I ordered this from amazon:
HDE Diamond Stitch Hard Leather Folding Folio Case Cover with Keyboard for 7" Tablet (White)
amazon.com/gp/product/B00BGEN5AG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1[/url]
It says this in the description :
Connects to your 7" tablet via Micro USB Male Adapter. Please make sure your tablet has a Micro USB female port to accept this plug type. Also, your device must have a USB host in order for the keyboard to function. Please consult the manufacturer of your tablet for those details
When I received it, I couldn't get it to work. I plugged it into my phone - to make sure it wasn't defective (it worked fine)
Do I need to download a driver or something?
Please help,
Thanks

You could buy something like this, and I think it would work if you also bought an adapter for the keyboard's cord:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/EPL-AU10WEGXAR
Or you could look over threads like this for info on getting your keyboard to work as is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398900&page=3
Or you could just pay $10-20 for a bluetooth keyboard and a new stand or case.
I previously bought the same case/keyboard (or a very similar one) off of Amazon and had the same experience (not with the Galaxy Tab). But I folded the case inside out and it has worked well for me as a bedside stand.

Hi buddy,
the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 has no working usb host functionality, some voltage is missing (similar to Nexus 4). Maybe the solutions for Nexus 4 can help you too... Do some Google or XDA search...

Could this be possible? I though you can not use USB and charge the tablet both at the same time!

Happy to try this out, unless any of you have already tried it and can confirm this to be a hoax.

Don't do it! I bought one of these and it did not work, had to raise a dispute on ebay about the buyer after which a replacement was sent. The replacement did not work either. It does not recognise usb sticks neither does it charge as advertised.
SNAP..... I too have one of these and they are useless.
After I contacted the Ebay UK seller he wanted me to first take a video showing the item not working?????
When I said no I'll send it back, he then wanted me to send another video showing me cutting the cables and destroying it before they refunded my money.
This dragged on for a good few days and to be frank for £4.50 I simply lost interest.
Negative Feedback left.

I think we must have brought from the same seller, he told me to do the same. I sent him pics of it not working and he sent me another which was exactly the same, USELESS!
He also told me to destroy both of them and send him pictures as proof, could not be bothered either. My wife is able to use them as a usb hub for her mac book so I told her to use the crap with her crap as they are compatible

The one you have found may not list the Note 10.1 but the item both HasC and myself found and purchased from does explicitly only mentions the Note 10.1 ~ 30Pin to USB 3 Port Hub Charger Kit for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 N8010
Again to all here, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM, it will DEFINITELY FAIL.

She just connected the usb end into one of the usb slots and tried a flash drive and it recognised it and worked.
I have not tried it on a pc but it will probably work as well, just does not work with Note 10.1
It may also work with the normal note 10.1 but do not have or can get access to one to try it on.

Thanks.. Just tried it on my Laptop with a USB Stick but nothing doing..... It's still as dead as a Dodo.
So I switched from a Motorola Xoom, which I have loved, to a modern, lighter, Note 10.1 from Costco.
I immediately rooted via Darkman's method.
What I really liked about the xoom was the HDMI adapter and OTG.
I travel a lot and being able to hook up to a hotel TV and stream Netflix or episodes of shows has been great.
I found the lack of HDMI port and 30 pin rather frustrating.
Anyways, these are the accessories that I bought and here are my comments:
Samsung Electronics Book Cover for Galaxy Note 10.1-Inch, White (EFC-1G2NWECXAR)
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Galaxy-10-1-Inch-EFC-1G2NWECXAR/dp/B008X46QTO
Review: Great Case. I like the white for my white tablet. I know the camera is not useable with cover on easily, but the magnetic and antislip hold in the 2 positions has been great. In my opinion this case comes the closest to an ipad cover without actually being an ipad cover. The magnetic hold had not affected my S Pen and the cover is skinny and great texture to hold. Worth the $50 IMHO.
OEM USB OTG Connection Kit & Card Reader for SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 10.1 P7500 P7510 BLACK
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006DQWIKK
Review: The first one did not work, the little button broke and the seller on Amazon sent me a free one, it had worked great so far and I have been able to transfer files back and forth including moves and pictures without a problem. Kind of bulky, and I fear it will break off if any abnormal pressure is applied, but for $4.99 I paid for it it was well worth it to just have around.
ZEEESTM Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 HDTV Adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0059UGT1K
Review: Now this is interesting. I was pissed off that it didn't work the first time. I read the instruction and realized that you need to have the power connected to the HDMI adapter for it to work.. The Note will detect the adapter, but the TV would not unless power is supplied to it. Which is very frustrating compared to the Xoom. I was used to mini HDMI out on Xoom that worked without external power. Now here is the silver lining. You do not need to use the Samsung 2A adapter, I used a 0.5A USB port on the TV and it works, I used a 1A iPhone charger and it worked! The super-silver lining is that generic 0.5A and 1A adapters which cannot usually charge the Note directly, do actually charge the note when connected though the HDMI adapter, even when not connected to an HDMI TV. Can I a get a Hallelujah! Fogetting my Note 2A adapter at home is not an issue, specially when I can run USB and HDMI straight to the TV!!
Aduro Samsung Galaxy Tablet Extra Long USB Charge & Sync Data Cable
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008AJNF78
Review: Great to match my HDMI cable so the Xoom can be 6ft away from the TV.
Lastly, I had a left over Xoom screen protector which I cut around the front camera are and stuck on the Note screen and it works fine with the S-Pen, no bubbles. In other words generic screen protectors work and you dont have to buy a special S Pen friendly one.
Thanks for this post. Just added all this to my wish list
Yea. Thanks for the tips.
Didn't like the 30 pin connector and was concerned about the HDMI connection. Your post helped.
very useful tips,thank you.
thank you for your recomendation
I was wondering if anyone has come across a device they have tested or know allows the use of MHL and USB Host at the same time. I know this functionality is possible with the new 11-pin microUSB port seen on the Galaxy S3, Note II & S4.
- I know you can buy an all in one solution called the Samsung Smart Dock
https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-S20JWEGSTA
But I'm looking for a cable as I want to be able to hold it in my hand as it's connected to the tv and have it in landscape mode instead of being stuck in a stiff dock with no ability to freely move it around to your liking.
- I know there is a thread to make your own cable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142357
But I want a quality cable, preferably a mass produced one that is properly designed and sturdy.
Any ideas?
Hey Guys,
I just found this cool Accessory at Best Buy its the Micro USB/USB Connector Model: EPL-AU10WEGXAR. Like many of you I wanted the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 to be a full fledge Computer with its super fast processor and Multi-Task capabilities. The way I have mine set up is as so. I bought the Moko Leather Case from Amazon flipped it around since don't really use the camera plug the Micro USB and then at the end is a Female USB that I use to plug in my mouse. I bought a HP Keyboard that I assume was meant for some windows device but I truly only got it because of the size. Like me I most of you guys know the struggle of not being able to find any accessories. The Adapter was only $20. Now I know we all could prefer the Samsung Media Dock with the 3 USBs PLUS charging to work but for now this a inexpensive workaround. Wired Mice are like $5, Bluetooth Keyboards go as cheap as $20 on Amazon, and the Adapter is only $20. So There you have $55 for the hardware not including the case. Im sure theres plenty of cheap options for cases. If you guys have any Questions feel free to ask.

