Hi guys
i want to now why is my xperia M getting so hot????
just by turning on the screen makes the smarthphone going up to 41 degrees celsius
no apps runing, nothing, just turn the screen, iddle is on 29 degrees just turn the screen on and you will have 39 to 41 degress
i used to have the 15.1.A.1.9 firmware because in my country (colombia) service is S&%$t so i read in some posts on google that
upgrading the phone to the 15.1.C.2.8 will solve the problem, so i rooted my phone and change the regional SI code for the one of New Zeland
then i upgraded my phone version and is still heating up a lot, it is still the same
is in the back part of the phone from the SONY logo up to the headphone jack, camera and the front call speaker
is annoying to answer a call with those temperatures
is someone experience this or should i make something to fix it????
i cant ask for warranty because i change the regional code, so the cellphone shows now TELECOM new zeland Instead of CLARO colombia
thanks
PDT: sorry if i wrote something wrong i am from colombia and still learning english

download ADVANCED TASK KILLER from PLAY STORE
this helped me before
Even though this Topic is old and the probable sollution was not available back then, but I haven't had issues with either 4.1.2 and especially now on 4.3.
It would eventually go up to about 40+ degrees celsius when on full load, and I got 47 degrees a few days ago on the beach, obviously due to the sun.

I will try
It's not just 3g, Processor can contribute to it aswell. If you don't mind about slight degraded performance, underclock. It'll save battery too.
If you choose to do this, You are responsible, not me.

Hi Guys,
To conserve the battery on my defy I enabled the "2G only" option but the moment i enable it, my signal bar shows only 2 bars and finally it goes to the emergency call mode. The signal strength is fine in other phones in the same area, It was working fine till last week. But this new issue started from past two days. Do you think the issue is related to service provider?
First i thought setvsel might be causing the issue but even after setting default values in setvsel i face the same issue, Also did a factory reset and reflashed the 1ff but still same issue. somebody please help me..
My MB525 has stock eclair rom, Rooted, and Airtel is my service provider.
If it worked, and you did not install a new SBF, or you did not changed things in your system, then it should not be your problem, you could be your provider problem. You should try with a new SIM card. It happend to me, that my SIM has broken, and i had not signal on my phone, and i had to replace it.
Other problem, could be some hardware problem, but you should check the SIM first, and do some more investigation.
Well.. it works fine if I set it to "automatic" mode, But the battery drains fast, since its 3G signal.
I reflashed the sbf after i got this issue. And you are right Ill try with another sim and see how it works..
or try the baseband switcher?
Its almost certain you have an incorrect baseband. ROMs Wrong baseband causes "red cross when switching between 2g only 3g only, 1 bar signal, drops in calls, slow 3g speed. etc."
Just install a baseband who's valid for your country and you are good to go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944258
In post number 71 you can download a program who install the desired baseband with the tap of a finger.
It worked... Thanks a lot unrafa

Did you get 3G while choosing WCDMA Only?
If Yes,means you have to do it manually everytime you reboot your device.
If No,means you don't have a 3G data plan.
If you reboot your device mean while it will again set to prefered WCDMA so everytime you need to do it manually. Just to remember if you're getting 3G even on prefered WCDMA then leave it as it is. I think it's an issue regarding weak carrier signal.

Its not the build prop. Its how HTC designed the DHD.
The DHD isnt quadband, You can check the specs at gsm arena.
Some countries have thier 3g on a different band, so if you buy a DHD that doesnt scan for 3g on your countries band, you face the same problem.
I have being trying to fix this problem but got stuck along the way. Its very good to see that people also have the same problem. Maybe the devs would try something.

Nope..
Before i can try anything i have to put the device in diag mode which i have being able to, but the problem now is the device isnt showing up properly in QPST(a program for communicating directly to the qualcomm chip).
It detects the open port on windows but its unable to find the phone in the port.
If the phone doesnt show up in the port, changes cannot be done.
So thats the update.
If you have any idea, you could share
WCDMA
goto mobile network under settings, then select network mode, change it to GSM/WCDMA auto if it doesnt work then change it to WCDMA only.
It'll do the trick.
I am in a fix here!!! Since long I have been facing this problem wherein, whenever I switch to 3G/4G mode, my phone looses network forever.. It seems to work perfectly fine in 2G mode.. I tried everything.. playing with radios, factory resetting and all the other help that I could get but in vain. I thought it is a hardware issue and since mine is an imported one, and I don't have warranty, I was avoiding to take it to a repair centre.. A week back, I went to Malaysia for a trip, and as I put a local SIM, my 3G starts working perfectly fine... I thought it could be a radio issue and as I came back to India, to my surprise my old local SIM was working fine in 3G mode yet again!!! I thought somehow my problem was sorted!!! It worked for 2 days and it is back to the old problem now.. no 3G whatsoever!!!! Please help me guys!!!
I was just browsing and I read an samsung user facing the same problem.. The carried switched his normal SIM to USIM.. and it started working.. could this be a valid issue?
try this.

