If you're talking about Settings: System Update: Update PRL / Update Profile / Update Samsung Software / Update Firmware, don't do it.
I updated my PRL and it sucked down the latest Sprint PRL. I had to put a cricKet PRL back on the phone to fix it.
I tried the Update Profile option and it sucked down all of the information from the previous (Sprint) user, including their phone number (NAM), their mobile network settings ([email protected] instead of [email protected], etc.). I had to re-flash the phone.
It did allow me to update the Samsung software and it did allow me to update the firmware without incident, however, I am running a Sprint ROM. If you are running a custom ROM (including rooted Sprint ROMs), I would not recommend using any of the above menu options.
Hope this helps!

I just updated to stock 4.4.2 Kitkat on my i747 (and then rerooted). However, since I'm using the phone on T-Mobile network, I get an "Mobile data not available or invalid sim" error when I switch on Hotspot.
I know in past firmware, the were mods that changed or removed the Tetheringprovision.apk but those threads warn not to use such mods in any other firmware except Jelly Bean.
Does anyone have a workaround to get Hotspot working on 4.4.2 yet?
anyone?
anyone?
I recently flashed my triband L710T to Team OctOS's 5.1.1 rom. I had to manually add the RingPlus APNs that I found on another thread. Right now I only have 2 APNs setup- one for LTE and one for EHRPD. Everything seems to work fine... LTE and 3G data, though I have not tried MMS.
Now, I had downloaded an RingPlus APN fix for 4.4.2 which I never flashed. I looked into the settings it uses and I found that it adds a total of 7 APNs. There are a few OTA ones which I don't currently have setup. Do I really need these? What do I not know I'm missing?
Not sure. Could you post up your APN settings?
My LG G2 (LS980ZV8) jellybean doesn't accept apn switch, i tried creating a new apn but it keeps reverting to the one there, any help?
Why you didn't update your G2 to LP (5.0.2) ZVI rom? It also rootable through kingroot. And in it you can swithch all what you want.
Did the OTA update last night from lollipop. Straight talk. Have to use an apn to use data. None of the APN settings work from ST website, looked up some fixes where you would proxy tracfone/cingular, but that didn't work either. I don't know what else to do but flash 5.1.1 back on to the phone. I've never done that before but I found a guide, got Odin, Kies, and all that **** downloaded, only thing I can't find is 5.1.1 firmware file. Can anyone help me find it or know how to fix the APN settings so I can have data again on 6.0.1?
