[HELP]Why my ram is above 160.

I have freezed the unuseful apps and im usin startup auditor, Why my ram is still too high? What can i do? Please help

Try Supercharger or [email protected]'s scripts. The threads are just a few blocks down.

Well v6 isnt effecting too, i used build prop. i wanna use local prop. its effective.

I use auto memory manager and my ram stays between 90 to 120 without any special scripts!! Try it and tell me if it wrks

IMO having less ram is not a good idea in android device. android device has different ram management. when an app is started, it will be stored in ram's cache to make it started faster when it started again. when the ram is almost full, it will automatically delete ram's cache and stop some some app. in this way, android devices will have better performance and battery saving. its almost useless to clear ram except in some cases when we need a huge ram space to run a big program.

I dont understand you. When i clear ram its 80+ but now its 130+

You shouldn't run after cleaning your ram

I'm having 220+ ram for average use. my zenonia 4 is running smoothly and never got a problem with any app. as I've said, android device will store recently used app in its ram cache. thats why the ram usage will raise rigth after you clear your ram and start to use some app. this is normal and won't affect in your device's performance much. I thought our ram setting is balanced between running app, background app, and system app. you can change the setting with ram manager pro or minfree to have more space for running app and background app.

Exactly! So much of fuss about RAM. My RAM consumption is always 240+, even after a reboot. Never had any problems.

240 is my minimum RAM usage. Well, Go Launcher, Go SMS, Go Notification, Go Locker and AI Type Keyboard are always running in the background. xP

more ram doesn't always mean your device will consume more battery. yes, its true that our device use more battery power to start up the program, write the onto the ram and run them. nevertheless, linux have unique method to save more battery. after a program is minimized, the program is not erased from the ram. it will be stored in ram's cache. in this way, our device could start the program without write the program onto the ram again. this method will avoid to repeatedly write and erase the program on the ram which consume a lot of battery power. this is also the reason why most android program doesn't have exit option.

owwww , thanx , i hav a bad habit of clearing ram every now and then , even if it is at 130 or 150 ..
m not gona clear it now unless system be lagging

that's normal if you have 160 ram that's the lowest ram that i've reach in my galaxy y even i press the clear memory its still 160 or below... if you feel that your galaxy y is lagging why you dont want to try Andrenaline Engine that imbawin made even if you reach 200+ ram it still fast even your ram are 60MB left

I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 tablet. But it consumes too much ram.
This causes instability and excessive battery usage.
Do I have any chance about this?

Android isn't compareable to windows in ram usage. Your tab will run smoother if 1gig is used instead of 600mb, because some data is still in the memory which means faster app starts...
If android needs more ram it cleans the memory itself

Then it's something you installed, because out of the box it's fine.

How did you make that connection?
There are multiple posts here about RAM usage on this tablet and many more about RAM usage in Android. You don't need to worry about your RAM, OS does a good job managing it.

I Use "Clean Master" to montior my RAM usage and it always shows ram usage is around 92%
I didn't install too much stuff. A couple of games which I play rarely and a few drawing apps.

IMHO a memory monitor could mess up with normal memory management, because if it is set to a too restrictive policy it could try to free memory that OS will reuse at once, and so on.
I would suggest trying to use your tablet without the memory monitor, then compare the behavior.

How does used ram cause battery drain? It does not. What causes battery drain is when your cpu is getting used. When your apps aren't precached your cpu will have to work a bit harder every time you start an app. Also your memory monitoring app will use more cpu cycles than it will save you. What you could look out for are apps that consume lots of cpu power. Sometimes apps are badly coded and consume lots of power. Those kinds of apps will most likely show up in the battery stats in the settings menu. No external apps are needed. They usually cause more harm then good.

Yes maybe you are right. I managed to improved battery life. But I can't say the same for RAM usage.
Compared to my Sony Xperia Z1, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 responds real slow. Although it has more RAM. (2GB vs 3 GB)
I did a research about speeding up it. But couldn't come up with a sollution.

More ram doesn't really make a device faster. Nowadays it's a lot more about the software and drivers etc.. Samsung sometimes neglects that and focuses on adding software stuff that they can advertise. I wrote a guide on speeding the device up. It assumes you have root, but you can just see how many apps you can disable in the settings. Might be enough.
After applying all the steps and keeping my device clean it's the fastest tablet I ever had in my hands.

