I saw your post asking about flashing windows phones to page plus.
im very interested in accomplishing this task my self as to so I may offer my service to others with windows phones.
in all honestly if anyone can do it that would probably be me.

A Qwest/Sprint CDMA Question.

I have been looking for a while but found no difinitive answer for this question which makes me think it would be tough, but here goes. My friend had Qwest cellular service in Minnesota and had an HTC PPC 6800 with them. At the time that he had this, Qwest's service was actually rebundled Sprint, but with a Qwest badged phone. While he and his family's business had an account through them they were forced to go to Verizon for their carrier and in turn he recieved the Verizon version of his phone, the VX6800 I believe. After he had switched providers with Qwest he had his old 6800 still laying around and gave it to me as I had done some work for him and his family's business developing a VPN and remote server management tools and started to develop a Linux PBX for them. My questions are this:
1. Is it possible to use this phone with my Sprint/Nextel service?
2. What are the steps I need to take to make this possible if I can indeed use this.
I understand about flashing ROMS and whatnot, but, do I need to do anything first to the phone to "unlock" it to work with Sprint and then load custom Firmware? Or can I just use something like DCD's Titan Kitchen to make this phone work with it?
My part time job is working at a Radioshack and I talked to my Sprint rep about swapping the ESN on my account from my old Nextel phone I have to this 6800 and she said it should be no problem if the phone could be unlocked. I really hope there is a way I could get this to work as I would hate to see a perfectly good smartphone go to almost total waste since a company decided to change their contract and make all their users switch to a new phone company. I know it could still be used to some things but I could just buy a smaller PDA and carry my phone with as well but that is not what the whole smartphone movement was about now was it? Thank you very much for listening and thank you in advance for any help that you might be able to provide.

New User of the Touch pro II

Hey evryone
After a long search for a new mobile phone, and getting rid of my sony ericson cybershot i have chosen the new HTC touch pro II
The phone just looks amazing and i cant wait to get started with it.
Since im a total nub in the smartphones i have registered myself here in the hope to learn as much as fast as possible.
Since im unfamiliar with the software vocab like rom etc i was wondering if there exist any guide on this site that explains all the technical info.
Furthermore something i forgot to mention while ordering if the phone is sim- lock free, i think i read somewere it standard comes sim free, but maybe some1 can confirm this to me.
thx

hi welcome to the forum mate and don't worry you be fine. check out the tweaks thread by beast for some of the goodies already available for this device. check in HTC Blackstone/Touch HD forum for a comprehensive guide on the whole rom thing! basically the rom is the image file on your phone like a pc running windows 7. in phone case your rom is wm6.1. once hard spl is released there will be various people producing custom roms for your device which is in effect like upgrading from XP to Vista to Windows 7. there will be roms on offer from wm6.1(official) and wm6.5(currently beta) so you can customise your phone. currently we are waiting hardspl which is work in progress. all the tools you will need to flash your phone will also be available soon.
now at simlock issue. most people are reporting that tp2 come sim unlock from vodafone but the isue is that the phone will contain vodafone customisation and their rom. if you buy a debranded phone from an online stockist or from MPD it come unlocked and with generic software. this means that will be compatible with any network and phone will have HTC software on it. this means that you will be able to benefit from upgrades direct from HTC and not wait for the likes of vodafone to possibly release it. you will find that most software upgrades will be made readily available by HTC but the network providers seem to hold us to ransom.
Thanks for the fast reply
As for the branded story, i did order my phone from a provider called KPN, its dutch and it is part of a extension on my mobile phone subcription which was due. Im pretty sure it will come branded, but is there any way to find out if its branded or not by looking at the mobile and its software itself?
As for unbranding it, i already read that, when the hard spl is released, there should be no problem getting rid of the CID. Therefore the branded/ sim part can be taken care off.
the only thing im worried about, since im new to this, is the risk of ruining a prefectly good mobile phone, hehe. Is the risk high? However i have already seen proffesional websites advertising payed sim unlock/ something to do with a EMEI code which will returned with an unlock code upon payment.
Futhermore i was looking for the following answer about data usage. Since i travel allot within the EU my data usage abroad ( within eu) will form a cost on top of my monthly subscription fee. Are there programs that monitor your data usage? I just read that the price for 1 MB from july 1 in holland under KPN will go down from 7,95 to 2,95 <-- this is when you have a internet subcsription ( without 3,95).
I would like to avoid high unexpected phone bills, and i have the feeling that with the touch pro II, i want to go more online haha.
so for example watching a youtube movie or visiting websites (news items)
how much does this normally translate in data usage?
thanks in advance

