I m looking for a nice case on eBay that is not more than $50. Which case is your favorite and why?

I dont usually buy on ebay so i cant help much there. But i can tell you all the cases ive tried.
Otterbox Defender - did not fit well so i did not purchase at the store. Screen protector is lousy. Phone rattled in case.
Casemate Toughcase - again did not fit my gsm nexus well. Gaps in silicone and i do not like the larger than necessary gap between the usb and headphone plugs. Also was a dust magnet. Should have learned my lesson with the first toughcase i tried for my galaxy s.
Diztronic TPU - have two of these. Rev 1 both in matte black and matte smoke. Great cases except the volume rocker section but Rev 3 should address that. I recommend.
Rearth Ringke Slim - currently using this case. Color i have is matte black and it is a great case.
Case Mate POP! It is not too bulky, offers good protection, good grip without attracting lint. Fits the extended battery perfectly.

I have the casemate pop and Love it, but I need to use my ebay bucks so I figured why not get another case.
Had 3 cases for my Nexus as my review for them are as follows:
Case-Mate Barely There - Price was too high considering the kind of case you were getting. As it's known for, it provides very little protection but was also very slim. I would have less issue with it if it covered the top and bottom of the phones fully but it oddly didn't. With it on, it looked more like a shell instead of a case. I would not recommend this as it seems like you are paying for brand name here. Might as well get a full body protector from Zagg or Ghost Armor instead of this IMO.
Otterbox Commuter - This was a good case. If you are looking for something that will protect your phone without being extreme (like using the Defender) then this is perfect. Adds bulk for protection but also looks great as well. Best of both worlds and recommended for those that want above average protection while not needing it to look like a beast. Fairly difficult to take off so don't get it if you get into opening up your phone a lot.
Diztronic TPU Matte Smoke Grey - This was the best of the bunch for me. Price wise, it can't be beat at $10.00 with a workable screen protector. Looks wise, smoke grey is beautiful on the Nexus as it looks natural (Nexus is grey to begin with). It adds only a little bulk so it doesn't look like a case swallowed your phone. Feel wise, matte is definitely the way to go. I've had glossy cases before and it always left grime, oil, and fingerprints. Matte feels and looks very clean and provides a little grip. Protection wise, I'd say it provides average protection. I've always used TPU cases and they can take drops from normal heights. TPU is fine for my rather un-extreme lifestyle. Finally, Diztronic's customer service is top notch. Had an issue with the volume keys and they are sending me out a replacement case with the keys cut out. No need to return the old one. Would definitely buy from them again because of that as I have high confidence that they can rectify any issues.
So there you have my mini-reviews. It is obvious that I favor Diztronic as they seem to hit the sweet spot for my preferences. Best of all words in all the things that are important to me.
Hope you guys find a case that works well for you too.

I don't know if they have one for nexus but case-mate barely there series of cases are cool because they are the thinnest but are still shatter proof. I have never liked adding bulk to my phone with a case so it works for me.

They may be shatter proof, but they only protect the better cover and rear sides of the phone. It's a half-solution at best. Waiting on Rearth and will report back.

Case-Mate Tough Case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420043 they're working on it.
I had bought a Case Mate Tough skin case for my phone, and it's had a lot of issues with the power button fit, it would turn off and on by touching the area anywhere near it. I looked around case-mate.com and noticed this case is not on their website, so I contacted Case Mate and they say it's a known issue, and are going to ship me a new one when they come in sometime during in the next 2-4 weeks.. Good customer relations.

Ghost Armor...
No added bulk, adds just enough extra grip, protects from scuffing/scratching. Obviously, not gonna give the same shock protection in a fall.. but then I've seen guys with TPU cases drop the phone and shatter a screen. (with gorilla glass)

Just got my Seidio Active today. As with all Seidio cases, it is awesome. I had the Incipio double case from Verizon, which is a similar concept. But the Active is a lot smoother and looks way better. Great amount of protection, minimal bulk. I actually prefer the way it feels with the case on compared to bare. It gives a nice feeling to the volume/power buttons.
As a bonus, I got the Royal Blue one, and the color perfectly matches the blue theme of ICS. I highly recommend it. There is also a version with a kickstand, too. Here is a link to what I got.

