[Q] Playfulgod's CM11 Issues - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm sorry if this is not the right thread to post it(I've searched extensively in this thread but to no avail), but I have 2 main issues with the KitKat ROM for my GNex.
FIrst of all is the issue regarding locking your screen when playing music. When I'm playing music and locking the screen, the phone will suddenly stop the music suddenly and then resumes. This gets quite irritating but I don't know if this is normal KitKat behaviour.
Secondly is that 720p playback with MX is very laggy. In my experience with stock, I've seen better peformance out of the player, and I'm kinda weirded out by this.
I'm using the stock kernel, and what not. The only app that I use that effects many apps is Greenify(Oh, and I don't greenify the music app).
Even I did a clean flash the problem persists.

I know that MX player was having issues with early builds of CM11 but don't know the particulars for Playfulgod's rom. I would try and flash another CM11 based rom and see if you have those same issues, if not you can boil it down to that particular build.

htcmediacacheservice freezing my video playbacks

Since I bought my phone I have trouble playing videos in gallery, I finally found what is bugging the playback (electric sound and FC) it's an app called ''htcmediacacheservice'', when I kill this app in Task Manager the video playbak is good but after some trials this app will come back again bugging videos.
Am I the only one to have this buggy service/app?
Deleting it in titanium backup would be good?
Still running stock rom with 1.28

i have the stutter but its not common most of the time play fine and sometimes just go crazy
i guess you just found a solution
I just updated using the 1.29 RUU and currently restoring everything
ill report if the bug is gone
I think this app is here to ''help'' the video player with cache, but sometimes this cache get's buggy or the app itself is not stable,I have found a list of ''deletable'' apps in Sense and this one can be deleted without affecting stability

lol bro half day into your new hox and you already discovering stuff! good job
gallery runs videos using the saver core, so lets hope this is unrelated
what is ''saver core''?
Do you think it's bad ram?
5th battery saver core of Tegra3 to save battery it
its runs in the default video player to play h264 videos and when the screen is turned off
my offer still stands
Hi,
I think I'm having same issue with video playback. It runs most of the time smooth, but sometimes sound "clicks" and video pauses for some part of a second and run further ok. I killed that cache media service mentioned before but it didn't help. Any idea what else can be wrong?
I'm on stock 1.29 rom.
I had the exact same problem with my HOX, happy watching a video and then it would just suddenly stop for no reason at all. I'll have to try this fix when I get my new HOX if the problem hasn't been sorted.

Upgraded to 1.29,rooted,flashed Leedroid...till now no problems in video playback

[Q] Google Play Music inconsistency with FLAC

i've just switched from i9023 to i9250. the crappy sound was a great disappointment but i've found some patched kernel with sound improvements, so it's acceptable now. it's still far from a voodoo'd crespo, but it's OK now.
the only problem i cannot tackle with is the inconsistency of flac playback. some albums encoded in flac play fine but some others are not even recognised by the GPM. so as to track down the problem, i searched for two albums i encoded with the same flac lib with the same encoder setting, exactly. But not; one is playing fine but the other is being constantly refused. as both albums play perfect on crespo, i must have concluded that it's something very specific to maguro.
both phones have the same player (4.4.811H), auto-updated from play store. on crespo i have 4.1.2 stock, on maguro it's just upgraded to 4.2.1 stock ota.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thx !
There's a few commits laying around in aosp/master about FLAC.
Try cyanogenmod.

the stock Google Play music player is a mess. So many lags in the UI, aniamtions are slow, the transitions are laggy and painful. The whole app is messy as **** and should be recoded from the ground and put on a new UI.

thx, but i don't think to install another rom just because of this issue. i've tried aosp in the meantime, but besides the flac problem i've got gallery desynched; one by one it crapped all the apps synched with it (camera, talk, g+, ...) so i wont change to have more problem than i have now
would you, please, direct/link me to those sparse comments. i've made several hours search, but i haven't found anything about to this issue.

i don't really mind how a music player looks like as i use it for listening to music. usually it's run in the background, so i don't really care about such issues. anyway, i tried several other players but the problem is persistent, so, again, it must be an inherent problem of maguro and not specific to GPM. again, exactly the same player plays fine the albums on crespo being not even recognised on maguro.

