I've tried a few cm11 variants now and they all have the same issues with memory internal and external both.
It's really odd how it's acting, but for me it's adjusting stuff
1: removing, adding folders/files I have to re-scan the storage be it internal or external to even get things to notice....that or a reboot.
2: Moving files from micro sd to internal and/or back result in stalling out or not moving when it says it does move it, again re-scan seems to help at times when it says it moved it, but with the stalls it just hangs forever and never does anything so I have to exit out and start again.
I've had this with multiple Cm11 revisions, so I am leaning to KK being the culprit.
I keep looking around and can't really find MUCH at all on this sd card issues on the net, but I have seen a few.
I have three 32GB class 10, a 16gb class 4, a 8gb class 6 and class 4.......every card has the exact same issue. So it's not releated to class or size.
I will however add CM1 does NOT like 32gb cards (tested this on all three 32gb cards I have) and this is freshly formatted via the phone ofr the pc....also tested with backup files on it, When I boot up it has a loop that keeps saying "sdcard removed unexpectedly......remounting sdcard" and it will loop like that indefinitely until I go into storage settings. I don't have to touch any settings jsut enter it and it stops. After I exit out, it's fine until I access the sdcard again and it acts all wonky again. It doesn't always loop, sometimes it just doesn't see the changes made and a re-scan or reboot fixes it, but a lot of times it will then loop into the same "sdcard removed unexpectidly......remounting sdcard" loop, until I again enter the storage settings, and then stops again.
So I'm open for suggestions, because while it's not happening all the time, it is happening enough that it's getting annoying now, especially when I try and make folders or rename folder/files, or move stuff around.
I'd really love to use cm11, but this is kinda becoming a real pain.
Issue fixed, it was the file browsers.....found a good one that works now.

This is my first post, and I'm usually pretty careful about following instructions. I'm currently running Skyraider's 3.0 RC2, but to my dismay, I am finding that my phone still refuses to recognize my SD Card. Under settings it says it is unavailable, and when connected to PC, it gives an option to mount to disk but doesn't mount upon selecting this.
My phone is rooted with S-Off and 2.15 radio...Did a full wipe of everything before I flashed 3.0 RC2. Shows that my kernel is now King #2, but I have had this issue with many other roms and kernel combinations. I have been unsuccessful in finding a solution when searching the forums, and the only way to regain functionality is to restore a previous backup without any roms installed.
Any help is much appreciate. Thanks!!!
P.S. I've also tried mounting the card in clockworkmod's advanced recovery settings, but this does not change a thing. Internal storage is also currently unavailable. Mount through usb in recovery does work, but this doesn't help when I cannot access my sd card after boot.
I had a similar issue a couple days ago after upgrading from stock 2.1 to SkyRaider 2.5.2.
When I'd go to set my ringtones, the option for the SD card wasn't there. As if it wasn't reading it was in the phone at all. I opened up Astro file manager to see if it could read it and it in fact did. I could see that all the ringtones were still on the card right where they should be and they would play from Astro when I clicked on them. But, the option to actually set them still wasn't there.
I'm not exactly sure what 'fixed' it, but I went in to set my notification tone and suddenly the option to select from the SD card was there. Then, I could then access the card to set ringers as well. I'm sorry I don't have anything more specific. The card just seemed to suddenly decide to let the OS know it was there. I also rebooted the phone a couple times as well as removing the card while the phone was in use and reinserting it. Not sure if any of that helped the situation or not.
I had asked about this in two separate threads and not one person responded, so I'm guessing the issue is rare.
If you don't get anywhere with it, maybe try a different SD card just to see if it shows up.
Good luck.
I've had the same issue but was able to resolve it. Mount the sd card from a laptop or PC. If you can read the card copy the contents onto the PC (I placed mine in a separate folder). Then go into tools and do an error checking. After replacing the SD card back in the phone see if everything is ok. this fixed my SD card. However, I've had the SD card lose its primary disk notation so I had to reformat and then transfer the previous save files on the SD card from my backup an that solved my other issue. Also, some times the SD card speed can cause this issue and it is perfered that you a class 4 or better. I hope this helps.
Well, I took your advice and pulled the sd card only to mount it separately and scan it for errors. None were found. I've also reformatted and restored all the files that were on it. Phone still does not recognize card or internal storage. My phone did, however, recognize another card I had on hand and I believe it may be a compatibility issue between my 8 Gb A-Data brand Micro SD card and 2.2 roms. FYI...It's a class 6, and the one I tried that was recognized was a 6gb sandisk (class 4). I'll look into getting a 16 or 32 gig sandisk in the near future and keep you posted. Thank you guys for your insight.
always 'safely remove hardware' (stop the device, etc.) from your windows machine before unplugging your incredible
if you don't, you end up not being able to see the SD card until you restart your phone
Just reformatted my SD card, checked for errors after unmounting etc... and now it seems to work ok, although one of the music players I normally use doesn't seem to recognise it!!
hey guys, sorry to be trouble but frankly im just fed up, tried and searched everywhere, i have dhd with ARHD latest installed just the basic new rom by mike, lately ive been experiencing my phone rebooting everytime the apps load from the sd card, it just continuously reboots, i take sd card out and its all fine, tried many other cards and have the same issue, so somewhere someone said its because theres alot of apps on the sd card and the firmware or htc cant handle it so it shuts the phone down by doing a reboot, i currently have 123 apps on my sd card in the android secure folder with a total size of 1.41gb...i have about 60 apps on the desire hd internal storage, i have a 32 gb card, plenty of space in the card itself, heres the wierd bit, i delete a few apps from the android secure folder and the phone starts loading the apps perfectly and doesnt go into a reboot, however the problem comes back if i download new apps, please has anyone got an idea whats going on, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt, then also it would randomly start saying sd ard unexpectedly removed, although thats only happened once so to be dafe i just took that card out and replaced it since i had another 32 gb lying about, i guess the real problem is the reboot....
ohh to make it more frustrating, i reflashed, clear memory, cache and everything before reflashing ARHD again...started with a few apps, lasted about 4 days then downloaded a little more and then woke up one day a week later, tried restarting my phone and there it goes again, constant reboots with sd card, the apps load, screen freezes and waaala reboot...
im desperate...had this phone over a year and now its just acting up when lots of apps are on there...
any help would be appreciated...
So no ideas then anyone lol...
It's a notorious issue with the dhd on gingerbread (revolution). I encountered it recently when sense kept restarting on my phone every five minutes after I moved too many apps to my sd card (even though most were frozen and the sd is class 10). After I made sure I had backups, I uninstalled a lot of apps from the sd card and everything is fine. Either try and uninstall some apps you aren't using or upgrade to icecoldsandwich.
Or the other option is to make a second partition on your sd card (backup first) using ext4 (use minitools), then use the app link2sd.
Link2sd app worked GREAT for me!
I can confirm this. If you put too many apps on SD card, it just reboots. Drove me crazy while I used stock ROM.
Here's some super duper tricks guys....Enjoy!!!

