When connecting the device via USB cable, don't expect the transfer speeds to be that great. MTP is the default transfer protocol if you didn't change it. If you need to move files off of your MicroSD card quickly, its best to remove the media card from the Note 2 and put it into a card reader. As for the gallery app on the device, from what I have experienced is if you are using the card for the first few times it may take some time for the picture thumb nails to enumerate completely, especially when you have a lot of photos/videos.
This is purely from experience. I hope this helps a bit.

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of upgrading my 512mb SD card to 2gb, but I'm not certain that the phone (Qtek 9090) will be able to work with such a large card.
Does anyone here have a 2gb card working? Any brands/models that are known to work or fail?
Thanks in advance for your help.
2gb SDCard...
Hi!
I'm currently using a 2gb SanDisk SD Card, everything works great. Oddly enough, I cannot find a card reader to connect to my PC that can read them!?!? I'm still using 2003SE and transfer movies and MP3's to the phone by using the painful multi-hour process of Exploring via ActiveSync. Uggh! This is fixed in ActiveSync 4.1 but ONLY if you are running WM5... Just having 2003SE and 4.1 will still be totally laggy for file copy.
Enjoy!
2gb SDCard...
Hi there, I also have a 2Gb Sandisk card in my XDAIIs, I also have a card reader which I purchased from PC World for £10.
Works a treat!!

Hi! Do you have a brand name or model number of the card reader you mentioned so I can search for it on the Internet? So far I've purchased 2 different readers and neither can speak "2gb" The one I can use for 1gb cards but not 2gb cards is Belkin F5U248 rev.2, so I know that one wont work!
Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know what speed the BA supports for its SD cards?
The transfer speed is limited by the SD card type
The transfer speed should be contained within the card specification sheet
As I understand it, the maximum transfer speed is 22.5MB per second
This is for a 133X SD card, so compare accordingly
thanks for the reply. I just wanted to make sure that there wasnt a limit on the SDIO bus on the BA.
I'm planning to buy a 2gb Sandisk, but i'm not too sure whether the ultra version will work, as the compatibility list on their website only shows the standard. So i might just get the standard one to be on the safe side.
I currently use 4Gb SD card! I had only hard time finding flash card reader for my PC, which can read such a big card
I believe PPC devices has no problem with big SD cards. At least my Mio 168 PPC with GPS (PPC 2003) understand 4G card too.
But I do not believe flash manufacturers X rating. I NEVER seen real speed more than 3 Mb/s on any type of device. My card have rating x133 (22.5Mb/s). And I have no idea on what device and how did they measure that speed?
From the 2g->4gb reports it sounds like sd card size is not so much an issue for the BA, more for the SD->USB adaptor.
I have the same awful USB activesync file transfer rates reported on this thread, despite running WM5, so it sounds like my current adaptor might need upgrading.
Anyway, thanks for helping out, and I now have a 2gb 133x SD on order for next week ;-)
The typical transfer rate is 2MBps
Quotes like 133X and 150X are NOT a multiple of this but the coefficient comparison between the read and write speed
As an example for a 2MB SD card
Uploading 2MB data takes 1 second
Reading data, for that same setup, takes 1 second
For the 133X the write speed is the same, but the read time is 0.4 seconds and for the 150X card it is 0.33 seconds
This also assumes the SD interface meets SDIO v1.01
If not then the 133X and 150X cards take the same time to read as the standard card
2gb Card Reader
Hi there ottGalaen,
My card reader is made by PC Line, I think it's PC World's own brand, the Model number on the back is PCL-CR400.
Here's a link to it...
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=818835&category_oid=
If that doesn't work just go to www.pcworld.co.uk and search for PCL-CR400
I hope this helps
Kind regards
Terry

Yo, what type of SD card that you using now (Sandisk Ultra II) ?
Just so you guys know my 4GB SD card is a Transcend 150x.
Well, I just bought an 8 Gig Class 6 Ridata Lightning microsdhc card...that got pretty good reviews, actually... and which also tests out to be a Class 6 card on SD Card Speed Test. The huge problem, for me, is that when I plug the card into my card reader on my pc, which is rather new..., I get TERRIBLE transfer speeds...even slower than any Class 2 that I've used. Any ideas? Should I request a replacement even though it's testing out as a Class 6? Is it my card reader? Is there any requirement for an internal card reader to read sdhc cards? Anyone with any insight would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

It might be your card reader/computer. On my Class 4 I get speeds that surpass the transfer regular speed. If you have a sd card reader in your laptop/desktop try updating the drivers. If the reader goes into the usb slot, then get a new reader, or try out a different computer...This will help isolate the problem and your headaches.
Thanks, bro...

Yeah, thanks, I'll try finding drivers for it, there's an ! in device manager under USB...so I'll try to get it to recognize the hub drivers.

I had this issue too, it was because my card reader didn't support SDXC specifications. I had to use the built in reader in my fairly new laptop to format.

