[Q] HTC One X not connecting to my Laptop Hotspot - HTC One X

Hello everyone,
I have a broadband wired connection at home on my laptop (Lenovo GT570) and i tried to use the ad hoc wireless connection to make it a wireless router. But where my nokia N97 device searched and connected to my laptop hotspot, my HTC one x could not search not connect to my laptop.
I used every kind of security key like WPA WEP etc....
Even my phone doesnt connect to some smaller android versions like gingerbread, when tried to connect to their wifi hotspot.
I know that Android would not connect to Joiku Hotspot in my Nokia N97 due to android security issues.
Please Help to find a way to connect to my laptop wifi hotspot as well as to the older android versions.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Please help Re: tethering and LAN connection

Hello everyone! First time poster here.
I've been looking for solutions all over and i can't seem to find one...
Internet at home is down and I'm tethering on my phone (tilt2 energy rom w/ att). Tethering works fine but i have to disconnect from the LAN to make it work.
Tethering internet creates another connection independent from the LAN.
I am using windows 7 and i'm wondering if there's any way i can tether internet on my phone and be connected to the LAN at home?

[Q] Sharing internet via HTC Desire?

Hello!
I have installed RCMix HD rom, with new Sense, and i have option for Internet Pass-Through. I am wondering, if it is possible, to use on phone internet connection from PC via Internet Pass-Through, and in settings turn on Portable WiFi Hotspot, that will let me to connect to internet on another laptop? I tried this, but i doesn't have internet on laptop...
And, is this possible anyway?
The way the internet sharing works with the Desire is that it acts like a modem which then shares the internet with a PC. You can't do it the other way around, sharing internet from your PC to your phone, just phone to PC.
You can use your computers internet via internet pass through, I know because I've tried it, but you can't use the computer internet for hotspot, I tried that too
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
@damo : bro can u tell me how u did it???m using windows 7 but cant seem to get it work on the phone....everything is getting connected but no show on the phone....
is there any particular setting u need to do???
as a thought - what about if you made an adhoc connection from laptop and shared internet with that connection...?
just a thought- completely untested..
just remember when I had a machine set up with a crossover and shared wifi from laptop to PC and wondered if you could do something similar with an adhoc wifi connection...
You can't share the internet connection used from a pass through connection. The reason is that it uses the same framework for both pass through connections and Portable Hotspot. Would be cool if it could be done, but with Windows XP and above you setup an AdHoc Wifi connection which will allow you to connect one device and share and internet connection.

Having the S3 Connect to my Laptop's Wifi

Hey I want to create an adhoc connection to allow my S3 to use wifi connection from my laptop?
I tried creating one but the S3 wouldn't find it on WPA and no security.
This is because my S3 has very slow speed and low connection to my routher which is two floors below me. My laptop and iPad and stuff can connect fine but not the S3. I tried the *#0011# trick but to no avail. If I try a factory reset how do I backup everything?
But how can I have my S3 connect to my Laptop for Internet, is this possible?
yea the s3 cannot see the ad hoc network its not in our wifi profile.
Last time i checked, i don't recall typical WiFi chips being able to function as a WiFi access point... could be wrong, though.
There are some apps that claim to enable ad-hoc networks on certain phones. Not sure if they are compatible with our phones our not.
If you're using windows 7, you can try connectify. It'll create a real wifi ap instead of just ad-hoc, also simultaneously allowing the computer to connect to your router's wifi.
Use Connectify
yo can use connectify and make your wirless adapter to an access point then this application could share your internet connection via this virtual access point

[Q] Wifi Tethering Multiple Devices - Limited Connectivty

Does anyone else have problems with wifi tethering? It seems to happen for me with any rom, currently though using JellySlim_FullPower [HSD Project 4].
My problem is I start the wifi tethering from my Xperia S, then on my Windows 7 PC I can connect no problem at all and usually it works fine - The problem then is if I try and connect to the same hotspot with another device at the same (Xperia T / Nexus 7 2013). Within minutes of more than one device been connected to my Xperia S wifi hotspot all the connections drop, then on Windows 7 I get the Limited Connectivity and yellow exclamation mark.
To keep it simple, wifi tethering seems to work when only one device is connected to the hotspot, but it seems having multiple devices connected causes the connection to lose internet.
Has anyone else experienced this, have a solution maybe? I am wondering if there is a setting to allow x amount of connections at once or something
Thanks.

The only thing I can do is connect phone to PC and use USB tethering for internet on PC, then to share with another device also use hotspot.
Again though, any more devices using the same hotspot drops all the connections. I cannot find a resolution.

Have you tryed with kitkat how tethering works?
Two months later and so many many wasted hours, looks like solution found! Luckyly by my self
Go to your pc wlan device properties and change from internet protocol verion propeties ip to automatic.
I hope this helps help someone else.
Strangely two other phone tethers ok even ip wasn´t automatic. Not sure when that setting was change. Or was it.

Android tethering problems

Has anyone sucesfully managed to tether their 4G gemini to a laptop, to share mobile data?
I've tried WiFi hotspot and USB tethering and I'm having no luck. The laptop gets an IP and gateway address from the Gemini but still can't connect to the internet.
I have no problems when I tether using a different phone.
If someone with a 4G gemini and a laptop could give it a go and let me know if it works for them, it would be really helpful.
Thanks!
Tom
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tethering works fine for me.
Maybe tethering is blocked by your carrier.
FIle transfers do not work either

QUOTE]
When connecting USB to usbC , the Win laptop claims connection exists, but permission to connect is missing. Hence it would seem that Gemini or Android is incapable of registering a physical connection (even if it reports slow charging" when at an USB2 port as opposed to USB3.)

I would really prefer a cabled connection to hack exposed and battery-eating wireless methods, so any advice is welcome. I tried to hook up and mount the Gemini so as to use the versatile file handler MC on it at my lange stationary Linux machine, but it seemed to be "invisible". (My Gemini is the pure android latest available version, not rooted.)
