayer, VLC and the built-in one. I've had the best results with MX Player. Runs the smoothest and also uses the least battery (with HW acceleration), and also can stream from network shares instantly.
If I want to watch a video at accelerated speed, then VLC.
Mx player is the best. Close this thread

[Q] Player for Blu ray rip MKVs

Hello everyone, i have Blu ray rip mkv (from 20-40gb each mkv) in my usb hdd, when i play it on my Galaxy note 2 the video runs fine but without audio and when the video starts a msg appear at the bottom says something about only video is playing. I have MX player pro, PlayerPro, Real Player and i tried on all of them and on defualt video player as well. The funny thing is the tv series episodes like vampire diaries, mentalist, big bang theory i download in 720p rip mkv(from 900mb to 1.5gb) it runs perfectly. Is there some sort of codecs i need for the audio in Blu ray rips i'm trying to play or some other player.
I'll be very grateful for help.

try bsplayer.
I tried all the apps you mentioned with no luck. Bsplayer can play everything i got in my video library.
ok I will, Thanks.
I use dice player. It's played anything I've thrown at it so far and it has a pop up feature as well.
With MX Player Pro try going into settings and changing it from H/W to S/W.. That's what I use and everything I watched plays just fine
bs player handsdown. i tried them all, non of them would play DTS audio mkv file except bs player. unfortunately, stock samsung has better video quality but no sound lol
Actually the stock player should be able to handle them.
I have mx player installed and bs player also.
One thing that bs player has that others don't, playing videos over a Windows share. You can play music videos back to back without needing to select the next song.

Both myself and my brother have played mkv files on our devices with no issues. I have the note II and he has an s III .... not sure what the issue is you are having but I don't think it is the video player... I use stock, so does he.
+1 for BSPlayer, also consider Archos with the additional Codec Add-on
I've found that on my version of the Note II, MXPlayer Pro, the default Video Player, IMToo, all did not work because of the lack of an AC3 codec.
The ones that worked were:
- Archos Video Player (with the Codec Add-On installed)
- BSPlayer
- VLC, however does not play .m4v files
- XBMC, however lags on playback
In the end it was between Archos and BSPlayer. The Archos Player has a better UI along with the ability to bookmark within the video. BSPlayer has the capability of resizing the video to any size, and locking the aspect ratio on-screen. It also connects to opensubs.org to download external subs on the fly, if needed.
Being an XBMC / OpenELEC user, since I'm comfortable with the interface and the plug-in system, I'm hoping that it will be optimized for Android in the future. When that day comes, I will switch back to XBMC. But for now, I flip back between Archos and BS Player.
Thanks for your help guys, my problem is solved

MX Player (std & Pro) on Sony XR65A90J, no 5.1 sound

Hi
I have a Sony TV XR65A90J with a 5.1 amplifier (Yamaha RXV4A)
When using the pre-installed video player, I get 5.1 sound, perfect, no problems.
But when using MX Player (std & Pro) with the same files obviously, I get only 2.0 sound, no matter what settings I use for MX Player and for the TV (obviously passthrough etc)
Please help