Hey,there's a cool way to get it going even if there are ton's of apps in SDcard.try this simple trick(Works for me with 735 apps on a 32GBcard) :
1.Power off the phone by holding the power button for some time if the phone keep rebooting without any stop.
2.Keep it cool for 3-4 mins.
3.Power it on again.
4.Then when the launcher starts, goto 'settings' fast.
5.Then quickly goto the storage>Unmount SD card.
6.Then after the USB storage scanning is finished and all apps in phone memory are granted their requested permissions(just for rooted device),mount the SD card...
7.This time the reboot won't occur until you power it off and power it on again...
HAPPY TWEAKING!!!
Here's another trick too... :
1.Power off the phone by holding the power button for some time if the phone keep rebooting without any stop.
2.Keep it cool for 3-4 mins.
3.Power it on again.
4.This time, just after the launcher start, plug in the USB cable and connect it to the computer in MTP mode.
5.When the SD card scanning just stops, plug the usb cable out(this'll give you a max of 1min to do it).
6.A second wave of Media Scanning occurs.
7.but this time,it won't even dare to touch your phone...
"Nothing is Impossible" :victory:
The final trick(Trick 3):
1..Power off the phone by holding the power button for some time if the phone keep rebooting without any stop.
2.Take the SD card out.
3.Power it on again.
4.After booting and media scanning finished, put the SD card back in.
5.mount it in settings>storage>mount SD card.
6.Wait till the media scanning ends.
7.Now you're ready to go....
"Never Give UP on Anything" :highfive:
hey guys, just don't let the tech rule you.Rule the tech.these are just basics...Anyone who got to play with a smartphone for a long time can figure it out....Just tweak your brain!!!! Anyway Cheers bye now.... Hit thanks if I helped you.... :victory:
Hi...
This is my first post here.
I have a problem with my SD Card.
My SDCard: 32GB microSDHC, some application like music player and gallery sometimes can't read file on my ext sd card (but my file manager can do it flawlessly)
Furthermore, sometimes it shows PREPARING SD CARD on top of the screen, although I don't even do anything. I tried to re-mount it again. But the problem still sometime occurs.
This problem started happening when I changed my stock rom to Ressurection Remix, I thought this problem occurred because of the ROM. so I change it to AOSP. But still... the problem still existed. So then, I changed it back to my stock ROM (with restore option in CWM)
But yeah... Nothing happen.
Any idea?
P.S.: Sorry for my bad english.
extSdCard/sdcard 1 issues
I have a Note II N1907 (ATT) running Liquid Smooth with a SanDisk microSD ultra 32gb. I have been trying to figure this issue out since I bought this phone 2 months ago. I screwed up the original card that I transferred from my old phone some how by trying different things to make the phone recognize it. It worked fine in my HTC Vivid. I have root and am able to use root options to try to access this card of installation, but the best I have been able to do is use it for storage. And I have to manually move things to the card, because most apps do not acknowledge that it is there (can't see it). TWRP recovery can see it after I did my first ROM Flash, but I have to use internal memory for my first ROM Flash, because recovery mode was unable to mount extSdCard.
Is there a kernel I can flash to remedy this. I am no developer, but I think the problem is that the internal memory is also SD in type. I have noticed that internal memory shows up as SDcard0 (zero) and the after market sd card is sdcard1. Maybe the phone automatically defaults to the first sdcard and ignores the other (because it is only designed to have one sd card).
I am sure others have hard this problem with this phone. Thank you for any help you can offer..

