So I made a super amateur mistake and flashed the kitkat lean kernel over cayanogenMod 10 on 4.3 and now my phone won't boot. Is there anyway to fix this? Flash stock firmware with odin perhaps? Where can I download the stock 4.3? Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. I'm desperate. Please help.
It shouldn't be that big of a deal. If you made a nandroid, restore your system data and you will be back up and running. If not, grab a micro SD card and put a 4.3 kernel on our. Alternatively; put gapps and the cm build you are running on the card. Flash whatever option you choose and you're fixed.

If you still have the rom and gapps on your sdcard that you are running you can reboot to recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash the rom and gapps. This would load the kernel that comes with the rom without killing your data.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I do still have the rom and gapps on the phone but the problem is it's a hardbrick. The screen won't even turn on, so I can't get into recovery to re-flash. Is there any hope, or is the phone done for?

If you cannot get into recovery (volume up, home button, power button), can you get into download mode (volume down, home, power). If so you may be able to solve yourself. If you have a micro usb jib or can build one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707) it may get you into download mode as well.
Another issue will be if you have an AT&T and had taken the 4.3OTA update which updated your boot loaders to MJB, there is no odin recovery file for it. If you were still on the older boot loaders you would be able to use the stock images through odin which can be found on xda or sammobile.
If download mode does not work you could try contacting mobiletechvideos.com and discuss with them if they can recover it.

so i decided the odin, to get back to stock so i can flash MIUI, coming from Frosty Jb, and Ktoonzer kernal. i used boot-insecure-tmo-t999uvalem-cwm to on ODIN, the phone rebooted, and then a blue LED started Flashing. it vibrated and kept rebooting. i took out battery, and goutt into Cwm, then wanted to flash MIUI, but it failed because of Build.prop, so i went back into download and flashed boot-insecure-tmo-t999uvalem-cwm again. now it wont boot, and let me get into Download mode or Cwm
Edit: im can get back into and CWM now, but not Download mode. it needed to run though one cycle of bootlooping before it let me in. So now im back on the Frosty jb, And i feel like my phone wont let me Flash anything else.
What happens when you try to go into download mode from Frostys reboot menu?
Maybe flash the UVALH2 deodexed stock rom and try odin again.
But use either the regular fw from sammobile or root66 from MrRobinson.
Where did you get the fw you've been trying to flash?

Is this just a kernel? You had said you were trying to odin back to stock, but this looks to be a cwm flashable file which I doubt is gonna work in odin.

A similar thing happened toe when I tried going to stock from JB. Try ODIN back to stock using mrRobinsons file. Then boot into the recovery and do a factory reset. Note that this will probably wipe your internal storage

I've never seen Odin wipe internal or external SD cards. As far as I know, it doesn't even have this capability, which is a good thing.
So i got back into Stock. i Rerooted and everything, i downloading Goomanager and the CodenameAndroid ROM From there. i installed the twcr recovery from goomanager. Then i flashed the CodenameAndroid. it has a boot animation but not booting, i cant get into Cwm or Download mode. it goes into Download mode for 2 seconds virbates and roots. Any Idea??

It wasnt ODIN that wiped my storage. It was running the factory reset from the Samsung 3e Recovery (which I got after I used ODIN to go back to stock)

Getting into recovery can be tricky as there's a short window where you have to release the buttons. The most successful way for me is, with the phone off, hold home+power+vol up. When you see the Samsung logo, look at the top of the screen for a line of blue text. If you see this line, immiediately let go of all buttons.
Another option (might be a longshot) would be to try using ADB during the CodenameAndroid (CNA) boot animation. Search for ADB standalone to get the files you need. While your phone is on the CNA bootscreen, plug it intop your computer and try running "adb devices" from the command line (you'll need to be in the same folder as the ADB executable). If you see a serial number, then try running "adb reboot recovery" which should get you into recovery mode

Did you make a Nandroid (Backup) of your ROMS? Always make a Backup before flashing anything on your phone. If the solutions the users have posted doesn't work, then USB JIG can be used as a last resort. I would also like to let you know some kernels corresponds to some ROMS. For an example, Frosty is based on TW (Touch Wiz) and can only be flashed with kernels that supports Touch Wiz. Flashing Ktoonzer kernel with, for an example, CM10 would only result in the phone not being able to boot due to CM10 ROM not supporting Touch Wiz. Make sure you flash a kernel that supports the ROM and before any flashing, make a backup via recovery.
Hey guys,
So I've been trying to get back to a stock rom because I am trying to sell my phone now, but everytime I flash a firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687 using Odin, it gets stuck at boot screen no matter which one i flash even if it's pre-rooted or not. So is there any other way to flash stock rom without Odin or is there something I am doing wrong that is getting me stuck on this boot screen?
Thanks.