[Q] Has anyone noticed this issue with YouTube app on KitKat custom ROMs?

I'll make it short and to the point.
When I play a YouTube stream at 720p over WiFi on the stock firmware the battery drain is about 1% per 3mins. But on just about any custom KitKat ROM out there the loss is much more heavy, it's about 1% per 1.5 mins.
The brightness was kept at 50% in all cases. I tried even lowering the brightness but it had little or no effect.
I am beginning to wonder if these are directly related to the changes Google made to Kikat's rendering engine for UI and everything else as part of their project Butter.
GSMArena for example noted in their battery tests for several phones after the kitkat updates from Jellybean the video play back time has suffered.
I have tested this issue extensively with multiple ROMs against the stock .96 and .211 firmwares
You guys know a reason for this? Is there a way get around this? I really like the various KitKat ROMs out there but YouTube battery drain is too much an issue now and everything else is just fine.
Previously YouTube app on android depended on Adobe flash right? Now how does it work? Is the whole YouTube app on android running on HTML5 backend?
Hope someone else has noticed this too.
i don't think so bro

:crying: Hoping someone has. It's easily noticeable when you play YouTube videos over WiFi with any of the custom Kitkat ROMs.
If there is a way to track something or someone wants me to put out some of the log dumps, do let me know what I need to do and I will try post them here.
Not only YouTube man its just when you play videos example: MX player you'll notice the difference
Sony ROMs are the best if the had the speed of cyanogen ROMs

Did another comparison with stored 720p MP4 video
Stock ROM .96 stock Movie player from Sony ---> 1% for every 4mins
KitKat ROM stock Movie player ---> 1% for every ~4.1 mins
More or less the same.
So the curious thing is WiFi radios are the same in both cases when I play YouTube streams at 720p and the stock Jellybean does better on the same version of the YoutTube app while KitKat ROMs, all of them so far, eat too much battery playing the same YouTube stream on the exact same WiFi Radio.
This is why I am thinking it's something to do with how KitKat itself is designed to work now with various apps. Maybe something inefficient is triggered in KitKat while playing YouTube.
Could be it be that Hardware Acceleration is broken in KitKat for YouTube?
Anyway to track the levels of acceleration?
Bump

[Q] [CM12] [Desire 816] Podcasts not playing correctly on any apps.

Hello, I am having a problem playing podcasts. When I start a podcast it plays for a few seconds, then the sound cuts out but the playback continues and silent seconds go by. This happens in Podcast Addict, Podcast Republic, and happens in Apollo with downloaded podcasts as well. I don't really know why this is happening and I haven't found any way to troubleshoot the problem. Other audio/video streaming services such as Spotify, Netflix, and Youtube work perfectly. The only problems I am having with playback is with podcasts, it doesn't matter which app I use to play it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix my problem?

Hello, and welcome to XDA! I asked the moderator to move your thread to make user-generated answers available
The build you are using is experimental and has battery drain issues. Check the bugs list. Some of the framework modules and APIs conflict with each other, and some third-party apps like the ones you are using don't fully have Lollipop support yet
I recommend switching to KitKat until there is a more stable and usable ROM. I checked out the ROM thread for the version you are using and the ROM is still in the Alpha testing stage. Not even beta. Along with alpha comes unstable.
I think that a lot of noobs (I'm not saying you are one) have issues with trying to get the latest and greatest, however the latest and greatest doesn't always work properly.
Best move: Switch to KitKat.
Hope that helps, and don't forget to use the Thanks! button.

Thanks. I'll just use my old phone that has KitKat for it in the meantime while it is getting fixed.

Music player problem

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this. I have installed Bliss ROM 6.4 on my G3 and sometimes when I start a song the volume spikes for a split second and gets back to normal, which is very umcomfortable, obviously
What can I do to fix this? Is this a bug of the CM player?
I like this app, so I don't know if it's worth switching to another player. I feel like the audio quality was better on the stock LG player though.
I hope someone can help me here
Regards,