If changing the settings in Phone Info did not help I have to agree that you need a different sim or different APN settings.
The same SIM works with the same APN in other phones... and even if it was an APN issue then the data would have been a problem.. But i don't even get network in 3G..

Post as much detail about your problem, if you want to get help.
What version M8?
Is it modded (custom ROM, root, s-off) or stock?
What region/carrier, and more importantly, what bands used for 3G and LTE?
What does it say for OS number in bootloader screen?
You've verified the SIM works for 3G and/or LTE on another device?

According to the following webpage, the 3G band used by Airtel is Tanzania is 2100 MHz (900 and 1800 listed are only for GSM/2G): http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
As this webpage also lists " 4G LTE TTCL" I will have to assume you got the info from the same or similar website. And that doesn't tell us what band your carrier uses for LTE/4G.
The 3G band 2100 MHz is supported by your current firmware. Make sure you have properly input the APN info for your carrier in the phone's settings.
LTE is trickier. Even with the proper band support and APN, you might not get LTE using an M8 version not intended for your region/carrier. But 3G should be possible.
I did but the 4G symbols is showed on the network bar once in a while. And it does not last long when it shows up!
For the TTCL sim card i can not access the network at all since it does not allow 2G services!
The same here. I face the problem yesterday =)) LTE icon show for the first time and then after a reboot, 3G and LTE signal gone forever =)) Now Edge only. Trying to fix it.
I have played with buildprop before.... i found a place that said to change "ro.telephony.default_network" to "2"... this doenst work... it constantly switches back to hdspa....
i have better reception though, under umts.
if i go into my actual network settings, the default is always "gsm/cdma auto (prl)"... unless i specifically change it to "wcdma only"
I have consistently 5 bars with wcdma, 4 at the worst...... under the gsm/hdspa, i have normally 3 bars but often 2, 4 at absolute best but quite rare....
is there a *real* buildprop edit that will actually fix this??
thanks!
eta:i already have my phone set to use my home network only (manual network)... so its not trying to roam, ever, and thats why signal is down....
anyone?
The only method known to work seems to be configuring the bands in service mode but that is not boot persistent.

in service mode, you mean the #*#* number thing?? if thats the case, i have tried that and even that reverts after like 5 minutes, not even a reboot required to revert that one either.......
a good example of why i want to do this is at work last night... on the gsm network, one tiny bar, my phone was struggling. switched it to wcdma, and bang, 4 bars.
i dont work in a basement or anything either. smaller 1 floor building with many windows.

Well I can speak for sediROM only but I can NOT confirm your mentioned back switch. I have configured WCDMA only or also specific bands only and they keep until a reboot..
Baseband service mode:
*#*#2263#*#*
Keep in mind never using the back button here!!! only menu button and then back!

Giving this a try right now...
I decided to try wcdma only (instead of picking just one band)....
it does seem to help. the weird part is that if i go into my phones about section to see which type of band its on, at times it will still say the hdspa, but the reception remains so much better. its weird.
So im not sure if one of the bands in wcdma (it stars 3, although only 2 are available on my carrier), could also be a band of hdspa and thats why the name change?
it does seem to help reception though so far, regardless of the name it gives it.
just wish it stayed after reboot