I have the 64GB class 10 from BB when they ran the 49.99 promotion a couple of weeks ago. I used the Easeus to format the card as FAT32 in one minute. And it had 59.48GB , which is what it's supposed to be. Idk if it's the same for the ultra . Just FYI

So I have this SanDisk Ultra 16GB Class 10 microSDHC Card from Best Buy, which was on sale for $20 when I bought it two months ago. Formatted the card as soon as I put it inside the phone. I started to transfer some music albums from my PC and the write speeds are very slow, averaging only 1.8 MB/s. I'm not getting anywhere near Class 10 write speeds. Don't have a USB SD card reader that supports SDHC, so I don't have the option to take it out and use the SD adapter. I tried using an SD speed increase app and changed the cache to 2048 KB, but same result. Didn't want to bring up this issue until now.
Anyone have any solutions to this? If it helps, I'm running CM 10.1 (Android 4.2.1), Nitest 12-31 kernel for CM 10.1 Preview Build.
Makes a huge difference because you will need a usb 3.0 port on your computer for that to work

My Take...
1.Transferring multiple small files will always be slower in transferring speed than a single big file.
2. Using your phone as an alternative to sd card reader will be a lot slower at transferring files to your PC. I always prefer to take out the memory card out of my phone and connect it with an sd card reader instead of attaching a direct usb cable to my phone.
3. install "SD Card Tester" from the play store, try to close all the other open apps and test your memory card with it within your phone. My results with my Micro Center branded class 10 card were ~6MB for Writing and ~7MB for reading of 348MB test file... I'm sure though if I test it again with my PC it would meet the advertised 10MB writing speed.
First, sorry for my bad english. i hope you will understand my problem.
I am using a genunie sandisk 32gb micro sdhc card. used it with my old xperia t too...
Started using it with my Note 2 since 2 months. But i got an error yesterday, that my card is removed because format is not ok. i did nothing with the card or not removed from my phone. My phone was also turned on since 4 days. And today asked me for formatting micro sd card. i had no time to check it on my computer so i choosed format it. Note 2 has formatted it. After that it didnt see my card.
In the storage menu it shows no ext.card. i tried to format my micro sd card on windows and on macbook but they dont see my card.
I lost my photos and some files... i dont care about them now, i just want to format my card but i think its dead now...
Anyone has experience? What shall i do now?
Now i see this again, choosing format but nothing happens...

Do you see it listed in Disk Management in Windows? It could be that it is not being mounted as a drive, but seen as a RAW partition by the system, in which case you can format it from Disk Management and start using it again. Don't look for the card under Volumes, but where disks are listed, in which section you'll see Disk 0, Disk 1 and so on. Good luck
Try to format your card using SD Formatter https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
Thanks for your replies. I will try it when i arrive to home from my work.

I had a 64GB SanDisk card. I bought it in December. Last week, somehow, it became write protected! I could not format it, either in the phone or Windows and could not write any data to it.
I phoned SanDisk and they said they would replace it. I managed to copy the data off it. I told them I couldn't send the card back to them, as I couldn't delete the data. They just asked me to photograph the card before and after I cut it in half. Now they are sending me a new card.
However, as there seem to be many problems with SanDisk cards, I will never use one again. I bought a Samsung 64GB instead.
sent from somewhere
Don't think its the phone, rather the SD card itself.
after getting a Samsung MicroSD card, there are no further problems.
the Sandisk card even has problem being detected by a windows 7 machine
Sandisk and Lexar are both garbage! They have the worst quality control ever. I don't even understand how they are so popular.
I have mailed to Sandisk support, they wanted photos of card with serial number and where i bought it.
than they want me to break my card and send again photos of broken card. Now, they will send me new card...
Had the problem myself with a 32 gb sandisk class 10. The phone said the card was damaged. I used the card adapter that came with the card and when inserted in my pc card reader, surprise: it worked like nothing happened! Saved data, format it with sdformater and i use it now.
I mention a kingston card adapter didn't do the job. It kept saying the card was not formatted.

Yes SD Formatter is kind a low level formatter. If flash storage is not physically damaged, SD Formatter solves most of the problems
defo not the phone but the card itself. Has happened to me more then once. Some card's are just ****
well from personal experience. I have to say first hand, i honestly think its the phone. the same thing happened to me. i have the att note 2 and a centon 32gb class4 card and out of nowhere, i get a message that my card was removed unexpectedly and now my card doesn't work on ANY DEVICE. I've tried multiple card readers, different software, different computers, even tried a mac, took my memory card to s specialist. NO DEVICE recognizes anything even connected. now i thought, ok maybe a faulty card but my wife with same phone and a sandisk 32gb class 10, SAME THING happened. my friend with a Kingston 32 gb and a sprint note 2, his memory card died as well. THREE different brands, and same type of phone. too much of a coincidence, could be it really cant handle 32gb. now im using i think 8 and its working fine for now.
google this problem and youll see its a bigger problem then you think. BACKUP YOUR DATA, i had to learn hard way. :crying:

Happened the same yesterday. Trascend class 4 32Gb SDHC. Completely dead.
Checked with a macbook, but the card isn't detected anymore.
In my opinion, the NoteII may haves some problem with sd card (maybe the voltage regulators aren't correctly programmed, or something similar).
But frankly, I do not have any proof to support this, just a sensation.
Cheers

I had the same thing happen to me. Put the card on a windows machine, and run
chkdsk /f
this makes the disk readable again. At least, it did for me. One problem was that even though the disk was readable, it seems some
files had errors, so the media scanner ran forever and used up lots of battery when the fixed card was used. I ended up not using that card any
more.
Same problem with me... 32gb microsd hc class 10 sandisk... In sn2 n7100 it says blank card or unsupported filesystem... In windows 7 laptop... It is not detected.... Chkdsk does not work in cmd prompt as the card is not detected... Unable to do anything with the card as it is not detected... Cannot format, cannot see in disk manager. Card is also not read in other phones.
PLEASE help as it had a lot of information and i have NO money to buy a new card.
