Hi,
First of all i apologize that i have tried to root my HTC Desire HD A9191 without thinking that i am not a developer or this is not a easy chapter.
Before start rooting, my mobile status is shown in beforerootingstatus.jpg and After messing my bootloader details are shown in bootloader.jpg.
After following guides i started from installing VISIONARY and SU apk and started Temp rooting but here i stuck first time and its display me nothing again. after reading a lot i got that i have to downgrade first to run visionary. Then i follow downgrade guides and never able to complete that steps that i followed here
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
I have tried few RUU to install but failed too. Currently i have only access to my boot-loader and second is recovery ( 4EXT Recovery Touch ). Also tried installing few Rom e.g DHD_WWE_3.12.405.1_STOCK_rooted_by_nitr00 but after installing it mobile stuck at HTC logo and loop with a sound.
I have also tried aahk2_v2.15_public and hack-ace ( efffen-manual ) but its never completed and never download the file that needs to finish it.
Tried few stock RUU as well but its comes with error 311 Client ID or wrong signature or Model ID error
In the Process of downgradation and reading to many forums i have now stuck at HTC boot screen and i cannot able to access it further. I need an help from here what to do now from here so i can use my mobile with any custom ROM or any Stock Rom

I have no words how i can say thanks to you. You save my life at this step and finally i can see my mobile working again. i was just skipping one step and spend 3 days in it. Thanks again
Thanks to @ JJeamy and @dr.patron99 for saving my life here. Now here is few more help needed i will be really grateful to both of you.
Can i now install this Rom same way as i did with above rooted ROM and flash boot.img from zip inside in the end ?
Code:
http://en.miui.com/download-12.html
or
i have to root my mobile first with S-off procedure that @ JJeamy posted above and then i can able to install MIUI Rom in my mobile. I asked just in case because i don't want to spend next week again in whole trying this procedure.
This guide is if you wanna gaining S-OFF your phone..IF you just wanna your phone can installing custom rom..then your phone is had enough already unlocked bootloader and you can just following direction from drpatron99 post below..
what about if you tried return to the stock first..relock your bootloader first from FASTBOOT mode with fastboot command "fastboot oem lock"..then after that you can continued flashing RUU from here..
after your phone is already return to the stock and can boot normally..then you can continued trying all process from the beginning...
1. because the downgrade RUU file for your CIDnum of your phone is not available..then firstly you must create a goldcard..just use the tool from here.., and make sure..just using sd card brand that are already mentioned in the AAHK2 thread..and formatted as FAT32 allocation file size is 4096 bytes
2. download the downgrade RUU file from here..just tried choices PD98IMG_GB4 and put in PD98IMG folder in sub folder AHHK2 script..
3. download the latest HTC driver from here.. , just the driver not HTC sync..if you already had HTC sync then just uninstall it..and leave just the driver
4. enabling USB debugging your phone from System settings>Applications>Development> thick USB debugging and don't forget to disable Fast boot mode too from System settings>Power> unthick Fast boot
5. disable all your antivirus..then connect your phone to pc as charging mode only..
6. right click AAHK2 and running as administrator..and follow instruction to downgrade first..after that..if your downgrade is success..then you can continued running AAHK2 script again for a second time to completed all process gaining s-off your phone..
7. if all success then.. you must flashing stock rom that are already rooted by phiber2000..you can downloaded from here..
8. installing custom recovery like 4EXT or TWRP
9. download custom rom
10. do a Nand backup from recovery..
11. installing custom rom..
12. done..enjoy it..
hope this can help..
Try it again....

Sir,Since i'm also new to this forum but i haven't got this far as you mention here,But wanted to pay your attention here that On first pic bootloader.jpg as it shown here it says ***UNLOCKED*** which mean you're free to load any custom rom, here also shown that you're S-ON which mean after every successful installation of custom rom you need to flash boot.img from fastboot in order to boot your device properly. In case when you will have S-OFF that option is not necessary.
You also mention that you did try "DHD_WWE_3.12.405.1_STOCK_rooted_by_nitr00" rom which android 2.3.5 stock rooted custom rom.you said after installation you stuck at htc logo because in order to run you need to flash boot.img via fastboot type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Once it will show complete than type "fastboot reboot" and your device will now able to run as smooth as before,if everything goes nicely,i did the same way so try it and let me know.
Thanks.

