[Q] this my dhd stuck on the boot screen - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey.
Today I was trying to follow this tutorial with my DHD to unlock the bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367322
When I reached the end of the steps, the phone did not start anymore.
is only on the home screen.
Already tried all ways to start, but failed.
when I connect to the pc, it makes the characteristic sound.
but when I try the "adb devices" says my device is not connected.
can someone help me?
thank you

I can already access the HBOT ...
vol-button is a bit flawed, with some way it works.
But cwm recovery does not work.
This is the information that appears

When I try to access the recovey cwm, go to a black screen with a red exclamation point.

this mean..you're already finish process but just missed the two steps..so you just needed do it that steps to completed..
firstly download this stock rom file that already rooted and modified too by Phiber2000 "PD98IMG.zip" in here.. or mirror here..
after that...copied file PD98IMG.zip to the root of your sdcard..then flashing it through your bootloader..and wait until finish..and confirm with power button to reboot..
after that..then you can installing custom recovery download a TWRP recovery from here.. and copied that file to adb.exe or fastboot.exe folder place on your pc...then connect your phone to pc with FASTBOOT mode..then open cmd source to your adb or fastboot.exe folder..and type "fastboot devices" if success detect your phone..then continued typing "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-ace.img" ...done..
now your hboot is already update..and already had recovery too..
just a note..don't forget to Nand backup your rom first before you installing any custom rom you want later..
hope this can help..

Helo JJeamy!
Thanks for reply!
unable to fix as follows:
I formatted the sd card, as it had not seen the recovery, I used this tip XDA_h3n friend and installed the recovery by fastboot.
I downloaded the rom Android Revolution HD 9.2 and installed the recovery.
It worked perfectly!
But I want to install latest roms with sense 4 or 5.
Can you give me a safe procedure, please?
Thank you!
I'm sorry for ridiculous english, I'm brazilian ... jejejeje

yes you don't need to unlock bootloader again...because your bootloader is already ENG S-OFF (Engineering bootloader)..then your bootloader is already open or automatic you can accessed more than just unlocked bootloader
that's why i suggest you to flashing a stock RUU that are already rooted and modified by Phiber2000 that the link is in my previous post above..
if you did it before..than your bootloader will replaced to the version :

hi
I tried to root a HTC Desire HD device
1. Unlocked via HTCdev
2. Installed custom recovery - clockworkmod 5.8.1.5
3. Tried to flash miui 6.1
now the device is stuck on boot ( htc logo)
I tried all the RUU files i could get, nothing works, error 191, 140,155
I created a gold card.
When i insert the empty gold card and reboot the phone, it remains stuck on SD checking
Loading PD98DIAG.zip
any ideas
i managed to get the goldcard working.
Still can't flash, some message about version is older.
Tried different roms.
The RUU exe still throws 191 error.
any ideas
Have you tried running the RUU when the device is in fastboot mode? That worked for me once when I thought I'd bricked it.
tried that.
error 191.
i need something newer that 3.13.0.0 i think
I'm starting to sound like a broken record. If you used the HTC unlock method you have to flash your boot img separately.
After flashing room boot into boot loader select fast boot and flash your roms boot.img
Fastboot flash boot boot.img

Lol.... maybe you ought to keep a copy paste of the answer handy so you don't need to type the same thing over and over again
Sent from a dream.
found the solution.
reboot to fastboot.
unzip the PD98IMG.zip copy the boot.img and system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
after the phone reboots stock 2.3.5 will be on, 3.12.405.1.
Managed to gain root with some zip installed with clockworkmod.
Now i can't find a solution to s-off.

noxaro, if you wanted to gain S-OFF and root, you should have run the Hack Kit...HTCDEV is not a good idea....maybe a little more research would have leaded you here:

hi
i know about the ACE hack kit.
Not working with my Desire HD 3.12.405.1.
i managed to obtain, root, s-off etc..
here are my steps
1.download RUU 2.50.405.2 from http://shipped-roms.com/
2. run it, after the first window, go search on C drive for rom.zip
3. use 7z to unpack
4. copy boot.img and system.img
5.reboot phone in fastboot mode, phone must be unlocked via htcdev method
6.fastboot flash boot boot.img
7.fastboot flash system system.img
8.fastboot reboot.
9. after the phone reboots follow the welcome steps.
- go to development, enable usb debugging, enable unknown sources
- go to power disable fastboot
10.Use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821
11. enjoy root, s-off, clockworkmod recovery
12. now you can flash any rom.

It won't work if u are running GB and downgrade to Froyo...That will mess your bootloader...just don't downgrade to froyo by any means!! Hack Kit works for all builds and version, just have to downgrade first in some cases...

That doesn't sound like works on all builds and versions.
It does not work on the mentioned version 3.12.405.1
I have the same situation. But within a couple of months my phone contract will end and I will extend this with a new phone. At that moment I will try to install some custom ROMS on my Desire HD. So first downgrade to 2.50.405.2, get root and S-Off (which I by the way already have (Ship S-off to be precise))
And than install ClockWorkMod and install custom rom.
I tried to install CWM from fastboot but did not manage to successfully complete this. I think because I have Ship S-Off and not ENG S-Off.

