i had galaxy y earlier...and nw m using grand as all u know...using and flashing roms from like hell of long time...i was testing vulpix 3.0 on my galaxy y first if it had any significancr...
but my rom was not stock based...so i installed hyperion rom first..a stock based rom....as i wanted to check will it work good or not so that i can try on galaxy grand too...
my bro was using that phone for extra but had damn important contacts...as hyperion demands mounting everything....system,data,cache and den wipe data....i did......i already had his contacts exported.....in sdcard...
now after flashing rom.....i had to again mount everything and wipe data......sdcard was forcefully mounted...so i mounted other three and wiped everything...
after that i started...and tryd to import contacts..worst part is that i had vcf..but it had only 117contacts out of 331 contacts..they were damn very important...
so i tried everything...but as earlier rom had bug of playstore...i he didnt synchd contacts at all...now as my vcf is short and my contacts are gone..pls suggest smthing.... ...i had also took backup in case...but after succesful install i deleted backup...and then i made new backup....
so that in future cud be safe.....of new rom i mean..
worst part is that it over writed the directory seems...and now even with recover files (pc app) ..it isnt showing those contacts..want help.....hope anybody help..

If you haven't already, I'd suggest you stop using your sd card immediately. As you might know, the more you use your memory card now, there'll be a higher chance for your phone to overwrite the data/memory slots you are trying to recover.
You mentioned, you backed up your data before but ended up deleting it after a successful install. Was this folder in your extSd card? If yes, then this should be the main focus for your retrieval process. Which recovery software (the pc app) did you use to try to recover your files?
I would strongly recommend using EaseUS Data Recovery. I have personally used this software on more than a few occasions, and it was able to successfully recover formatted, deleted and to some extent overwritten data contents. I am asking you to consider this software because while recovering my recently lost data, I was able to recover files that I had deleted over two month ago and should have been lost for good.
EaseUS website - http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/
If you do decide to give this software a try, during the wizard, select Complete Recovery option instead of Deleted Files Recovery. Complete Recovery option will scan your entire partition and show you everything it can recover from images, videos to random data files.
And no matter which software you end up using, expect certain corrupted data depending on how much memory spots have been overwritten since you deleted your backup.
For the future, I would recommend Super Backup Pro - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts
If you give it a try, you'll see it offers an easy but comprehensive backup methods.
Hope you get your contacts back
EDIT : Forgot to mention, as far as I remember, the free version had only a limitation of 2GB data recovery I think, but you just need your backup so you should be good
Thanks alot..downloading now...will let u know soon

So i am here with a new idea. A rescue.zip which can be used to rescue any android device which have a recovery like the famous cwm.
So here is it..
Some times we people screw up our android os like hell, and to reboot the device we usualy do a recovery flash of a new os, flash back our nandroid backup ( both on worst conditions) or even do permission fix, clean cache or dalvic cache( those in 'not that worse' conditions) . So thats are all the options we got. Rit?
Although flashing recovery backups, new roms can fix all, it will also eatup our apps, current setups, contacts, msgs, etc( in case we dont have backups) and will probably screw us. All we can do is say " WTF..WTF..WTF.."
SO here is my idea,
Find out the causes of what causes a reboot, non-boot, hang,fc etc.
And keep a zip that can be flashed through recovery, that has a solution for our problem. They may be including..
1) fix permission of system, data, and user data.
2) zipalign the apps
3) fix the default clock speed of processor
4) defragment memory
5) flash a new copy of su and busy box
6)wipe data or system or ext or cache or dalvic cache
7) flash a new copy of framework.res, system-ui.apk, settings.apk with default permissions( those files are kept in separate "custom" folder on the zip, so that end user can put their own files to that "custom" folder for flashing., the reason behind it is known to all, yap. Not all devices have them in common, every device have its own files)
These are all i got for now, pls post ur ideas and knowledge for any possible cure about any problem u faced/ cured. So that we can make it an ultimate rescue.zip that have a cure for 99% problems android os have. The rest 1% will go with a clean flash.( well we cant avoid that if we did something that bad).
So my plan is to use aroma installer( now on hard learning to find how it works). Throw in some scripts, files etc. Into the zip.
And since its not a device specific .zip file, i want to know how and why any problems are caused in any device( there are many common problems, but that is not what i ask for. I ask for device/os specific problems, and not for a problem that we can cure after booting, but for a problem that can make the device un-bootable) . So u people may help me to find those problems and cures for it. For my knowledge i have experience with wildfire and hd2.
Well i will keep this thread for a week or two, so that u can post ur knowledge, and info. after that i will release the file for u.
To the admin. Of the forum, pls keep this thread as announcement so that all can take a look.
HYPERDROID EXTREEM EDITION-THE NEW BENCHMARK ROM FOR HD2.
If you plan to do this available to any android device, the file size will be so big that it will become useless. Every phone has different apk, and not only that, but those apk are different in different version of os. For example, CM9 framework should not work on google release. Worst, older CM9 framework might not work on newer CM9 and newer framework might not work on older. Also, one of the cause of bootloop that i have been experiencing since i have my GNexus is data corruption of apps. The only way i had was to wipe data. I dont think there is a way to know if your app are corrupted with script. I also seen a lot of strange problem on SGS II like the kernel being erased. Well, in this case this package would be useless. So i guess that having this package would be awesome, but wont happen. My best advice is that you could create a universal guide on how to recover from bootloop/fc/hang with the minimum of impact on the phone. This is just my opinion tho.

You could add using flags in the updates filename, see some roms or themes for the lg optimus 2x for more information. It uses sed. For example, "update-wc-wd.zip" would wipe /data and /cache.
You could also merge these features in a customized clockwork mod recovery, the up side would be that you could automatically make a backup of the last flashed full ROM's systemui etc. this would also allow usage of the touch screen/volume keys to choose an repair option. You could even allow users to backup specific applications along with their data, and let users restore it later on after a fresh flash. I have some basic knowledge in modifying the recovery so I might help you out a little if you're interested.

I told it already, the "custom" folder is not filled. It will be kept empty. The user can put a file, which ofcourse is the file of the device he/she have or want to get repaired. All he has to do is copy and paste the file from the working zip( zip file of his currently installed rom, that encounter the problem) of his rom to the custom folder inside the rescue.zip.
And the things that are common will be scripts, but those too will contains device specific mound points, paths, etc. I think that will be common( ie, the working of script, once the mound is done). Am i right?
So all i have to figure out is mount points, paths etc.. i got a couple of them, about 15 or so. And pls help me to find the rest.
HYPERDROID EXTREEM EDITION-THE NEW BENCHMARK ROM FOR HD2.
a good idea to add is a file system chech like windows systems has. By installing a rom the installer should first check for bad sectors and mem blocks before installing the rom. After all blocks and sectors are scanned and the bad ones marked as "bad or corrupt" it should run something like defrag and place the bad blocks at the end of the file table. When all is done .. then the true rom install should start.
This will prevent heaps of problems since the curent installs just write over a bad block or sector creating the most weird problems. A fault checker/repair will take away a lot of strange forced closes and othere software/hardware failures.
Most phones wont last that long so that bad blocks or sectors can occure. But for the flashing junkies among us its a serious problem what can occure. I guess after 1000 or more installs bad sectors or blocks will occure and not all are being able to be repaired

I am totaly newbee to lg. I have experience with htc, few samsung, etc. So can u pm me the details? Also is it usable to create recovery? I think a zip file with selectable options is more friendly. The thing is building a recovery wont make it universal( or atleast common for a couple of devices) and we will have to port them for each and every device. Thats the problem.
But any way i want ur help in building it. Can u pm me an example for mounding script in lg devices? And any thing that may become useful. Thank you.

I'll send this as a PM as well, but people might learn from this. I am not talking about any specific mount points for LG phones, I just pointed out that there are some roms which use sed to check the filename of its update.zip and do tasks according to that, you need to have one line in your updater script to run the script which detects what to do. That way a user of a Galaxy Nexus would rename it to update-maguro.zip and it would know to use mount points for the maguro, while if the exact same update.zip was to be named update-p990.zip, it would know to use the mount points for the LG optimus 2x. This way you could easily keep the zip up to date for any device, because they all use the same update.zip
About the recovery, you would need to build it for every phone once, but you could make one change to the recovery source and easily compile the recovery for all phones which are capable of running CWM. I believe this method to be more user friendly, as a recovery image has support for actually choosing what you want to do, instead of having to rename the file. A recovery image also has a better way of communicating with the user. Where a update.zip can only say "Hey, I had an error and I'm quitting now, I won't give you any details what the problem was because that's just how update.zips roll", a recovery image would be able to give more advanced outputs, like "An error occurred when trying to mount /data." And then give you the option to either try again, manually fix it by using a computer with adb, or quitting.
But that's just my personal opinion. The recovery would be way harder to make, but I was the original porter of CM6, CM7 and HTC Sense to the xperia mini pro and mini back in the days. I also made a custom recovery and roms for the HTC desire Z, maintain a CWM port for the HTC Chacha which I don't even own and have used the LG optimus 2x before. (currently a maguro owner) but I'm trying to say that I've been experimenting a lot with different phones and know what the possibilities of Android are. you could even make a live Android build, tailored for recovering your phone, which is ran by an update.zip! How cool is that? That would be VERY device specific though..
let me know what you think is the best way to do this. I was thinking of making a mobile time machine app for some time so it's good I saw this thread.
Galaxy Device Encryption application.
I downloaded yesterday and encryted the galaxy s2. I really admired the encryption process.
The problem is that, when I decrypted it, the phone rebooted and all my applications are gone. It was as if the phone has been hard reset. I still see that my system storage still has the applications as the size has not changed. However I cannot install any new application and I really need your help. I have done all that I know as a computer engineer.
I need your help and I know you can help me. Thank you for your antiscipated favour.
Personally don't know. Have you checked with the application developer?
Should done a full backup before such a risky maneuver.
This is a problem with most of the new ICS roms out now
Both my AT&T S2 and my Kindle Fire are both hanging on the encryption provision (needed for Outlook). We think it may be due to all the apps being downloaded first before we config the phone/tablet. In some cases, there isn't much room left. So I am trying that now..
Any help here would be great.. I get just the Droid, no output of progress.

There are two things that you can try, if not tried yet...
I'm not sure this would work or not but it's worth a shot.
one is that you can use a root file browser ( like Root Explorer or anything ), browse the data partition and if you find applications in the app directory copy it (if not all then at least data/app and data/data directories) to some external card then do a data wipe and copy these back...
another way could be that you try out the Titanium backup app and see if it is able to list out your apps...if it does then back them up and do a data wipe and restore that backup.
And you might also consider using some third party launcher......it might also list out all your apps and if it does .....then just clear the data/cache for TWlauncher and then you might see your apps again...
Hello there,
it is one of the best phone and the easiest to recover or update in my opinion but,
the issue of no memory card is really something bad for your files in case if something happened to the phone!
i know backup is so important but what if you phone crashed all of the sudden because of an application update and you will enter in the repeated boot loops and you have to reset the phone or flash new software!!
OH! Then your will loose everything in the mobile !
it is really sad it happened to me twice in2 weeks i lost allot of good pictures.
i am sure most of the phone users tried to recover the lost files and no one could do it because the phone is identified as MTP, no logical letter drive can be assigned to the phone!!!
All recover software’s couldn’t find the phone and even when i tried hexcomp from the market to recover the pictures, couldn’t do it.
my question for our developers is there any scripts can make the phone work as usb when it is switched off ??
or ,
is there any way to assign a logical drive to the phone instead of MTP so we can recover the lost files?
I don’t know why Goggle didn’t think of such problem because it happened to allot of people and I am not used to back up my files before because there were in memory card.
I really hope the developers will work on such issue because this is the worst thing I found it in the phone.
I might be wrong but I think you can pull everything off the phone using adb whilst in recovery mode?
Dropbox.
It can sync pictures as soon as you take them.
You can sync files between multiple devices, including uploading and downloading to your phone.
Titanium Backup can be synced to drop box.
Check it out,

Theoretically you probably could write a CWM script to create a virtual folder and mount that as USB media via CWM. But it would require loading the script to the phone via ADB anyways.
This has also been discussed before:

My Note 2 N7100 is slow when i want to drag som picture/folders over to my pc, it freezes and my phone can't always be reconized by my pc (unknown usb devise), after i tried to make a backup of my pictures on my micro hcsd i thought i need to take it out(to make it less slow) to se if theres something i need to back up on the intern sd card, took out my 30gb trancend card while my phone was on and now i have none of my usual contacts on my phone (normally stored on my gmail account).

U said dropbox download the pictures to your internal storage .. You still can take the pictures from internal to external using file managers app ..
Put pictures on external .. Backup the apps using something like titanium backup also to external .
Go to your recovery philz or twrp are good..
Wipe everything (internal sdcard, system, data, factory reset, etc..)(except external ofc)
Install a fresh ROM..
Restore your apps ..
That usually would fix any problem ..
For which AOSP ROM,
Carbon ROM is the best .. I use latest nightly usually.

How do i download something from dropbox? I wanted to install simplistic framwork 3.6 but i couldn't download it from dropbox (i can install the controll app).
Have this problem where i want to upgrade to ver 3.6 of simlistic framwork but i cant remeber how to do it, it pisses me off, because i just want it to work and cant remember if it's oxeded or deoxeded and whwn i try to install it i get the som gui that stops working.
Dropbox does not download the pictures, but the touchwiz implementation with it makes it download them. Deactivate it in cloud settings. You download pictures by favouriting them in the Dropbox app.
If you use camera upload, the pictures should not be deleted if you delete them from your picture gallery, unless of course you're deleting from the camera upload folder.
Simplistic framework is flashed from a custom recovery, like cwm or twrp, if you use a custom rom, then you probably want the deodexed variant. Wipe dalvik and cache after flashing.

Is there a easiest way?
I had tried hexamob recovery, DiskDigger and others apps but it was a failure. I need to recover photo files, .txs, specific .xmls, ect. I need to recover smsbackup&restore files and notes files from colornote dating from 2011
Its 2014 and cant believe yet there is no easy way (those software like android file recovery, android data recovery, etc etc are useless since they cant detect phone´s internal memory.)

flash clockwork recovery , if you dont knows how to flash cwm recovery, rply me your cell information, but if you knows how to flash clockwork recovery then, then in clockwork recovery, mount your internal storage to the pc, mounting will create your internal storage drive in pc not a syncronous device, then use data recovery softwares, download from here http://kickass.to/power-data-recovery-v4-6-0-crack-rezman1984-7z-t2155009.html , then install data recovery software and install the crack, then open recovery softare, then choose your internal storage drive, choose deep scan process, it will deeply scan your internal storage, and try to recover all the files from the day of manufacture, hope you will get your data back ! rply me if you dont knows how to flash clockwork data recovery i will guide you, and rply yours cell os's information also, hit thanks button if i had helped you, i am new in xda developers and want to become senior member !

I had been searching and googling spending all night awake but couldnt find a "modest" way to restore the deleted files from internal memory of my ZL. I found threads asking the same thing and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994705 but its for galaxy phones, despite being for other phone I guess that process could work but its pretty difficult to me to understand all.
Is there a easiest way?
I had tried hexamob recovery, DiskDigger and others apps but it was a failure. I need to recover photo files, .txs, specific .xmls, ect. I need to recover smsbackup&restore files and notes files from colornote dating from 2011
Its 2014 and cant believe yet there is no easy way (those software like android file recovery, android data recovery, etc etc are useless since they cant detect phone´s internal memory.)

using my above method, you can recover your media files and i guess .xmls also, but no sms and no contact !
I could recover some of the files that I wanted thanks to a very old backup I found in my pc. It wasnt all the updated info I wanted but at least I recovered something. So I get what I got and already give up with that xP. Its a shame about the pictures because those are pics of a Filippa Giordano concert xP. My problem right know its I dont have time because Im taking school tests :/ but the info you gave me sounds good, in theory it may work. I know how to flash clockmood recovery in HTC but I guess is pretty much similar the process with Xperia, If I got time I´ll give it a try, thanks for this info and I hope ppl who are in the same problem could read this and give it a try.
