For awhile, whenever I would touch the contact picture while editing a contact, my phone would let me choose which program I used to browse for the picture. I have somehow made gallery the default app for this. I hate this because I prefer to use ES File Explorer. I have tried clearing the default app option in both ES File Explorer, Gallery, and contacts. No dice.
Any Suggestions?

I reads your note and understand you said you tried, but maybe not like this:
try going to settings/More/Application manager
select ALL on the separator line and scroll down to Gallery
Tap on Gallery and go down to the clear cache. Tap on that.
Than go lower to the Launch by default and tap on clear defaults.
reboot and see if it works.
if it still won't, the next thing to do is a factory reset. It's really not all that bad to do.....
Aloha and good luck!
Tried that again with the reboot, but no change. I did just get this phone, so a factory reset wouldn't be very painful, but I'm not sure I'm Annoyed with the problem enough to go to that length.

Are you on 4.2.2 or 4.3? If on 4.3, long press Home button to open, then choose the Recent app button (bottom left), then look for the Clear Defaults tab. Should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

Hey,
I got a problem with my HTC Tocuh Pro 2.
Today i was checking some things with the internet explorer.
After that, i had to use the file explorer to search some files and saw that my fileexplorer had "changed":
Normally, all text elements at the dropdown menu were the same size, but now the upper ones are in a bigger font size, like here:
http://www.worldofppc.com/HWTests/Pics/TF3D/expl.jpg
http://www.pocketpc.ch/attachments/...-bei-windows-mobile-die-registry-screen06.png
(Screenshots are not from my device!)
Same problem in "Pictures and Videos".
First i thought it maybe was because of some problem with the zoombar while using internet explorer and checked the system fontsize, but this was like before.
I tried to restart my device; nothing changed.
I tried a soft-reset, no change again...
Before i try a hard-reset, is there someone that knows this problem or has an idea how to get rid of it?
Would be great!
Update:
If i connect my TouchPro2 with my PC and go to the File Explorer or "Pictures and Videos" the Dropdown Menu looks like the popup menu from HTC.
I mean this menu: http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/media/tracyandmatts_blog/windowslivewriter/touchpro2advancedtweaking_f22a/ac-menu_2.jpg
But its up where the dropdown should be and cutted at the upper side.
Strange
No Idea how i can fix this?
For file explorer popup menu, it was set to big as default for finger friendly.
But u can change it to make it same size. I'm not sure u want big or small but below reg keys will make ur popup font same size (small) one.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu\PopFnt]
"Ht"=dword:320
320 in HEXadecimal
800 in DECimal
U can use total commander or any registry editor to change this key.
The problem isnt with the popup menu, like you can see at the pictures it's with the "navigation tree".
But i tried this and it didnt help.

Isn't it like that 'by design'? I thought that was an improvement to File Explorer brought about in WM6.1.
@=Crux=
Now i become more confused with your problem.
This is what it should (normally) be :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Screenshot no.3 is when i press right soft menu key in Pictures & Videos.
So what u want to do with it now? Can u post sreenshots like mine?
Sry for my bad englisch
I've tried a hardreset today, but the problem is still there.
My dropdown menu is'nt like the one on your first zwo screenshots, it's like this:
http://www.worldofppc.com/HWTests/Pics/TF3D/expl.jpg
The navigationtree is in a bigger font, but the last entry (storagecard/my device) is in normal font size.
Forget about what i said about the popup menu, i just meant that the navigation tree looks like the popup menu when my TP2 is connected to my computer.
I will never use the Messages app to send a picture (yes, never. I don't have an SMS plan) so I'd like to be able to remove it from the sharing list from the Gallery. Is there any way to choose which apps show up in that sharing list?
Thanks.

Only by removing the apps. You could go into the Messaging App Info page, and Disable it. As a warning, though, Messaging is one of the core OS apps, and disabling it could possibly cause instability. I've never had any reason to try it, but just keep it in mind in case you have issues; you can always re-enable it.

Any idea if this is the kind of thing a custom ROM could enable: choosing which apps show up in the menu?