Before you tried using Odin to flash the stock or stock rooted firmware which
custom rom did you flash, and was the custom rom you flashed working properly
before you tried to flash back to stock or stock rooted?
Okay well after flashing this over so many times, the stock rom finally went through. Not sure what was holding it up, but no need to help anymore guys. Thanks.

Go to stock recovery by pressing volume up and power until it says booting recovery in blue letters at the top of the screen.
Wipe cache, then wipe/format data 3x or 4x and then try reflashing the stock rom.
Stock Rom provided by Jamison Download Here
Odin zip with All Versions provided by Jamison Download Here
Thank you Jamison and thank you to the one who said to wipe data/format, that was the right answer!!!
You are supposed to do it before you flash using Odin, DOH! :silly:
How long did the first boot take because ive done wipe data and stuff before and after and still stuck on logo screen
Booting can take up to 15 minutes after wiping data and cache.
If the phone still won't boot to the ROM, flash a stock ROM via Odin and perform a factory wipe using stock recovery before booting the ROM for the firs time.

Flash ROM
Flash gapps

Wipe dalvik cache
Reboot device
↑if that fails, get to a computer and download another ROM, place it on the SD card, pull the battery out of your phone and insert the SD card. Put the battery back into the phone and boot into recovery and try the steps above, but instead try flashing the new ROM and only flash the gapps if needed (usually stated in the op of the ROMs thread).

If you are not sure what happened and why it happened and just want to fix the phone so it boots normally into
the stock-rooted Samsung Jellybean v4.1.1 rom so you can start over again or if you decided that Liquidsmooth
is not for you then here is the step by step guide to get your phone working again.
After getting the phone working properly, I suggest that you flash the Wicked v10 custom rom. (it's excellent)
P.S. there is no OFFICIAL Samsung v4.2.2 roms for out phones yet, the liquidsmooth is the official CM10/AOKP Android rom.
Easy and sure way to to get your phone back up and running properly with this step by step guide:
After you have followed these instructions your phone will be in the same condition
as it was the day you have purchased it except with the benefit of being rooted.
Download the stock-rooted T999 firmware: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451
After downloading it make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Here is a link for ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app) http://d-h.st/Q14
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file.
Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
(It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
Good Luck!
Hello.
I have Galaxy S3 model t-999(T-Mobile) and after installing ROM(CM 10.1 4.2.2) and G-apps I got the problem with "Setup Wizard has stopped".
apparently the version of th G-apps was for 4.2.1 but beacuse my PC doesn't recognize my Galaxy S3 I could not switch the G-apps to the G-apps with the right version( I have tried a lot of times to fix it with some methods but still doesn't work ).
After that, I somehow got into recovery mode, wiped factory data, partition cache and dalvik cache.
That also didn't work, and the problem with "Setup Wizard" continued..
I was desperate and probably formatted all the system data and a few more things there(Man, i am stupid..).
So now, recovery mode won't work, the device won't be activated at all and the PC as I said before, won't recognize it.
I am pretty sure that after i deleted everything(probably) there is no solution.
So if there is a any chance to fix it(even if the chances of success are slim) I will be glad to hear it .
Thank you very much.

Well, theres two ways this can work for you. You need Odin and a copy of the stock firmware. Instead of going directly into recovery you need to get to download mode. Vol-down and home key along with power button. Once booted, press the vol-up key to get to download mode. This should work regardless if you have a custom cwm or twrp recovery or not. Once you get that far, you need to download the Sammy usb drivers for your computer to recognize the phone. Open Odin and flash the stock recovery, make sure you have the f.reset and reboot checked, flash the stock recovery through pda in Odin. Wait about 8 mins, and let it do its thing, the reroot after your recovery is redone, flash your Rom you want, wipe data, dalvick, cache. Flash your gapps (correct version) then reboot= win.

If you can see the Cyanogen Android then your phone is NOT bricked, you just need to get it into download mode.
Remove the battery for a few seconds and replace it, then press the HOME+VOLUME DOWN+POWER BUTTONS all
at the same time for a few seconds and your phone should go into the download mode screen.
In download mode you can Odin flash either the stock T999 Samsung Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware (rom).
OR you can Odin flash the stock-rooted T999 Samsung Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware (rom).