I'm a bit of a Seidio fanboy, as all of my devices have Active cases on them. But you can't really beat the protection and style. No huge logos, and the color of the hard shell really gives it a nice look. Dropping the phone with the case on barely does anything to the case, let alone the phone.

I have the kickstand-ed version and I must agree that it is a really well designed enclosure system. Works really well with the extended battery/cover. My previous Seidio case was the Active Extended for the Thunderbolt and that setup was the main reason why I decided on Seidio.
This is my favorite case and its probably the best value.
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Ga...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
It features 3 layers including the screen protector and doesn't make the phone huge, yet keeps the phone well protected. $29.99 and I couldn't be happier.

I ordered myself the matte black tpu from Diztronic.
kch ugh
Nice quick review!
I gave both of these cases a fair go. Both of them I ran with for a week. I've decided to stick with my Diztronic TPU. Honestly. both cases are great.
Both cases are easy the slip in and out of pocket. Although slightly thicker, the Cruzerlite is still very slim. Does feel like it would offer a bit more protection in a fall. Since I have never dropped a phone my deciding factor, which might seem stupid to some people, is that the clear Cruzerlite case would get dust buildup from pocket lint and you'd visually be able to see it at the edges of the case. That can easily be fixed by purchasing a non-transparent Cruzerlite case.
The Diztronic case, my only problem with is most of the case fairly slick. What gives me a good grip on the phone is the rim of the case where you put the phone through. It's a different plastic finish from the rest of the case which is much easier to grip with your fingers. I kind of prefer it that way.
Just my opinion on these two.

I'll add my 2 cents even though I can't do an apples to apples comparison. I was never a fan of protective cases, I never used them with my Samsung Fascinate in the 2 years that it was my primary device. That was until the screen broke on my 3 month old SGS3.
While Samsung was repairing my phone, I did some research and decided on a Diztronic matte dark blue case. It's a great quality product. The TPU material is thin but pretty stiff and the fit on the phone is tight, removing the case causes the battery cover to get unsnapped 90% of the time. The cutouts are perfectly positioned (although I would actually prefer covered lock/power and volume buttons, read on). The matte finish actually makes the cover a little more slippery both in hand and when sitting on other surfaces, but I perfer the way the case looks. Also the case has a solid company behind it, when my case arrived, I noticed it the color was actually back and not dark blue. I emailed customer service at Diztronic and they let me know that their latest batch of dark blue covers were in fact darker than earlier batches. They sent me one from an earlier batch at no cost.
In the meantime, I acquired a CruzerLite gloss black case for my Fascinate. The TPU material is a little bit thicker and more flexible than the Diztronic. The case also fit looser than the Diztronic although there is no risk that the cover will fall off when being removed from a pocket like silicon cases. The lock/power and volume buttons are covered (raised and appears to be the same thickness as the rest of the case), but I had no issue using them. The cutouts are in the right places, but there is an extra cutout on the case on the side that does seem to have any reason for being there (maybe another phone shaped like the Fascinate has a use for it). The gloss finish is pretty sticky, especially when the phone is sitting on something smooth. I had no concerns leaving the phone sitting on the leather passenger seat in my car when driving. I would rate this case one step below Diztronic in terms of overall quailty, but will keep on using it as my Fascinate is now being used as a game system for my kids.
I also wound up buying a no-name TPU case (from Amazon) for a Pantech Burst I recently bought (from eBay). While the overall quality of the case leaves something to be desired compared to either the Diztronic or CruzerLite, it does have one feature I wish both the Diztronic and CruzerLite cases had. The lock/power and volume button on the case is covered, but the material in those locations is both raised and significantly thinner than the rest of the cover. IMHO this is the way to go for these buttons.
Hope this helps folks figure out which case to get.
I just got the Diztronic yesterday and I am quite pleased. Nice fit, nice feel, nice look. I even used the screen protector that came with it and it's not half bad.
Just dropping my 2 cents. The diztronic for the matte/clear model.. it gets rather dirty easily so if you happen to get your hands dirty regularly and need to use the phone. Just know the clear will start to change color.

