Wifi Tether TrevE Mod figured out - Sprint LG Optimus G

:victory:Hi community,
After some trial and errors I finally figured out how to get Wifi-Tether from TrevE Mod working on my LGOG.
Download apk: http://www.4shared.com/mobile/1NM4caOi/WifiTether_TrevE_Mod_11_22_201.html
Settings:
Device Profile: Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE)
Setup Method: Netd (master)
Enable Wifi-Encription (Checked)
Wifi-Driver Reload 2 (Checked)
MSS Clamping (Checked)
Routing Fix (Checked)
Disable Wake-Lock (Checked)
Feel free to contact me if it doesn't work for your LGOG, I can help you further.
Thank you and enjoy.
God Bless you all, be safe.
Miguel Berrios

I noticed on mines that when I stop using it for sometime it stops working. All I do to get it back is change the Wifi Driver Reload back and forth between 1 and 2. Hope this is useful to you guys.
Enjoy.

I have my OG flashed to Boost and haven't added money in a few days because I couldn't download torrents but I will put some money on it to try it out...Have you tried to download "torrents" while tethered to your computer yet?

Yes I have. I am currently using tTorrent. It has its own built in search engine. Free at play store.

I've tried this method using CM11 and it does not work. Might just be rom specific.

Doesn't work for me on stock..

Miguel and all who wish to chime in,
My Sprint LG-LS970 was rooted using Framaroot. I've downloaded the TreveE Mod you listed in your original post and have set up the settings as you have listed in that post as well. WiFi tether startsc with no errors but the SSID name doesn't show up in any of the wifi connections list on my PC or tablet. I suspect that the stock ZVC rom is the problem. I'm also running JB v. 4.1.2.
Would any one be so kind as to let me know what rom will allow wifi tethering to work on my phone?. I've also tried "WifiThether v 3.3-pre2.apk with the same results using the settings:
Device - Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup-Method: Netd-Ndc (master)
WiFI-Driver reload 2 checked
MSS clamping checked
Routing Fix checked
Thanks,
Seth G

So I'm all excited I was able to root my LG Optimus G (Sprint edition). Had similar problems as others with the WiFi tethering until I made the helpful suggestions made previously (thank you Barshalen). The strange thing here is whenever I try to connect my laptop to the phone's WiFi hotspot, within seconds my laptop presents the good ol' BSOD. Never had anything like this happen before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

I've got the at&t version and I'm seeing this as well. I can get a working hotspot with the SGSIII, generic and generic ICS/JB profiles, but with each one my wifi is horked after I stop wifi-tether. I can't use wifi as a client, and a second run of wifi-tether fails. A reboot clears the problem and I can both use wifi and wifi-tether again.
I'm hoping that there is either an update to wifi-tether or some profile that fixes this...

Wifi Tether not working.
3.3-beta2-06102013***Synergized***
The Wifi app will start with SU permissions. I have the settings set to the before mentioned advisement, however the wifi will not work i.e. it is not visible at all to any computer. When I am near another wireless network the wifi tether app will abruptly stop and give me an error that says "WTH your phone takes back over the wifi-interface" then the app shuts down.
Can anyone help with this issue, is there a resolution for the problem?
Is anyone else seeing the same thing?
I may be experiencing 2 seperate problems, meaning 1. the network is not seen and 2. the app stops from the wifi-interface taking control.

i do have the unlimited data unlimited everything plan... also is there a guide or vid tuturial if at worst case scenerio to change my pc/browser to make it look to be coming from my mobile?
if you use chrome, like i do, there are a few extensions out there that would change the browser to an android view by using an android as the UserAgent tag.
I had my user agent changed in chrome and was using the agent for android 4.1 with the desktop web page request. That was fine until a week ago and then I started getting redirects from tmobile. Now I can only use regular android 4.1 which only gives you the mobile pages. This is a real drag on a laptop.

are these settings working for everyone? I used wifi tether 3.3 pre 2 version. My friend and I both have the note 2 but I used ics/jb wlan0 setting and wifi driver reload 1 settings. mine tethers fine. had it working with my sons new nabi 2 tablet last night. My friend however couldn't get it to work until he switched profile to galaxy s3 like below but that didn't work for me when I selected that profile.

