Rooting Archos 79 Cobalt
The ARCHOS 79 COBALT is the same internally as the ARCHOS 70b COBALT.
Both use a RT3026 chip and the only difference being the size of the battery and screen, other than this they are identical.
There is very little information listed on the forums for rooting these model tablets, and Archos theirselves are yet to list firmware on their support website.
As for recovery optiond i cannot seem to get these tablets to load a recovery. An Android picture/logo loads but no options or text is displayed. I have heard some of the older Archos tablets needed a recovery installing also.
If i can find a successful root method i will be able to research these models more. So far i am yet to find a way to get SuperUser on, but my knowledge is limited so i would not know the options available to me. I have tried a program called SuperOneClick which successfully rooted android devices for me before bu it seems to do nothing on starting the ADB service but i don't fully understand what it actually is doing at this point or whether it requires time. I waited 2 minutes and quit the program.

Samsung must have declared something in the manifest that makes the market think HOX is incompatible. Might be the resolution, or something else. The solution - never buy anything other that a vacuum cleaner from Samsung

Same here, although it doesn't do everything Samsung Remote does. The app also stopped working a while ago on iOS 5.1, so apparently they don't give it much thought.
Its 2.2.5.
Hi, I downloaded Flash from this forum and it is working extremely well. However, there are several sites asking for version 11.3. Is there an apk for it? Many thanks!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
This is likely caused by Chrome, as it doesn't support flash, so you'll need to use a different browser.
You probably have flash 11.3 installed - you can check in app manager.
Hi! I use Xscope, which works wonderfully for most sites. My version of Flash is 11.1. I would be very grateful for the apk for version 11.3. Cheers!

I don't have this problem in the stock browser. It is a Chrome issue, or non-issue because its not supported.

I don't believe there is an Android version of 11.3.
The latest version I see on the play store is 11.1.115.12
Oh what a shame!
Thanks for letting me know.

You will find an 11.3 apk download via the Adobe flash archive website. Sorry I don't have direct link but you should be able to Google and find it (look for Flash developer info for tag link)...
Or pm me your email as I have the apk on my N7

Paul from Mocado just created an App to automatically download the latest version:

11.1 is the highest I have as well. I think you're are getting a request for a desktop version of flash which is at ver. 11.3. Maybe try Dolphin Browser and let it access the site as both mobile and/or desktop user agent. I've had the best luck compatibility-wise with Dolphin (Opera is worth a shot also). If the site you're trying to see supports mobile flash, then one of those should work.
Bonne Chance!

Merci! I have discovered that France Télévisions actually works with 11.1 but is not very stable compared with other French streaming sites which do not require 11.3. Never mind, it's better than nothing!
there are a 11.3 for android ?
The computer desktop version is probably at version 11.6 if i am correct. The android version is at 11.1. Using the latest android version freezes the web browsers on unsupported android versions. I tried all the top android browsers that i know of using flash and they all freeze. Purchasing flash player downloaders and browsers from playstore that claims will get you good flash support is a waste of money.

Google Earth runs terribly for me on my 101XS running stock 4.1 - laggy and strange flashing artifacts.
Used to run perfectly on my old G9
Is this the same for anyone else? Has anyone managed to get this running successfully?

I have same problem. It is not to be used.
I used BlueAndroid - V01on my 101xs.
Archos emailed me to say they are testing new firmware that fixes the issue with Google Earth.
They didn't tell me the version number or what other features or fixes will be included.
Hope it's JB 4.2 ...

I have a first gen Kindle Fire. Definitely would love to be running a custom rom (running AOKP 4.2.2 on my phone and love it). But the one and only thing keeping me from experimenting is the lack of Amazon Instant Video app. I know this has been discussed at length, but wanted to know if any progress has been made. I am aware I can view videos from the browser, but I prefer the options run videos from the app and download them for it for viewing later if I'm not on wifi. It's one of my favorite features of the Kindle and if I run a custom rom then that is gone. Hopefully some progress has been made, but from a quick search I can't find anything.

Could a separate app be developed that does that? Of course that's coming from me. I can barely install an app much less develop one. But I'd buy more movies and shows if I was able to use it on more devices I own other than just my Kindle.

Well im sure it would be possible to, but im just going to sit and wait until the Kindle line fails, and then amazon releases the app on android.
Can somebody point me in the direction of a thorough how-to for dual booting? Im definitely over this stock launcher.

Just saw that the Nexus 7 (and possibly the Nexus 7 2013) suffer from gradual slowdown. Lagfix (from the Play Store) was recommended for it.
I'd like to get one of these, but I don't really need it - I have my Kindle HD that I enjoy immensely - I don't have a fast enough 'net connection (DSL) to stream video and I don't play a lot of games. Darn, I hate being practical ...

If you're talking about the TRIMM support type of fix released just recently, I'm not sure if it works for the KF. There is a page on it in the portal and I'm waiting to see the update before I try it myself.
Has anyone tried it yet? I'm quite interested.

404 - so it's safe to run lagfix on a KF1 running CM10.1??
Well, I just checked on my KFHD, and the kernel does not support TRIMM, so it probably wouldn't work for the KF1 either. I'm not sure if Hashcode plans to add support in later versions, but it's something to look into.