Let's see some pics of the setup.
Hey Guys,
I recently bought a Micro to USB OTG cable but unfortunately can't get it to work on my new S Tab(10.5).
I am able to get it to work on my Galaxy S3 phone and old Nexus 7 tab so it appears that the cable works fine. My S Tab is not rooted and currently does have the latest updates. I also ran the OTG checker which verifies that my tablet has the necessary files. When I run the OTG troubleshooter tho it does not appear to be picking up my cable at all.
I originally bought this to use my wired 360 controller on my tablet, the 360 controller and flash memory sticks are the only things I have tested on the cable itself. Like I said above, my S3 and Nexus 7 picks up these 2 devices just fine through the cable.
Anything that I am missing? Any tips/quirks to get this to work?
Thanks so much for your time/help!
P.S. attempted to post link to my exact cable but couldn't because I am a new member.
Are you willing to have device root and flash a custom kernel?
If yes, then my SkyHigh kernel does support OTG and has in-built XPAD (XBOX) controller module and confirmed working by another user. Some games may require you to map the controller with a certain app, some without.
FS support is dependent on kernel. If you are trying to mount NTFS r/w, then you will need to also install Paragon app or navigate to /mnt/ntfs/.... for kernel NTFS r/o
It's possible that it could be your cable. I had problems a couple years ago with an otg cable not working on my Note 2 but working in a couple older devices. It turns out it was because the micro usb end that plugs into the phone was too short to plug in all the way. I'm not sure if it's a new standard or something, but my Note 2, Note 8, S5 and Tab S all seem to have a cable with a longer micro usb tip than any of my previous devices have.
Hold the otg cable next to the charge cable that came with your Tab S and see if the tip of the otg cable is a couple of millimetres shorter. Also plug the charge cable into the tab and notice the way it kind of "clicks" into place when you push it in the last little bit. Now plug in the otg cable and see if it has the same "click" feel. If not, then I'd bet it's your cable. I have an otg cable that specifically states that it's for an S5 and it works perfectly on all the devices mentioned above. I also have a generic otg cable that works on my old galaxy nexus but doesn't work on any of the above devices.
Here's the old thread in case that helps:

Thanks for the reply's.
I don't really want to go down the Root road because I have never gone through that process and don't feel comfortable with it at this time.
The cable Micro pin portion definitely doesn't fit as snug as the S Tab charger. The OTG cable actually appears to be longer than my S Tab charger Mirco pin. When plugged in you can tell it sticks out a smidge....The thing with that though, it does the same exact thing on my other 2 devices that work with the cable.
Guess it could be the cable, just hate to send this back and order another and be in the same boat.

Cable or no cable, if you wish XPAD controller, then you'll need the kernel or loadable kernel compiled module. Other features (some I described) also require kernel. ... all requiring root.
Since you've ruled that out, you just need to forget many features that are available with some other devices and move on.
Best of luck.
