fix for netflix audio sync? - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've noticed that while using netflix on my stock GPad (original not GPE), the audio and video do not properly match up. It's annoying to the point where I don't want to use the app. This also happens on the WatchESPN app, although I don't use that one as much so I don't really care. I even downloaded an older Netflix apk and it helped the problem slightly, but it's still noticable. The audio syncs fine in other apps and movies I have stored on my device. I was wondering if anyone knows about a solution to this that doesn't involve rooting.

[Q] Sorry this video cannot be played

I'm not sure how much people have tried this out yet, but has anyone managed to successfully play videos via dlna (connected media tab in galleries)
eg. i can play an avi file perfectly locally on the device.
but everytime i try to stream it via windows media server/orb media server, i get the message 'Sorry this video cannot be played'
anyone else?
maybe something htc needs to fix?
Tried resetting your router? Maybe thats it.
I tried this and had mixed results: Tversity on win 7 would serve up the videos but none would play. Normal shared folder would let me play .mp4 but not .avi
Ooer!

I am trying to figure out how to enable a 2nd player in the unit, on first run it pops up and asks me which player to use, but only the supplied mplayer is available, if i could get it to see say rockplayer, then these issues would go away

I agree, I'm feeling this is another bug, mainly because the local video playback using htc video player (or whatever its called) is intermittently useless. sometimes it works, sometimes it plays the first five seconds and stops, sometimes not at all. All on the same video at different times.
vplayer works fine though..
also it seems unlikely that resetting the router will help, as airvideo via my iphone works fine, but i will try later on when at home again.
Haven't tried this yet, but have you checked that you have all the right codecs installed on your pc? I know windows media player has a hard time with certain codec's and file types where as vlc player doesn't, yet i don't know how this would sit when streaming video.

I think this is an issue with playback of videos on the phone, not on the computer...
If the file plays back fine on the computer, then it's not gonna be a codec problem (from the computer's side anyway).
Having this problem too. Is someone going to contact HTC?

I have very similar results. Using Windows 7's Media Player Streamer I can browse all my videos , music and photos , but none of these can be played (the server works ok,'coz I still can play videos and other media from other PC). I've some better results with XBMC's media stream (UPNP server) the photos works fine, but still can't play other media.
I can't manage to open the DHD's video, audio or images using DLNA connection.
At the beginning I think that the problem is with codecs, but since this media is opened with no problem once it copied on the phone I'm sure there is a problem with the player playing content over UPNP connection.
I had that kind of issues with an old ubuntu install, but all was fixed when installed VLC Player, so I hope someone can make a good port of VLC to android.
I've managed to playback mp3s and looked at pictures stored on my computer via my phone, so that part is OK, but videos are a no-go, which is a shame.
Very simple answer to this people.
The Desire HD and Z does not support "Play To" Receiver
Because of this AVI wont work.
Just check DLNA's website.
Compare it to bluetooth,
Both are very sensitive to compatibility and such
Never mind...

Well that's just stopped me buying the HTC Media Link, like htcsense.com they big this up in their adverts and then can't deliver.
Avi seems not to work, but I've managed to stream to my phone .mp4 files.

some avi files have actually started playing. most stop within a few seconds though.. if it can do this, why not the whole video?
Also i did check DLNAs website, and they've actually certified the Desire HD as a M-DMP device. I know they've only tested it with images (according to the certificate) however the description of a M-DMP device is:
These wireless devices find and play content on a digital media server (DMS) or mobile digital media server (M-DMS).
Examples: mobile phones and mobile media tablets designed for viewing multimedia content.
So it must be a HTC bug? (based on the fact that it DOES play the start of some files and that it is M-DMP certified..)
EDIT: well it must be a codec thing.. rockplayer plays all these files fine.. even locally the 'Videos/gallery' app can't play them all. Maybe HTC should use ffmpeg like rockplayer.. then it might just work
I spend many hours trying to figure this out , all but streaming video don't work ..any suggestions ?
Me too, but if only

Me too, but if only there was a way of making vplayer (since that plays everything so far) the default player when a video is clicked on from the connected media view
Same problem here.
1. Connected Home on Samsung Omnia 2(Win6.1/6.5) works
2. Doest work on Samsumg Galaxy Tab (froyo 2.2)
3. Doesnt work on Desire HD (pic, music, video)
So can I assume its something to do with Android?
same problems here with the HTC Media Link. far too many video files play ok on my htc desire from win7 pc using Skifta.
i've been attempting to find successful filetype/bitrate settings through freemake video converter (which allows hard-coding of subtitles) with little success when pushing to the media link.
Q. does anyone know a guaranteed filetype, bitrate, size which works through media link?
Q. are there any XDA devs working on a rom to fix this thing? excellent hardware in need of a little homebrew tweak if ever there was
It works fine on my DHD with Sabsa Prime V16 no issues at all. (Audio /Video/ Photos)

