Nexus 7 2013 auto on with power? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hey guys working on my car install and was looking to have the tablet power on with the car. I'm not sure (and doubt) the fastboot change for the n7 2012 will work for our version... Any ideas on how to set it up for the n7 2013?
Thanks guys!

Ive seen before people have a app and set it to auto turn off the screen when the power for usb goes off and the screen auto unlocks and turns back on when power is restored but thats it.

Edit: nevermind, you want from power off state...tasker won't help you.

Tasker will do this but you have to install the Secure Settings plugin and use the lock device function. I'm going through a round of this myself.

How does Tasker run if the device is off? As in, no power to anything.

It's ok, I did the same thing, that's why I edited it.

Lol yea I was using tasker but I would rather it shutnright off without power and turn back on with the ignition.... So I have no worry about it dying and having to dismantle my dash to turn it back on.
I thought about running a power button but don't want yo rip apart my tablet with no knowledge

Yeah, but you stated you did not want to alter the hardware (rip apart the hardware). There is a teardown video that might make you more comfortable.

So there's no way to do it by software? ... No fastboot way like the first gen nexus 7

There could be, have you tried that method on the new one? I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert so I really don't know. Perhaps if you linked me to the method you speak of I could be of more help.

I haven't tried yet but here you go.

My phone asks me for my wifi passwords when I go from one network to the next. If I'm on my home wireless then want to connect to my works hot spot it will want the password. Same for when I get home and want to connect to home wifi.

No question. More of a statement. My phone is not remembering my ssid's and passwords that are associated with them all the time. It forgets them in other words and I have to re type them in. Something I shouldn't have to do.

Sounds like a software issue with your specific device. Mine remembers and switches wifi networks without issues.

Does anyone know of a mod for this phone that gives you software buttons like the Nexus devices? If so, what's it called.

Why not? It could be something loose inside (I have no idea) or it may need replacing.
If you don't have insurance you are out $50 and you have a working phone
But you did hook to a pc and do an odin tar restore right?

Yes you need to stop Knox for security specific apps.
Go to settings>general>security and check unknown sources , then uncheck verify apps. This is mainly for installing apps.
But since there's no real indication of what you have installed, and whats running. i'd do that first and go from there.
From what the masses say, its a root issue that has been fixed. SO yes, you have to be rooted to get rid of whatever you are trying to do.
Thanks ill do that.

Art is that ugly stuff you pay outrageous amounts of money for.
Oh wait ART is android run time which is set to replace dalvik virtual machine. The short explination is that ART is the new way to run apks. Google can give you plenty of in depth information.
