Hello everyone!
I'm about to upgrade my device, will get a S4, but I had previously installed custom roms in the past, and the counter has tripped, right now I have the 4.3 update, do you guys know if it wont brick my device? I only have root access and disabled the knox security, besides that, I'm running with everything stock
Thanks for your help!

and have a device status read "Normal" ?
Mine reads "Modified". What steps do I need to take?

Could try to Odin back to stock firmware and then follow Mr. Robinson's thread for his already injected Rooted Roms.
But keep in mind once you have a different recovery other than the stock one you'll still be considered Modified.
Thank you. Looks like I will wait for next update an decide if is worth to unroot. Currently im on stock firmware with ota root keeper used before last update. Rooted with exynos abuse.

Sounds like a smart plan.
Flash to K8, root with exploit, use OTA rootkeeper. That's what I did and mine still reads normal even with root enabled. But honestly that is the best rooting method without using a different recovery and tripping your flash counter.

Thanks! What about otas? What needs to be done to get them, when time comes?

Needs to be stock unrooted to my knowledge or someone will get the update and apply it and build a rom around it

If you are rooted, you will not receive OTA updates.
You will get a prompt stating there is an update available, if you hit "update", it will go into download mode, but if you are rooted or your KNOX is tripped, it will do 1 of 2 things:
Update will fail and device will reboot or
Device will brick and you will have to Odin back to stock.
The only way you can get the OTA updates is if you reset you KNOX counter (which I don't think is possible yet) and revert your firmware/system to stock Samsung Official (using Supersu full unroot and Chainfire's Triangle Away)
There are guides how to unroot to official on the internet.
Hope this helped.

Hmm, What could happen is if you only have root with not custom recovery, you will get OTA and will be able to flash just fine...(with knox still at 0x0) { done this with many phones only problem is loose root}
Now if you have removed any apps from system and try to update, then you would get a fail and just a reboot..
Or if you have root and tripped knox and still have stock recovery you will get OTA be able to flash and will loose root and still have knox flag tripped
like most cases, as if you would unlock htc bootloader... it says "unlocked" long there is no system files removed and you have stock recovery you are able still get OTA and flash them fine but the bootloader still remains unlocked...
what devynbf said is like worse case scenarios
I have heard issues with 4.3 and with all knox stuff.. is it advisable to root now?
If so use kingo app for 4.1.2
anyone?
no one?
It don't matter just choose one. Am 4.3 rooted with no Knox. I just deleted the files

gotcha..ended up rooting 4.1.2 might just jump on something else. thanks
Hey guys
I don't currently have this phone model, but my friend wants me to root and install a 4.4 rom on it. Just have a couple of questions.
Would saferoot or cf-autoroot both work? I have no experience with either so if someone could recommend one over the other that would be great. I'm a little more experienced with saferoot since I'm recommending it for people who took our 4.3 OTA. Never actually used it.
Also for us Verizon folks, we got locked bootloaders in the update. I know that Knox is included in the update, but am I able to still install a custom rom over it? I understand the Knox counter will be tripped, but I'm not concerned about that. Just don't want the phone to soft brick from an installation.

Cf auto root works. You can still install custom roms if you trip Knox

I flashed the UCUCNE5 ROM with custom recovery (TWRP) and rooted. I am probably going to sell my Note 2, and was wondering if there is a way to unroot the device and flash the stock recovery + a stock ROM that enables OTA updates? I don't really care about the KNOX counter, as this device is not under warranty anymore..unless the KNOX counter prevents OTA updates? Thanks!
Just unroot in the settings of supersu and then flash 4.1.1 or 4.3 stock firmware

Knox will not affect the OTA...
And likely the only people that would care about Knox would be corporate users needing the container intact. .
Sad to see the note go....g