Anything's possible; that could certainly happen. I don't see it as being a very widely anticipated feature, though. Just out of curiosity, I'm not sure if you noticed, but after you've used the sharing menu a few times, it shows only your top 3 apps (technically 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) that you've used for sharing, and then a "See All..." button below it. Also, your foremost sharing app will show up as an icon to the right of the sharing icon. Example below, with imgur, Messaging, Kik, and Gmail.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

Just use Quickpic is is really good. I use it as my main gallery. Also has the option to hide stuff.
Thanks for the ideas.
Hello everyone, I tried the search button in these forums and the Google but I can't find an answer.
My friend sent me a movie file (.mov) from his iPhone. First I can't even download the file. In the Gmail application, the file appear as an attachment with no buttons. No save, play or preview button? Is this normal?
I know there is an application called "download all" to download the attachment. Is this the right move to do?
Also, after the download (if it succeeded) what is the best player to play this? Is it 'Mobo player" or "VLC player" or anything else?
Off note: My friend (another one) has a Nexus S with ICS and in the mail attachment he has "Save" button. Is this an ICS thing?
Thanks in advance...
Check your Gmail to see a paperclip icon. If you have it, then you will get the option to download the file. If you don't see the paperclip icon then no attachment was sent.
The .mov file can be played with moboplayer or mx video player. You will have to browse for the .mov file with "ES file explorer" or browse for it directly from within the video player app (mobo or mx).
I have the clip icon, but no option to download, save, preview out play...

It looks like you have the "conversation view" on in your gmail account. Click on the heading (next to the sender) that have the file you want and it should expand it.
To make it easier you can turn off the "conversation view" in your gmail account using your pc or the web browser of your Galaxy S2. Just Open Gmail, top right corner is a "cog wheel", hit it and go to mail settings, scroll down to "conversation view" and disable it, then save. Then just go back to your smartphone and try again.
I pressed "Show details" and it only shows the full email addresses of all the parties.
Not show details, click on name.
Or to make it easier you can use the "email" (not gmail) app. Just enter your email and password and you are good to go.
EDIT: Er nevermind the "email" app. There seems to be a file size limit, so may not work with big video file.
I installed mobo player pro and the problem is fixed if I use the internet version (gmail.com). It downloads the file and then plays it. Still, the file attached doesn't show a save or preview in the gmail application...

Hi Good people,
I wan wondering whether I can get the stock or blacked out (preferred) of the JB SMS Theme instead of the touchwiz so I can flash.
I'm using the DLI1 modem.
If you'ved seen one, please point me to that direction.
Any help is appreciated.
Then you need to download aosp sms app because samsungs sms app is not just themed, it's different app than aosp's one.
Edit: i don't know if it works but you can try grab sms app from cm10 and put it in /system/app, set permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot.
Edit2: there are many themes which modifies samsung sms app also, see my sms app pic below (themed with alexandertheme v1):
{

And you can choose background yourself to conversation page via sms settings.

Thanks.
I'ved tried this one but when reading or composing SMSes, it reverts back to touchwiz which is my opinion one of the worst looking SMS theme ever...

But you can change background of read/compose page yourself, just press menu button in sms app, and then settings -> background style, there is few backgrounds already and you can choose own bg by pressing that square on bottom-left corner, when you selected background, just hit save button on top-right corner.
I recently debloated my new OnePlus 9 Pro. Everything seems to work fine (I did make sure to install replacement apps beforehand). However, today when I wanted to change the wallpaper (with a different "custom" photo), I noticed I can't do this any longer. Tapping on "album" (which is supposed to open a file picker where you browse to find a photo you want to use as a wallpaper) doesn't do anything:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

If I tap on the second icon shown above (Inventive wallpapers), it still works and opens to this, as usual:
Here if I tap the second icon at the bottom, it will open the gallery app (I use the one from Simple Mobile Tools), where I can pick the photo. (However, I don't really want an "inventive" wallpaper.)
I suppose this second one uses the correct function to call whatever gallery app is set up as the default. And the first one probably wants something else - I suppose either stock Google Photos or Files apps, which I removed. Any idea how to solve this without having to install those two back?
Found the culprit: While de-bloating, I also removed com.oneplus.gallery which is the stock OnePlus Photos (because I figured Simple Gallery Pro from Simple Mobile Tools would replace the need for that as well).
So my assumption was right - the first icon calls directly this stock app, whereas the icon on the second screen finds the one gallery which is installed, or offers the choice to pick one, in case there are more installed.