Hi All,
I need to preface this by saying I'm a total noob when it comes to rooting, customizing, etc. I've spent the better part of two days reading, doing and failing and I've basically exhausted my abilities and desperately need some help getting my Desire HD back up and running. I apologize in advance for this wall of text.
Here's everything I've done:
1. Went through the HTCDev bootloader process to unlock my phone. HBOOT status: *** UNLOCKED ***
a. This involved whiping the phone and downgrading
2. Installed ClockworkMod
3. Through CWM, backed up current state which was basically factory reset
4. Tried to flash Blackout. It failed with a file_write error.
5. Tried to flash Jelly Time which didn't work either. Just hung at white HTC screen.
6. Restored backup and started Googling.
7. Eventually noticed that my phone was still S-ON, which seemed to be an issue. Read that I should try Advanced Ace Hack Kit utility.
8. Found out AAHK needed to start in locked state. Relocked bootloader (fastboot oem lock). HBOOT status: *** RELOCKED ***
9. Tried to run AAHK, it failed with a bunch of errors. I realized that I still had ClockworkMod as my recovery so I went on a hunt to try to get back to stock.
10. Tried rerunning the downgrade RUU from the HTCDev process but it failed with some error (I think it was model ID or something).
11. Tried hunting around for other stock Telus RUUs, but they also failed to install with errors. (I should probably have noted them).
12. As a last ditch, I tried to use the AAHK utility to return to stock. It seemed to be working, but then went back to the main menu after a couple minutes and I didn't get to see any errors. The phone remained at the black HTC screen until I rebooted it manually.
13. Phone hung at white HTC screen.
14. Went back into CWM, wiped and tried to restore
15. Phone hangs at white HTC screen.
This is where I am currently. I still have CWM installed instead of stock recovery. My current HBOOT is
Code:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.85.0024
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.10.04.03_M
eMMC-boot
Apr 12 2011, 00:55:45
It doesn't mention anything about locked, unlocked, relocked.
I can't get into the phone, so I'm guessing I have to do everything through fastboot at the moment. I have no idea what to do at this point, so I hope I've included enough details for you folks to diagnose my problems.
I contemplated unlocking the bootloader again and trying the restore from CWM, but I figured I've done enough damage and now it's time to ask the experts.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!
Poor dude...custom ROM install gone wrong
I recommend trying the HTCDev root process again with the bin file you got from HTCDev website, if that works you should be able to restore your insatll from CWM and atleast have a working phone. I remember that working.
Cya on Monday
The reason why it would hang at the HTC screen is because you failed to flash the boot.img. this has to be done seperately . Now to get a working phone you need to run an ruu. If you could run this from fast boot so we know which to run.
Fastboot getvar all
Well need cid and software version

Perfect. All you need to do is flash the telus ruu or pd98img if you have a card reader. You can follow my guide for a step by step if needed. It also has links for the files you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396229
Also if you want you can run these commands to flash the pd98img without a card reader. Been meaning to add this method to the guide.
So you can download the telus pd98img zip and place it in your fast boot folder.
Then run fastboot OEM rebootRUU
then fastboot flash zip PD98IMG.zip
Usually the ruu method is the easiest (one in my guide) but goo host file server can be finicky and might be faster to download the pd98 zip
Thanks for the advice. I followed your second steps and used fastboot to flash the zip.
Everything went fine, there were no errors in the command prompt and it finished with "OKAY". The problem is that my phone is stuck at the black HTC screen and the green progress bar is around 95% complete. Is everything ok? Do I just run "fastboot reboot" now?
When this is done, will I be back to stock recovery as well, or will I still have ClockworkMod? I'm hoping for stock recovery, so if this process won't do it, do you know how?
Thanks again for the help!
Go ahead and fast boot reboot. This will give you everything stock like new in box software
Thanks so much! Phone's back up and running and I've updated back to where I was before I started all this.
Now... my curiosity is back. Am I safe to try AAHK again now that I'm back to stock? I feel like I'm playing with fire!
Yes you can run the kit. It gave issues last because of the unlocking and cwm flashing. But now that you are bone stock its good to go. With a correct setup you should be rooted in 5min

Nice! I'll give it a whirl in a little bit.
Out of curiosity, what's the point of the HTCDev bootloader unlock process if it leaves you in S-ON and you can't flash roms? Or am I mistaken and just messed up?