As soon as I saw your reply I scanned for the words "Sandisk Ultra" and then I knew this was your issue.
I had a lot of SD card corruption with this brand and searching a lot on the web I found many stories of people having the same issues as I did.
My 32Gb Sandisk Ultra was the cause of many of my problems. 2 months on with a Lexar 32Gb, no problems (touch wood)
Hello everyone,
I am experiencing an odd issue with my G PAD 8.3. It seems to randomly "appear" that the microSD is unmounted (when i check my filemanager, i am unable to enter /storage/external_SD... However, when I go to settings -> storage, the SD card is not exactly unmounted as I still have the Unmount SD card option still available. When I check the usage though its showing as 0GB. So what I do is, I unmount the SD from the settings menu, then remount it from the same menu thereafter. It will fix the issue, but after some time, it will again show as mounted but 0GB used.
My current setup is:
ROM: Slimkat 4.4.4 latest weekly build
Sdcard: 32 GB Sandisk
What I suspect is either of the following:
1. A bug with the ROM (since there isnt a stable release of Slimkat on the g pad)
2. An issue with the microSD. It might fail soon
3. An issue with one of the apps. Might be worth noting that I have foldermount installed on my tablet. since it is an application that mounts and unmounts directories from the microSD, perhaps this may cause the problem, though i havent seen anyone who have experienced a similar issue.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Lookup sandisk sdcard problems on google.
Sandisk was having issues with some of their cards. Pop in a different one to make sure its not the tablet.

Thanks mate, ill pop one right in when I find one lying around. I might also try to slow format to FAT32 and then format the card using the tablet and see if it helps.... Just wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue. Been googling around, and the closest things I can see are people that are having issues when their microSD randomly gets unmounted... in my case its not really unmounted, just showing capacity is 0 and after a umount/remount cycle, it works again then shows 0gb again after some time...
Thanks for your response.

Same issue here.
Slimkat v4.4.4 latest weekly build
SanDisk 32GB ultra class10
Not using that folder app and SD worked normally before slimkat so I assume it's rom bug, and it's sad and I'm thinking about going back to stock. And one more thing - installed SD monitor and SD unmounts on screen off and then remounts when you turn screen back on. As no problems were detected on stock kitkat I think it's another bug of slimkat. Where can I report it?
I do not trust SanDisk anymore. Most of my earlier trouble was caused by a bad card that failed way to early from them.
I trust sandisk more than anything, but this case was just coincidence. My problem was resolved, when I downgraded back to 4.2.2 stock and then I could do what I wanted, currently I have slimkat again and almost 24hours no unmounts
I didn't see this particular fix anywhere else, but it seems to be happening with larger SD cards for many phones, so...
Running: L900 CM11 4.4.4 mid-august nightly w/ stock kernel.
Problem: My SanDisk 64GB SDXC SD card was mounting but showing no data and no absolute file size, with only the option available in tools being the delete all data function (I never tried using it though.)
Kitchen Sink: Tried rebooting, wiping both caches and flashing an older nightly. While a fresh card format seems like the obvious fix, transferring and formatting takes time on such a big card and requires a PC nearby.
The Fix: I booted the phone with the back cover off, and without the SD card inserted. After a full boot to my home screen, I then inserted the offending card and received a notice that it was loading. Saved data was now available with all functionality. After a reboot and battery pull, the card hasn't failed to load since.
I'd be interested in any insight to why this might have worked, it feels like a janky fix at best. A quick search tells you that big SD cards and CM/Android don't always play well.