Streaming Video/Audio Sync Issue

I have a stock HTC Wildfire S that got the ota update to 2.35 er so. Before and after the update I am experiencing Streaming Video/Audio Sync Issues when trying to play video through my browser and the Netflix app. The audio rolls along with no hinderance or interference while the video stops, jumps, glithches or just plays but way out of sync with the audio. I have tryed several different websites to no avail. The craziest thing is, through the Youtube app, all videos play crisp and with no flaws. This is all being done over WiFi and has been tested on several different WiFi connections. On a side note, formated videos that are on my SD card also have no issues. I have the version of flash player for my version of android installed and 30-40mb of open internal storage.
Any idea would help, ty.
Same here. I wonder if overclocking is needed to get Netflix to play decently over WiFi.
Nick
Same here, I 'm even trying to get Skype to work. My wives LG Optimus Elite can stream Skype and Netflix video just fine even over a good 3G signal.
Yet on the Wildfire just trying to do audio with Skype wont even work on WiFi.
I am regretting this phone more and more.

[Q] Anyone have any success with hiding your root so you can watch google movies?

Hi everyone - I just replaced my rooted nook color with a shiny new A100, and am pretty pleased, even with the A100's moderate limitations. The only thing I'm unsure of is whether or not I should root my A100.
I really, really want to root it and get rid of some of the bloat, and get some of my apps onto it, (titanium for example) but I really want to be able to use it in-flight to watch movies. I haven't had ANY luck ripping movies for use on my nook, or on either of my rooted Android phones. I've tried Handbrake and a number of others, most of which I've found recommended on XDA, but no luck so far - I have no trouble getting good quality video, but the audio is always so out of sync as to render everything unwatchable.
I've got a rooted HTC Desire and a Droid 3, and my nook color, but have never found an app that successfully hides root from google movies.
Is anyone having any success using a rooted A100 to watch google movies? What method are you using to hide your root?
Alternatively, is anyone having consistent success with any particular program for ripping movies for use on their A100?
The nook color is horribly underpowered for watching movies, I had one too, same problem. The a100 doesn't have this problem and frankly any movie should play fine.
Try dice player, mxplayer and mobo players, in no real order, all 3 play HD video well, and the first two I know do subtitles.
Hiding root, not sure. I think supersu can do it, not sure about su.

Unfortunately, my failure wasn't limited to my nook; 90% of the movies I've ripped have had sync problems, even when played back on another computer, my Zune, my husband's iphone, or either of my two rooted phones.
I've tried ripping on a few different computers, too, hoping that the problem was my hardware, but even my newest computer, which I built with love and expensive parts, doesn't seem to make movies rip any better. The frustrating thing is that I'm such a rule-follower, I hate having to break DRM at all - I'd be happy to pay for movies that just WORK, without a whole lot of effing around!
Still, I'll try dice and mxplayer - I haven't given those a shot yet! Thanks!

I've noticed sometimes if audio is out of sync, or starts to go out of sync hitting software or software fast then going back will put it back in sync. This is in mxplayer though dice should also do it. Something to try. Dice will generally force hw mode so switching from whatever to another and back works for me.

[Q] DLNA video stopped working - Help please

Can anyone please help me? I can't seem to find this issue anywhere else.
I work in video content creation, and rely heavily on the use of DLNA to push videos to devices from my HTC oneX. Since updating to jb this feature has stopped working on all external devices, with all video codecs and file types.
I use the sense Gallery; I hit More> Select Player> and then select. Since updating the video control screen comes up as normal, but reads 'Stopped' instead of 'buffering' or 'playing' and nothing happens on the external player. These are the exact same files that I used to play with no problems before updating.
I have also tried using other DLNA apps from Play store, but none work.
Having read everything I can find on the problem, and tried everything I can think of with no results, I just tried a full hard reset. However the problem remains the same.
HTC one X
Android 4.1.1
Sense 4.1
The players are a number of different DLNA TVs and computers.
The file types are usually .mp4 or .avi but it is the same with any video file. Photos and Music still play on DLNA devices with no problems.
Other info:
I have always noticed the same outcome with video files that I opened with a 3rd party File App, such as ES File Explorer. Previously, though, DLNA has always worked when opened with the native Gallery. (Sure DLNA is glitchy and cuts out every now and then, but on the whole it works if you fiddle about with things.)
I have noticed that a number of items come up on the Task Manager list when I try to push content. It seems to me that some of these might double up and cause issues?... But I have no idea about all that developer stuff. Task Manager:
-Gallery
-HtcDLNAMiddleLayer
-DLNAMiddleLayer
-Select Player
-View Video
(Sometimes there seems to be a 2nd Gallery launched there as well.)
Can anyone help me? Has anyone had the same?
This is frustrating because it used to work so well and suddenly stopped.
Thanks
Jonathan

[Q] Netflix audio/video sync issue

Anyone having problems with audio/video on Netflix being out of sync on the note 10.1 2014?? I can play the same movie on my old Asus TF201 tablet and it plays perfect.
BTW I installed only about 10 apps on the thing and did not attempt to root or even change skins etc yet.
Any solutions/ideas. Your help is much appreciated.