couldn't say as i got unlimited data plan in uk and when i travel i use one of them cheap sims that give low cost everything. watching a youtube will defo increase data usage thus cost alot. if your phone is branded it will have your service provider marks stamped all ovber phone. if it is not it will be pure HTC. you will know straight away so don't worry. yep IMEI unlocking can be done remotely using data cable and connecting to unlock server or via order form thru site. for the latter you send your phone details including IMEI number which they send to HTC to get generate your unlock code which you receive via email. you will know when you receive phone whats what and then take any steps you need to!

[Q] Internet Sharing on unlocked ATT Lumia 900

It may be too soon to ask but what the heck..
I've bought the ATT Lumia 900 and am waiting for it to arrive. I plan to unlock it to use on Telus Mobility in Toronto, Canada. I currently use the ATT Titan unlocked on Telus and sadly Internet Sharing is locked still ATT. Kinda silly considering I'm not even on ATT.
Wondering if anyone can report if it's unlocked on the ATT Lumia 900 once carrier unlocked..
Internet Sharing
I'm with you pistol44, I need to have internet sharing unlocked! Please, if anyone has any solutions to unlock this, post it here so other developers/people can view it. I might go back to my Samsung Focus if this is not unlocked soon.
We may need to wait for Tango in hopes to debrand it. When you "force" an update to the phone it actually debrands it unlocking this feature. It worked for me on an old T-Mobile HD7.
I really hope that forcing tango will do it! Just got my 900 shipped from US arrived today in UK such a great phone, need tethering unlocked though :/

Nope am using my trusty Lumia 800 still, am waiting for the unlock code, but have been told it could take a while :/
With the tango build for the 710 surfacing, might not have to wait too long before a flash could be attempted on the 900!
I generally use Blackberry and Android phones (work/play) so please excuse my ignorance, but I recently came across a pretty cheap Lumia that doesn't want to cooperate with me at all.
I'm unable to update it without errors, and so I'm wondering what you're all referring to when it comes to flashing WP7. I know how to do all this with Android/BB, but have no clue how to completely nuke this phone and start from scratch.. Is this even possible with it so locked down and if so, does anyone have any advice?

That's a strollen phone from store. That's why it is so cheap.
The only way to override it sto find a factory firmware and flash it yourself. There is NO way you can use normal Zune update to recover from this.

I have a developer unlock (I ponied up the $99 to join the developer program). If I register the 900 as a developer phone, and then change the carrier, is that all that is needed to unlock internet sharing?

No. As I understand it, there is no way around this unless you flash to a non-AT&T firmware to replace the internet sharing software with the generic non-carrier version. Dev unlock only allows you to side load apps. That's about it.

First you will have to find a copy of the firmware from somewhere. Then you need find some Nokia utility to flash it to your phone. Each manufacturer has their own method. Who know if it its easy or difficult. Good luck.

its not that difficult actually. search for a software called Navifirm , it should allow you to download firmware for any Nokia phone and you will find all the firmwares for the lumia 800 by network provider. then you need to search for Nokia Care Suite (the latest version you can find). that will allow you to flash the phone.
both softwares can be found on the web.
good luck.

i have to tried to flash the Rogers firmware on the AT&T Lumia but i get an error that the signature file of the firmware is not valid.
i have been able to flash any firmware on the Lumia 800 but it seems they changed something with the 900.
that's really the only option. but right now only the AT&T and Rogers firmwares are available for download. I suppose as soon as the Lumia gets released to other markets, other firmwares will show up. a european or australian should resolve the problem as they are usually very close to stock.

Does anyone know for sure??? if you can or cannot use the note 8 lte as a phone like the overseas version? So far no joy. Is it hardware or can we load some kind of app to make it work like the note 2?
Someone will probably have to port over the 5120 or 5100 firmware in order to try it since it doesn't' have the phone software installed. Give it some time.

