So... I'm trying to watch "How I Met Your Mother" on my tablet, but when i'm streaming it online, it stops and when I click play again chrome freezes and crashes. The online streaming works perfectly on my Galaxy S4, but not on my tablet. Anyone know a fix for this? It is really annoying..

I use dolphin browser with jetpack built in that supports flash. I have the most recent flash player installed. I played the latest full episode to try and it played fine in HD. It must be chrome giving you a hard time.
That didn't seem to solve the problem... Same issue with Dolphin. I use chrome on my Galaxy S4 and it works fine..

Hey guys, as the title suggest, I've been having issues streaming certain media after flashing AOKP B29. I used to be able to watch starcraft, dota, etc etc through browser and could launch video player directly from browser.
However, when I check again, it says "No plug in available to view this content". I'm pretty sure I had no special plug in before either. I installed flash player, thinking that'd fix it, but still nope. Tried on chrome and stock browser, no avail.
Suggestions?
Bump. Any solutions?

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help...
I'm experiencing a strange problem in functionality with my HTC One X which worked without issues straight out the box on the SGS2.
I cannot watch live streaming on the device (football through live online footy). I've tried using the default Internet Browser which crashes upon pressing play. Opera Mobile also crashes. The only one that does work is Dolphin HD, however the stream on this one is intermittently jumpy. I also cannot click the icon in the bottom of the streaming video to make the stream full screen, whenever i try to click the icon, the browser thinks i'm trying to pause the stream and does so (possibly a flash issue not browser). Can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Luke.

Hi folks,
I'm stumped on this one, wondering if anyone has seen similar issues or has any ideas.
Basically, many videos will playback with extreme stutter over wireless. I've tried every video player I can think of and I've also tried alternate sources (NAS vs desktop share). The reason I know this is only a wireless problem is I have no issues with identical clips once I copy them to a USB and play them using an OTG cable.
I thought at first it was a question of bandwidth, but I'm on wireless N and the problem persists on even a 640x480 .avi file @ 1250kbps, which wireless N should be able to handle.
Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
TLDR: Many video clips stutter only when played from a wireless source.
Bump! Anyone have any ideas?
I'm experiencing this problem to when streaming videos from the interwebz, opening them in MXPlayer.
Does anyone have a clue what this might be caused by?
Bump numero dos!
weird, i can't play youtube videos, stutters, not sure if if its the device cuz i have fast wifi connection speed, 150Mbps connection it says on my 5ghz N router
im thinking its device wifi hardware issue and not my actual home wifi network
Bump again. Find it hard to imagine nobody else is having this problem.
The stuttering is due to Google's poor implementation of video playback in the new youtube app. Uninstall all updates and use the stock youtube app for a better playback experience sans stutter.

I don't have problems with Youtube though. Let me reiterate:
Using the same exact videos and apps:
Play a video saved to my NAS or a Windows share via wireless - playback that stutters
Play a video saved to a USB flash drive using USB OTG - playback is fine
Again, this happens even with a 1250kbps video over wireless-N, so I don't believe throughput is an issue. I get 35mbps up 21mbps down on speedtest.net over my Nexus 7's wireless.
Just a suggestion, but try your video on some other network to isolate to a Nexus problem or something else.

Thanks, this is a good idea. I'll try a couple WAP networks at work tomorrow and report back.

I tried today using two different WAPs and the problem still persists. Any other ideas?
The only thing I can think of is to try a system reset. Be careful to back up your music/pictures etc.
OK, new development on this. Not sure why I didn't think of trying this before, but I did some testing with my 2012 Nexus 7. Has the exact same problem as my 2013 Nexus 7.
So at this point I'd have to think this is Android related and not hardware or environment related. Some sort of issue with passing data between the wireless hardware and the rest of the OS.
Thoughts?
Bump!

Can you provide a little more information please? When you say you are playing it via network using the MX Player, are you supplying MX a stream url? or you simply browse to the LAN share via a file explorer and try to play the video directly?
Did you try changing the decoders in MX Player? HW/HW+/SW? HW+ works perfectly for me on Nexus 7 2013.
720p and 1080p worked just fine over network with my Nexus 7 (TP-Link 1043ND so nothing special, same old 2.4GHz N network) ..

I'm browsing to the LAN share using ES File Explorer and using that to play from the shares. Do you suggest something different?