Agree with this 100%. I used the case for 3 months then threw it away cause it got so dirty and ugly.
So after seeing pictures of it for a while and finally seeing peoples reviews for the case i finally bought the infinity white case. I already had a couple of ebay cases while i was waiting to get something a little more "premium" so i pulled the trigger on the Neo Hybrid. I received it today and have to say it is not what i expected.I already knew about the buttons being too sensitive and the case being more purple than blue so no surprises there, but being advertised as a tpu case i thought this would fit the phone much more tightly the way every tpu case ive ever bought off of ebay for $2 has felt. the tpu portion of the case was either made too large or from a different kind of material because it feels loose on the phone to me. the bumper that goes around the case is meant to keep the tpu tight to the phone, and perhaps add another layer of protection but it tpu along the front of the screen feels very loose and is even a bit sharp to the touch because of its square shape. this is the case i had been using for the past month and i loved the feel, but not so much the look of it. I actually couldnt decide which color i wanted and bought the orange one as well a couple of days ago and it looks like ill be sending them both back in favor of my $4 ebay case.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-PC-TP...670415?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1e6f7fe08f
Just a quick question, did you get the Neo Hybrid Lumi or the Color?
it was the color series with the purple/blue case and white bumper frame, now i have an orange lumi on order and i can only assume it is going to have the same feel to it. way more bummed about how loose the case feels and the way the rim around the screen is really jagged feeling and not rounded at all.
I've got an orange Lumi coming in today, I'll post anything if it disappoints. They looks so damn good in the pictures, especially with the white GS3. I just had to pull the trigger

the case looks nice but be ready not to use it or modify it so the buttons work. I already emailed them and sent pics in. The little bumpers are way to high so it causes the sensitivity to go through the roof
I don't have one yet but I am very disappointed in the colour selection. How can you not have a black/black like all the others before it? The old ones never sagged on me so I personally want a black/black with the good old silicon and polycarbonate frame.
Don't see it happening though.
SGP products suck in terms of "fit", I had an ultra thin air for my SII, the worst case ever, since then I decided not to purchase sgp again.

I ordered their leather pouch because I seriously loved their screen protectors. The pouch was so tight I had to use a razor blade to cut the seams to remove my phone. The pull tab broke off as I was trying to remove my phone with it.
i think theres something to be said for mass producing cases. all the generic ebay tpu cases seem to fit perfect, havent had an issue yet. they all fit nice and snug, cutouts are perfect, the buttons arent as tactile and clicky as more expensive cases but theyre still easy to press
I agree with the OP, I got the neo hybrid lumi in green and I think that this case just feels cheaply made, this is definitely not worth paying $26. My cheap tpu case I got off eBay for 3 bucks is 100 times better than this. The camera cut off holes for this aren't even properly aligned and the case does not fit the phone very well. And also with the issue with the buttons. I highly suggest that no one should buy this case. It's a terrible case and cheaply made and over priced. I'm disappointed with the way this case turned out. I put a bad review on SGPs website to warn other buyers but they would not even post my review. Screw you SGP lol

Hey Angie have you had any other cases for your gs3? If you notice while the case is on the phone the bit that runs around the edge of the screen can be moved very easily. The band is what makes the case stick to the phone and difficult to take off. My dislike is with the actual tpu case. Which is much more flimsy and soft than most tpu cases
no the band is the only thing that fits the phone well, im referring to the bit on tpu that sticks out past the band around the edge of the front glass, if you nudge it at all its very lose and also is very angular and uncomfortable to touch
angie4u said:
that is so weird because i have no issues with the cameras and holes not aligning with the cutouts, as you can see from the pictures. And the fit is very snug. This is my first SGP case purchase so did I just get lucky? I haven't use the Incipio so I cant compare the two but in terms of bulkiness, I don't find this to be bulky at all. it's very thin and sleek. However, if you are looking for something that's very durable, this might not be the case for you.
Click to collapse
Yeah I think you did get lucky, because the cut out on mine was not even centered like how it is with yours. The holes on mine came down more to where the camera, lights and speakers are. And in the front, the top part of the tpu covered the silver bezel but hardly covered the bottom part. Close enough to where it looks like the tpu was sagging. I was so pissed that I literally wanted to cover the case in gasoline and burn it for how ****ty, it was lol. I honestly think that the feel of the case just feels so cheap. I have a few other tpu cases I purchased on eBay at a much cheaper price that felt more of a high quality than that piece of crap that sgp made lol. But alas, I returned it back to sgp with an e-mail stating that they did a piss poor job with the case lol.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I guess I'm another of the lucky ones. My cutouts fit perfect, and I have no issues (besides the whole oversensitive buttons issue) but I can relate to the whole "looseness" thing.
As far as TPU cases go, the NeoHyb is definitely not cut to be "tight-fitting" like the some of the other TPU cases I've seen. Without the band, the TPU base IS loose fitting.
With the plastic band though, the entire assembly is tight enough that any attempts to pull it off usually takes the battery cover along with it.
Also, the TPU is more pliable and softer then most other TPU cases I've seen, which makes the "loose" feeling even worse, but I take it it's made that way for better impact absorption.
It's definitely not soft and stretchy like silicone though, which I hate.
So, is the NeoHybrid a perfect case? No. The plastic band is too thin, too slippery. The TPU back is not rough enough. The buttons don't really work without modifications. The TPU rim around the screen, as the OP said, feels "sharp" enough out of the box to be slightly uncomfortable.
Yet, for some God forsaken reason, I like the bloody bugger and I think 20 odd dollars is a fair price for it - considering I've dropped the phone a couple of times already and the case has been doing what it's paid for with aplomb.
YMMV though.
I DO have the Incipio Faxion - another TPU/Polycarb hybrid case I've seen out there - on order though, and plan to do a comparo as soon as it arrives.
Considering I got both at around the same price, it should be an interesting comparison.
I think people are being unreasonable here. This case isn't supposed to be as hard as other TPU cases. That is why there is a polycarbonate hard frame. The whole design philosophy of the Neohybrid is super soft inside with hard shell structural support. I am glad they went for the silicon feel.
The capdase soft jacket feels basically like silicon for anyone going for that type of case. The modello is quite hard by the way. Almost as rigid as a hard snap on shell.

I have the same one and I like it a lot but I miss the dimple
The power support shell is slimmer than the in case and comes with an anti scratch coating. The shell is nice in that there are no seams on the inside so it has less chance of scratching your phone. Haven't had the chance to really test it as I'm waiting for my moto x replacement but I'll snap some pics afterward. If you are into the hard minimalist case big don't want to introduce scratches, this seems the best option for now.

Received Anker case. Despite being sandy texture, the case is very slippery.
It also does not protect all corners. Highly disappointed, because its look is very nice.
Why don't all cases have the moto indentation on the back confuses me.
i bought both the poetic pallete and the bear motion cases. of the 2, i like the bear motion better with the grippier texture. However, that said, neither fit my phone well at all and won't stay locked into place. YMMV
I have bought the anker sandpaper, incipio feather, poetic, as well as two bumper cases from some HK-based vendor. Of the 3 minimalist "cases", I use the incipio the most. Truth be told, the poetic has a better (but nearly identical) texture to it, but the bottom is shaped in such a way where it digs into my small finger when holding it (I have my finger running parallel along the very bottom). If the incipio kept the dimple, it'd be my daily driver. I use the bumper cases more often than not and whenever I do grab one of the minimalist ones, it's always the incipio.

