Good day xda,
My problem is that, after I installed a Custom ROM (specifically the lastest of CM11 nightly), I'm having a lot of errors like "Unfortunately, LG Keyboard AOSP bla bla bla has stop", "Unfortunately, phone has stopped", "Unfortunately, com.googleapps. bla bla bla has stopped" and my back button does not work anymore. I also tried their stable release and I got a lot of errors too, back button not working and keyboard not working so I cannot type a message. Of course I also installed gapps. I tried their stable release because I thought it's "stable" and now I am back at the stock rom.
What should I do?

Thanks man. Will try this. Feedback later.
Just want a feedback. I already installed a custom rom cm-10.2.0 with gapps for Android 4.3 and it works fine. What I want is to have my apps and data and pictures be in my new custom roms. I tried to flashed the "update.zip" provided in TB but only the apps are restored and the data on it didn't restore. Same goes to pictures, contacts and messages.
Guys, please let me know if:
1. Is it possible to moved or installed to a new custom rom and restore ALL your data from your previous rom including, pictures, contacts, messaging data, the apps and the data?
2. Is it possible to update the custom rom?
Please help me. I'm a newbie in android.
Help me please.

Hey bro ,yes you can have old data but not the apps but they carry space on your phone ....you can later explore them through apps like ES File Explorer which can be found in play store....you can have data which is present in your internal memory storage but none of your apps after flashing as it is fresh ROM
all you need to do is unchecked your internal storage while flashing the ROM
PS if you find lots of errors in the ROM ..try different ROM ..Stock is best if you ask me personally ..you can get the stock ROM in forums
Try and let me know

Hi all,
Have anyone experienced memory corruption before? (I think that is what is it, or maybe it is mount point failure?)
The symptoms:
1) Every processes in the background force-close: Google Framework services, Titanium Backup etc.
2) Launching a program that saves anything will force-close.
3) Launching a program will ask you to reconfigure its settings again.
The fix is to reboot the phone, and everything will be working again.
I am running the latest custom ROM from cowithgun (w/o OC).
What kind of system log file I can view to see what actually happens?
Any help/clue is appreciated. Thanks.
before thinking your phone is broke I would suggest, take the latest stock Rom ,do a full wipe (also Dalvick cache) flash it and see if your problem is gone.
good luck
AdliHebat, do you have any info for us? Did you solve it? What was the culprit?
No. But i have not yet have a chance to revert stock rom yet. I am living with it right now. Need a reboot every day.

It has now become very irritating to me. I suspected corrupted memory card or something like that. The custom ROM is using swapped sdcard, and I guess my sdcard is not very good.
So I have:
1) Create Titanium backup
2) Copy back files i needed to my PC from my sdcard
3) flash back stock 2.3.6 ROM
4) Format Sdcard, format internal usb
5) Root using update.zip method
6) flash CWM
7) Clear cache, clear data, clear dalvik through CWM
8) Remove unnecessary apps and restore my apps/data from Titanium backup.
Seem stable so far.
If you suspect SD card corruption, you can use Mini-Tool to do surface test, it's free and can be used for loads of useful stuff.......

Just some update.
I have tried
1) latest oc-COW ROM with sdcard swap -- problem still there. USB Storage unexpectedly removed.
2) latest oc-COW ROM with sdcard not swapped -- no longer USB Storage unexpectedly removed, but apps will start force close, and in some apps it is telling you database read-only.
3) Go back to stock ROM -- rooted of course. Stable for 2 days.
4) Flash only oc-kernel from latest COW ROM to my stock ROM. Starts to have apps force close after 2 hours.
5) Restore back my nandroid backup of step 4, so supped to be the same like step 4. Hopefully this will last..
So no luck for me on running custom ROM so far. (I did make my own custom ROM without tweaks--remove and add apps and seems stable, but what the point)
Waiting for my class 10 micro-SDcard...

No, mine only happens on custom ROM. Stock ROM is stable.
And it never restart.
I restart myself after those apps force close.

Ok that fine..
You use Titanium back up after flashing custom ROM right..
Probably it cause by not complete back up before
If you wanna try,
Just do factory reset after you flashing Custom ROM and install all apps without titanium backup..*homework

Now that you mentioned it, i never use the format/wipe menu under the mount and storage option.
Maybe next week...i want to convince myself the phone is stable.
please i need help with my phone is going crazy. after i root and flash my first deodex room( i follow every single steps guys) my msg app and web browser are crashing like crazy everytime im texting or browsing anything it crashes like crazy, the apps just dissapear, either the msgs app or internet browser. then i mobile odin stock room, and took the phone to sprint, they reset the phone( great) everything was good and stable they told me the apps were crashing because i had install 3rd party apps ( i say to my self, 3rd party apps, bro phone was rooted but stock deodex) well everything was normal until i get home again and root my phone, stock odex rooted(no problem) then i flash all the great custom rooms we have for this beast,(blazer,sonic...etc) no luck, im stock on cm10 because if i go back to odex none of the custome apps work because they are for deodex rooms, the funny thing is my girl have the same phone running team sonic room since day one and eveything is good, smooth, no fc, no crasing apps, so please if any other member have the same problem and found a solution, ill appreciate ur help, because i like stock features, but in my phone they crash, please help, and thanks for ur time...
Are you doing Factory Reset/Data wipes when flashing new ROMs
Also what type of "3rd Party" apps are you installing? May be a rogue app
One more thing, just so I'm clear, on Regular stock firmware (not rooted) everything is fine, but when you root and install custom firmware the crashes come forth?
What about just stock/rooted? Do you get those crashes after flashing CWM Recovery and SU on the stock ROM?