AAHK has supported 3.12.40.5.1 since version AAHK 10122011, It does not and will not support HTC dev unlocked devices. Although version 3.12.40.5.1 does need downgrading, this step is carried out by AAHK. AAHK is by far the safest and easiest method of obtaining root IMHO.

umm...it seems that u need to give a look at the manual again. All builds 3.x are not directly rootable, so you need to downgrade. The Hack Kit prompts you about that, and do it in case you are willing to.
Just one tip, if you install ENG S-OFF you will mess your bootloader...so, I would check the manual and the hack kit thread just see what you not supposed to do..

Yes it does, but a downgrade is needed first. The hack kit automates it all as much as possible, even the initial downgrade.
The bootloader MUST be relocked and the the ROM stock.

Hello,
I tried to flash MoKee Rom yesterday, I downloaded the file from their website but on the screen it told me that there was an error because the rom wasn't for my Desire HD. Tried downloading twice and flash it again and same error appears. So I tried to install Cyanogenmod 11. Everything seems to be ok but when I reboot the phone it doesen't move from the white screen with HTC written on it. What can I do? I did everythime all the wipes needed (cache, dalvick, system). I've unlocked the bootloader with Windroid Tool and installed TWRP recovery with it.
I can get into fastboot and recovery mode. When I get into fastboot I have the following details:

I don't think you can run AAHK on an unlocked bootloader. You need to relock and rerun AAHK. So since you're unlocked S-ON instead of locked S-OFF, you need to fastboot flash a boot.img to get your phone to boot. Details in the PDF in post #7 of the Ace Think Tank thread linked in my signature.

Extract the boot.img file from your rom zip into the '' platform-tools'' folder you made when you unlocked it. Then open up command prompt, type: cd (location of platform tools). Then type: fastboot flash boot boot.img

[Q] Is it possible to S-OFF a device which can only boot to recovery/bootloader?

Hi, i have a HTC Desire HD that can only boot to bootloader and recovery (CWM), when booting to system it stucks on the green htc logo with white background, and i can't use it.
I also tried with placing PD98IMG.zip in the sdcard root, the bootloader flashes it but the system still remains unbootable.
I was wondering if i can put it in S-OFF mode so that i can install a custom rom so that i can at least boot to the system and use the phone.
Is there a way to S-OFF my desire hd with recovery or bootloader=
Thanks in advance
What have you done to it to get it in that state? What does the bootloader say: is it locked or unlocked?

If you have unlocked bootloader you don't need S-OFF to flash Custom Roms..Just download .zip ROM, place it on sd card and in cwm chose "install zip from sd card" ... After that you must flash boot.img..Here is tutorial for everything I say: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168500

Hi, thanks for your answer!
Unfortunately i got the phone in that state, i didn't pay it, a friend gave it to me because it doesn't boot and warranty is out of date.

I didn't know i have to also flash the boot.img, is it a Ace thing? because i also installed a custom rom on my galaxy s+ and i didn't have to flash the boot.img after flashing the custom ROM
The Ace unlock given by HTC is a partial unlock. It sounds like your other phone was a full unlock. And yes, flash the boot.img.

[Q] [SOLVED!]HTC Desire z bootloop

So,
I just bought a Htc Desire z a few days ago. Unlocked the bootloader, Installed CWM. All was going well until I decided to flash a Rom then the phone when into a bootloop and CWM stopped working.
So far I've fixed the recovery through fastboot but I'm still in a bootloop.
Any Ideas?
Additional details:
I'm on Ubuntu, I'm not so good with fastboot(or adb), the phone is a Turkish HTC desire Z, I have a NAndroid back-up right before I flashed the rom. I've tried combining it with the stock recovery. Obviously didn't work.
what's on my HBoot screen

Hi,
VISION PVT S-ON
It means security ON
So, it won't let you flash anything
First, you have to run a rom again (dunno how....
from bootloader what are yours options? You can go to recovery?
if not, maybe installing a RUU from bootloader... But wait, i'm not sure you can...
And then, you'll start again :

No actually I can extract a RUU to a IMG file.
I currently can go into the bootloader(therefore into fastboot) and I can flash recoveries long as they're in img format.
I know this going to sound stupid considering that I got this far but what exactley is a RUU ? I mean I know I got the Hboot update from one but do they contain stock Roms as well?

I strung a few together tutorials but you know they're all same. sudo fastboot oem get_identifier_token. So yes.

in that case you just have to copy the boot.IMG file from the rom you downloaden. Put it in the map with fastboot etc. Then open a terminal and type fastboot flash boot boot.img I dont know if how this works on Ubuntu. But i think its something like that on Ubuntu.

didn't see much on s-off. You do have anything else?
Its in the first post, first you need to get a factory image running and relock your bootloader, then follow the steps in the xda wiki or strawmetals PDF guide. If you don't want to do this and would rather keep secure flags on then then each ROM you flash you will need to fastboot flash the kernel when done
But I highly recommend to get true radio s-off

Sorry for taking your time
You need stock recovery installed for OTA to proceed, no custom recovery.
Check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Or you can go here and use the sdcard method to install the RUU.

That is because you can't flash a recovery with an relocked bootloader !

It is possible to unlock it with the same unlock code that i received?
Problem solved by re unlocking and flash the stock recovery , it happens that it has custom recovery which i dont
remember when i installed it.
another thing , i remember clearly that Unlocking bootloader require erasing data, but when
i was trying to unlock after the first page of unlocking process, it took me to the recovery , and it is done
and no thing erased.