When you want to choose individually select "wcdma only" and then go back and go to "combi bands". Then select all bands one by one (select one and use menu button - back! - select the next one and so on) .
Don't know what your carrier uses for bands and which one would be the correct ones for you sorry. Ask your provider he can tell you more hopefully.
Dont hesitate to use the incredible thx button if my post had helped you
.
it did actually help! I added that number to get to bands as a contact, so i just go in and press *# and it brings up the rest.
its actually not so bad , it takes a second each reboot but its not bad at all.
Hello everyone, first of all I would like to apologize because I am French and I don't speak English very well, but I think you are my last hope for the trouble I am currently experiencing.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975F) with a Rom Surcouche Operator Bouygues Telecom :
- N975FXXU4CTE9/N975FBOG4CTE9/N975FXXU4CTE9
I wanted to remove my Bouygues Telecom Rom Operator to install a Samsung Rom Stock without any overlayer operator. The operation is well finished so I am now on the Samsung Rom Stock:
- N975FXXS6DTI5/N975FOXM6DDTH7/N975FXXS6DTI5
Except that since this change of Rom I have almost no more 4G+ where I live knowing that before I was always in 4G+ So I would like to know why just by having changed the Rom I lost my 4G+. ( Worries which lasts since September 21st, 2020 ) I wanted to go back but I passed from a bootloader 4 to a bootloader 6
Knowing that I'm with the Free operator, I tested my Free SIM card in my wife's Samsung, I'm getting 4G+ so the problem is not my SIM card, I also sent my phone to Samsung, the phone has no hardware anomaly so it's from the change of Rom, I tried to reinstall the same problem, I also made the wipe I tried everything ...
I also have at home a 4G+ router with a 4G+ plan with the operator Free and I am in 4G+ at full speed ...
I hope to get some help from you because on the French forums I don't have a single answer ... Thanks in advance for your help and sorry again for my english
Test the internet speed on both phones using your sim's data plan with speedtest. If the speed is the same in both then the problem of the 4G indicator is only aesthetic.
Hello bigcalvin, unfortunately I have tested but the speed is not the same at all in 4G+ I go up to 235Mb/s while in H+ I go up to 3Mb/s so there is no problem with the 4G indicator

Have you tried in different areas? What it seems like, is that the stock Samsung ROM is not compatible with your carrier. With system on a chip (SoC), carriers can turn off bands that they don't need, or as a means of locking you into their network.

Honestly I'm not going to lie to you I've tried everything I've tried a Bouygues télécom rom (bog) a SFR rom (sfr) a France télécom rom (ftm) and a Samsung stock France rom (xef) with my old Bouygues télécom rom (bog) bootloader 4 I always get the 4G+ since I changed my rom and I switched to bootloader 6 I never get the 4G/4G+ again and I sometimes get the 4G+ logos but there are 10 seconds left and then switch to the H+. ..
Hello, sorry for the double post but I don't know where to find help you wouldn't have a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance
I don't understand anything anymore on this phone knowing that my wife and at free and I can receive the 4g very well. I have a 4g router, I can receive the 4g free and my phone since the update doesn't receive anything anymore, I have to go out of my house and walk a good 100 meters to hope to receive the 4g whereas I didn't have this problem before I made the really strange update...
No one would have a solution to give me or manipulation to do I take all the information.
Try a "reset network settings" if you haven't already.
Clear the system cache on the boot menu; it never hurts to do so.
Hi, thank you for your answer unfortunately I have already reset the network settings I have also done the factory settings system cache also reinstallation of a new rom I had to do it about twenty times but still nothing :/

Yeah pretty basic stuff... that's all I got
Most likely a settings issue but you probably know more than myself at this point to troubleshoot this problem.
Try doing Google searches and view the results for other Samsung phone models and years.
Most times I can find a solution like this or trip over it as an indirect result while searching.
Some of the Samsung software issues have been around for years...
I've already searched everything on google I'm French I've searched on English forums and everything but I can't find anything at all.
I am in France with the mobile operator "Free" which uses the frequencies 700mhz/1800mhz/2600mhz I would like to know if there is a possibility on this phone to choose the frequency that I want one by one I have the impression that it is my 700mhz frequency that has a problem on my phone :/
By using the free App 'Shortcut Master (Lite) from Google Play, you can get access to the Network Settings. In there you can make Band Selection, allowing you to test network connections and performance per band (=frequency) or combinations of bands.
See following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...guide-hidden-network-settings-exynos-t3995501
Hope this helps!
Hello OnnoJ, unfortunately I have already tested with this application so it doesn't work. However I compared everything with my wife's phone a Samsung so I have exactly the same settings as on her phone ...
I have to go out of my house and walk a good 200 meters to hope to get 4G, however I specify that before I made this famous update I was always in 4G at home inside and outside of the house and this is not a concern of the mobile operator because otherwise my wife would have exactly the same problem as I have now and I would also have exactly the same problem on my 4G router ...
I think I've done everything and above all I've tested everything and unfortunately I had Samsung on the phone and they put the blame on the operator whereas as explained above my 4G router and my wife's phone have exactly the same mobile operator so they would have the same problem as me ... ...
I would try to revert to the newest firmware that your carrier uses, just to see if the issue is about the bands, search for the latest firm for your carrier, provided that it is of an equal or higher bootloader version to the one you currently have installed, that is what I would do

I use it all the time, as it helps me at home and at work to make the optimum band selection for that specific location to prevent hopping between different cell towers and to have a stable and fastest possible 4G+ connection. CellMapper app allows me to see connection possibilities with the various cell towers and their power.
Hello winol, I can't go back to my old Rom because I had a bootloader of 4 and now I switched to a bootloader of 6 so I can't go back :/)
