Hi,
Cant find the RUU for CID HTC_K18 and each RUU i am trying to flash is stuck at error 158
Anyone can help finding the RUU for HTC_K18 or advise how change the CID so i can flash another RUU?
Thanks !
Can't change cid on a s-on device. As for the ruu,it needs to match the main number.
Fastboot getvar-main
If there is not a ruu at androidruu.com you have to go back to stock with a nandroid backup. There is a backup collection thread in the general section.
if i run "fastboot getvar all" what i get is :
version-main: 4.20.461.2
while my HBOOT is 1.73.0000
based on that can you help direction me which RUU should i flash ?
No ruu at all. Not possible ! Only a nandroid backup can save you.
Or install a custom rom !
I tried to flash a custom ROM which i already had on the device but it did not succeeded failure with the touch scree.
I tried to restore a nandroid backup which i had on the device and it fail to restore the system so no luck with this also.
My current status is :
1. unlocked bootloader
2. cwm recovery
3. No boot - stuck with the htc logo
4. not having another ROM on the htc one x so i can flash
I guess i need to "push" somehow a ROM into the device and try restore from it to stable condition,
then copy one of the stock nandroid backups and try to restore from the stock nandroid backup.
what is the fastboot command to copy a ROM from my PC to the HTC ?
any other good suggestion so at least i can have a basic stable status to continue from there ?
Flash this recovery https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img enter it and mount the sdcard as a mass storage device in the mounts and storage menu.
Copy a sense 5 rom to it. Flash the boot.img from the rom and perform a FULL wipe in recovery and install the rom.
And when a nand does not restore the system it's probably because it's not wiped in recovery !

Because your nandroid is setup to work on a Stock Hboot is the reason it's not working. The system partition space is not enough for your nandbackup file.
did you wipe cache via fastboot after rebooting of bootloader?
fastboot erase cache
you need to wipe/format all partitions including dalvik except sdcard
then flash it again...
Nandroid back up will be not working because you changed system partition size as backup from stock hboot is way too big to fit onto cm7/r2 system partition

I think you have to reflash the stock rom, or with a nandroid backup or with a ruu.

Flashing the recovery or the boot.img will not help, something is damaged in the rom...
You have to flash a ruu or a nandroid to get the phone back to 100% stock !
Hopefully you are storing precious data on the cloud ?
What's on the sdcard could be saved, if you flash back the custom recovery you can mount the sdcard as a diskdrive and get copy the data over to pc !
A ruu puts the phone back to its original (full wiped) state

Or find the matching ruu on htcruu.com or on the file factory
Or find a matching nandroid backup from the nandroid backup collection thread in the general section !

Guys i've installed CWM and unlcoked my tegra HTC One X.
I want to go back to the stock rom and dont have a backup. I am running 2.17.980.6 with OPTUS_001 CID. I can't find this ROM anywhere....
I tried a few newer versions of the OPTUS_001 CID ROM, but neither worked. What i'm doing is (a) relocking the bootrom with fastboot oem lock (b) in fastboot usb, typing fastboot flash boot boot.img, where boot.img is from the RUU i downloaded (two versions I got from the xda formums).
When I do the second command, i get the following
sending 'boot' (8192 KB)... FAILED (remote: (00000008))
I've also tried doing the Software update within the phone itself, it reboots my phone, then it goes to the bootloader screen and sits there........ weird. I also can't load recovery anymore, and my bootloader now says *** RELOCKED *** *** Security Warning ***
Help!!
Thanks
First thing now is to unlock the bootloader now.....i will find a link to a "new" stock nandroid backup you can use !

Here is a 2.17 nandroid backup for Optus 001 ....
Flash the custom cwm recovery again ans enter it, go to mounts and storage and mount is a usb mass storage device. Then unpack and copy the nandroid to the right folder on the sdcard of the phone. Copy the boot.img from that nandroid to the fastboot folder.
Now you flash the boot.img first. Type in the command window on the pc
Adb reboot bootloader
Then
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then unhook the usb cable and enter the recovery
Make a full wipe there......factory reset, wipe cache partion, dalvik cache, system, data .....
Then restore the nandroid backup and boot it up to check of it works. Now don't update ! You need to flash back the stock 2.17 recovery first in order to be able to update !