I didn't read the whole thread but the htc dev method uses a different flashing procedure than s-off - requires more steps. You probably messed up somewhere. However, if you can get s-off that is what we recommend.
Sent from a dream.
hello everyone,
i've looked over similar threads, but i got lost in all the comments and download links.
so here's the story :
few days ago phone decides to shut down on its own (no tampering on my side at all)
i take the battery out,put it back in,stuck in bootloop, try it again and phone boots up normally.
next day it happens again, this time my method doesn't help bring me back to the OS and just keeps me in the white screen htc logo boot.
so i boot into Hboot, try to reset factory settings,it just goes back to the boot logo loop.
same issue with trying to boot into recovery.

i tried flashing different pd89img versions, with or without clockwork but none of them worked.
the most advanced staged i got to was a certain pd89img being verified by my device and after it was done reflashing the different components.
it kept going to a bootloop.
also,my usb debugging is off.
any help would be greatly appriciated.
Hey
First off, you're gonna wanna remove the IMEI from the info, that's personal info you don't want to give away, just a heads up.
Second, what ROM/Kernel you running buddy?,
I believe you're gonna have to flash a custom recovery from fastboot, but I may be wrong..
If you need some extra help urgently, feel free to post in the Ace Think Tank (in my signature) to get some info, resident expert Glevitan should be able to help you out

i managed to use htc's hboot update via fastboot+usb
then i flashed an updated rom using their RUU.
managed to use the htcdev unlock method.
flashed CWM,restarted phone but alas it is still stuck in a bootloop and wont boot into neither recovery or factory reset.
any suggestions?

First thing you might want to try is to use this command
fastboot erase cache. If the phone then hangs we need to try the next method by rebooting to fastboot USB.
Run the RUU and look into %temp% for a rom.zip and place that file in the root of c:
Put your phone into Fastboot USB then type the following
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip c:\rom.zip
Let that finish and redo fastboot flash zip c:\zip then issue fast reboot.
If that boots then your ok but if the phone freezes upon doing any fastboot command other then fastboot getvar all the chances are you have a fried EMMC chip which will required replacement and a Jtag session.
Hi !
I have a problem with my HTC DHD device. I unlocked it and rooted it a long time ago, using goldcard, installed Rom Manager, flashed the recovery, install CM...and all of a sudden, my phone shutted down, and couldn't stop rebooting, got the green HTC logo, and he reboot.
I had this problem a few month ago, i tried several things, that put my phone back in S-ON.
I actually got this :

I can't access to recovery, and i can't boot on anything else than the HBOOT or FASTBOOT mode.
I tried to unlock from htc dev, but it says that i need to upgrade my HBOOT before using htcdev tool.
As i was back in S-ON mode, i tried severals RUU Roms.
As the getvar all says i'm actually running 2.50.405.2, so i tried to install a clean RUU using
RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed
( Got a french HTC DESIRE HD )
I'd like to flash a new recovery to make everything ok again. But i'm stuck, there is no ruu working, and i can't unlock bootloader, nor reinstall a recovery
everytime i try to flash something into any directory, i got this signature failed error.
Code:

I tried different RUU versions, all above the actual one or at least the same version.
The thing is that i can't actually put it back on its original configuration. CID is normal though, i can't find the original recovery, i'd like to flash it, i think it's the only thing that remains modified on the phone.
I had the exact same problem as you have when i bought the phone. AAHK was working back then and even with aahk the phone could not be fixed and the with the help of the devs on irc chat i managed to fix it
They told me that my phone was previously rooted and s-off but a strange RUU was flashed so they told me to flash cwm through fasboot and flash a custom rom.
Wich i did and it worked.
P.S. you might wanna try another sd card, this one might be fried ( faulty mem blocks)

Thanks for your answer, your previous problem exactly matches with mine. I'll try what you've said, the thing is that i'm actually not rooted, and S-ON, i can't use htcdev/unlockbootloader, because de version of my bootloader is too old ( i haven't used the phone for a while ) -
In fact :
- To solve my problem, like u said i have to flash CWM and a custom rom
- To flash a recovery, i need to unlock bootloader
- To unlock bootloader, i need to upgrade my bootloader
- To flash a ruu and upgrade my bootloader i need to have an original recovery
- Got a recovery problem i need another one, so let's flash CWM ( repeat everything )

