Google Play Services Gets Improved Mobile Ads And Multiplayer Support, Google+ Sharing And Preview Of Drive API
Google today started rolling out the latest version of its Google Play services for Android. Just like earlier updates, version 4.1 brings a number of incremental changes to the company’s service for integrating Google services into mobile apps. The rollout is currently in process and should land on all Android devices worldwide within the next few days.
Today’s update brings support for turn-based multiplayer games to Play services, for example. With this, developers can easily build asynchronous games with up to eight participants. Every time a player takes a turn, the data is uploaded to Google’s servers and shared with the other players. Google has integrated this service with its tools for matching players with others, too.
Also new in this update is improved support for Google+ sharing. This, the company says, will make it “even easier for users to share with the right people from your app.” As part of this update, users will be able to get auto-complete support and suggested recipients for all Gmail contacts, device contacts and people on Google+.
Developers can now also use Play services to access Google Drive through a new API that’s now in preview. With this, they can read and write files in Drive. Users will be able to work on these files offline, and changes will be synced automatically.
For developers who use Google’s ad products, this new version introduces full support for DoubleClick for Publishers, DoubleClick Ad Exchange and Search Ads for Mobile Apps. What’s most interesting for advertisers, though, is that publishers can now also use a new location API to give Google access to a user’s location when requesting ads. Location-based ads are likely to perform better than generic ads, after all, though users have generally been a bit nervous about sharing this data with advertisers given the potential privacy ramifications.
One other feature most users will likely appreciate is improved battery life. While Google isn’t sharing any details about this, the company said that anybody who has Google Location Reporting turned on should see longer battery life after this update, though whether that means less than 1 percent more (likely) or 10 percent more (very unlikely) remains to be seen.

[Q] How to download T-mobile visual voicemail apk?

I recently installed Wicked ROM v7 on my S3. I saw that T-mobile has a new version of their Visual Voicemail in the google play store (version 3, released Nov. 7th 2012). However when I try to download to my device from my computer's web browser the play store says "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." If I go to the play store on my S3 and search for the app it doesn't show up (presumably b/c it thinks it's not compatible). Is there a way to manually download the APK file to manually install from my SD card?
Thanks

I was JUST about to ask for this .apk as well, good thing I searched. I am having this problem as well on Slim Bean, assuming it's because the buildprop is listed as ATT.
Can anyone please post the 3.0.11.1 version?
Interesting.
Down in Mexico with data roaming turned off, on a wifi connection, stock unrooted LJ4 firmware. App doesn't appear for me in the Play Store using my phone.
However, when I log into Play on my laptop, the app appears, and says it is "Installed", but also says, "This item is not compatible" with my SGH-T999, and won't let me choose to install it.
Currently installed version on my phone is 2.0.28.
Don't be so quick to get it.....read the reviews first. Universally panned as not working right on the few devices it is compatible with.
I just noticed this too. It's in My Apps in the play store, but not compatible with my device. I just went back to Wicked, v7 too.

Well I would like to try it out myself to determine if I want it or not. But maybe this isn't a problem with my buildprop, but it actually isn't "compatible" (even though i'm pretty sure it would work) with our phones?

Don't think it's buildprop as it's not working on stock unrooted. I think this version is flat-out incompatible, possibly even a test version released to just a few models for bug identification before wider release.

Hm. I'm rooted, too, but can't get it to work. I get the "not available for your device" message and if I use the Xpose workaround, it starts up, but never completes the setup. So basically all I can do with it is monitor payments made with Wallet online, but not use it for purchases on my Note II....still.
I downloaded wallet just fine on mine im stock will check tomorrow to see if it works

I am on AOSP and I was able to download Google wallet and set it up. Unlike before where wallet would download but when I launch it would tell me that my device is not supported and close the app.
Looks like little by little those with issues are getting theirs to work. On another thread a member said he contacted Google and they said the issue is going be getting resolved. It's only some phones that are having issues.

Team Black Out Presents.... The Dark Side....Blacked Out Apps

"Welcome to the Dark Side"
Click the quote above to access the site
Team Black Out is made up of some of the best of the best in the industry when it comes to making Blacked Out Apps and Transparent Apps. We decided to team up and release the largest list of Blacked Out Apps available and add to it as often as possible. Our goal is to offer an ongoing list of apps that are updated as soon as possible after the stock app updates by letting just 1 person update it rather than 3-10 of us doing our own thing and ultimately ending up with the same end result.. an Inverted app. So, by doing this, we will be able to branch out and get the list to over 100 apps in time! Many of us have been doing this for over 3 years and some have just began their journey to the Dark Side but we are a team and will work together like a team. The veterans will help train the new-comers how to start from scratch and fully Black Out an app by editing xml lines, drawable images and smali classes files. On the site, we have guides available and will add more of them in time. We announce the Team over a month ago and now the day is here!