I have the Incipio Folio which includes a feather. Basically, you have a the feather case, and then you can snap that into a wallet style flip case. The only gripe I have about the feather is it contours to the phone too well... If you have the phone on a flat surface it just spins and flops around if you poke at it.
Been using the neo hybrid for a bit only issue is it adds some bulk because of its square design, also the fact that its not that grippy doesnt help.
Thinking of returning it for a better slimmer case. Any suggestions?

For full phone coverage the Diztronic tpu case is fairly thin. For a little less protection the Rinke slim hard case is very thin and keeps the original feeling of the phone.

The Spigen case probably does not offer the same drop protection since it is a plastic shell, but I like that it at least feels like the phone (both colors' feel/texture are well matched to each phone color's feel/texture), and retains the phone's slim design. My only warning would be to add 4 tiny strips of Scotch tape inside the edges of this case, since some people have reported the case scratching their phone sides upon removal.
I do not recommend ultra fit

been researching through all the cases espcially the slim ones. Both spigen and ringkes slim one can scratch up the phone and are really sharp on the edges... might just go naked with screen protector , the black nexus 5 feels so good in the hands =)
Mine has no sharp edges. Guess I got lucky!
U should check out skins. I heard good things about dbrand

came to my conclusion from a lot of people's experiences
Snap on case for Nexus 5
I use this Snap on case for my N5 and it really goes well with the look of my phone and do complete justice with it....the case quality is very fine..fine grip..not slippery..can also lay my phone on the table from screen side no worries..protects the phone from both upper and downward ends...and as it is too a kick stand one so I too enjoy the media viewing on it.....I like this one...so you can give a try to it...may be you like it...
thanks !!!
I use a suede pouch for the Nexus 5. Check out sfbags .
Thank you...Jimmy..I had considered...the Amzer case...indeed the texture looks very grippy...and..the kickstand is a nice feature as well...what do you think..about the durability of the kickstand?...I have read in a few reviews..that the kickstand breaks after the first few uses...let us know..what you think...thanks..
I picked up a couple of $3 cheap Chinese imports from Ebay. TPU, gloss black "bumper" with matte-black back. Super thin, just thick enough to negate the camera lens bump. I wish I could tell you the brands, but "generic" is all that comes to mind. One did have a little seam ridge along the very outside edge - which I took care of with a disposable razor. Just shave it off.
Diztronic matte TPU case will meet your needs

Same here, I ordered a matte black hard plastic case. Exact same feel as the actual phone and is very slim. For 1.68 free shipping how can you go wrong?!
Ringke slim. Feels like the same exact phone with our a case on but providing protection for the lenses

Using Spigen Slim Armor. To me, doesn't add me bulk or weight. The back isn't very slick (although it shows fingerprints and smudges pretty easy, but they wipe off just as easily). I like it, very pleased with it. I did get one of the defective ones, but it was replaced very quickly, and now it's fine.

I bought this case off eBay:

Out of 3 different cases I bought (neo hybrid, bumper, s line) it was the cheapest. To my surprise it also is the best fitting. Felt comfortable in the hand, easy to grip and hold, doesn't feel like its going to slip out of your hand like the neo hybrid.
The neo hybrid is a nice case, but it feels awkward and uncomfortable due to is solid square design. Spigen needs to redesign it with curves around the back for better geip., but it just feels huge to hold in comparison to the eBay one I linked too, and a naked nexus 5

The rearth slim is as close as you'll get to the naked n5
NX5
I've had ultra slim, neo hybrid, unicorn beetle, cruzerlite experience, and the Diztronic matte. The Diztronic won. Makes the phone actually feel better to hold and is minimalist.

I agree completely. This diztronic does truly fit the phone like a glove and makes it better to hold. Love it! My 2nd phone with a case from them and they have won over a customer for every phone they support from now on.