1) conect phone to pc, run instalation ruu
2) during instalation process find in win/temp folder file named rom.zip
3) copy this file into folder with adb and fastboot files
4) cancel instalation
5) in phone run bootloader than fastboot
6) run command prompt in folder with adb, fastboot and rom files, than type "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
7) wait a few minute until phone goes in ruu install mode
8) than from command prompt type "fastboot flash zip room.zip", if you get error repeat once again without exiting ruu install mode (some times is needed to do it twice)
9) when install finish type "fastboot reboot" and now phone should be repaired
You can do factory reset before and after.
Hello! To start off, I apologize for starting a new thread, however, I'm pretty overwhelmed with all of the information that I have found here.
My issue is this: I have an HTC Desire HD from Telus that stopped booting up. It started out freezing a lot, forcing battery pulls, until it didn't want to boot up at all. In my quest to find a solution, I've tried a factory reset in both the main hboot screen, as well as the one in the recovery section of hboot, and have had no success. I've tried a couple different RUU, and again, no success.
While I have a reasonable tech background, my android knowledge has always been poor, despite my best efforts. What it seems like to me, is that the software is corrupted (I apologize if corrupted is an inaccurate term for my issue), as well as the recovery...kind of like if I'm trying to do an erase and install on my laptop, but my recovery partition is toast.
From what little I have learned, I need to flash a ROM onto the phone, and in order to do that, I believe I need to do an s-off thing as well.
As you can tell, I have an extremely basic understanding of these concepts. I'm unsure of what utility to use for the steps, as IIRC certain utilities work for specific hardware and software. I did have a bunch of tabs open that I would have posted links for here, just so you guys know what I've read, however my girlfriend closed them while I was at work yesterday!
What I would like to do, is get a "clean install" of android back onto my phone. What I am looking for, is a version of android that is not the telus stock, but a better version that will run much more smoothly, and give me more options. This is something that I've been trying to learn how to do for quite some time anyway. From what I've read, android revolution seems like a good option, however, if there is one that is better suited, I'm open to suggestions.
If someone can walk me through getting my phone back up and running, I'd be super appreciative! If I try to turn on the device, it displays HTC, and that's it. I should still, hopefully, be able to get into hboot.
Again, I apologize if this post is in the wrong place, and for making the post in the first place. I just wasn't sure if similar issues and solutions that I read about in other threads would apply to my situation.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I installed the adt sdk package thing, not sure what to do with it
In sdk in platform-tools folder you can find adb and fastboot.
Put it in some folder that you can reach easily (like: d:\adb)
Turn off your HTC Sync even in tray.
With your phone go in hboot and in fastboot.
With your PC open cmd
In cmd go to your folder with adb and fastboot and type fastboot getvar all
With command getvar all in fastboot you will get more information about your phone

My issue is this: I have an HTC Desire HD from Telus that stopped booting up. It started out freezing a lot, forcing battery pulls, until it didn't want to boot up at all.

How can he use "advanced ace hack kit" if he can't boot in android?
And about custom rom, we can discuss about that for a mounth. With custom rom you get something but in the other hand u loose something. It's not for everyone.
Maybe is the best that he first try with WWE 2.3.5 stock or WWE 2.3.5 stock rooted rom
Then if he decides he can try some custom rom

Ok, You're right.
Hi guys, I'm stuck in a bootloop with Android Revolution HD Rom installed, I took the risk and flashed it now I'm in a bootloop.
I'm pretty sure I just need a firmware update...
Can someone tell me what to do please!!!
Care to walk me through what you've done step by step?

Hi, yep. I've unlocked the bootloader installed twrp and rooted.....but all the twrps I've tried won't allow me to stick in a usb with a rom on....
So I stuck Android revolution HD on internal storage and flashed it from there except I'm now stuck in the bootloop.
I can adb/fastboot but I can't adb sideload as the pc says no devices attached when I boot into recovery when plugged into pc....
It's was on Orange UK but they are no longer so I wanted to wipe....
It would be OK if I could s-off and superCID but I can't so I'm stuck!!!

Just to confirm some details.
Is this the rom you flashed?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
And this file is the one you flashed?
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24415232478675057
The recoveries used for this device is divided into new and old layout.
Android Revolution HD uses the old layout.
To be sure you use the old layout just keep using an old version of.
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/endeavoru/
So you would use twrp twrp-2.6.3.0-endeavoru.img.
All the other links starts with 3.0 and that is the new layout.
If you have all this in order.
And you remembered to wipe everything before flashing this rom?
If so then your problem would be solved by easily flashing the boot.img in fastboot which is the kernel.
We cannot touch the kernel from the recovery because there is no official way to s-off the one x.
So when you flash a rom you are only half way there with this particular device because you need to boot to hboot and go into fastboot mode.
On a computer open the rom archive Android_Revolution_HD-One_X_33.1.zip and extract boot.img.
Open a cmd in the same folder ( hold shift and right click and select Open command window here)
In the cmd type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without the quotes.
If you do not have adb/fastboot installed get it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
It will install all tools you need and even the driver but you will need to manually select this driver if your computer does not see your one x.
But we'll take it from there when and if that happens.