Absolute worst case use Google voice or Vonage with call forwarding from your cell phone number. You can also sideload a mms.apk for texting. For call forwarding you have to enable the native dialer. I haven't tested it on this device but on the n7 3g you had to decompile the framework-res.apk and go to values, then bools.xml and change voice capable to true. This will unlock the native Google dialer hopefully. From there in the settings you can forward your voice calls to your Google voice or Vonage phone number.

talking of the sgh-i467, im living outside us... couldn t find anywhere to buy it other than att witch require ssn.... d you have any idea were i can buy it ? I dont want the international version since I ould like to have the LTE.... (living in Canada...)
Skype works fine, phone calls and skype to skype calls.
XDA section for the SGH-I467
Anybody knows why there is no section for this device yet ? also I tried to search all around to find stock firmware for it but I couldn't... anybody have odin images for it ?
Take it for what its worth but I called samsung and they said the att version does not have a voice radio in it.
I used the original AT&T Galaxy Tab as a phone for 2 1/2 years. The hardware worked fine. Never heard of a "voice radio." I have heard that AT&T had Samsung remove an earpiece speaker. If true, then you'd have to use your Note 8.0 with a wired ear phone, Bluetooth device or as a speaker phone. The critical issue for me is: how will this item sell? I don't see AT&T selling a lot of them. To mean that means that the endusers will see fewer ROMs down the road. Developers here can probably root this device and unlock the bootloader. Someone will -- at some point in the next few months -- make a ROM with voice capabilities available. And don't expect "official" Cyanogen releases.
However, AT&T may block the the Note 8.0 from access to voicecalls based on the IMEI. Now, the IMEI can be hacked, but that's -- legally speaking -- a gray area. Altering IMEIs to get "free" service is illegal. Doing so to access service that you're paying for violates the letter of the law, but not its intent and won't bring about any dire result.
At the end of the day, you may be able to access (after jumping through a lot of hoops) AT&T voice services and use the phone for a year or so, but it's not worth the bother. Get the S4 and tether a decent cheaper wifi tablet to it. Yes, it's nicer to have one device, but under this conditions impractical.

I was looking in Titanium backup and saw a dialer... maybe this could help with development
at&t note 8.0 sgh-I467
Seems to either be to dificult to root this device or its just not practible , no one wants a sim unlock
advertisement we can look else where or google it lol, we want a bootloader unlock . If you want to talk on this model download talkatone
if you want to move apps to sd card download ghost commander there is no real good way to
root this particular device there are at least 4 or 5 versions n5100 n5110 n5120 sghmi467 and sghi467
I have tried unsucessfullyo root this device by any forums the only one that gave me root access was cwm
super user and paid version of busy box , now if you have a computer more advanced than mine then
corbins is a good one and the detoxed version using adb is good howrver there is still no custom rom
Dogmans idea of saferoot also is good to go hiwever no custom rom I even tried safestrap 3.65 from hash
code not working with this device I used flashfly and fladhed the 5120 boot.img Big Mistake corbins p cloud
i467 camf1 got me out of that wirh odin 3.07 its known Hash Code has this on todo list of devices but he is

No data allowed.

Hi guys,
I have the N5100 3G version. I have had it since may and it has worked well. However, since yesterday, Three UK started blocking me from using data. It says I have to get a tablet sim. The problem is I don't want to loose the ability to make phone calls.
Has anyone had an issue like this?
I'm also having the same issue, I have spoken to three support today at length with the result being "we can sell you a mobile broadband plan sim that you can swap out for data" - it appears that Three have launched the LTE version on the note 8 as a tablet only device (ie, no phone or text) and so are blocking all versions of the note 8 under that ruling.
I'm going to try and get to talk to someone not loacted in India tomorrow to look into this as this is my main device for phone calls aswell as data and I'm locked into the one plan for another 9 months!

Yay, I am not the only one! I am really disappointed with it. They don't seem to understand me, I also use it as my main device. I do wonder how they identify the device, it would be good if we could change it so they think its a phone.

We 5100 owners in the US want the exact opposite: tablet plans are so much cheaper, we wish it were recognized as tablets instead of phones! If they are identifying your device by imei number, you may be able to get around it by using an imei from an LTE version. I had a similar issue (in reverse) and that's how it was resolved. I may eventually get caught, but for now, I'm flying under the radar.

How difficult was that to do?
Be careful talk of changing imei is against the TOS on these forums. As tempting as it sounds it is both dangerous and legally dubious. It is a common tactic used by phone thieves to activate stolen phones. Also modifying such information can render your phone a paper weight if not careful.