More ram usage is a sign of more services running.... which means there is loads of stuff running in your background..
If I dont run a single app my ram has 1.3 Gig ram left... go to application manager and check whats running... if you see stuff you dont need freeze it with titanium backup.. or unistall if you are sure its not needed.. your system does not simply use more ram randomly...

RAM is there to be used. Free RAM is useless RAM. The more RAM it's using, the lower the battery usage because it doesn't have to go to flash memory for data.

I found the problem. It is TouchWiz.
After disabling it and installing a new launcher, Nova Prime, I have no ram and lag issues.
Yes I agree about ram thing but with a huge amount of ram usage multi-tasking is not efficent.

Been running Nova Prime with Lag for several months, still lags. Disable the card reduces the lag a bit. That though is not an option.

Help my 3 year old workhorse survive into 2015! Ram choking at under 100mb free is...

Hi guys, so my 3 year old Gnex VZW verison has served me well but I find it just chokes itself so quickly (ram free under 100mb) so I need your help! I have gone back to 4.2.2 stock (rooted and xposed framework) and this is what I find happening,,
In no time flat, 25 apps/services are loaded in memory, I have tried Advanced task Killer, Greenify, smartbooster and none really do the trick. My pain in the butt combination of apps getting stuck in recents menu that I have to clear manually, then advance task kill then greenify just to prevent the Nexus from chocking itself is a chore.
My gnex cannot be the only one that chokes so hard so fast, at no time does it ever have more than 300mb ram free (even after fresh boot) and after just a few minutes of use i'm choking at just under 100mb (to the point things take for ever to load until I clear, clear, clear), so help me obi-wan kenobi, you're my only hope!

* update, root plus greenify and no task killers installed seems to keep the gnex running pretty decent. Still have to clear out recent apps all the time to free up ram but at least greenify keeps most apps from loading unnecessarily and hogging ram/resources

What I have done are in the past are:
1. I got a Kitkat rom and installed bsmitty's Dirty V Kernel SR (Super Ram) version. It adds (or more like, retrieves) about 60mb of ram, if I am not mistaken. Anyhow, when your phone is chocking like that, 60mb might be the life-saver.
2. Uninstall apps you don't use! At some point, you are installing apps like crazy while not uninstalling the ones that you seldom use... and they end up being memory hogs. This has been by far the best solution for me. My Gnex on the latest Lollipop rom is running comfortably with 320mb rams free max. Most of the time, it runs with at least 200 mb of rams free.
+Apps like FB are especially heavy. Just uninstall them and add them to your bookmarks. I found this effective in terms of releasing ram.

I'll look into Kernel SR but you might look into greenify, it allows you to hibernate apps (like Facebook) until the user launches it, you basically can keep all those apps from auto-launching as android allows and keeps them out of memory (automatically) until called upon. The task managers along with greenify were cancelling each other out, task managers would bring things out of hibernation just for greenify to hibernate them, it was a vicious circle until i uninstalled task killer and have greenified only

Thanks for the suggestion, I really appreciate it. I have already used it before though, and because I am a light-user, I gained little utility from installing greenify. Hope you figure out a way to get your phone running smoothly without ram-choking.

Didn't feel any different changes Enable/Disable System/User Apps!

I do not much see any different in 1 week after Enable /Disable system/user apps in my device(8/128) gb operating with CCSWE App Manager Pro.
Still High 3gb Ram Usage per system vs apps in system start up!
I've just daily usage as (Fb, Messenger,What' App, Chrome, IDM, PUBg,Asphalt-9). Hell_No. !!

RAM is there to be used! No need to free it, what's the point of it? The more apps are loaded in RAM, the faster they start. You have 6 GB of RAM, and only 3 GB in use, that is good

Bloatware or unwanted software can be removed, disabled or, when rooted, removed. But that has little to do with RAM. Disabling apps won't appear in app drawer, and removing them will free (a little) storage space.

Disable animations in developers settings.
Reduce motion in settings
Install greenify and use it in non root mode.
We have sd675 and it will have its limits.
As for Facebook lag, disable video autoplay and clear cache

I followed the Galaxy S10/9 guides on disabling via ADB to get rid of things like Bixby and other Samsung bloatware. Never had an issue with RAM but I like the idea of fewer icons in the app drawer, fewer notifications and fewer apps with potential to run in the background or eat up my data allowance for no reason. I have to say that this method along with using AdGuard DNS has pretty much done away with my usual desire to root.