It works for me but I still get the T-mobile upsell webpage. This is the only con to owning the T-mobile note 2 in my opinion. Almost switched to Sprint because this app works for their note 2 but I cant stand how slow their data is.

another workarounds for the upsell page:
1.use ubuntu on desktop(this is my method)
2.use vpn on windows (most of them are paid)
3.user agent change on windows
now if you want to watch netflix on tmobile unlimited internet from a desktop that is only possible with us vpn.

What did you mean by (Check Wifi Driver Reload 2) or was the (2) a typo?
And wasn't Routing fix steady checked? Cause it was for me. I'm using the jellybeer Tom and can't get it working
EDIT: I didn't relize I had version from 11/18
So I dl 11/22 version and (Check wifi driver reload 2) didn't work for me so I unchecked it, then checked the one above
Then worked perfect!
Winning!
This works with openvpn too
I connect to my openvpn connection then start the wifi tether with this mod. It works great and they can't snoop into my packets. Tethering to desktop pc, android tablet, iphone, everything else. It works great. No message or upsell page ever.

Try this:
device profile = generic ics/jb (wlan0)
setup method = netd-ndc (master)
wifi driver reload = checked
enable wifi encryption = unchecked (you can enable it later when it's working unencrypted)
enable access-control = unchecked (you can enable it later when the basics are working)
Now, when I first started with this app, my devices would connect to the AP but then give up because they couldn't get a dhcp address. I found that if I went into the 'change lan' menu and picked a different lan, that it started working (I currently use 10.10.3.0/24).
If you can't get it working, I came up with another method you may be able to use that does not use any app (I have the at&t model but it's probably the same). Basically you turn off wifi, then run a few commands (as root) that bring the wifi interface back up without disabling mobile data. It will connect to your local wireless lan as if you had enabled wifi. Then you can run a socks or http proxy and point your other device at it (easy if you're wanting to tether a pc, maybe not so easy if you're using something else). I haven't tried yet to see if it will route between the networks, which would mean you can just manually change your default gateway to your phone's wlan address and have all traffic go through it.

But after I turn it off and then turn it on, tethering works, but I get the message that it started with errrors. WORKING WiFi Tether??

Is there actually a Wi-Fi tether app that works for our phone? I've tried Wi-Fi tether from the market, and other devices will connect to my SSID and "tether", but it will basically be a worthless connection because I won't be able to surf at all from the tethered connection.
I'm trying to connect my Nexus 10 tablet since I get great LTE signal here in Dallas where I live, but I can't make full use of it since no tether app works properly with our phone...any help is appreciated!!

Here's the settings I used to make Wifi tether from the Playstore to work. Remeber either WIFI or the Wifi tether per reboot.
1.Change device profile to - Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
2.Setup method - Auto
3.Enable wifi-encryption
4. I changed SSID and my Passphrase
That's it. It's worked for stock JB and Imperium. Haven't tried it on Lifeless yet.

Is whatever you're trying to tether set to auto? Also, Wi-Fi cannot turn on at all after a reboot if you're on zvb. Try it on other things also to see if its the app, or whatever you're trying to tether.
Edit. Try going to settings, enable access control.

When I had this problem (at&t model but probably the same issue), I had to select a different lan in the wifi tether settings. Either the arp cache on the tethered device still had old entries (since the default network is the same as my wireless network that my device had just been connected to), or it's just that wifi tether applies the wrong netmask. Right now I'm using the setting "10.10.3.0/24" which works, but in reality it's assigning a 255.0.0.0 (/8) netmask to the interface!