When I install a rom, I wipe data, wipe cache, then go to mounts and storage and format system, that will guarantee the cleanest install.
yes guys i always do a clean/fresh install...
when im on stock "odex" im good, stock rooted odex room, im good too, the msgs and internet browser app start crashing as soon i flash a deodex room, i have no idea why, i did the same process on my girl s3 nothing happen, and like i said i try flashing blazer, team sonic, etc and all they crash on my phone, but stock odex room/ rooted odex no crash so ever...i dont know if my phone scare of deodex room im going crazy

I am kind of stuck and have searched endlessly...
I am rooted and running AOKP - d2att (4.2.1 JOP40D) Build 1.17.2013
AT&T Samsung Galaxy SIII i747
I am trying to update the Rom - Everytime I have updated, I get the "unfortunately, android keyboard (aosp) has stopped" error. I just restore a backup and go to my older version again.
I was preparing to make another backup and noticed I'm out of space, my System Data is taking up 7,938MB!!! I have no idea why or how it got so out of control. I attempted to just do a Factory Reset, it looked as if it worked... however nothing was wiped.
Right now I'm just at a crossroads. I like the custom Rom (minus some serious flaws) but want to be able to update and have some free space. But I'm starting to think returning it to the stock firmware and just settling might be easier?
Any ideas on where I can clear up some space or what I can do to battle the AOSP error? Is there another Rom that may be a better choice, iI know they aren't "better" but an equal alternative maybe. I'm fairly new to all of this but have a decent understanding, I made a switch to Android after owning purely Iphones since the 3G.

Once I download the update I reboot into recovery. wipe cache and dalvik cache. I make a backup and then..
-install zip from sdcard
-choose zip from sdcard
then pick the downloaded update and then repeat the process with the gapps.
Once it loads, all my contacts and things appear there.. with the AOSP error.
I think after explaining this and reading your post, I should do a full wipe and install the newest version of the ROM. I hate to be a pest, what would be the best way to do this. I have Titanium Backup Pro. I really only care about my contacts and text messages and some apps.

You have have to flash the updated gapps if you aren't. They are made for 4.2.2 and nothing earlier. If you flash the same gapps as you flashed earlier you'll get loads of issues.

Ok, so I have ran the update gapps as well previously. A current status update. I backed up all my pictures, contacts and ran backup of system data with Titanium Pro. I wiped cache, cleared the Delvik cache, wiped data.. just realized I wasn't going into Mounts and Storage and not doing a format /system. That might explain why it was getting so massive. After doing those in the correct order, I flashed the ROM and Gapps and new Kernal. Its currently booting...
Success.. Its up and running the new Rom, however.. I have a new question. I have no apps and everything is back to how it all started. I know I can run titanium backup and restore things. But google is automatically installing my apps back one by one. There has to be a correct way to do this? I'm patiently waiting for it to install titanium so I can restore my texts and settings.

you dont have to make a backup every single time you want to update. thats whats taking up all your internal memory. i have 1 stock backup that i made the day i flashed aokp 4.1.2 and then 1 backup of my current setup. if i ever want/need to restore, i'm all set. if you want to make a backup every single time, move the older files to your PC and keep your most recent 1 or 2 on the phone. that'll give you enough space to move forward

Google restoring apps is an option you set during the one time initial setup.
you shouldn't be restoring system data, and it sounds like you're doing that. there are apps to restore texts easily. one that I use is sms backup and restore, which works well and takes maybe a minute.
it's cumbersome to remember every setting so I'd suggest writing them down or something similar.

Hi all,
I recently rooted my wife's Wildfire S phone and installed the Marvellous CM10 ROM on it. It worked great but I had to go back to a Stock ROM due to the data bug in the ROM.
I created a sd-ext partition, and installed Link2SD (int2ext was again giving the data bug). I moved quite a few of apps to the SD card, including the Play Store. However, after some time I realized that the Play Store app is missing. Any ideas what could have been the problem?
Btw I also tried flashing the lite-googleapps zip which djoliver had linked in one of his posts. However that didn't work. My guess is that the zip is for JB whereas the stock ROM has Gingerbread, which could be leading to an incompatibility. Is there a flashable zip that I can use to bring back the Play Store?

Try flashing the stock rom again......and you simply shouldnt flash Gapps of any android version on the stock rom

Yup that's the last option. But what I was wondering was if there is any workaround without flashing the ROM again.

Do a factory reset. It may help.

If you don't want to risk stability due to a workaround....then i'd advise you to reflash or factory reset
Thanks guys. I tried a factory reset, but the Play Store app kept on crashing. So did a reflash and everything is working fine now

There is no way for it ... Different Rom have different base and lot of changes flashing over existing Rom can make Rom Unstable and you will land getting lot of FC's and wierd stuffs ...Hence always wipe data/factory reset before/after installation of new Rom ...

Try using Titanium Backup pro!
You can use Titanium backup. It backs up apps along with user data. I think it can pretty much solve your problem. :good:
