[Request Kernel Kit Kat W/Oc & More roms] - Sprint LG Optimus G

We need to get more Devs on board here the ls970 is far from obsolet. I would like to see some new projects Kernel and Roms.
Let's support our Devs and show them Appreciation.

Try AK kernel located in the smorgasbord of roms thread under original android development.

Really!? No offense but have you even looked at our Development threads? We have a lot of 4.4 ROMs and the devs are taking requests for more.
Personally I think they're doing an awesome job of keeping us current.

I'm currently learning how to build, when I do, I'll focus more on quantity than updating older ones. Like Liquid or PAC

While I can't talk on xperia, nexus devices will always have the most support because they are made to be tweaked and tinkered with by developers. I don't think it's a fair comparison. I'm happy with the amount of work, mods, tweaks etc for this phone and it does continue to grow everyday. Besides that, the community is incredibly nice and helpful - as many have stated it's like a family - I'm more than satisfied with it and I'm sorry if you don't feel the same way.
EDIT: What I do wish was updated is the main forum, where it shows all the sub forums and has a link to roms, kernel etc. Under kernel it only shows Neighborhoodhacker's kernel. Atleast Vanir was added under ROMS. But there is so much more than what that main ls970 page shows if you just go into the sub forums.

You got it.
If you've been following any of the threads in the "Development" and "Original Development" threads, then you should know that we need to use KK versions of the recoveries. TWRP 2.6.3.3. has the "potential" to brick your phone, but has been working well for most. If your worried then use CWM 6.0.4.5 or.6. You can find those here. http://downloads.codefi.re/shelnutt2/freegee/LG-LS970/
As for the Rom's, here's a list of links to them. Anywhere from 4.4 to 4.2
Super nexus 4.4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43767273
Dirty Unicorns 4.3.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43469320
AOSP KK 4.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47192724
The Smorgasboard of 4.4 ROM's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47844260 - theres 3-4 in here.
CM 11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48323665
MAHDI 4.4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49569082
cfx 4.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46470957 - this one has been picked up and is current.
cfxe 4.4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49612282
Omni 4.4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48905859
Vanir http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49213482
Just to name a few.
On the Kernels, you'll need to dig through the last few pages of those threads to find those. They are all be developed and fixed daily. As are all the ROM's.
I can't really tell you which one to use, as they all have their perks. My preference is PSX, Vanir, and Liquid when it comes out again.
All the ROM's and Kernel's are being developed for all versions of the OG, so make sure you read which one you need for your phone. For the most part, use ??????spr, since I assume you're using a Sprint version.
Like I said earlier, read the last few pages of the Rom's you're going to try. If you have any questions about them...ask. This forum is very helpful.

EDIT: And you didn't steal anything, I love that boot animation, especially with sound. Idgaf who thinks I'm a nerd either - nerd and proud. Dr Who is my sh*t! It's like The Twilight Zone or Outer Limits but with a recurring cast. But I just got it off youtube and turned it into a bootanimation. Glad someone else enjoys it! That's what community is all about!

HellKat I guess isn't ready yet, because using the CM Sources and kernel it still won't boot :/ I'll try a new build in a week or two. Maybe I'll get into PA if no one is handling it :3

[DEV] LG-P930 Source Code- Let the deving begin!

This is the source code for the Nitro (p930). The 160mb file unzipped contains: P930_Gingerbread.zip, P930_Kernel.tar.gz, and a readme. Get it here from LG!
Cant wait to see the kernels popping up, should be a good time.
Let the development begin! I know I will be releasing a custom rom soon .
Stay tuned...
Reserved...Just in case of a fire.
The source has been out even longer than the custom ROMs for this phone. We just really need more devs to jump in on this phone. Its a great phone: amazing screen, fast CPU, 21mbps HSPA, LTE, etc.

How does one go about cooking a rom for this phone? which kitchens are compatible with it?
I have never cooked a rom before, but I'm pretty computer savvy, 2nd year bachelors of computer systems engineering. Help me out dudes! I want to try to put ICS on the phone.
I'd be willing to help contribute to a ROM. I want something AOSP.. LG ui is atrocious. If someone teaches me how ill dev the crap outta this thing.

I think a lot of pressure was for us to get jelly bean. We got it and things calmed down. We still have development. But, this device just isn't in enough hands. When CM get finished that should give us a pretty stable foundation for other popular AOSP roms. So, at this point that seems to be what is the most important milestone. I don't know how that is progressing though.

I'm really glad the first response wasn't a "hey stop asking, flame flame flame."
But yeah, I feel the same. The camera and other fixes in CM will make it stable and people will build on top of that. Why bother making new ROMs if your old ones are good and why build on CM if the camera (a pretty popular use of smartphones nowadays) isn't working?

I think I've been around here long enough to warrant asking a question like that. I've done my fair amount of contribution. Kc thanks for the answer. Megamaster, I agree, although I love aosp it would be nice to see a highly optimized, highly stable, and heavily themed LG based ROM too. For some people it's just their cup of tea.

What's needed most is themes. Good, full themes. I would kill to see somebody port Myn's Warm over to the LGOG. I'm sure somebody would like to see a TW or the new Moto look as well. Nobody has even bothered to mod any of the theme apks that come built in to the LG software. It may not be CM theme manager level of awesome but our phones does have a theme manager built in.
Except for base ROMs like AOSP/CM there really isn't a reason for new ROMs. To be honest, Imperium Initiative isn't even a ROM, I simply released it as one because I was feeling lazy and didn't want to write the script for it. If I had, it only would have been around a 50-60MB DL.

I'm content with what we have for the moment. And I've been poking around with some files myself trying to get features we should have (QSlide apps) working and other things of interest.
What languages/scripts and what do you guys make/bake and mod/theme Roms with and in? I know just some of the stepping stones, but have lots of time to learn. With a bit of self study I don't see myself being able to make roms, but surely theming/modding.
can anybody port iOS? Totally kidding.
I'm looking forward to what is coming, but at the same time, we do have some very good, stable ROMs. Something that can be said for our device that cannot be said for many others is that all of our ROMs that are not in testing are stable. Quality before quantity and all that. I was looking through the GS3 forums for a friend yesterday and they have so many options you simply could not possibly know what is good and what is not without reading pages upon pages of posts. It was awful!
Anyway, I think it's a valid question but from my POV I'm pretty happy with where we are at.
Plus, the roms we have are their own build your own rom kits. The possibilities are pretty endless.

Alright, for those of you who are interested... I've Built the new Paranoid Android from source with alittle spice of my own style ...
This is PA, the way I build and the way I like it.. it has PA's new HALO, yes HALO and it's only available as alpha for the official devices that PA builds for, until now.. I'll let you guys try it out .. Altho I truly love rootbox, I also love PA, so I've been building builds for myself but since some ppl maybe interested in what HALO is or wanna try it, I'll offering you guys the opportunity to do so.. please remember to wipe cache and dalvik before rebooting..
DOWNLOAD HERE and then watch the video below.. remember it's alpha so I dont' wanna hear or you posting, this doesn't work and that doesn't work... There is one tip I can give you tho.. If halo is running, you can't install apk's you need to longpress and drag the halo to the X like you are deleting an icon from your homescreen to install apks.... download gapps here make sure you download the newer gapps.. the multidpi gapp is what I use...

thanks enjoy this alpha

@xboxfanj has tried, it was my first aosp I did sprint which I built yesterday.. I updated today on my regular one so I also made an sprint one
you can try it out and if there's enough interest I might open a thread for it.. thanks.
DOWNLOAD HERE
download gapps here http://goo.im/devs/BaNkS/GApps I personal have no issues with banks minimal and multidpi
Downloading and will give it a shot.
Thanks
Looks good. Going to take some time trying to go through all the options. Everything seems to be working, minus the usual bugs that are on all aosp jb roms so far like the phone call issue and camera focus.
One thing that's bugging me is that the status bar color changes when I open the messaging app. I can't seem to figure out how to fix it.

I put up a new build .. the link is in the OP incase anyone is trying it out. and the changelog you can find here if you've read some of the changelogs you'll find out that there are some features ive implemented.. like under device options in settings it has options to disable/enable cap key lights and vibration intensity. this also comes with my custom kernel but im sure everyone downloads and installs a different one.. for now anyways, till I think of what I should do.. I've been working on this rom for months now and just building another rom after I've spent a good amount of time is kinda useless for me..

Thanks for doing this. Does it have the same camera focus bug that we're seeing in all the other AOSP Roms?

Considering the Optomus G pro but...

Hey guys thinking of upgrading to this phone and I love the look, feel, and features of this phone, but it doesn't look like you guys have much going on in the way of development? I'd be coming from the Samsung Infuse, so I'm a bit spoiled, when the phone was newer lots of developers were building and porting custom roms, and currently there are about 4 variations of updated (Android 4.1+) roms in development. Currently I'm on Beanstalk for the Infuse (android 4.3) which is a great rom with tons of customization.
I wouldn't mind learning and developing myself but with the apparent shortness of developers this could be slow going. Am I missing something here, is there just not a lot of development because this is a relatively new device, or is it a hard or impossible device to hack?

I'd be coming from the Samsung Infuse, so I'm a bit spoiled, when the phone was newer lots of developers were building and porting custom roms, and currently there are about 4 variations of updated (Android 4.1+) roms in development. Currently I'm on Beanstalk for the Infuse (android 4.3) which is a great rom with tons of customization.
I wouldn't mind learning and developing myself but with the apparent shortness of developers this could be slow going. Am I missing something here, is there just not a lot of development because this is a relatively new device, or is it a hard or impossible device to hack?

I came from the note 1 so I know the feeling...but I gotta tell you the stock software is really that good...I don't really miss any of my custom roms I use to run..the only thing I do miss is my theme on the theme engine.
Once cm10 gets closer we may see more since most roms are based off it but who knows.
I wouldn't expect development like what you're use to but like I said I don't miss it at all..
Hopefully the Nexus 5 will have a 5" screen like the rumors suggest and I can finally get a nexus device.
Yeah there a cm10.1 thats almost a daily. Pretty much everything works just a few bugs. There are repositories for a slimbean 4.3 on github but idk how far along that is as there been no release. And over in android forums there a guy working on a stock debloated deodexed rom and the bootloaders only been bypassed for a month or so. It took a while to get it unlocked but development has been goin pretty well since then. Just gonna take time.

So now that the bootloader has been cracked, we should see some more development soon I'd think? I'm just surprised this isn't a more popular device, the specs on it are bad ass.

Well like mrdsl said cm10 is the base for many of the good rom anyway and its almost done so I would expect to see development pick up soon. Especially as att keeps dropping the price makeing this easily the cheapest snapdragon600 device making it very appealing to many more people we should see the community for this phone grow a lot.

Not cracked, just bypassed makes a world of difference and according to what I've been told from LG reps they have no plans on unlocking the bootloader or releasing any source code

My understanding is the source that came from Samsung was leaked so hopefully something similar will happen with LG.

