Galaxy S 2 randomly died

Could not find anything related in searching.
My cousins S2 randomly died. He could not give me much info about how.
It won't turn on, and it won't charge. It isn't the battery, we have tried other batteries. We don't know if its a brick, because he didn't do anything that could brick it (did not install a custom ROM, no custom kernel). Anyone have any idea? I don't have much to work off of. Anyone know a way I can get it to boot into recovery or download modes when it won't boot normally?
Plug it in press power if it doesn't boot but you see Samsung logo then you need a new power button
-if you can turn it on no logo just vibrates then you bricked it

Same thing on my Galaxy S2
Mine did the exact same thing. One minute it was FTPing data to my server and (backup) and the next, it was dead... Luckily it was under factory warranty and they replaced all the guts (new everything inside, different MAC address, SN, and IMEI numbers... New SW too...
The folks on the phone at Samsung were great about the RMA process and the turn around was really quick! (sent back 2 days after receipt, via UPS 2 day!)
Samsung US Warranty Phone Number
FYI - I got much better response when talking on the phone than doing anything on the website. So here's their US contact info:
Samsung Warranty - 1-888-987-4357

[Q] i747 Hardbricked - Warranty question

So today I finaly decided to root my ATT GS3 i747 (I actually use it on net10).
After rooting I flashed the Omega Rom for the i9300 on to it (I didn't read all the directions first to be honest or I would have relised it was the wrong version).
Now my phonewill not turn on. Tried all the button combanations and nothing.
When connected to a wall charger teh vharging light will not come on.
If I remove the battery and connect it to my PCa red light will come on. If I try to turn it on the light just goes off after a few seconds. My computer will also find a device called 'QHSUSB - DLOAD' but it dont find any drivers and nothing else seems to happen.
I web cahtted with a Samsung Rep, pretended like it just failed, and was told to sent it in under warranty. Is there a chance Samsung will replace it as failed or will they ind it's rooted and refuse warranty coverage?
Also if anyones knows a fix for this I will be happy to give it a try.
Thanks

[Q] Recover Data with Broken Screen/Digitizer

I have a friend of mine who has a Note II which I am not familiar with (I have had every Galaxy S, so pretty familiar with Samsung), he broke his screen and the digitizer is broken also. I am trying to help him recover data/contacts/pictures/etc from his phone. It is on the latest stock ROM and has never been rooted or anything. Is there anyway this would be possible with ADB? I am pretty sure his USB debugging is off. He has a new Note II coming tomorrow from Asurion. He has experience taking the Note II apart because he has replaced his glass multiple times, I was thinking about recommending him to swap the motherboards out real quick just to transfer the stuff he needs to a computer. Does anyone know if this approach would work?

Has he tried just simply backing it up through Kies and just restoring it to his new phone?

No he hasn't. Would this work without being able to access anything on the phone? I have never used Kies.

Samsung GS3 16GB fully dead. Please Help

I have looked everywhere for an answer and did come across several but don't know how to proceed. I have got a Samsung GS3 16GB SGH-T999V from Wind (Canada). After using it for 3 months the phone died on me. Sent it to Samsung but they said that my warranty was void because I tampered with it. The truth is I tried to install an apk app file and that is it; no rooting or anything like that.
The phone is completely dead. If I plug into my pc, a red light appears and then after several seconds it goes away and that is pretty much it. I bought a jig for $1 and had no luck with it. I am not sure whether the battery is dead or not. It shouldn't be because the phone only lasted me 3 months. I haven't used the phone since 2012. Now I would like to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
p.s Would plugging that jig into my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 ruin my tablet? I just wanna know whether the jig is working.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 - Dead GT N5110 - replacement motherboard tried - still dead

Hi, I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (GT-N5110) which won't turn on.
I've charged the battery up and tested it, and it has slightly greater than the voltage stated on the battery label. When charging, the usual charging battery symbol, normally seen on a switched off and charging device does not appear.
I've got some important photos and files on it and thought if I bought another (used) Note and transferred the motherboard from the old (dead) device to the new one that I might be able to get them back, but having done so, I've had no luck - it still won't power on with the old motherboard in the (new to me) replacement tablet.
I've now reinstalled the motherboard back onto the replacement device, and it works fine again.
My understanding is that I can't transfer data from the dead Note 8.0 to the new one if it won't switch on. Can anyone confirm if this is correct, please?
Does anyone have any ideas that I might try to get my files off my old (dead) device onto the new one (or anywhere else) please?
Grateful for any advice anyone can offer.
Many thanks in anticipation.
You need access to the internal memory to retrieve the data. If the SOC failed the data is lost. Otherwise...
A data recovery specialist may be able to retrieve them. Probably around $800.
Thanks, and thanks for coming back to me so quickly.
