[Q] device don't go in to deep sleep after using bluetooth - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have read allot about problems relating to deep sleep, but failed to find a solution.
my device wont go to deep sleep after I am using my Bluetooth headset, for example, in the morning while i'm at home everything is ok and then I turn my headset on, drive to work, and turn the headset off. the device fails to deep sleep from the moment I turn the headset on and it keep even after I turn the headset off.
i see in betterbetterystats that the "suspend_backoff" is keeping the device on.
I don't have allot of knowledge about kernels and wakelock so I need help finding the solution.
if needed I can provide log files from betterbetterystats and wakelock doctor.
current ROM: KitKatComet / Halley (v1.0)
kernel: the one provided with ROM
the problem is on all ROMs since 4.3 and up...
THANK YOU

Known issue on JB and above ROMs, no fix has been found so far.

[Q] Latest test kernels a no go on my HP2 :(

I was very pleased to here that we were getting the bottom light to work properly along with fast sleeps/wakes. Over the last few days I have tried kernels 1293, 1297 & 1300. All goes well until the promised deep sleep arrives. The issue on the initial kernels was adjusted such that after some effort it does wake, but is so sluggish that it is useless. I have the luxury of having a charger for my phone at home, in the car and at work, so the battery usage isn't the major issue for me so I figured that I would leave some items running in the background so that I never hit the deep sleep. Unfortunately, the deep sleep seems to be resistant to my efforts. I leave on my wifi, gps, background data and auto-sync yet I still achieve deep sleep. It even occurred while on the charger. Is there something else I can try to keep from hitting deep sleep short of running a serious app constantly? For now I went back to the 1276 committed kernel and will just deal with the no bottom lights and landscape start-up issues. I still achieve deep sleep with the afore-mentioned settings "off" and it wakes with pep in its step.
Mostly running Froyo X Ginger, but it is also duplicated while running FRX06. Even with these minor inconveniences android is my main OS on my Sprint TP2 - Rhodium 400. Thx to all the devs for the awesome work. You've made me love my phone again!!

[Q] Deep Sleep with Bluetooth CM 7.2 and 9

Hello,
Long time reader, first time poster.
I have an issue where my phone won't deep sleep with Bluetooth on.
I tested these roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633198
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226765
It works ok with the standard rom and the some customer roms based on it.
I notice both threads mention that this was a known issue, but its fixed, so I don't know what I should do and can't post there yet.
Should I follow the bug process?
Thanks Marc
You can use the bugtracker in this case,I just used CPU spy to look this up.....and yes, deep sleep isnt working with bluetooth on
Ok, thanks.
Will you post in the thread also to see if its common? I don't have the "driving license" yet, so to speak.
I have retested CM9 Alpha 1 and 2 and my phone refuses to deep sleep if I have Bluetooth on. I can see in CPU Spy straight away it uses Deep Sleep once I turn it off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633204&page=3
How come it doesn't work for me? Is there a way of checking the settings have been applied?
I guess this could explain it.
http://code.google.com/p/cm9-wildfire-s/issues/detail?id=3
Any other ideas or how I would troubleshoot this?
Just done a recovery, cleaned cache and dalvik and then installed Alpha 3.
Still no deep sleep with Bluetooth.

Galaxy Nexus BTLowPower keeps running when bluetooth is off

Hello,
I’m looking for help with a rather strange problem. I’m getting a lot of awake time in Android OS. I installed BetterBatteryStats and noticed it was the service BTLowPower that was doing a lot of kernel wakelocks.
I turned bluetooth off a couple of days (and have rebooted in the meantime even) but still the top service in kernel wakelocks is BTLowPower by a very large margin ... how can this be if bluetooth is turned off ?
Stats are in BetterBatteryStats Kernel Wakelocks
Unplugged 12h47min.
BTLowPower 9h33min, 74.7%
I've attached a screenshot
I have a Galaxy Nexus which is running stock Jellybean.
Thanks in advance for any advice !
Same here.

Do you guys have other Bluetooth devices around? I have a Motorola S805 headset as well as a cheapo BT2.0 dongle from DealExtreme.
I typically don't have the headset turned on unless it's connected to the computer, but what I'm finding is that if I just leave my phone with the dongle turned off and the headset turned off then I don't get the BTLowPower battery drain.
If I turn the dongle on, and turn on the headset then I typically get the BTLowPower battery drain in my GNex. I have to reboot the phone for it to go away. I'm not really sure the exact sequence of events to cause the drain to occur, but I feel like it's definitely related to turning on and off my S805 headset or being around the dongle.
There might be other bluetooth devices around (such as phones of a colleague or something), however the bluetooth on my phone is turned OFF and I still keep getting the BTLowPower in kernel wakelocks Today for example it kept my phone awake for over 10 hours
Anyone ? I keep having this problem ...
Same problem here. BTLowPower keeps draining my battery.
I have bluetooth and Jabra headset off...
It usually happends when I unplug my GNex from charging.
Please help....

sorry for my bad english.
Same issue
I'm running a Toro Gnex with the Vanir AOSP ROM. It's buttery smooth, and I've had no problems at all, other than this specific kernel wakelock. Same scenario as the OP.
If anyone finds out more about it, I would be grateful!

I've been reading about this all morning. I run Automateit Pro and have it go into airplane mode at night. After losing 25% battery overnight, the investigation began. BTlowpower was keeping the phone awake. It looks like airplane mode can be the culprit, possibly in combination with Wifi set to always on. I am set up to turn Bluetooth off a couple of minutes after going into airplane model tonight, I'll follow up with my findings over the weekend.

