I tried to post this already but it disappeared... kind of strange... sorry if there are two but its not under my name in my dashboard...
(my first post had back story but I guess its not needed LOL)
Anyway short story I have a VivoTab RT with a broken glass. The digitizer on said glass is acting up clicking randomly on the screen. I will be ordering new glass, but until then Id like to still use my VivoTab... is there anyway to turn off the touch screen? I tried to disable a few different drivers to no help... also I thought there was a setting in control panel to turn it off but maybe they took it out or moved in in Windows RT 8.1? I want this to be temporary since I will be fixing it ASAP just want to keep on using it till then... thank you...
REALLY?!?!?
So there is no way to disable it? All the ways I've found on Google is with Windows 8.1 pro not RT so please let me know even a link... something... I would keep disabling things on the drivers menu but Id get screwed if I disable the keyboard and then it wouldn't work anymore... Id have to restore... I can't believe there is not a quick option to just turn off touch...
Sure there is. You just need to go into the device manager, expand Humand Interface Devices and need to disable "HID-complaint Touchscreen". That's it. I tried it on my Vivo Tab RT.
Why you wanna disable it ?

I would advice you use SmartToolKit RC08 as it works well with the dash, can be downloaded @ http://www.neilmorgan.co.uk/btbbanywhere/closing_applications.htm. Place this file on phone via active sync or beam via bluetooth find it via Filemanager on phone and click on and install. You will need to go into it's options to get it to load @ startup.
Hope this helps.
More software available @ http://www.neilmorgan.co.uk/btbbanywhere/software_good.htm
I've been wondering about this myself... After getting a screen capture on SmartToolkit, how do you get the bitmap to display in your post as a thumbnail? For some reason, I can only get it to be an attachment--but I want it to be visible to everyone as they scroll past my post.

hmm, I've never had a problem with this. All i do is take the screen shot, then put the xx.bmp on the desktop, upload it as an attachment and viola, it's there
if you want, i'll do it right now.
EDIT: I just realized what i did, open image in paint, save it as jpeg and upload the jpeg. it should work fine
Good Luck !
I like "My Mobiler". Free app, runs from your desktop and allows you to control your phone screen and save screenshots directly to your PC.

Are you running WM 6.1/Vista? I'm having trouble connecting it. Ok, i tried everything but it just does not connect, Ahh - Even tried connecting from the phone. Nothing happens. Just says connecting but never ends up connecting.
Can someone else try it out & tell me if it's working for them or not?
You know what, It's the damn firewall in vista but even after i turned it off, it's not working.
Oh well, nevermind
VISTA SUCKS - There you go, had to say it.

Pocket Controller Pro by SOTI is the way to go my friend
If only there a was a way to write sms's as well on the desktop, that'd be great...!
I use Smart SS
http://www.louterrailloune.com/smartss/
I also notice that there is now Smart SS+
http://www.louterrailloune.com/smartss-2/
I like that it is a small specific app without all the other junk like Smart Tool Kit. Not that I don't like Smart Tool Kit but it has a lot of stuff in it and if all you want is a screen shot than this app will do.
Seems like SMart SS+ will allow you to take .png and .jpeg as well as .bmp
Thanks for all the links guys, I will def try these out.

Edit:
can a mod please move this thread?
You want to control the phone, from your PC? Hmm.. I don't even know if it's possible. Kind of a reverse remote desktop but a remote phone instead. Huh. I think the limiting issue will be that you would need an app that always runs on the phone. I know you can lock it, track it, wipe it, etc with WaveSecure, but actually control it? Beyond accessing files and folders, I don't know that you could remotely control the phone.
This should probably go in the apps and themes forum rather than Q&A, if there's an app out there they might know of it.
It is not free but Phone my PC worked great on the Hero, have not checked with the Evo as we have no trackball.

Yeah, I love PhoneMyPC, I use it all the time. $10 very well spent. But that controls your PC with your phone, he wants to control his Phone with his PC! So were backwards here.
Hi, I've just found a pretty mockup of Windows 10 Mobile here and wanted to ask you whether it would be possible to tweak the system in the way that it lights up the menu buttons when there's a notification pending? How do you think?
+1 would love this feature!
For Android this is possibile, if you can install APKs you can try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939 however the developer can try to develope something like this.
For samsung's phone there is an app called BLN, it's a great app I used it on my Samsung rooted phone and use the buttons light like a led but, if I don't mistake, it required something to add on the kernel.
finger cross someone make it happen
Yes please
Look my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...ptweakers-2015-08-17-added-5th-quick-t3180474
You can modify registry to turn off led on hardware button.
so i think it can be very easy to use as notification !

The issue at hand is making it work with the screen off. And even if you can light the LED's, you won't just get the windows button, you'll also be getting the back, and search buttons. If we can find a way to turn on/off ONLY the windows button, this would be amazing. Now, having said that, I would still use it with all 3 flashing at once.

What's the registry key for the lights? Can they be enabled when the screen is off? If so I'll try to write a script to do this.

Do you have any knowledge in how the sound events work? Example: Open WPTweaker, go to Sounds, then find SMS. What I want to do is see how the SMS messages are handled, and how it knows to send a sound.

Good news!
After a long search, I found a video which (assuming that the button hardware is similar between Lumias) proves that JUST the windows button could be flashed.

This isn't even a started product yet. We know it's possible, but none of us truly understand how to link it with messages.
In 930 you can't make blink only windows button becouse it have only one channel for all three lights. In 925 I think it have 3 seperate channels.

I was given one and I would like to drop ubuntu on but can't seem to find how to reset it. the previous owner doesn't remember the password so I am locked out of root to. Info on this tablet seems to be kinda sparse across the net. I'll reply here with anything i can manage to dig up.

Hi there, I come to you with a huge request for help. First of all, I'm not a developer, but I know how to google hehe, so I've done my research before opening a thread, I promise!
This morning, my phone wouldn't turn on. I charged it and did the usual (pressing power button, etc etc) but all I get is a vibration and LED, but the screen is totally black and dead.
I've found this bible but A) I don't have windows B) wow, it looks quite complicated for an ignorant like me (at this topic)
Would you guys know if there's a Macintosh version of the process, so I could at least try?
Unfortunately, I just moved to a new country and have not many friends, let alone DEVELOPERS friends hehe.
Thanks a lot in advance

There seems to be a workaround though it may involve a lot of work. See this: https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/34ku0o/urgent_hard_brick_with_a_mac/