T-BOTs are the Team Black Out Testers. When we update an app or start a new one from scratch, we can put anywhere from 20 minutes to 10 hours into 1 app for all of you and then testing that app can take 10-60 minutes and we don't use every app we Black Out so we're bound to miss some hidden things. Well, this is where our Loyal T-BOTs come into play. Once we update an app they get busy looking for issues for us. This gives us more time to be able to update more apps, start new apps or just have some non-android fun. So make sure you thank the T-BOTs when you get blown away from how amazing these apps are!
Obviously this style is the most popular. We don't theme our apps with images but rather Invert the Colors so you'll;ll have Dark backgrounds and Light texts. This is very popular and has become something that many avid Android users have come to thoroughly enjoy this look so we will do our best to give you more of what you love!
Transparent apps have become more popular the last year or so and some members of the Team have been offering them for a while now. Our transparent series of app are called Clear Apps. Being able to see your wallpaper while you';re using your favorite apps is just cool! We still have to update the site with all of our Clear Apps...
Ok kids... click on "Welcome to the Dark Side" at the top and it will take you to our official Team Black Out website! All downloads are hosted there only to keep track of everything. If you've used any of our apps in the past in your Aroma installers or in your ROM, you can still use them. Link back to our SITE wherever you post our content tho. Do not post something in a different forum using our work and then PM us to let us know and hope it's ok with us.... It isn't. Ask first and we'll work with you but ask for forgiveness and we have a problem.

Just saying you should learn what you're doing. Not everyone is going to cater to what you know and you can ruin your phone just trying stuff. I'm not your mom or anything though. I don't have to take care of your phone. I know what I'm doing.

Google Maps updated to v7.0 with all new UI
As is typical since I/O, Google is using their staged rollout method of releasing app updates, so there is a pretty good chance that you can’t update it yet through google play (direct download links below).
Changelog:
New design for Android phones and tablets
Enhanced navigation including live traffic updates, incident reports and dynamic rerouting
Explore: A new way to browse and discover popular local places to eat, drink, shop, play and sleep
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.maps
DOWNLOAD: Mirror 1 - Mirror 2
Update: Some are having issue with installing on devices running Android versions other than 4.2 - Try Mirror 3 - Mirror 4
According to Google Play, you have to be running Android 4.0.3+ in order to install this from Google Play.

What issue did u have? I'll do my best to help
7 is a horrible update.
Removes offline maps
The menu key no longer works, you have to press that tab on the lower side of the screen.
Also the onscreen zoom buttons were removed.
I like the map interface and the traffic report icons but overall it's not worth the update.
I reverted back to 6.something.

FYI, offline is there. You just have to search for it. Maybe push some buttons, scroll down the page and you'll find different things that you need. Good luck to ya. Yeah I didn't like it at first, but after messing around with it more it grew on me. Actually loads much faster, than the older version.

What one earth is google thinking. They just made something that looks nice but of no use.
Thread cleaned ...If you cannot post in a respectful manner and/or have nothing to contribute or that furthers development, then save the time and energy and don't post anything.

Any more from those posters whose posts I have deleted, you will be infracted if there are any more troll posts made. Final warning.
Try to be more civil with each other.
I haven't updated yet because I've been using Latitude fault and they removed it. Jane others updated and adjusted to using location tools in Google+?
Any tips or feedback is appreciated.

Where the heck do I see my history now. I used to be able to view the entire route of where I been for previous days. It was neat to show fellow employees when we got on route subjects and i could recall what area I was in on any particular day

How stop Maps and Hangouts from auto-updating

Guys,
I'm having a crazy problem where the new 7.x Google Maps gets pushed to my Note 2, upgrading over the old Maps 6.14.4 I have installed. Same with Hangouts pushing over Gtalk. I have of course disabled auto-updates in the Play Store, and have disabled updating for those two apps on an individual basis in the store as well.
What gives, and how do I stop it or lock the existing apps as non-replaceable? As it stands, I keep copies of both old apks and reinstall over the new ones when it occurs. I can't figure out a pattern for the pushes, nor even see when they occur. I just starts Maps or Talk, get ticked, then downgrade. This happens ever day or two.

Do you have the latest version of Play Store?
4.3.11, which does appear to be the latest version. What version do you suggest rolling back to?
Use lucky patcher to install a custom patch and remove the auto update. Works like a charm.

I had similar problem once. I found that some apps I downloaded when I was logged to play store with my second Gmail account. I did turned off auto update on different account but not the one which I used to download those apps.

The New play store you can check auto update apps globally. But u can uncheck specific apps to not and the.play store 4.3.10 + will comply .... http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...pps-and-update-all-will-honor-these-settings/

@deez, I've done that. Re: disabled the individual auto update. I'm getting these pushed on me still somehow.
@mongo, will try LP.
Yeah it really does seem not to care. I even tried detaching from play store with titanium backup. Seems like shortly after(after reboot?) It attached again/updates. I eventually have in and been dealing with the terrible new maps. Btw you can just uninstall the update by going to app info

It's easy to do. Install lucky patcher app. Open app, click on the app you want to modify, on the bottom of screen click custom patch a Window will pop up with options click disable auto self update. That's it no more updates. I have themed versions of maps and play store and that'd what I did to stop the updates.

I installed the latest LP from the LP website, v 3.5.4, here http://lucky-patcher.netbew.com/.
I did not see an option to disable auto updating. But I did replace the play store with the LP hacked version, and it is honoring the "no auto update" settings.
Spoke too soon. Twice today gtalk upgraded to Hangouts on me. So damn aggravating

I recall this procedure from older LPs. But this new one has changed a bit. What version are you running?

Ok how would this work for latest version 4.4.2.1.??
I know this is an old thread, but Google Maps is up to no good again. Since the latest update, GPS tracking is screwed up, app loading times are super slow, and there are a plethora of other issues. I tried lucky patcher, but there are no custom patches for Maps. In fact, I had to restore an older version (9.14.0) just to get Maps to even show up in the app list in Lucky Patcher. So does anyone have any idea how to remove Maps self-update (for 9.14.0), or how to get the most recent Maps to show up in LP?