Great, keep us posted. I also turn airplane mode on at night, but my Bluetooth is always off.
Did anyone try to hard reset their phone ? I called Samsung but I got the standard reply to hard reset my phone, I haven't tried it yet because I doubt it would work and I have a lot of authenticators on it and it's a bit of a hassle. But if any of you guys already tried it I would love to hear if it worked ! Thanks !

BTlowpower issue solved by turning Bluetooth on and then off again after Airplane mode activated. However, that caused another issue - modem_usb_gpio_wake to crush my battery. Doing more testing today to resolve that one - will post again when that one is solved.

After testing different configurations this weekend, it looks like turning off sync causes these 2 kernel wakelocks. I tested 2 states: Airplane mode + no Wi-fi, and no data (no Wi-fi + no Wireless data, voice signal on). In either instance, the wakelock occurs with sync off. Leaving sync on finally achieved the low overnight battery drain (< 5%) I've been looking for. Regardless, to avoid battery drain after shutting data off:
Turn Bluetooth On and then Off again. If you are using airplane mode (this may be overkill), also turn Wireless Data On and then Off again.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi thanks for posting !
Just to make sure I understand, you say the solution is to turn bluetooth on and off again after turning off airplane mode ?
Just for completeness sake, this is my situation: overnight I turn on airplane mode and I sometimes have the wakelock draining my battery during the day (but not always). Draining doesn't occur during the night as while it's on airplane mode I'm also charging it.
I will try every morning when I turn airplane mode off to turn bluetooth on and off again afterwards for a few days and see if that helps. Let me know if I misunderstood.
Thanks,
Jorn
Just found a kind of workaround at another thread, this might be helpful (if it works ).
It doesn't, the drain still occurs >_<

I actually have a workaround that works for me. During the night I turn off my phone instead of using airplane mode. I no longer have BTLowPower and I also am able to successfully connect every time very quickly with bluetooth to my carkit, which previously was very flaky. It's definitely a standard issue though with the galaxy nexus, I can reproduce it on 2 other galaxy nexi as well.
I just installed BetterBatteryStats two days ago, and I'm seeing the exact same results. I can't help but wonder if the issue is at all related to the kernel I'm using (LeanKernel v4.7), or if perhaps a resolution to the problem could be solved by a modification within the kernel code. The ROM I'm running is BAMF Paradigm v2.4, which is based on AOSP v4.1.2. Like the rest of you, I'd really like to get this fixed.

Anyone have any updates on this? My GNex just started doing this randomly after being stable for a long time.

After three days or so, the issue seemed to go away on its own. I didn't make any changes to any of the apps I was running, nor did I update the kernel. I really have no clue what took care of it for me, but I haven't seen it since.

Wi-Fi turns off when phone in deep sleep

Hi, I saw many posts related to this topic Wi-Fi turns off when phone in deep sleep but not able to find a single working solution.
My phone runs on 4.2.1 with wi-fi sleep policy set to NEVER ( that means always on ideally ) , and tried turning on / off wifi optimization, avoid poor connections is not ticked.
Even after doing everything the wifi is turned off after sometime and when i turn on Screen it turns it back! How to do I solve this?? I am using STOCK rom, with just root.. No other battery saver etc. app installed.

well i have this problem too on every jelly bean rom. the only rom without this problem in cm10 stable. now i'm with cm10.1 hoping they'll fix it like in cm10.
when that problem comes out just toggle on and off airplane mode and it should disappear until next wifi toggle off and on.
I hope google will solve it in key lime pie
CM 10.1 has only just started doing this in the last week or so, it was fine before. Was wondering if it was just me with this issue or not...

Am i correct in understanding that you don't want it to disconnect? The option in the settings is "Keep wifi on during sleep". If you have it at Never, then it will disconnect when the phone goes into sleep. It should be placed on Always because you want it to be on even during sleep
Flowed and Tapped from my Nexus
fixed the wifi problem
Heya! My first post!!!
So, i had the same problem on my Allview P5 Quad.
The guys from Allview released an update for my phone based on 4.2.1 and i thought the problem was from them. I had WiFi turned on and after a few minutes from entering sleep mode, the WiFi got disconnected, both WiFi and data. I have installed the last update again and again, rooted, unrooted, tried every option from WiFi and i still had the same problem.
So i timed the time when the WiFi disconnects and it was exactly 6 minutes. So i thought that it must be an option that does this. So i unchecked the Quick Power Saving icon from Switches and ... SURPRISE! My WiFi stays on continuously. So, the problem is from the system power saving settings. I hope this helps all of you.
P.S. Love this forum! Thanks for all your help!
I believe I found the problem, some how it is not the phone but my wifi router (and all routers) is the problem. Go into your router settings and look for the "Beacon Interval" and set that number to 50. I'm not going to explain what the beacon interval is, go google it and you will see. I switched mine and now the wifi on my phone does not switch off when in deep sleep.

Bluetooth and deep sleep

Hey, I've tried searching but couldn't find anything.
I started using my phone to tether to my Nexus 7 via bluetooth and noticed that when bluetooth is enabled on the phone it will not go into a deep sleep. There's a kernel wakelock called "BTLowPower" and I was wondering if this was normal? If it is, what would be the best way around it? I was thinking of using tasker to turn bluetooth off when the screen is off unless connected? What do you guys think?