I enjoy mine and it's running stock but rooted. I've been able to do what I want with just root like getting rid of pesky qslides bar. It's cool but I don't use it and the apps are still there so ya. If you get this phone you'll enjoy it. Either way good luck with whatever you choose!
IMHO, a phone that good, stock rom is good enough!
Stock ROM of Gpro is great.....and optimized.
I didnt miss CM or PA at all.
Exactly . Best rom by any android company released

I agree .. it's a good stock rom. I would have to say most people install roms to improve performance but even on the Note2 I had I wasn't installing roms like I did in the past on every device prior.. and in fact this G pro benchmarks about 60 to 100 percent faster than the Note2 in most ... and so far it's been the fastest, slickest device I've used by far. I'm using Apex Launcher for customizing .. and at this point my phone looks like stock Android 4.3 and runs lightning quick.. and battery life has been stellar. And I'm liking and using the quicknote dedicated button! Only thing I miss about my note2 is kinda the S-pen and the inky blacks(contrast)
I have own a lot of Samsung devices...starting from s2 to s4 and I change my s4 for this device because I didn't feel I big upgrade from s3...of course I miss switching rooms but I can tell you that this phone is a lot quicker than many phone out there...the G pro is a lot more responsive than my wife note 2 and what I love about this phone is BATTERY this monster last the whole day

do u kno if theres a black theme where the dialerpad, contact list and system settings are dark?
Stock is good, but modded roms are better. that's my option. Because the stock rom is so perfect, we're hailing the rom, but we better make sure that doesn't offend the developers. Even it is perfect, it is still 4.1, we will need 4.2/4.3 roms very soon, and LG won't catch up with our interest. So, we better appreciate what developers are trying now. Pls don't say we don't want mod roms.
For me, I just have one request to the devs, whatever you do, pls make sure the Quick Remote is in your rom, coz I'm already obsessed with it so much. now I can control everything around me with my phone.

A great jack of all trades rom that I'd love to see for our G Pro

Coming from the Samsung Infuse the lack of custom roms available for our device made me tentative to switch to this device. Now that we've had some great devs jump in and get some ROMs up and running, I'm glad I made the switch, so first off a great big THANK YOU to our guys that put in the work.
What made me most happy was getting cm 10 on this device . With cm 10 on this device it makes it possible to also make this rom work as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091900 which is Beanstalk from the Samsung Infuse.
This rom is basically a cm 10 with tons of customization and some features from other ROMs like slim and paranoid.
If I could do it myself I would. One thing I'm sure of though of this were ported over to our device it would quickly become the most popular rom for our device, as it is for the infuse. If someone with building knowledge is looking for a great project this is it. The original developer Scott has even provided instructions for building and a build support thread. Though the instructions require experience to understand.
Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

BeanStalk was my favorite ROM on my Note..I hope to see it on the 980 also.
It uses the better theme engine that does lockscreen and gets rid of the missing assets bug also.
All the best customs options without over doing it.
My thoughts exactly Scott crammed a ton of stuff in there for a way underpowered device, that rom would be sweet on the g pro. If I had the $ of totally buy Scott a g pro to switch to.

I miss my Infuse so bad. That was my first android phone; I used to be an Apple toothie fruity. That phone still gets developed on. Hell they have a super smooth and stable 4.3.

@oblikas could probably do it. Let's see if we can get him a few donations for it......

seems like it still has some bugs, which might be carried over from CM10.2, but it's working wonderfully!

Check your hangouts requests
here you go, for you flashaholics...
http://d-h.st/65N
IMPORTANT: you should be on the twrp that madmack posted in the CM10.2 thread or on the lokified CWM that shelnutt2 included in freegee.
You must flash a 4.3 gapps. I'm using the gapps that madmack had posted in the CM10.2 thread and got a few FCs so YMMV. You can also try the slim gapps which should be the-real-dark-slim-able, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

lol sorry, i didn't even see your post, let alone this thread, until i came into general to post screenshots
you are more than welcome to have the thread and credit in the dev section, especially since you deserve some donations toward getting this device. i just happened to get a build off (after like 4 hours building in a vm) for my own testing and then saw this thread...

Did you had any problem during the build?
You should start a dev thread for this ROM. Its a really nice one and as cm10.2 progressive for our phone it will only get better.
testing oblikas rom as we speak, freakin sweet that is all im saying, lol