I have had great success with DLNA media servers. I have PS3 Media Server (totally free) installed on my server pc. My Nexus 7 has BubbleUpnP which picks up PS3 media server flawlessly. BubbleUpNp is by far one of the best UpNp and DLNA client and server I have seen till date for android device (just my humble opinion). I have set MXPlayer as the default player in BubbleUpnP settings. I can browse and play anything, and its without a stutter.
Here are the details of my setup:
-- PS3 media server installed on
-- BubbleUpnP installed on Nexus 7
-- MX Player installed on Nexus 7
That's all it takes. I have taken this setup a step further for my own needs. I store movies on my Nexus 7 since I travel in the subway and I like to watch movies on the go. Now I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and depending on where I am, I switch devices while watching movies. I would start a movie on one device and resume on the other, without actually having to store the video in both the devices. I tether a connection from my S3 and my Nexus 7 connects to the hotspot. I run BubbleUpnP on both Nexus and S3. The Nexus 7 acts as a server and sees the S3 as a client (renderer). I stream movies from my Nexus 7 to my S3. Tested with 720p movies and the result is flawless. No quality loss. Sometimes there is a momentary stutter but it goes away. It depends on how the video is ripped too.
You really don't need the S3 and N7 setup details. i just wanted to share it. Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps.
Hi guys!
I am experiencing an odd video/audio streaming stuttering on my Nexus 7 (and Nexus 4 as well) after upgrading to 4.4.3. I am using Plex to stream media, the software is up-to-date, everything was fine before Android upgrade. Now, depending on video/audio format, playbacks starts stuttering after 20-30 minutes and becomes unwatchable.
Found these issue reports:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=70877
https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/111503-nexusgpe-443/
Has any of you encountered this? Is there a solution?
I would appreciate your suggestions.

Not that I'm any help here, but I have the exact same issue. I have two Nexus 5 and three Nexus 7 devices all on 4.4.3 and just discovered Plex is now unwatchable. My old HP Touchpad running 4.2 or 4.3 is working just fine.
Have you guys found a solution to this yet? I have the same issues after updating to 4.4.3. Hope a fix is provided soon. Dont want to have to downgrade
Unfortunately, after upgrading to the latest Plex, this is still happening. Reducing streaming rate seems to help, but this is more of a workaround, not a solution

I found a post saying that the issue has been submitted to google. They also mention disabling hls in the client setting fixes the problem. I have checked everywhere for that setting and have not yet found it.
From Plex forums:
1. Download the VLC for Android app
2. Go to the Plex App, Under device profile, click Android, and change the Default player to External Player
3. Enjoy streaming without stutter

Moreover, this problem seems to be specific to stock 4.4.3, CyanogenMod is apparently ok.

You're right, screen casting works only on selected samsung, HTC and nexus devices. More will be added later.

Actually chromecast doesn't work at 10'5. It starts to play YouTube and stuff but after that system ui process crashes and reboot is the only way to go. Any fix available?
Did you try EZCast for example? Is the problem with Chromecast app or with the screen cast in general?
Chromecast.app and Samsung Galaxy Tab S aren't working correctly together.. Could it be the device? The app? That's anyone's guess. Best thing to do is email chromecast and Samsung.

Tried only chromecast. My guess is that it is the app to blame since it crashes in every app that tries to use chromecast but I emailed both samsung and Google.

Try EZCast you will not be disappointed I use it on Nexus 5 (despite the fact that Chromecast is working fine on this device)

Chromecast works perfect on my 10.5, mine has never crashed and I stream tons of YouTube, vudu, and Netflix to two different chromecasts.
Your comment makes it sound like chromecast doesn't work on any tab s 10.5, which is not the truth because it works perfect on mine. I can't wait until they add the screen mirroring feature for the tab s and chromecast.
Have you tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Or maybe rebooting your chromecast?
It's happening to several people here. (including me) So something is definitely wrong.

The issue is it doesn't work with Google Play apps. It works fine with Netflix. Try this test:
- Play a movie using Play Movies & TV (you can use the free Gravity Movie)
- Cast to move to chromecast
- While it is playing on the TV (through chromecast), pull down the notification drawer

Wow, you're right, I just did this test with play movies and play music and it did freeze my tablet. Well, I hope they get that fixed because I have 10 or so movies I've bought on Google play.
I did tests with other chromecast apps and they all work except the Google apps.
Email Samsung and Google. The more people that make issue with it. The quicker they will seek a resolution
This issue is carried across most of the Samsung tablet platform (Note, Pros...etc) and its surprising it hasn't been addressed.
Netflix will work fine, the Avia app, but the Google based ones will error out the tablet if you pull the notification down while playing media.
More people need to report it so it can be fixed! :good:
Im having trouble with allcast seeing my Chromecast. The Chromecast app will see it and allow for config but not Allcast. Tried the same procedure on my N5 and was able to cast video no problem.

Also BubbleUPNP makes the system crash. Emailed them both but I wonder if I ever get any response..
After some reboots of the Chromecast, router, and Tab all works well
I just got a Chromecast this week and was excited to play with it on my Tab S 10.5, but I've had the same systemui crashes after using the notification drawer while streaming. It's pretty annoying because it's near-impossible to get the system to respond as the crash notice comes up every few seconds while streaming to the Chromecast.
What I've found is that if I preempt the Chromecast streaming by initiating streaming from my phone or PC instead of the Tab then the crashing stops and I can then use the Tab again. I hope they fix this soon.