Hi Hofs,
My HTC has been sitting on a table gathering dust all this time. I wiped the dust off it and gave it a charge and thought i'd give your process a whirl.
I'm right up to the last step, where I need to restore the stock 2.17 recovery. I clicked the link you provided to dropbox and it says file not found! doh.......... any chance you have the file still?
Cheers, joo

Fastboot getvar version-main
You should have made one before messing around as it's mandatory !
this is mine
Nandroid Backup / Mirror 3.18.401.1 CID__102 thanks to S2kT68m (Restore using TWRP)
i found it in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
but as i said before i didnt find this folder in my sd (sdcard/TWRP/Backups)
You unpack the nandroid to the sdcard to the specific folder. If the folder tree is not in the backup you create the folders yourself.
Flash the boot.img and recovery.img from the nandroid backup and perform a full wipe in the recovery, then restore the nand and check if the rom works. After you flash back this stock recovery
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pqp1p3tgvyod610/Stock recovery 3.20.img
And perform the ota's that are available. Next time make a nandroid yourself !
Thank u very much but how to mack nandroide?
Once you updated the phone completely you flash back a custom recovery and enter it, go I to the menu indicating backup and restore and press backup. Then it will make a clean full backup of the phone. Keep it safe

i flash it then try to got recovery but it dsnt work!!
then i searched for trwp recovery and instill it then i get in the recovery and recovering the backup when it finish that
the system freezes on the lock screen and never change until i restart the phone
plz i need ur help what to do

You must to download nandroid backup and restore to your phone after this apply update to latest JB
Hi
I've been given a One X (he bought an M8) and I thought I'd easily put on KK 4.4.4, but I have hit a brick wall.
It was running ViperX 2.6.0 with Hboot 0.95, and it's S-ON.
Well 4.4.4 needs a Hboot above 1.28, so the flashing failed.
So I did my homework and got the CID (it's HTC-023) to install the firmware so that I could update the Hboot via OTA.
So I installed the boot.img for the HTC-023 firmware and that (of course) was a an error as I didn't have a copy of the boot.img for the ViperX 2.6.0.
Then the firmware was a .rar file and didn't install anyrate.
So now it's in bootloop.
I have not been able to find a copy of ViperX 2.6.0 to extract the required boot.img
I've got TWRP with Sideloader installed, and ADB works fine.
So I am stuck (like my One X really) so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Solution
I thought I should post the solution.
The essential problem was to get a Hboot 1.28 or higher so that a new version of Cyanogenmod could be installed.
On this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376&page=189 is the following from ClydeB1
To flash you need to run the following commands: (It is advised to take a backup of your data and important files on your sd card)
1. Lock bootloader - fastboot oem lock
2. Boot to RUU mode - fastboot oem rebootRUU
3. Flash firmware - fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (if you get an error then rerun this command)
Note: The firmware will flash the new hboot, as well as a new stock boot.img and stock recovery.img.
To flash a custom rom you then need to do the following:
4. Unlock bootloader - fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin (you can use the same unlock_code file as you used previously, check your emails if you can't find it, or else reapply at htcdev.com)
5. Flash custom recovery - fastboot flash recovery nameofrecoveryfile.img
Note: If the unlock process wiped your sd card you may need to boot to recovery and mount usb storage to copy the rom file across again. If your phone won't boot into recovery then run command - fastboot erase cache and try again.
If you then wish to flash a JB custom rom:
6. Flash new boot.img from rom - fastboot flash boot boot.img
7. For good measure - fastboot erase cache
8. Boot to recovery and flash rom
I followed these steps exactly and it worked perfectly. I did need to use CWM as with TWRP the touch screen did not work.
and have more ease way to do this. You are with too low HBOOT and you can run RUU and then update the phone to latest JB because are you know witch HBoot you install to your phone