RAM Leak

Hi,
i guess Stock Pie has a Memory Leak and Garbage collector doesnt work.
I background restricted some apps in Settings but all of them still works on background. I cant see them on the Task Manager but i can see the Ram usage on AIDA64 app.
What i did:
- i set background restriction to these apps. (64 app restricted)
- i select app restrict behavior to Frequent. (for all of them)
- Task manager is empty.
- Cant see these leaked apps even on Android 9's built in Ram usage feature.
- i tryed kill apps when leave feature on the developer options. (These apps garbage still stays on the Ram)
- i even set background app limit 4 (Somehow developer options closed it self and everything i set reverted back to stock when i restart my phone)
But apps still eats the Ram from the background. I know because i can see Ram details on the AIDA64 app.
Phone starts with ~1600'ish mb available Ram. Available Ram decreases when i open-close these background restricted apps. (Hey! I am restricting apps because i dont want them working on the background. Like a Google Translator, Mi Remote, Hd Wallpapers app etc. i restricted all but these apps still works.) If my phone's Ram decrease everything starts slowing down. I am seeing it and i can feel it. After 5 or 10 minute later Ram usage jumps ~2000 mb. Some pieces of background restricted apps still stays in the Ram and i cant avoid from it on Stock Pie and these pieces slowing down my phone's performance. I am not using 26 apps!! Maybe 4 or 5 apps i am frequently using. I dont want unused apps garbage on Ram.
Huawei's EMUI has a built-in feature to avoid auto-start apps. Some custom roms has a Wake-Lock blocker. But i dont have anything on Stock Pie.
I just dont want these apps garbage on my phone's Ram. Because of these reasons i can clearly say Mi A2 Lite's Stock Pie rom has bad garbage collector. Dont know Xiaomi modified it or not. Probably thats why Stock Pie roms consumes more battery than Stock Oreo.
I am not the man who believe 'unused Ram is a waste'.
I just want most important system apps on the Ram and other almost everything shouldnt occupy a space on the Ram. This motto is the key reason of performance for Budget phones on my perspective.
Rom details:
Locked - Stock Android 9 - v10.16.0 (November 2019)
What i am asking is:
- Which Roms has built-in feature to avoid from this?
- Which Roms has a best Garbage collector?
- Which Rom fits to my requirements?

You are fundamentally misunderstaning how task management works.
Restricting stops apps from using the CPU (and thus, the battery).
Android will leave unused apps in RAM for faster launching later. Some "AI" decides which of these to keep when more RAM is needed.
If it offends you to see these apps in a low-level task manager you can kill them. Heaps of task manager apps can do this automatically. You need something like greenify if you want them to stay dead.

I did not misunderstand anything. You didnt understand what i mean exactly.
Why Hd Backgrounds app or Mi Remote app should stay on the Ram even i dont use them? I am using them once a week or so. Thats why i dont need faster launch. Because i am not using them? Clear?Youre talking about app restart power consumption. Thats the point. I am not using them and i am not starting them in a single charge. Even if i want to restart these (as i said this thing happens once a week) apps restart power consumption consumes incomparably less energy than phone restart power consumption. I dont want to use my phone’s Ram with junks.
Do you prefer trashy Ram with bunch of junks? I dont prefer it. I cant clean these apps Ram garbage until restart my phone. The restart consumes a lot of energy and when my phones Ram become trashy i should restart all system to clean them.
Restart has benefits;
- More performance
- Clean Ram
- Better Battery life until Ram become trashy
What i am saying is why i cant use these benefits without restart. Think about all these power consumption when we restart our phone.
Its all about garbage collection and this thing doesnt work on Android Pie. I tryed Greenify gived it all what app wants still nothing changed. Ram still gets trashy and this causes; slowdowns, hiccups, more battery consumption,.. etc. Even my phone’s processor and battery doesnt like garbage on Ram.
I hope Huawei’s HarmonyOS will work better than Google’s trashy Ram management.

It's not junk. If you want tasks killed, get a task killer. If you want to prevent apps from starting, get a hibernation app.

The Chinese OEMS are notorious for evicting programs from RAM and preventing them from running in the background, fundamentally breaking the android API contract in the process. If you think that's better then by all means, go use one of those ROMs.
I for one got the A2 Lite instead of the Redmi 6 Pro precisely to avoid MIUI and its task management policies.