Also, try every usb port on your PC. Youd be surprised how often only one of tge ports works for this.

Early this morning I decided to try to get root and flash a custom rom, either CyanogenMod or Omni. I was able to flash touch recovery and wiped system files and cache. All custom firmwares failed to load. Now when the phone boots up, it goes into OTA activation, activates, does a PRL update, and reboots. Touch recovery repeats the system restore, unattended, and the loop repeats infinitely.
I am looking for a process that will help me cure the reboot loop to let me return to using the stock 4.3, but because of some bugginess I was experiencing, I would prefer a method that rids the knox bootloader and other protections so that I can gain root access and load custom firmwares.
I found a similar thread for a different model number, but I'm sure I'll need specific instructions for this model. Any help is greatly appreciated, as I'd rather not have to figure out a way to destroy the phone to get an insurance replacement. I'm also 23 days away from my upgrade date.
I am offering a $50 bounty for now, and when I upgrade, if possible to retain my phone while getting the upgrade price, you can have the note 2 that you helped fix.

I am offering a $50 bounty for now, and when I upgrade, if possible to retain my phone while getting the upgrade price, you can have the note 2 that you helped fix.

Try this
Flash twrp recovery zip
Custom wipe system, data, cache
Install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36388145
Install the root zip located in that op
Do not wipe anything else
Reboot it should act weird then reboot
After about 5-10 mins it will finish booting
Now flash philz 6.07.9 recovery via odin
Then boot into recovery factory reset/clean for new rom
Under mounts format data/media (internal sd)
Reboot into recovery
Flash your 4.4 rom

Yeah, I wiped everything when I got home from work (don't know what I was thinking, really). TWRP even warned me no OS was installed, and I was like "so?". Anyway, as soon as it got stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note II screen, I started the download of that rom you linked to. Still has 10 minutes left (big file is big). I'll come back with an update once I complete these first set of steps.

ADB Sideload
Since the device is not bootable, and I don't have an adapter to copy to my SD card via a usb reader, I struggled, but got the ADB Sideload function of the Android Development Toolkit to work once I upgrade to Team Win Recovery 2.7.0.0 via ODIN.
sideload log is as follows:
Code:
Updating partition details...
Full SELinux support is present.
Starting ADB sideload feature...
Installing '/data/media/0/sideload.zip'...
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.
UnRooted MC2 Stock Restore by blizzard412
Formatting /system and installing..
This will take a while
...Flashing temp special recovery
...Again just in case
Installing Radio...
Flashing firmware...
Flashing garwrnn & -EViL-KoNCEPTz- carrier partition fix...
You will automatically reboot to twrp to finish up...

Should I be worried about the preload error?
Edit: rebooted but currently in a reboot loop without the startup sound. I'm going to let this go for about 10 minutes before I try to wipe and re-sideload? Before TouchWin rebooted it asked me if I wanted to install SU-SuperUser for root. Should I not install the root at this time?
Edit 2 THANK YOU!

I could not get this to flash via ODIN. The stock recovery kept loading instead
Decided to just try and move down the list.
Then boot into recovery factory reset/clean for new rom
Under mounts format data/media (internal sd)

Phone is now out of reboot loop once I cleared the data and cache. Text messages immediately came in after OTA activation and PRL update. I am now running stock rooted 4.1.2 without KNOX.
Reboot into recovery
Flash your 4.4 rom

Might wait on that for a minute. So thankful to at least have a working device again. Thanks for your help. Would you like the bounty? Please PM me a paypal address or your preferred methods.
The preload error is normal with twrp and is not an issue. Now you have lots going on so let me ask you this. Do you have a custom recovery and/or root as of now?

Yes, I had a rooted stock rom, replied to my texts from the day, then loaded rom manager, installed clockwork recovery. downloaded omni directly to the phone from their website, rebooted into clockwork, flashed, and things were fine. Booted into rooted kitkat 4.4.2, and now I'm flashin the gapps update to enable google services. network and wifi working fine under omni.
Can't thank you enough for helping me out of that hole from earlier.
In case you dont know omni rom does not come rooted.

Yep, I flashed SuperSU in CWM and fixed that. Things are running great. Just need to see what the battery life is like now on a new rom.
